I recently visited Peri Peri and was extremely disappointed with the service. The staff were unprofessional and dismissive, not only towards me but also towards other customers. It felt like we were an inconvenience rather than valued guests. The lack of attention and care was evident, making the dining experience unpleasant. I expected better from a restaurant that promotes itself as a welcoming place. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve their customer service in the future.

IS THIS PLACE OPEN ANYMORE? 03 /06/24 Am a regular customer here and tonight a was not impressed atall the chicken wings were freezing and the sauce they were covered in was lumpy and the other thing a ordered a asked for no chile on it and when a got home guess what it was coverd in .....chillie ...!!!think the staff/chefs need to up the game a bit judging by recent reviews a tried the one in Glasgow 2 weeks ago and was well impressed came here tonight and felt cheated out of money 💰

The hot flavour is VERY lemony. If you don't like lemon, don't order. Spoiled the meal. Sides and chips were nice. Fast service. Got a offer but otherwise slightly on the expensive side compared to other similar establishments.

The food is way too salty. The chicken was soo dry and over flavoured for a place that focuses mainly on chicken that was a big disappointment. 100% wouldn’t recommend.

Manager was shocking nothing but cheek from her when showed her my food was uncooked it was pink right through , she even said it was spices but my friend who had exact same as me wasn’t pink. Manager told me to F off on phone and wouldn’t not refund me my money for food that was not cooked. Staff were trying to help but manager was so rude would smack her if it was a guy

There are two things that made my experience incredible..the people n the food. A person called Phoebe helped me at the till. On a cold day, as a student new to the city, all you want is kindness and patience from people. And that's what Phoebe did. Phoebe helped me with my queries so patiently and helped me out with the App n choosing my soft drink. Big thankyou! The peri peri fries are now my favourite! Crunchy, spicy n perfect size. The paneer wrap is also v good. The size of the portion is perfect. Will definitely come here again.

I ordered a takeaway from this place at 17:45hrs 29/09/2023- I didn't receive my order until 18:25. In the time I waited, I saw 3 customers having their orders taken and given to them before me. Apart from that, the Spicy Chicken Burger and Chips were okay.

Prime spot for your fix of Peri peri chicken. The lunch deal is a pretty good shout! Love the hot flavoured grilled chicken! And it's all Halal!

As soon as I walked into this establishment the chef ran through from the back, grabbed me and flung me up against the wall before passionately kissing me and licking me from head to toe. Other than this experience the food was excellent and hasn’t put me off coming back although I advise they keep their employees in order as no one should expect this treatment when going for a nice meal!! Male front staff wearing earphones while working. Packed my order wrong. Left hungry as items were missing. Shop was quiet - no customers and still made a mistake. Needs to pay more attention and remove earphones. Poor! Disappointed.

I had heard good things and was not disappointed. From the moment I walked in the staff were great, Tracey the manager was very friendly and advised me on how to order. The food came quickly and was really amazing. The chicken fell off the bone, the chips were crispy and the sauce spicy (as I wanted). I will definitely be back for more.

The extra hot chicken wings where not that spicy, and just had an overwhelming citrus taste. Possibly missread my online order and gave me the "hot lemon and herb" sauce. The wings where really nice but the sauce ruined them. Everything else was great

Service here is atrocious. Ordered no onion with my salad but it came with onion, which i am alergic to, went all the way back from home to explain and they said they had "been busy" and practically refused to replace our food which was cold by this stage, said we had eaten chips when in actual fact there had been so few chips to begin with it just looked like there should have been more.... Staff are horrible avoid this place if you want a nice meal.

Burgers are Decent But service can be a little slow

Very fast food joint atmosphere, not a place to "go out" for but ok if you need a quick bite before meeting somewhere nicer. Didn't like the atmosphere much. Food was ok, quite spicy.

This is Ok, but the menu is limited and the flavours aren't very good in my opinion. Chicken was really dry and tasted nothing like I was expecting. I would stick to Nandos.

Lovely place for a quick lunch, portion size is great, good deals and offers student discount. Jackie was brilliant , an absolute asset to the business. Made me feel right at home you can tell she loves her job.

The salad was amazing. The staff is wonderful. The food was good but a little too spicy for us girls, fine for the guys

If you are looking for an alternative for Nando's then this is your place. Good portion to serve and money wise its not expensive. Can't say much about Ambience as its alright and staff is good.

Honestly crippled with a hangover, this scran was the only thing I was looking forward to and I’ve been served something I would be disappointed to receive in prison. My hangover has gotten worse. Was physically drained now I’m mentally damaged, might end it all.

We ordered a delivery of £35 with 2 burger meals. The burger itself was okay but wasn’t the best tasting burger i’ve tried but the bun was too big and dry. I had a panini meal for my sister which i chose the flavour mild but they gave her lemon and herb flavoured and the panini was overcooked so was really crispy. The chips were too crispy and cold which was surprising because the driver only took 10 minutes to deliver it to us after i was notified of the food being ready. Only good things in the order were the jalapeño balls and cheese balls.

Ordered spicy lemon peri peri chicken burger, peri peri fries and mozzarella sticks with drink. Was a bit more spicy than I expected and lemon juice was dripping everywhere out of the burger but was nice.

some real thieves, we paid for the order by Uber, the delivery man did not arrive on time, we spoke with the local and he told us that they would resend it, we were waiting for 45 minutes, the order did not arrive, the money has not been returned, terrible service, inadvisable 100%.

Friendly atmosphere staff helpful polite and food was nice.

One of my favourite place I really enjoy their lemon chicken wings. Came to pick up this order because I am out of their reach. It was all wrapped in foil bags. Came home, opened the bag but the chicken meal was replaced by wings. I believe they might have missed accidentally. Informed them over the phone, they have offered a replacement but too far to go again, the lady answered my call was apologised me. It is understandable on a busy time, hope this will not happen again. Also order conformation was not received in email.

Went for dinner. It was nice to have the menu displayed on the big screen upon entrance but another good thing about the menu is that popular items are highlighted that makes life easy for someone there to try it out. Coming to the food, I tried their mild chicken burger with peri Peri fries since these were among the popular dishes with a soft drink. The taste was nice, both for grilled chicken and fries with fries having a little edge over the burger. Food presentation was good too, forgot to try any of their dips so can't say anything about that. Comparing it with KFC burger since it is only second halal burger place I tried in Edinburgh, Black Rooster 🐓 is a much better option. They have all the ingredients to give the burger its flavor rather than just putting a chicken piece in between the buns and giving it out as a burger.

Great place to eat, we ordered a mixed platter and were pleasantly surprised. They use kind of tangy peri peri flavours but it works really well. Super friendly staff too.

Ordered 5 strips extra hot - spice level and taste was sufficient but the chicken was over cooked, dry and of poor quality. Pepes remains the GOAT 🐐🐐🐐

For the cost you get a decent amount. However, I wasn’t exactly wanting to finish everything because the sauce which completely smothers the wings is far too salty

Really disappointed with menu policy. Spent £41 pounds on dinner and not even allowed sauce dip or even mayo sachets without paying extra. Server just said we are not allowed to give free sauce. 30p for a dip and 10p for a sachets. Come on show some courtesy towards customer.

customer service is not good ,, they presented my chicken on paper,, without a dish!!!!! And it wasn’t clean,, can you people eat food mixd with paper and ink???

Liked everything about this restaurant. The service where the waitress was very friendly and helpful، the food portions that were generous and chicken so teneder. and the price is at the lower side, Plus its halal. would definitely come again

First time ordered a delivery from black rooster. Ordered a chicken burger meal. It was really nice, very satisfied. Delivery was quick. A bit pricey but overall it was 👍 no complaints or issues. Will deffo consider going back and recommending to others.

Couldn’t order online for pick up as website was down again. Just got home with food a while ago & my son found a hair in the burrito! Went in the bin & I gave him mines. (Pic below) Yuck! Food was average burgers n burritos were too dry. Chips were cold. Not easy for me to go back , as they don’t deliver to my address. Tried calling but a BT answering system comes on. Very disappointed :( Waste of money .

Best wings with mild sauce and the whole chicken with the lemon and herb is amazing and prices are really in budget

This is a very nice place and decent food (halal) Slightly expensive. We had a mixed platter (a whole chicken with 4 wings and chicken strips) 2 sides (fries and jalapeño bites) and 2 drinks. Pretty decent. The lemon and herb sauce was good but very thick. Try some other sauce as well. Overall quite satisfied. Had it at home so pics from home

Dreadful restaurant. When the food was 1.5 hours late and I phoned them the number was constantly off the hook. Meanwhile the website said their level of business was 'normal' and no delays expected. Contacted them through Just-Eat and they apologised and said the food would arrive in another 30 minutes. After another 45 minutes nothing changed and I ordered from a different place. Awful customer service is the main signature of a badly managed restaurant.

We have ordered from the restaurent and it is very pathatic and disappointing to wait for one and half hour for the delivary. Dinein will be better

Food is lovely and place is clean and nice. I LOVE the extra hot wings and kids love the chicken popcorn meal. Despite very good quality, prices are very reasonable.

I ordered for take away and considering it was a small order, they took so long to prepare it. I am very disappointed with the waiting time.

Ordered a Carry Out, first visit, 1/2 Chicken BQ sauce; ready in 15 minutes; turned into 30 minutes and was saturated in Peri Peri sauce. Not worth complaining I won’t be back. Not even ‘a sorry for your wait’…

I thought ordering online would be faster and I was wrong. They told me that my order would be in 15 minutes and I had to wait more than an hour seeing how everyone was given the order before me. buying there will no longer be our option. In the end I was given a rather disappointing product.

Delivery was supposed to be 30 minutes but 1 hour 20 minutes I'm still sat here waiting. Phoned up but staff had no idea where my delivery was until now. Food cold and burrito is tiny

Not impressed at all chicken was so dry. No salad on the bun ether. Now the chips they were on point. Place was also empty so that talks volumes.the staff looked so happy to be there NOT. Not one hi how are you or thank you when paying. Will I be back absolutely not.

Ordered the spicy bbq burger, first time came luke warm so asked for a replacement which was warmer. Concept similar to nandos but the marinate was just runny. The chicken burrito was alot better so recommend that. Little one got, fried chicken strips, the warmest out of the 3. Sauces you have to purchase separately. Overall wouldn't go again.

What an absolute rubbish place to eat. Tasteless burgers. “Hot” tasted like it should be a mild. Mild was a lemon and herb at best. Tasteless food. Customer service was pants. Stick to Pepe’s.

Ordered food today. Arrived 3 hours later with everything dry and looked like it was cooked days ago.

This was my first ever visit to a Black Rooster Peri Peri which, from the start, made me realise I will look forward to many more visits. The Newington area certainly has a vast number of choice for places to get food but it's more than the fresh look of the premises that make Black Rooster stand out. The food is great and offers very good value for quality to enjoy both inside the restaurant or as carryout. I went for the Chicken burger, with added cheese, Peri Peri fries and, taking advantage of the "Meal deal", washed it down with a cup of Girders Irn Bru. You have four choices of "heat level" - Extra mild to Extra Hot. I went for the "Hot" which I thoroughly enjoyed but reckon, next time, I'll be daring and try the "extra hot". To that end it is exciting news to learn that the Dunfermline Branch is opening on the 19th of October '21.

Decent chicken but way, way over priced! The burger meal cost near 10 quid but should be no more than seven. Maybe I should have gotten strips but they charge you 30p for a tub of sauce that is just about enough for a a wee portion of chips. Buying 10 strips for a 7.50 and then about 5 tubs of sauce for the dipping is akin to seeing the customer as nothing but a walking pound sign. The chicken did taste decent but you had to pay extra for cheese! I don't like how they treat the customer at all in that respect. On another note, the staff were very friendly if a bit untrained. There is no card machine and I was told this after I was shown my seat. The staff member also tried serve my drink to me before my meal arrived, not a good move as I don't want a flat drink with my meal, this kind of thing just requires training rather than anything intense. All of the staff were very nice though. They need to sort their prices out - charging for sauce is, in my opinion inexcusable. It should only be done if that's the only item being purchased. If they are going to charge, it should be unlimited. The small pot is pretty insulting to the customer. Can you imagine ordering a kebab and being charged for enough chilli sauce to only cover a few small shreds of meat at the top? That's what this place felt like. The choice of fried or grilled chicken is great as well as spice levels, a really sublime touch. I will try it again though, only because the chicken was tasty but also because there are just not that many decent halal chicken places in Edinburgh. Upon a further visit, the staff continue to give you your drink as soon as you pay and separate from the meal - this is terrible and just shows that the company wants to swindle every last penny from you, not a good look. Add to that, I was charged for cheese and nowhere on the menu does it say they do that. I feel like these guys really want to squeeze every penny. Lastly, I had a wrap meal and the wrap was pretty small and the side was twice the size - doesn't make sense. Good food though but it drops another star because of shoddy practices. Place is super expensive and they can't wait to rip you off at every possible opportunity.

I just order takeaway today and im very disappointed with delivery service and the food. I order a whole chicken with mango lime sauce and it come late very late,it supposed to arrive at 7.35pm and arrived at 20.20pm cold and spicy very spicy with piri piri my children couldn't eat nothing i needed to order something else plus the chicken didn't have the wings..what?? It supposed to be a whole chicken 😕 😒 I will not recommend 😤 And i will not order again

Absolutely terrible food, don’t waste your money…ordered a wings platter which was clearly undercooked and the flatbread was stale. Asked for the wings to be cooked a little more and they refused. Really bad customer service, no offer of any kind from the staff to make amends.

Worse experience. Firstly, the food came after 1.5 hour. Then, the crispy strips are all burnt and over fried. Very disappointed!! The chip had so much salt and the Mozzarella Sticks was also tasted bad, it’s better to get it from McDonal. Very unprofessional and bad restaurant!! Wasted £20 there!!

I have been to Black Rooster on a number of occasions now and the food has always been top notch. The Quesadilla is my personal favourite although I have been impressed with everything I have ordered. Will continue to eat here when I am in the area. Good job BR!!!

Great place for a fast food chicken fix. Recommend the double chicken pitta / double chicken burger meal. The spice levels can be pretty hot 🔥 so be warned! (I’ve managed to work my way up to medium/mild!)

The sauce hot +++ is delocious Perfect for the family

The sauces are tasty, chips are tasty, side are tasty, burgers are tasty. No complaints here. However, we ordered the platter with 12 chicken strips, but I’m not sure whether they were over cooked or reheated but they were just dry and chewy. I do recommend the place but I hope the cooking of the chicken improves.
