We popped in today as our usual cafe was closed! I can see now why we don't visit the black cactus. This isn't the first time, but the two members of staff, who weren't busy dealing with lots of customers, weren't the most friendliest unfortunately. I completely understand they were writing the memo board and sorting that out, but I don't understand why they cheerfully couldn't have explained they would be with us in a minute. There were no happy faces etc. Then the flap Jack's we had weren't the best, but you win some and lose some. When it came to leaving, it was like we weren't even there. No goodbye, thanks for coming, nothing, and to reiterate, they were not busy serving customers. I'm sure many people have had great service there, but unfortunately we have not. So we won't be returning.... Shame!

Popped in with friends for drinks & cake. A wide selection of both to choose from and we had coffee, hot chocolate & milk shake, which were all delicious. The hot chocolate & milk shakes were presented & decorated beautifully! The cake was also delicious & very generous in size. We loved the idea of the doggy photo board & would love to come back with the doggos.

Great spot for lunch, went with family and service was great and pretty quick too. In a great area too!

The coffee is nice hence two stars but just be aware that the staff seem to be doing an experiment to see how indifferent/ impolite they can be to customers before losing their jobs or their customers. So far their experiment is achieving results as they have lost me for good.

Stopped by on cold Winter’s day and had delicious hot chocolate and equally delicious cake, served by friendly staff. Enjoyed it so much went back 2 days later for more !

This is a small but perfectly formed independent cafe with a fantastic range of coffees, and often a great selection of hot chocolates and/or milkshakes too. When I've had food there it's always been really nice and the service is friendly. Recommended as an alternative to the bland chain coffee shops in town.

We had Flat White coffees one with oat milk and one with soy milk. We also indulged ourselves with a vegan Lamington and raspberry/lemon cake. All was lovely, especially the coffees. Friendly staff, nice ambiance.

I stopped writing Tripadvisor reviews a few years ago and it’s taken something special to prompt me to return…. We recently moved to the area and wondered how we would fare looking for great coffee and good food. We needn’t have worried - this place has it all! The coffee is excellent and so is the food - an imaginative menu and top quality ingredients. I struggle to see past the glorious bacon toasties, but the sourdough toast and sandwiches are also excellent. Lots of vegan/veggie options for my wife and some great cakes. This is a very pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by. Dog friendly, too, and the staff always have a biscuit and a cuddle for Bonnie our Cocker. Give it a try - you won’t be disappointed!

We had the best brunch here yesterday! The sourdough toasties were our choice and they were fantastic! Nice big slices of sourdough bread with a very generous filling. My son had the cheese and chutney which he raved about, and I had the delicious bacon toastie which was amazing. Lovely and crispy just as I like it. Made by Dan who really got it right! The coffee is sublime and the biscoff milkshake is delicious. This great little coffee shop gets a big thumbs up from me! The prices are fair and there is plenty of parking. Well done Black Cactus, we'll definately be back!

’ve been coming here for months now and it’s never disappointed. The staff are always super welcoming and owners when they’re in too and it’s such a lovely place. I’m vegetarian so am glad there’s somewhere that offers such good food to suit me and service is always with a smile! 100% would recommend to anyone locally or just passing through for a relaxing sit down with a coffee or a nice lunch.

We stopped off in Blandford Forum on the way home from Weymouth to meet up with a friend for coffee, as we didn't know Blandford at all she suggested we meet outside Morrisons and then go for a coffee in town. However when we met her we decided we'd go into the Black Cactus. It is a lovely little coffee and tea room which has a small garden to the side. The service was good, staff friendly and happy, we had a good old 'chin wag' with my friend and 2 hours had passed just like that! The coffee and tea was excellent too. Will definitely go to the Black Cactus again when meeting my friend.

Amazing vegan cake and the most delicious pastrami toasties! 100 % recommend this place . They do vegan milkshakes too, which we will be trying next time 😋

We were in town on holiday and so glad we stopped at this great cafe - delicious toasties, great coffee and really friendly service. Very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere - would definitely recommend to anyone. The milkshakes look amazing and we’ll be sure to try next time!

We were very disappointed by the cost of the very plain toasties. For £6.50 no garnish on paper plates very greasy not worth it. Lesson learnt.
