They need to update opening times, got the bus here from rothesay and it’s closed at 3.20pm despite the opening times online and on the door saying open til 4.30pm today. Now got an hour wait for the bus in the rain. Not great for visitors.

The lentil soup & baked potato was incredibly good! The chips & curry sauce were soggy & gross. It is in a great location, stunning views. Big parking lot, wheelchair & dog friendly. 🐕 (2 dogs when we we're there) The staff were all younger, super helpful & energetic but the some of our food wasn't so good. £30+ for 2.

The quality of the food, service and atmosphere in this very busy little restaurant was excellent, wholesome and reasonably priced. The young staff were very friendly, helpful and comfortable with all of the customers on a hot sunny day. Can't find fault with anything on a nostalgic trip back to a place we visited in the late 60s and whilst it wasn't as busy as the whole island was back then it was a great wee day out and brought a special smile to my face, happy days indeed.

Had a tuna sandwich, waited 30 mins, 80% mayo in basic white bread, couldn't eat it... couldn't be bothered to complain as they wouldn't care. No where else in the area, so no competition, they'll probably never change.

I ordered the chicken burger with chips and was highly disappointed. The “burger” was 2 pieces of an unbuttered bun with a dry piece of chicken slapped in the middle. No sauces. There was a side of about 10 chips which was very underwhelming for the price paid. Not to mention that this took 40 minutes to prepare. Do not recommend.

This is not the kind of place you stumble on but it's definitely the kind of place you remember. Located at the end of the road, with it's own bus terminal and a beach no less, it's not an oil painting to look at but like every book cover, you won't know what's inside till you open it up. Friendly, quaint and very popular. Really good mixture of food choice but it's the food itself that stands out. Local produce abounds. I've tried to think of a negative but I'd have to be really picky to put this place down. We visited in November, God knows how popular if will be in warmer months. We visited because, on a map it was a cafe at the beach, we came back a fortnight later just because we could. Edinburgh to Bute for a cuppa.

I love this place, looking out over beautiful Ettrick Bay towards Arran. You can't beat the location! The food is great, no-nonsense, no-frills and I love that tea comes in a mug and coffee choice is either instant or bean (Costa and Starbucks's choice completely overwhelms me). The team who work there are lovely. It's dog friendly too. The building could probably do with a bit of TLC but it's part of what it is and why we have such fondness for it

We loved this place but I'm giving a mixed review on the food.. The soup was great but the cheese toastie was dire. I'm not sure how you can not make a good toasties I've made and eaten lots with different types of cheese including the singles cheese slices, but never had a toastie so flavourless 😕. The milk with the tea was a very generous amount, and the lemon meringue cheesecake looked amazing but sadly only saw it on my way out! (next time!) But the real charm about this place is it's 1970s coffee shop feel.. And menu, and the VIEW! MY advice would be to reduce the menu options and just do less things very well.

Everything about this place is average. Really in need of a good facelift and change of management to people who actually look interested. This establishment occupies one of the prime scenic sites on Bute overlooking a beautiful beach with stunning views of Isle of Arran and the geological phenomenon known as the sleeping warrior. The site is a popular place to view sunsets. Outdoor facilities are frankly dreadful. Uncomfortable ancient wooden picnic tables and equally uncomfortable metal or hardwood park bench type seats. The area is run down with constantly overflowing bins. In the recent good weather, we wanted to sit outside. Everything was served in paper cups and polystyrene trays We had to order at a side window. Table service is reserved for indoor tables only, where a greasy spoon atmosphere prevails. We assumed someone would alert us when our order was ready or perhaps may even have served it to our outdoor table. No chance, after waiting sometime, i went back to the serving window to find no one in attendance and our order lying at the window, soup and tea going cold.Staff are sullen unfriendly and disinterested in any form of customer service At 10.30 am this morning there were no fresh baked goods at all for sale to accompany tea or coffee, only cold cheesecakes and dessert gateau, which had been languishing in chill cabinets since the previous day. Cafe closes at 4pm, so sunset refreshments are non existant. For this type of service you will not enjoy cheap and cheerful prices. God knows where profits go, certainly not into any improvements that will benefit the comfort of customers..😱🙄🥺

What a shame. How can such a place blessed with such wonderful views be so shabby. All bins outside overflowing with rubbish and dog poo bags and rubbish on the ground blowing about. If you want a coffee it can be ground coffee if you sit inside but only powdered coffee if you want to sit outside. What’s that all about?!!

The manager of this place was absolutely horrendous. A sunny day and they have tables set out outside- my family went inside to order and were refused service as you ‘are not allowed to take anything outside’ we were also not allowed to look at a menu at their tables outside? Very bizarre, but this sentiment was also echoed by the other people sitting outside who were actually afraid to go in and ask for a form that they were not given (again, odd that they were allowed food outside but not cutlery) Either way this owner is clearly unhinged and the service is absolutely appalling. I am a local and have visited this place many times over the year, it myself friends and family will absolutely not be returning because of his attitude and aggression

The sccabbiest place in Scotland and quite possibly the worst service hotly followed by the worst food. I think the good reviews are written by staff and friends. Ordered a cheeseburger and chips. Not a complicated item. Much was made of do we want bacon and cheese (yes please to both), salt and vinegar on chips (selection advised). All of this through an unwelcoming serving hatch, with customers breathing and sweating over the ice cream in the freezer below. First time round, chips (no salt and vinegar), burgers with the wrong toppings. Eventually the burger was offered with hard as rock bacon and no cheese. After complaining again i was given two cartons of freshly grated cheese (nice touch). They did offer to make them again but was tired of waiting. Burger was dry , so was bread. The outside seating area seats had paint peeling off, seat sections totally loose (fell off the bench twice when i was at table), bins overflowing. The toilets had no lights, so everyone needs their phone torch. I didn't dare use the loo, but had to venture in to fill the dog bowl I brought with me. To be avoided. I gave an extra mark for ambiance as the views are stunning.
