Best burger in Scotland… 3rd time back in 3 months and I don’t even live locally. I have dreams about the double bacon cheese burger with mayo and blackhorn sauce.

Blackhorn Burgers is hands down the best burger in town! Seriously, do not bother with the other burger places in St Andrews (some of them are downright mediocre/ inedible). We've been to this place several times for takeout and sit-ins. Each time we've had fantastic burgers. High quality, juicy and well-seasoned patty that is cooked to a deep brown crust on the outside whilst the inside remains with the tiniest blush of pink. No dry, gristly and grey sad burgers here. We love the price point. Excellent burger and chunky chips for a more than reasonable price. The quality of the beef shines through. Bonus points for the dog friendly area in the back.

Awesome milkshakes definitely recommend going on Sunday for the deal. One of my favorite places to eat in town.

Hygiene conditions is quite concerning, glasses were sticky and unwashed.

Went here with my friends and loved it. Such good food, even the vegetarian options are amazing.

Friendly staff and you can watch your food being cooked if you stand/sit at the bar. When you order they ask you your first name and when your foods ready they call out your name which makes it more personal. Definitely use this place again whenever i'm in St.Andrews.

This place is fantastic, one of the best burgers you can get and their pricing is spot on. Service is always really good too. Highly recommend

The best burger in Scotland. The quality of the beef is beyond anything you'll find locally and beyond. Service is quick, even when busy and the prices have stayed more than reasonable over the years.

Not sure why the negative comments. This was my first visit back to my hometown for several years and I saw this place. For the price the food was lovely, quick and polite service and pleasant atmosphere. Would recommend for a quick bite to eat.

Great value and delicious Wraps

I recently dined at Blackhorn Burger in St Andrews with my family, and it was an absolute delight. The inviting ambiance combined with the delectable menu left us thoroughly impressed. Food was great taste wise. It was busy and service was spot on. Only issue is that the servings could have been better.

Terrible hygiene practices - one of the staff used bare hands to put raw bacon on the grill, then without washing his hands grabbed my my fries and burger to put in the bag. So there's raw bacon on my food. Another server was handling cash and then immediately assembling burgers without cleaning her hands. I was so disgusted I had to throw my food out and go wash my hands to be safe. At least I only lost £8.

Food very basic and unimaginative. Need more use of onions and imaginative toppings

This bills itself on its burgers and hot dogs, which are alright but not amazing. Their wraps, however, are to die for. The atmosphere is casual: you put your order in at the front and listen for your name while you sit at a table.

Staff was really great. I ate here the last night of our stay and was literally the only place that would take us at 7pm without a reservation. Food being good was an absolute plus!

It's self-service, the food is fast but very good, the salad is delicious, and the sweet potatoes are delicious... the kids are very clever, and the price is low. Fair for the service they provide, but a very good place to go with the little ones!

We loved this place and visited twice during our holiday. Our little girl said it was the best burger she'd ever had (I'd have to agree). Blond female staff member was lovely and spent time chatting to us on both visits. Looking forward to coming back in 2024! Cheers

Cheap burger joint, the citizens are okay, but not special. Unfortunately, the staff is overwhelmed by food intolerances. Just like with tourists who don't have a Scottish accent.

Solid but not outstanding place (my humble opinion).

We had the most delicious burgers here. The chips are also excellent. The guys behind the counter work very hard making sure everything is cooked, wrapped and served at a great pace. Very reasonable prices too. Blackthorn burgers is now added to our favourites list.

Best burger I had in the UK by a lot. They nailed the crispiness of a nice smash burger while not having to be as thin. No idea how they pulled it off, just phenomenal. Shakes looked amazing but didn't get one.

It's probably the cheapest food you can find in St. Andrews. It's really tasty and simple and the staff is very friendly even when very busy. It's my go-to every time I come to visit.

The outside area is a great addition to the eating experience.

From the outside, this cafe looked really good, but the inside let it down. It was very much a paired-down "back street cafe" aesthetic inside. It was very small and the seating was basic and not comfortable. The ordering of food is done at the counter, and your name is shouted when the food is ready. The choice was very limited with no vegan or gluten-free options (burger in a lettuce leaf instead of a bun). I believe the beef burgers were ok. The chicken burger was "fine," and the "fries" were large and tasted ok. It was very much a place for a quick bite and then leave. If what you're looking for is a St. Andrews version of Five Guys/fast food this is it.

Half an hour wait for a simple burger! Took well over ten minutes just to be served (although in fairness we were a big group). When the burger did arrive it was thoroughly middle of the road. Results appear inconsistent, some of my friends had lots of sauce, I had very little. This is likely because while I was waiting the squeezy bottles of ketchup in the kitchen ran out so the staff member making up the burgers took out the catering size tub and just poured huge dollops of ketchup on the hot dogs. When he poured too much on one his supervisor took the sausage and ran it under a tap to wash it off, then reheated it for him to slobber in ketchup again. Obviously stuff like this happens everywhere but having an open kitchen means higher standards of presentation are important. I also saw a couple of orders being messed up and only corrected when the customer mentioned it, although in his defence this guy seemed new. I got the £7 Sunday meal deal which included chips (which were nice but the portion size was stingy) and if it weren't for the wait time I'd consider it good value. However, I could probably have walked to Tesco, bought burgers myself, and cooked them at home in the time this took. Which rather defeats the point of fast food. In summary, excruciatingly slow service for a reasonable quality burger. Go to Saints Sizzle instead!

Nice tasty burger but the staff need some serious food handling and hygiene training. Watched a 'cook' push down on an overflowing bin. His hand came out covered in ketchup. He then used dry blue paper towel to wipe and clean his hand and then picked up some fresh rolls and put them in the grill. I was shocked and quite disgusted and pointed out what had happened to who I believe is the owner/manager. He told the guy to wash his hands and as the sink was just on the other side of the counter where I was stood, very sarcastically showed me his wet hands and asked if that was OK. I pointed out that it wasn't for me to decide as he should know better working in a food environment.

Can only comment on the burgers but just okay.

Used to be hit, now it’s miss. Prices up, quality and size down. Must be bulk buying the ends of tomatoes because they consistently use the funniest looking tiny bits. Buns are different, beef is different ever since their butcher Minick went bust. Cashing in on being the only burger joint in town.

As usual, brilliant burgers. My go-to in St Andrews.

Not that impressed. The burguer was nothing to write about and it got lost in a much bigger bun, brioche-style which was dry from the grill. The chips and onion rings were OK, as well as the shake, but the quality of the burguer could definitely be improved.

Was good except customers at next table accepted our drinks as server delivered to wrong table.

Decent burger. Not large but good quality for the price. The Hot Dog tasted a bit anaemic. Friendly staff. Music was too loud. Couldn’t hear them calling our order. Was chilly inside. We could taste the ice in the fizzy drinks. It wasn’t an improvement.

The place is nice. The food is prepared at the moment. The attention is very correct. The "normal" burgers, the milkshake was very good.

First time coming here had the Godfather Wrap it was amazing definitely be back next time I'm in St Andrew's. Oh and the sweet potato fries are amazing also.

i went with a few friends, and we all ordered a few items but there was a mix-up somewhere. despite that, the staff completely made up for it by remaking the food for free and such! the burgers hit the right spot when you're in the mood for it, and the vegetarian options are equally as good. the milkshakes are pretty good too if you're killing for something sweet.

Why does Dali's Fish & Pizza Bar make better burger than you. I thought you were a burger place. You make a burger as if I made it myself with no skill whatsoever.

I will definitely be back to try the wraps. I had the grill burger with chips the other day, which hit the spot! Ended up ordering another burger but struggled with that. Finished off with ice cream to takeaway, really nice too. The girl at the counter was really nice.

Absolute no gluten free bread products available. My chicken burger came as a very thin piece of chicken on a piece of lettuce My husband wrap was mostly wrap with little filling

Simple and effective service. Order at the bar, come grab it when it's ready. I don't need table service, infact having to say thank you after every fork, knife and glass is brought to you starts to feel insincere. Food was great, portion sizes are on point too, and the menu has just the right amount of choice, these guys don't buff their menu with fluff, they keep it to the point.

Out of stock of multiple items, told late when the order had arrived, then ordered a substitute which we waited for for an hour, which they'd never started

Reasonably interesting meals if a little imbalanced in portioning and temperature. With a little less haste will come a little more taste.

They’d make sure you don’t go back there again. The burger came uncooked and over salted and the chips came uncooked and unsalted. Nothing was right. Even the coke I ordered didn’t taste right which tells me they didn’t set their dispensers right. I think the place is just badly managed which is a shame. It looks really good from the outside but you try the food and your whole day is spoiled.

Really good, unique and tasty wraps. This restaurant offers delicious wraps in the heart of St Andrews. I would recommend the wraps as they are authentic and tasty. For example they have some with goat cheese, chilli jam, pastrami and salad. Or you could get a random one! The restaurant is relatively small with some seating inside and just two tables outside. The staff are nice and friendly. I'm giving 4 stars because their burgers are average and at busy times you could wait a lot. On my visit, I waited 45 minutes which was too long. Overall, I'd recommend you visit and order a wrap.

We arrived in St Andrews quiet late and hungry without an idea of what we fancy. Never heard about this place before ,so decided to give it a shot. We shared a burger ,a wrap and some sweet potato chips . All really good - the flavours were great , cooked perfectly and just the right portion sizes . The staff was friendly, but it felt like they could be more attentive. In general we couldn't possibly complain about a single thing. We now understand why it was so busy 😅👌

Staff are friendly, food is good but would be nice if they have a 3D model or something to let you know how small the burgers are and their is a good 15-25 minute wait before you get your food when taking away

The milkshake was great, the waitstaff was friendly. The chips were really good. The burger patty was a bit overcooked. Overall a great experience.

Good burgers, prices were very reasonable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There are only thick fries and sweet potato fries. Our groups agreed it would be nice to have shoestring fries also.

Juicy simple classic burgers. Star of the shower are the fries - crisp on the outside, fluffy in the inside. Would be difficult to beat such fries! Great prices!

Good value shouldn't mean low quality. I can make a better burger at home, sorry to say. Decent vibe, kind of quick street food for students. OK staff but very average food at best. Maybe we were there on a bad day.

Have been a customer here since 2019, was good but in recent two visits, found out all the staff were new, thus the quality of the food were lower. Also the beef was thinner than 3 years ago.

I got the blackhorn burger and it was absolutely delicious. Hands down one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. The bread was cooked to perfection, perfectly toasted given a subtle crunch but still leaving the soft quality to the bun. The meat was succulent and well seasoned and the sauce was delicious. The fries were crispy and fluffy on the inside. Pricing is good and service was good too. Cosy atmosphere. Overall amazing burger place. Unfortunately I was unable to get a picture of my food because I ate it so fast!! Hope to go again one day.
