Sunday roast, 2 courses for £15, probably the best bargain you can get and great quality food. Ham hock bon bons, whitebait and 2 pork belly roasts. Fab food, great service, really friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Updated 6/24: Carrie (I apologize if I spelled your name wrong) took fabulous care of me each breakfast and was an absolute gem to chat with. Sharon was probably the kindest waitress I've ever had. I highly recommend checking out their Friday steak dinners and the drinks are still amazing. This place is just beautiful. The food is lovely. The drinks are elegant. It's a stunning place to just kind of linger over dessert or that "just one more" drink.

Food has usually been gr8 here but plates were missing items like Yorkshire pud and green beans which we had to ask for and portions have dwindled in size and when you ask for scotch don't just chose johnie walker because they will give you jw blue and charge 25 pound a measure 😉 ask what your getting they should warn you of these prises Sorry black iron used you many times before but prob not again Just my personal opinion

Lovely little place, hidden within the city centre. Sunday Lunch was amazing and plenty of it. Would deffo go again.

Beautifully decorated interior ,menu a little limited especially for vegetarians ,but my goats cheese starter and sea Bass was beautifully cooked and presented.meal for 5 was £190 with service charge included .

Extremely unsafe for people with dietary restrictions. My friend with coeliac disease has been poisoned with gluten after having dinner there tonight. My friend has been throwing up all night after having a meal there. Very disappointed with their service - we specifically ordered gluten free options for her and yet there was still negligence from their part. This is highly unhygienic and an investigation should take place to look into this matter. I have also seen previous negative reviews about gluten intolerance negligence if you scroll down. This is a health and safety concern.

Great experience, thanks to the exceptional service provided by Harry the bar manager and the friendly staff. The venue and atmosphere was great. Harry went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time, recommending unique cocktails, spirits and wine pairings. Their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction truly set this bar apart. Very reasonably priced too! I'll definitely be returning when next in Leicester.

Posabley some of the best beef I have ever eaten, cooked to perfection a magnificent pink melt in you mouth. The staff extremely polite and not over powering and leave a good time between course.

Disgraceful and DANGEROUS! Do NOT come here if you have allergies! Specifically asked for a gluten free breakfast due to coeliacs and were served a suspicious looking vegetarian sausage. We had specifically asked about what breakfast components had gluten in and that they would be taken off from the plate if ordered. We were assured that the vegetarian breakfast (called the garden breakfast) was gluten free, apart from the toast and were served gluten free toast instead. The server was absent for most of the breakfast (morning 17th Dec) and the day before was quite rude when we had asked about having breakfast here (directing us to book online, which didn’t work and subsequently the evening staff booked us into the system directly). We probably should have taken this as a warning shot but wanted to support the restaurant that was part of the hotel we stayed in. The continental breakfast is nice but there were no plates and no utensils to pick up the items. We had to ask for plates and I ended up using a spoon to pick up bit of the meats. The cereal didn’t have separate spoons and the seeds will have been contaminated from people getting their cereal with the spoons and putting it directly in the seed bowl. Absent and neglectful. Due to the level of seriousness of the contamination I would never come here with anyone with allergies or illnesses requiring alternative food choices. The weekend morning staff are clueless and it is dangerous!

The food was incredible however there is very limited options for vegetarians. The deep fried cauliflower was very delicious and something completely new! The wine selection was nice and large glasses. The atmosphere was good too.

Surprised this is still open. Booked in advance and asked for a copy of the vegan menu. This wasn't sent. There's literally one dish per course that a vegan can eat so no choice. The food was extremely poor an clearly pre frozen. Staff uninterested despite the place being quiet. You'll get disturbed by drunk hotel guests as the stairs to the rooms are in the middle of the restaurant. It's overpriced, there are far better options in town.

We walked in today to a completely empty restaurant, literally nobody in there but we’re told they were fully booked. Went to bistro Pierre and had an amazing lunch with friendly staff. Walked back past black iron, still nobody in there! Your loss, won’t try to go back!

A great Sunday lunch with the best service and quality ingredients. The value was amazing with a choice of 2 or 3 courses. This place deserves a massive shout out, it is tucked away behind the bar area at the Gresham and has a great selection of food available daily. The team and service make it for me first and foremost.. The kitchen team deliver elegantly. Go visit and enjoy book ahead the service was busy as the word is out!

Tried Sunday lunch here yesterday. Service was abit slow due to a lady practically being on her own so no fault of her own. The lady was lovely, very friendly. Beef was alot pinker than expected considering it was meant to be medium was cooked more rare. We ordered 2 sides with the dishes one of the sides didn't come out till half way through us eating 'pigs in blankets'. Didn't look cooked at all by time we got them wasn't very nice at all. The lady handled the situation very well, took money off the bill for us giving our drinks and sides for free. She couldn't have dealt with the situation any better amazing service. As for the food was not as nice as expected.

Only continental breakfast available, everything empty had to keep trying to find staff to get basic items replenished. Bakery items stale. Food left on floor around buffet table. No plates. Absolutely disgusting service.

The food was a little cooler than I liked but was very well cooked and presented, Taste was very good and the meal was not too expensive. Service was efficient and pleasant. In all a nice experience

Such a stunning bar, beautiful fairy lights and artificial plants. Plenty of seats, gets quite busy, due to the popularity. No wait was required before ordering. I had a lovely espresso martini, so was well worth it!

Lovely atmosphere and felt very welcoming. Good food options however wasn’t my favourite.

Food was great and tasty. Reasonably priced. Staff were awesome. Just our group was the only ones there on a Friday what should be a peak time. Maybe it was the weather or something but it's a big place with lots of space. Shame it was feeling empty.

I was served a raw pork sausage on my measly sized cooked breakfast. When i informed the waiter, he took my plate back to the kitchen to ‘double check’ with the chef. He then returned to tell me that it wasn’t raw, it was the seasoning in the sausage? No apology was given.

Great place to eat and relax. Excellent food, ate off the "Early Bird" menu. Very tasty. Friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommended 👌.

I had the whitebait to start and the fillet steak as my main (slightly expensive for the portion). Everything was cooked perfectly to my taste. I believe they could incorporate a vegetable onto the plate but that's just my opinion.

went for a family meal and i was pleasantly surprised by how much i liked the food. i had the cheddar fritter as a starter, very nice but quite oily kind of like a fancy mozzerella stick. the red onion marmalade was the star! had the muscle steak served medium, sooo good enjoyed every bite. the server was nice enough to find me some sriracha for my fries too. lemon tart wasnt bad but had a weird aftertaste so i didnt finish but overall very nice experience and my family enjoyed their food

The food was great, the service was ok nothing really stuck out but the atmosphere and energy of the place was just off. Not sure if it's because of the comings and goings of hotel guests or what but it was so flat. The decor was lovely just a shame the place didn't make us want to return

We visited Black Iron Social a few times during the December and every single time it was great. We are massive steak lovers and we finally found best place in town. We went for flank steak but instead of gravy we had Stilton sauce. Beautiful flavours and amazing quality of the meat. Eve was our host every time we visited place and she’s such a gem! Very polite and helpful. She even recognised us! We didn’t have a chance to speak with the rest of the team but she represents them amazingly. One of the best interiors in town in the restaurant and bar area. Unfortunately because we’re local we didn’t have chance to check the hotel area. Definitely will come back very soon!!!

The ambience of the place is lovely and staff was really good. In terms of mocktail, I felt it could have been a little bit better. However, I should mention that food was quite good. Overall vibe was good as well. Would recommend it if you are open to spend more as it is quite expensive.

This is a great place to hang out & meet friends & during the day it's quiet enough to get some work done. The service here is great the staff here are lovely and always go the extra mile.

Interior is beautiful but the separation between restaurant and bar in non existent. The food was mediocre and would like to get a bit more for price and the restaurant was pretty empty, even though it was a Saturday evening. No atmosphere.

The place on it own it nice! They had a good lunch deal! When it comes to the food. Starters: pork belly, it was nice but it was tad bit hard! Main: steak, it was nice but hard! Took me awhile to cut it and very chewy. The salad had too much raw onions which just ruined the salad! Chips were nice Dessert: had the brioche and the mouse!! Loved it!!! Brioche was heavenly! Good service though! Friendly!

We went for dinner on a Tuesday and almost had the place to ourselves. The food was great, well presented and the staff were really friendly.

We went to the Black Iron on a Monday evening, so it was quite quiet. The interior is fantastic and I can imagine it would be even better with more customers. There was just two of us so, the quiet was ideal. I think they must have a hotel as there was a strange reception desk at the entrance, a lift in the middle of the restaurant and people walking to and from the street. This kind of spoiled the atmosphere really. However, the food definitely made up for it and the service was excellent! We initially ordered the Sea Bass and Chicken, but we were told the fish was not available, so we both opted for the chicken. The food was incredibly tasty and the White Chocolate Dome we had for dessert was mouthwatering 😋! We also ordered some cocktails, but their menu is quite limited in that respect. I would definitely go back again, it was reasonably priced, great food and great service.

This is the 3rd time I've had dinner at Black Iron Social. It has delicious food, friendly staff and beautiful decor, what more can you ask for? Really enjoyed the fillet steak - amazing quality meat, great portion size and a creamy flavoursome peppercorn sauce to go with it. In general, for small dishes I'd recommend the scallops and cheddar fritters. I also liked the loaded fries, this is a fairly large portion for a "small plate". For mains, I've enjoyed the fillet steak and chicken breast. For dessert, my favourite is the vanilla soaked brioche! I will definitely be coming back to try more dishes

Not what I would call a restaurant just like eating in a pub. No separation from pub area, no tablecloths on tables. Very noisy, could not hear each other speaking. Food menu very confusing with various headings but no distinction between starters,mains only desserts are headed. Service very slow. Food was OK but some of it cold. Will not be returning after my gift voucher being refused because it was purchased at winstanley Arms but after complaining the girl spoke to a gentleman who said it was fine. Never again.

Such a wonderful place,the food the environment..rather exquisite! I had the fillet mignon which was absolutely scrumptious and my wife had a slow roasted pork belly which was not only delicious but also tender and succulent. Its a bit pricey but I think its worth the money.

I like this venue. Smart, upmarket ( why am I allowed in, who knows 😁). The drinks range is decent, staff friendly. Didn't eat but the food looks good.

Visited yesterday and had drinks which were superb. Spotlessly clean and great service. Recently refitted and well appointed. Looking forward to eating here soon.

Lovely new venue, excellent decor and friendly staff. 3/4 meals were spot on and food was all high quality. 1 main meal had some issues but without asking, money was taken off the bill to compensate. Issues can happen but it's how they are dealt with that matters and in this case, very well, professional and fair. I would return again and hope next time can give the full five stars.

Really enjoyed our dinner here! Food was excellent quality and the cocktails were delicious! Love that you can get small plates to share so you can taste lots of different delicious foods! Staff were friendly and helpful too. A great place!

Friends and I went for food and a catch up, food was awesome, something for everyone we ordered 10 small plates, 1 main and 3 desserts plus drinks. 4 of us £30 each very reasonable for super tasty food.

First rate in every way. Brilliant service from the bar staff and waiters. The food was superb and the quality of the decor etc was a cut above other venues in the city center. The Negroni was as good as one could make it and the wines were so much better than the garbage normally offered in the plethora of chains that we have become accustomed to in these homogenous times

Visited 6 January 2022 - birthday celebrations Wanted to try since it opened and super glad I have - cocktails were moreish (we ordered over 12 of the grapefruit margaritas 😉) and a selection of the starters, a main and dessert. Having been to their sister restaurant, I’d expected nothing less and wasn’t disappointed. The food was perfectly flavoured and cooked masterfully and deceivingly filling having ordered with our eyes and not stomach! We stayed way later than intended and were asked to move to the bar area until we wanted to leave - the team were lovely and accommodating! Looking forward to going back again later in the year

Abysmal! Two hour wait for pretty average food!

2 people, ordered stuffed mushrooms and squid to start, sirloin for main and shared the brioche dessert. Excellent food, squid was cooked perfectly, and one of the better steaks I've had in Leicester (medium rare). Presented very nicely and reasonably priced. Good service, really polite and attentive staff.

Me and my girlfriend went in for a few drinks and felt really comfortable and welcomed. The young man behind the bar (think his names jack) was very friendly and easy to talk too and asked if we needed anything just ask. Will definitely come back for a meal and more drinks.

Absolutely excellent service from Hannah. She's knowledgeable, personable yet frank and honest - by far the best service I've received in a long time. The food is wonderful and almost unbelievable value for money. The choice of starters in particular are a stand out, and the presentation of dishes elevates the food to be among the top restaurants in the area.

Great ambiance and food to match. Good value too at £12 for a fantastic herb encrusted hake and £22 for an amazing top quality surloin steak. The house white wine is tasty too and not too expensive at £7 for a 250ml glass. A lovely new addition to Leicester and its so good to see the historic Fenwicks building given a new lease of life.
