Visited today at lunchtime after a lovely walk along the canal, fairly hungry and thirsty. Only "light bites" were on offer, but we were okay about that. Stood at the bar , being ignored, for about a quarter of an hour after being told "I'll just be a minute." This despite the pub being virtually empty. Unfortunately I'm unable to comment on the food as we left without any! We did however manage to get promptly served and have a lovely meal at the busy nearby garden centre, which I can recommend.

Food wasn't great, garlic mushrooms didn't look appetising and I've never had them with onions should be creamy didn't enjoy them, the beef was like leather, cabbage starting to go brown, peas mixed in with it so didn't have a choice, should be separate, plenty of vegetables, but didn't have a lot of taste, the gravy was lovely, my granddaughter had the chicken which we think gave her a poorly stomach.service was slow. I know the pub is under new ownership and I'm hoping this is just teething problems, finding there feet, I really hope they make some improvements in the future, as they are trying hard to make this successful, and use this as constructive criticism. Wishing you all the best.

This pub is under new management. They had been open about two hours when we arrived. The welcome was great, the internal decor stylish and comfortable and service excellent. We visited the pub because we had moored our narrowboat near by. It was planned to be a quick stop......we ended up spending a couple of hours there in the afternoon and revisiting in the evening.

Not too far from the beaten track but far enough to escape the madness. Really quaint building in a lovely village. Started with a caramel cappuccino as good as any costa or starbucks. We tried the Sunday menu, which isn't huge but is filled with delicious offerings. I had the turkey roast dinner, which was really tasty. The veg was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The Yorkshire pudding was crispy and full of traditional homemade gravy and the turkey was generously portioned and sitting on a bed of creamy mash and roasted potatoes. Great views accross a lovely part of South Leicestershire. My advice would be to book ahead to avoid disappointment. We will definitely be back soon. Thanks guys you knock the ball out of the park. X

Luckily will stopped at Foxton after coming throught the locks, and moored up directly below the Black Horse... Even luckier it was the Wednesday/Thursday "Pie & Grill" nights, whereby as family of four enjoyed 2 steaks, half chicken and chips + chicken goijons, started with a camembert sharing starter, washed down with a couple of fine ales, sat in the conservatory area, very pleasant and friendly staff, really enjoyed the evening, would definitely recommend and will certainly call again if passing 😎

Disappointing after hearing good things. Took ages just to be spoken to and seated despite 3 staff behind the bar and only one serving. Food took a really long time to come out... 45 mins from ordering to starters being served, with only one table seated before us in the restaurant. There's a disclaimer written at the top of the menu, something like 'we serve fresh home cooked food so please be patient', which I think they've put to allow them ridiculously long serving times. Food was OK and the old boys singing in the next room were very entertaining. Just a shame it took nearly 3 hours to get through our meal.

Lovely meal with family members last night. My brother was a bit late but the staff kindly kept his food warm. Thank you. The desserts surprised us in that they absolutely amazing!! My only slight moan was that we were a little chilly over by the window. We probably should have asked to move but it seemed fairly busy so we didn't want to take someone else's seat. All in all though, we had a super meal out. Thank you to Sarah and her colleagues. 😃

Two couples had lunch, last Sunday and received a very warm welcome in a rather nice restaurant. But ( and there’s always a but ) the presentation of the main course was ridiculous !! It was served on a very unattractive dark plate and piled high in the form of a tower ! I asked where the roast potatoes were and the waitress said the were underneath. At the bottom were the mashed swede, on top were the ( now soggy ) roast potatoes…..the most fatty, useless slice beef I have ever had and then a Yorkshire pudding….all this, surrounded by a very dark gravy !! Now you have to try and separate. “ this lot “ before you eat..and now it looks like “ a dog’s dinner “….the chef must previously have been a builder! It was also slightly more expensive than you would pay elsewhere for a similar Sunday lunch. But, I say again, the “tower of food “ was ridiculous !

Our family booked an area in The Castle Inn for a wake. We opted for several platters (from a very good selection), a tea and coffee station and some drinks. We were able to drop some flowers and photographs into the restaurant on the evening before the funeral and area was laid out beautifully. The food was delicious and many of us plan to return and eat at the restaurant. Ewalina was particularly helpful and professional. The setting of The Castle Inn, with the views over the countryside and lots of parking was ideal. Plus people travelling from further afield were able to stay in their rooms. We couldn't fault a thing.
