Excellent stop for a coffee and a bacon roll; fast service and, if you fancy a cake instead, plenty of freshly baked options. Friendly staff and visited by many locals while I was there.

Blacks are a local chain of bakers but this unit is more café than bakery. Bought a loaf and a cake but was surprised how expensive it was. Good location being in the heart of Kirn seafront. Seems popular with local tradesman and there's a constant stream of vans and trucks pulling up so can't be so bad.

Went on a day trip with my brother and stopped at Black's to get some filled rolls I had ham and my brother had Tuna and we also had a fruit slice and apple slice, all were excellent and disappeared into our tums in record time, next time we visit we will be back for more.

Not bad . The square sausages aren't the best and could really do with an upgrade to some nice butchers sausage

I was appalled to discover that the crusty white loaf we purchased from this bakery contained lard - pork fat. i am mortified to think that over the years the loaves we have bought here are not suitable for vegetarians. This really should be brought to customer’s attention.

I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

Visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The setting on the shore of Loch Fyne overlooking the ruin of Castle Lachlan is stunning and we were able to enjoy a bottle of fizz outside our shepherds huts where we would be spending the night. After a late afternoon stroll to the castle ruins we were ready for our dinner. The tasting menu served in the evening is locally sourced and is probably the best I have ever tasted. We chose the wine pairing which was excellent and presented beautifully. After a great nights sleep breakfast is delivered to your accommodation and this is another delight. Cannot fault this place
