I visited here on a day trip to Ulverston. Found the Market Hall completely by chance and then spotted this deli in the corner. I treated myself to a £5 cheese board and as there is only myself in my house who eats cheese, this was perfect. I’ve just eaten it now and it was the best cheese board I have ever had. I also got some pickled onions from the counter, they were delish too. How I wished I lived closer to this amazing stall!

Estoy en el mercado de Ulverston, justo al lado de la puerta de entrada principal, este puesto es excepcional. Su selección de alimentos de proveedores locales nacionales e internacionales es excepcional y muy fresca.

Reccomend a visit to the stall in the market and view the cheese range, the rest of the market is worth a visit.

Nice selection of cheeses but double check the price. I was visiting the area and was charged £4.60 for 75g of Cambonzola which is over 4 times what the label said. It was the only thing I bought so not sure how they made such a mistake.

Everything about this small delicatessen smacks of taste & quality. The range of cheeses is great and they are very strong & tasty. In addition the prepared salads & cold meats are excellent whatever the weather.

Blackledges sell some of the best Lancashire cheese (both mild and tasty) to be found anywhere. They also sell a wide range of other British and continental cheeses, butter, cold meats, savoury biscuits, jams and all sorts of other things. I can usually do about half my total shopping here. The staff are always very helpful and help to make shopping here a pleasure.

Bought some boiled ham Saturday 15th Nov 2014, and by evening of the 16th it was green around the edge, about a third of it. Returned to Blackledges on the 22nd of Nov to tell them and was told by the acting manager that there was nothing that could be done as I didn't keep the ham. The attitude of the staff was quite snide and quite frankly put me off going again. I will be passing the details of this experience on to other locals who I know.

Esto es No. 1 fuente en Ulverston (junto con Irvings) para carne pero también tienen una buena variedad de alimentos, y es una popular "llamar a peort" para los compradores más locales y visitados.

Stopped to have a tea, latte and a slice of carrot cake. Great service and a huge slice of cake that we shared. Great value for money.

I would like to offer 5 stars specifically for the quality and portion size of our food. The Cavendish is tucked down a narrow cobbled street through a stone archway and is beautifully picturesque. With a couple of smaller tables out front and a huge, well appointed beer garden at the rear where you may also have your meal. We sat indoors on good heavy furniture and an extremely rustic table that matched the condition of the roof beams which are obviously hundreds of years old. Although cozy inside it did not feel "Dark" or stuffy. Our service girls were just attentive enough and very pleasant to speak with. The 2 gents that appeared to be running the show were a little more flustered. The scenery from the back garden was particularly nice with trees in bloom and the church tower just visible too. It was quite expensive but the Steak pie was outstanding and I am sure the shortcrust pastry was homemade and quite filling. My wife chose the salmon fillet with salad and found it also very well presented and cooked but found the chilled rice quite odd and un palletable to her taste. I would definitely reccomend the Cavendish to family.

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.
