Absolutely incredible hidden spot in Brighton for brunch, attentive and friendly service with a comfortable atmosphere, I had the French toast which was delicious but £3 to add bacon and I only got one strip, that was the only let down for me but other then that highly recommend!

The chef should start a baked bean making business. I don't eat baked beans as a norm. I don't hate them I think I don't like the sugar they put in the sauce. The bake beans as part of the cooked breakfast are sublime. I will return and try the veggie breakfast.

Stopped in the Black Mocha for a cup of coffee ☕️ and a snack and it was nice 👍 staff friendly and helpful 😊 there was also baby changing in the W.C 😎

Lovely experience. We ordered the Not Avocado & French toast brunches and it was honestly one of the best meals I have had out. The flavours were perfect as was the portion size. The staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming. 100% will be returning.

Lovely vibe, lovely services; their "the works" hot chocolate is a must-try. I had the vegan version, and I bet the original is even more decadent.

A very pleasant café where life is good. Listening and available staff! The cookies (pistachio and classic) were both delicious even if I have a preference for pistachio, the matcha was not bitter and really controlled. The toast with eggs was also very good with quite original flavors, the vinaigrette on the salad brought a nice touch of freshness. Everything was really good and the price was right for the quality of what we had on the plate.

Such a lovely cafe with a real homely feel and delicious coffee in the beautiful North Lanes in Brighton! We took advantage of their amazing ‘£10 Tuesday’ offer which includes great breakfast options and nearly any coffee, it’s a steal! We both had the ‘not-avocado on toast’ dish which is in-fact broad bean and pea guacamole, very tasty and green. The salad had a lush dressing, our fried eggs were wonderfully done and the sourdough was a winner. We would highly recommend for a full meal or a quick bite, well worth a visit!

Recommended by our friend and so glad we came. The Farmhouse Breakfast was TO DIE FOR. The sausages, bacon, beans - everything was seasoned and flavoured to perfection. We also had the special: mixed tomatoes and nectarines on toast with ham add on- all super fresh and tasty! Definitely coming back on our next trip to Brighton!

Pleasantly surprised by this little gem of a coffee shop. Their farm breakfast is a fusion of a British breakfast with oriental ingredients, it is quite unique and tastes great. The coffee is excellent too. I’ve no hesitation in recommending it.

I came here with my daughter for brunch, a lovely cafe, and sat in the window overlooking the lanes. Food was amazing, brunch and a hot drink for £10 fantastic deal only on a Tuesday. Friendly staff and lovely clean cafe, highly recommended.

By a margin the worst espresso to ever touch my lips, tastes like a burnt dark roast from asda. Absolutely fuming for £2.80 a shot!!

Great value and lovely service.

Every time I go to Brighton to visit my good friend, we always go here and I ALWAYS get the honeycomb mocha. It's got big 'ol chunks of the stuff on top and I ALWAYS get it stuck in my teeth. But I have no regrets because it's damn tasty! The building's pretty narrow, but you can get around without too much difficulty, other than that its a great little place to visit!

Brilliant place! A real gem offering surprising takes on traditional dishes. The non avo (ethical peas & beans mashed) and egg on sourdough toast was a taste sensation.

I never write reviews, but if I could give this place a zero, I would. I ordered a takeaway oat latte, which I waited over 10 minutes for. When the drink eventually came, it was one of the worst coffees I have had from anywhere. They used cows milk, not oat, and the drink was just extremely watery and had no flavour. I'd only had 2 sips and wanted to throw it out, so I went back to double check if it was Oat milk and just to say that it wasn't too good. When I asked the nice person at the till if the drink was made with oat milk, she was very nice, apologised and went to double check. This is when the rude and patronising barista (young guy with long brown hair) said to me "well I'm telling you it was made with oat milk, what do you expect? It's mixed with coffee... if you want it to taste like oat milk I can just give you a cup of Oat milk, if that would make you happy?" At this point I looked at him in disbelief and told him where to go before putting the coffee down and walking out. The young woman on the till was friendly and nice and I feel sorry for her having to work next to such a person. He should not be working in hospitality if he cannot talk to people properly, not to mention his poor barista skills.

Easily one of my favourite cafes in Brighton. The 'not avocado' dish with poached egg is excellent and the staff are always friendly and attentive. Today, I asked for the recipe for this meal, which the staff handwrote for me. Great service and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere.

Exceptionally great coffee here. It wasn't busy when I went in and the barista made a test shot first, adjusted the grind setting, meticulously weighed out the next shot and then proceeded to pour a God Shot, right on the sweet spot, exactly what you want from a speciality coffee house. Well done!

It’s okay… coffee tastes quite watery service is pretty slow and staff can be really nice or the complete opposite. It just depends who you get serving you. I used to come here a lot but the quality of coffee kept going downhill

Best breakfast I’ve had in a while! I got the Farm Breakfast and an oat caramel latte, my fiancée got the Garden Breakfast and regular flat white. Beans were the best part but loved every bite— almost ate the plate. 11/10. Coffee was pure perfection-elixir-of-life. Definitely go! Staff were lovely!

Fabulous service in this cosy little cul-de-sac. Visited the Mocha with five members of the family, and staff were INCREDIBLY ATTENTIVE, as they cleared a space for us to all sit together. Food was served promptly and it was SCRUMMY...! I ordered the salted caramel Mocha which was extraordinary - the best mocha I have EVER tasted. I should expect so too - the shop is named after it..!? Oh! But they did forget to give us our milk for our teas,, however this was soon rectified ... 😃 My ham and cheese toastie was DELISH, just fab and very filling. My companions had the beans on toast, french toast and cheese and pickle toastie which were all great ..! Very very fancy colourful dishes. Atmos hit the spot - groovy music and bubbly staff, this place is a hidden gem ..! Better keep it hush hush 🥰 Its only hamartia was the required tipping fee for the staff which they failed to mention beforehand.? Eight pounds ..? This aside, a lovely place for a quick bite to eat.

What a great place for an "alternative" breakfast, ie not your standard fare such as smashed advocado, eggs and bacon etc. You can get eggs and bacon as extras, but there are lots of seasonal vegetables included and interesting combinations. Might not be for everyone, but I loved it. I had the special of chorizo, with roasted veg, poached eggs and pickled red onions. The coffee was also very good, if a little cold.

While it looked delicious, there is was something very off about the hot chocolate—it tasted like there had been lemon juice added. The 3 of us who ordered did not finish and the service staff could not have cared less.

This tiny little cafe is so cute! We had brunch here this week, which was really tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the chef was excited that he'd created a vegan chocolate sauce to go with the vegan french toast. It was divine and we hope our positive feedback made its way back to him! We had such a nice time, thank you Black Mocha!

THE BEST hot chocolate in town and the best team working there too! Their measures and moves to not only sustainable business but encouraging their customers is fantastic and something I hope to see more businesses adopting.

The food and drinks were really lovely! I had the shakshouka, which was delicious. But they only give you 2 bits of toast which is not enough for the size of the dish or general hunger. I asked for extra bread which cost an extra pound, this would have been okay, but they only give you one extra slice, which seems like a bit of a rip off to me, considering the shakshouka was £15.50 with feta. Although over priced, the staff were lovely !

Horrendous service!!! We ordered tea and farm breakfasts with the waiter. After waiting for 20min, we asked about our food, only to be asked by the exact same waiter that we hadn’t ordered food! He then simply suggested us that there’s nothing they could do if we still wish to order food but wait for at least half an hour, as the order will be at the end of the queue. The customer service is a joke - no one has that free time to be wasted on waiting!

Stumbled upon this place in search of coffee and was pleasantly surprised. Their coffee is really good and one of the only places that I’ve tried that does a coconut cappuccino to perfection, from the temperature, to the texture and the taste it was amazing!

What a fantastic find, we visited twice over our short stay in Brighton and we will definitely be back! The black mocha coffee was delicious but definitely not slimming world friendly. On our second visit we had brunch and wow wow wow it was incredible…….the best thing I’ve eaten in a long while! The staff were super friendly and efficient,. Lots of lovely other customers too…….oh and the coffee is great too. Keep up the great work

The black mocha and 'regular' mocha as well are something to die for. Robust, real cocoa flavor that blends in so well with the coffee. Difficult to replicate.

Shared one of each special (tomato, mozzarella, basil and nectarines on sourdough, and tenderstem broccoli, cashews, carrots, feta, and coconut harrissa on sourdough). The specials were £12 each and very delicious. The second one was a bit too oily but the first one was one of the best food I've ever had! It would have been perfect if the plugs weren't covered around the cafe as when I went we were the only ones there and we really needed to work after having our food. With such amazing food and drinks, a lot of us working hybrid jobs would definitely appreciate plug availability upstairs. Of course also by being respectful about table availability!

Came here for the hot chocolate (70%) and it did not disappoint - essentially melted chocolate and it was hot; not the luke warm made from powder rubbish most places serve. Can't comment on the coffee but the focaccia was also good

Cute cafe for a little brekky. Able to help for gluten free (intolerance). The staff was so friendly & lovely. Delish coffee & matcha lattes. I enjoyed a gluten free flapjack and a huge fruit platter they put together for me!

Did a google search for the best coffee in the area (visiting Brighton for the day) and this place popped up…coincidentally I passed it as I was visiting another store which was close by, so I had to stop and check it out! Great coffee and lovely team, would 100% return. I made two trips here in the same day because the coffee was so good!! They do a discount if you bring your own cup too.

amazing food and amazing staff!

I've only gotten coffee from here, so I can only talk about my experiences with that: I got an americano, which is my general go-to anywhere I go for coffee (if they can't get *that* right, then what gone is there for the rest?) It was smooth and velvety, not overly bitter and definitely not burnt, as coffee should be, with a real oomph to it too. In terms of atmosphere, it is a little cramped, and a few people can make it feel really busy real quick (just FYI if you have sensory issues like I do), but the staff are friendly and as carefree as one would expect from Brighton-- you know, the real Brighton I mean

Lovely quaint little place not too far from the beach front. Friendly people to interact with. We tried the shakshuka, French toast, Parma Ham Focaccia and loved every bite. My salted caramel mocha was delicious - and they even made it with decaf coffee to suit my preference. Well done you guys!

The staff in this place are phenomenal. Not only do they provide table service, but they pay attention and even remembers you from one week to the next. Menu is excellent with loads of great vegan and dairy free options. Their vegan hot chocolate with coconut milk and vegan whipped cream is one of the best I've had in Brighton.

Black Mocha is easily up there as one of the best cafes in Brighton. The staff are all lovely, chatty and friendly, and they all seem to genuinely care about good service and the work they do. Food is always delicious, tried the french toast today and it was insane - great selection of pastries, (£5 coffee and pastry is also a deal 👌) coffee is delicious, vegetarian and vegan options are good, love that they’re always driving towards zero waste and use seasonal ingredients too. Vibe is happy, busy but laid back, and for me it all just works!

Visited with my daughter Stef, she is a regular and recommended Black Mocha We had a lovely brunch and the smoothie was delicious. Will definitely visit again on my next trip to Brighton

Everything was absolutely lovely through and through, the food we got was so delicious, came pretty quick, and looked gorgeous! We had lovely lattes and amazing ice latte! Myself and my partner stopped in here during my work break while waiting for a shoe shop to open. Fantastic friendly service and uniquely tasty drinks make this place a delightful choice to stop in for a chill out. I highly recommend this to anyone walking the lanes. There are a lot of cafes in Brighton so you've got to be picky, and we choose this one!
