Black Pepper in Aylesbury Vale

Took my wife here for a treat and was really surprised how fresh and tasty the food was. I haven’t visited this restaurant before but will definitely be back

I had today my birthday meal. Very disappointed thaty husband chooses this place. We have booked table 1,15pm. Unfortunately we got served our drinks very quickly,but after this we was left out to wait for food for 1,45min. Basically we got it after 3pm. My son start sleeping on the table. As we couldn't leave as everything was booked and we wanted to have a meal out. We will not be coming back for sure Girls was nice and food okay,but kitchen working priority's is very bad.

Went there with family for mother day ? It was 7 of us , very busy restaurant, food was delicious, service was good atmosphere, was very good , we will visit again very soon

I don’t like writing negative reviews, but we visited black pepper today for my sister in laws birthday. We were going to go to verdetto- but it was full, so my SIL chose black pepper. There was admittedly 9 of us, but we checked and they said it would be no problem. We were promptly seated and ordered - but the food took an hour and a half!!! Other people came and went after we had sat down. We came just after 1, and left at 3.20!! We all had plans for the afternoon, including my SIL doing things for her birthday, but had to cancel them due to the meals taking so long. There wasn’t an apology nor were we told why it took so long… my three young children were very patient - but it would have been nice to have been offered a discount or something for the inconvenience, but we weren’t offered anything of the kind. The restaurant was also freezing, so I sat there for 2 hours and 20 minutes and had to wear my coat. We won’t be returning again. It’s a shame, as I like to support independents - but this was unacceptable! Definitely go to dipalee lounge instead.

Molly was an amazing waitress, her service was 10/10 and looked after us for the whole evening! Food was delicious will definitely be visiting again!

First time eating here and won’t be the last, the food was incredible and service was excellent.

Visited for a family meal and we left extremely happy. The food was excellent, all tasted very fresh, meat very tender and seasoned to perfection. Mixed grill was spot on and great value for money. Service from waitress Molly was top notch & we really enjoyed the Efes beer and elderflower mock tail. Excited to come back soon

Excellent Value for Money. Decent quality food items Very Nice Coffee Friendly Staff Accommodating Went for the English Breakfast Asked for no veg and no beans and if I could have extra meat and/or eggs. They said yes no problem. The breakfast was reasonably priced and it included 2 slices of toast. The breakfast came on a large rectangular plate. Coffee was very nice. In comparison I’ve been in the cornwall place next door and for a roll with bacon sausage and egg it cost the same as the full breakfast here and it was no where near as good and the coffee was definitely not as good either. My opinion obviously, you’re welcome to see for yourself but i wouldn’t go by this place for a decent cooked breakfast in Buckingham. Open Saturdays and Sundays as well!

Questionable food and service - expensive for what it is. Highly questionable on the “Authentic Turkish Cuisine” they promote on their website and advertising. We literally watched a member of staff go back and fourth at least 3 times to Waitrose to get food for the kitchen. It was quite commical watching her try to hide the food/bag as well and we were joking what she went out to buy this time. Due to the above, it was definitely debateable whether the Hummus (in particular), or most of the meal was freshly made or shop bought when we visited. My wife, (who is Middle Eastern and regularly makes Hummus) suggested it was shop bought when trying it. I’m not sure if they were short on ingredients the day we went and needs must? or if this is standard practice for them, which would be a shame for the price you are paying. I will give them the benefit of the doubt on this occasion and try them again another time.

Tasty lunch in a relaxed atmosphere

Visited Black Pepper for an anniversary dinner with my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed! Food was immaculate and the portion sizes were very generous for the prices you pay. Service from Molly and Ella was fantastic, we will definitely be returning soon!

Was a regular customer for a few months now and they all of a sudden for no apparent reason decided to serve me stale cucumbers (soft squidgy and old) in my usual cucumber yoghurt dish. This was an insult as they had served me properly the many times before. So not only was that bad but the side salad to my veggie Moussaka had rotten/dying onion laid ontop of a stale tasteless salad which usually is presented to me with the freshest ingredients with pomegranates drizzled ontop but this time no pomegranates and just old vegetables thrown together as if to send me a message saying " we don't like you anymore". I've been polite, courteous and have exemplified impeccable behaviour for the entire duration of the past 4-5 months since choosing this place and they have just decided for no reason that I'm no longer welcome. It's absolutely shocking how I went from the most loyal customer who never put a single foot wrong to someone who is now disregarded and given totally unacceptable food. I believe they have emotional issues and because of the many young staff who work there they tend to create some sort of alternate reality in their heads in which each customer is treated differently depending on their nationality. I've been going to Turkish restaurants for over 25 years and never have I had overpriced food to the lowest standard as this place. I genuinely thought this was a hidden gem like most people, due to high quality meats and veg, but they just make way too many mistakes as listed below: a) give you gone off vegetables b) forget some of the side orders c) treat you like a nobody if you're not tall white and look like you own a house in Buckingham d) they know I'm single and get angry if I don't hookup with one of their staff members.

The food was first class, very tasty. One of the best restaurant meals we have had in a long time. The service was equally good & Ella was an attentive & helpful waitress. Well done everyone. We will be back.

iv eaten mixed grills and meat platters up and down the country , the amount of meat you receive is absolutely shocking in a £20 mixed grill i received literally 1 cube of chicken, 1 cube of lamb, 1 small kofta,, and what they called a lamb chop but it was the size of a dice with no meat just fat , i genuinely thought they made a mistake because usually from any other restaurants you receive 1 full skewer of each meat etc so i contacted the shop who told me thats how they come and didnt compensate in anyway way shape or form

Recently visited, The Black Pepper, with some friends and was amazed with not only the food but, how pleasant the staff were. It was extremely refreshing to have some beautiful genuine Turkish food (and i believe to have the right to say it’s genuine Turkish food as i go a handful of times a year and the black pepper food is on par with all of the food i have in Turkey). Our waitress was called Molly and she done a wonderful job looking after us. Will definitely be visiting again.

Visited 31st October for an anniversary meal. Not very busy, but that was perfect. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and incredibly moreish. Chicken Sote will be my new go to. Divine!

Went out for a meal on a last minute date night. We were the last booking of the night at 7.45pm on a Friday night. As we got in I could see a very unhappy man stood at the bar however we continued into the restaurant to be shown a table by a very young timid lad, who was clearly quite new. It went downhill from there really. There were 3 young staff working in the restaurant that night and hats off to them for doing what they could within their little experience to try and keep a restaurant of guests happy. Drinks were ordered and I received a can out of a multipack (the ones that say not to be resold) at £3 a can this is robbery. We placed down our menus clearly ready to order and the young blonde girl was ushered over to our table to take our order by the slightly older girl. This was the point you should have let us know we would be waiting an extra long time for our food... Turns out the angry chap at the bar had waited a long time and the manager was upstairs refusing to come down and deal with any of what was going on. So this left one of the young girls in tears behind the bar as the man was quite unnecessarily rude. As we sat there another young lad came running down from upstairs and went and grabbed a bag of coal from somewhere in buckingham (guessing they'd ran out and this had caused the delay but could only guess as no one communicated this to us.) Waited 1 hour and a half for our food to the point the young lady who had been tears earlier came over and said it would be another 10 minutes and asked sheepishly if we wanted any drinks, my partner declined and I asked for another coke to then be told it was on the house (my partner would have had a cheeky cocktail if we had known prior) When the food arrived it was ok, but I had to them chase again for it and tell them it had been one and a half hours and then I was told my bill would be discounted by 50%. The point in all of this is when you sit your guests down LET THEM KNOW THERES A WAIT ON FOOD, and if your whole restaurant is complaining about said wait the least you could do as the manager/owner is grow a pair and come downstairs and deal with it yourself, not leave it to your young inexperienced staff to have to deal with as we felt so sorry for them, they were doing what they could in a very bad situation and were working as hard as they could. Just like to point out at this stage that the owner/manager did come downstairs at one point, to shake the hand of one of his pals who had come in for a meal. I didn't want a discounted meal or free drink as our intention was to just have a nice meal. Shocking management. We will be leaving it a long time before returning, if we do at all.

We vome here with friends as we like to support local businesses. When we arrived there was nobody in the place and 3-4 team members. It took 20 mins for a drinks order to be taken. Then another 20 for the drinks to arrive. The food order still hadn't been taken at this point. We then got asked what we wanted but when we asked for Whitebait we were advised there wasn't any. This was not communicated until we asked. So we ordered our starters and main. 40 minutes and we had to chase the starters. It was the same withthe main course. We wanted to order more drinks and was seen but ignored. The food was delicious and hot. Beautiful. The problem was the lack of communication from any of the front of house team. Will I go back? Doubtful because the service was so bad.

Staff were young and inexperienced. No senior staff in sight. 40 minute wait for bread. Meat was dry and salad was not fresh. You have to walk past the kitchen to the toilets and it's an absolute state. They did offer a 40% discount on our food, which is a good gesture, but will never go again.

Super quick visit , food beautifully prepared as always . Service so friendly it makes you want to be loyal to this place forever ! I am always in rush and I like my food certain way and Black Pepper always accommodates that for me ! Highly Recommended to anyone , to me personally it’s the best Turkish restaurant out there !

Went to Black Pepper with family 3 kids 2 adults, we always come here and never leave disappointed , very busy , good atmosphere, tasty food and of course as always a good bite of baklava to finish an amazing meal

I hate giving bad reviews to independent businesses but this is the worse Turkish meal I’ve ever had. We were told that they were out of Sucuk on ordering. It would have helped if we were told this when we sat down. Disappointing but that was fine. We asked if there would be any bread. I have never been to a Turkish and not received bread and dips complimentary. They said they had a bread selection would we like this with dip. We said yes (the menu was taken away we didn’t realise that this would be £7!!!! For a toasted Brioch bun top - clearly not made in the kitchen and what tasted like a potato cake) with NO available hot tomato dip. It has run out. Yet another thing. When our main meals arrived they were very average. Salad boring. Chicken a little salty. When the chips arrived we couldn’t eat them. They were so greasy. I did say that we wouldn’t be eating them and that was taken off our bill. If you want to have authentic tasting Turkish food then this really isn’t the place to go. Apart from the fact that so much of it was unavailable (a tomato sauce I’m sure could be easily made up!) it was below average in taste.

Great choice of drinks and food. Lamb shish is always a winner!

I have to say, what an impressive establishment! The staff were on point and already knew what our concerns were. They knew we wanted to enquire about halal food which they kindly stated they serve halal. The mix meze mix for 4 was so amazing and for an amazing price! I recommend the Mousakka and mix grill. Everything was flawless. My friend had a rainbow looking cocktail no alcohol she said it was nice. The staff are fantastic and put so much effort in hospitality - they are worth tipping!

What a hidden gem, we were in Buckingham for a hospital appointment & we were looking for somewhere to have a spot of lunch, we came across Black pepper cuisine! Food was absolutely delicious, well presented, staff were very friendly, polite & attentive. We will definitely be returning.

Having had a poor experience some months ago.. we returned to discover that things have only worsened in time. With a table booked for 1930.. at 2050 it took our intervention to remind the staff huddled around the bar that we had yet to receive our starters. We left disgruntled, appalled and hungry. Had a great meal out with friends at Black Pepper. The restaurant was packed as it was a Saturday night so was expecting the service to be slow, not at all. The waitresses came over several times throughout the evening to ensure we were ok for drinks. Everyone enjoyed their food. It was tasty, clean and good portion sizes. We went to this place after saw the score of 4.5. However, we don’t think we are treated as fair as other customer, maybe because we were smaller table than other bookings. We understand there would be waiting time generally, so we have been patient for kids meal then adult meal after waited more than an hour. Then we reminded 4-5 waitress/waiters for the ice cream for kids, which we ordered at the beginning together with the meal order, after waited another 25 minutes, it’s still not served, so we asked again, got the explanation “well, we have bigger tables to serve hot food, your ice cream won’t melt for another 10 minutes”. 🤷‍♀️ We certainly won’t go to this place ever again for such service attitude, never mind the food itself was merely mediocre.(maybe they aren’t cooked as the same attention the bigger table would get, so maybe the bigger table’s food do taste better).

First got to the restaurant had to wait for 4 minutes to be seated with a booked table. Had the menus when seated looked and the waited a further 13 minutes before any service. Had the drinks and were very nice. Turkish rose wine which my partner liked a lot. Food came and was well presented, rice cooked well with good flavour and the rest was very nice and tasty for both myself and partner. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to others. I rate it a 4 star but its a high 4 star..
