Black Bear Burger - Brixton in Lambeth

Wow what an amazing place to have lunch, the experience was so lovely and the waitress was very attentive, the fries where super yummy, will definetley be back again soon... maybe even tomorrow . Cant wait to try more of the menu. thanks black bear

Extremely surprised at this restaurant's high rating. We waited 80 minutes for our order to even be cooked before it was delivered 90 minutes after our order was first made. Somehow everything was stone cold. The fries were flabby and tasteless. The pot of sauce that came with them appeared to have been left under a heat lamp for so long that it had melted and flattened out completely, emptying the sauce over the burger boxes and leaving a tiny smear in the box of fries. The burgers were mostly chewy, dry bread. There was an excessive amount of sauce in comparison to the burger patty itself, which was dry and overcooked. Just grim. Never again.

The food was so delicious, staff were friendly and patient. One of the best burgers I've had. There's no chance you eat there and dislike it.

Superbly friendly staff - amazing women serving front of house. My classic burger was a little bit wet and my bun collapsed ( oooh missus) but it was soooo delicious. My daughter’s miso burger held its shape and the wings ( buffalo n blue cheese) were awesome .

Jesus Christ, this a great place for wings, burgers and cocktails. It’s rare somewhere does everything so well. Black Bear really are something special. Bleeker makes great burgers, but the sides and drinks are rubbish. Black Bear can do everything.

Today the 10th of February....booked a table for 4 at 2pm...!! I booked here because I thought that this was a good burger place but after having our meal...all I can say was that I was very and most extremely disappointed 😞, well myself and all the family too..!! The burgers themselves were very small and very undersized and we payed an average of £13 pounds each plus 2 paraplegic sized portions of chips....and all the food arrived stone cold. We orders drinks , all soft drinks then to be presented with a bill for almost £90 between 4....it was just plain ridiculous really.....but never again.

We booked this and traveled on train after being sucked in from Instagram. The burgers and steak were tasty. The virgin mojito was great and elderflower cocktail was good. They have crammed in too many tables in such a small space, not enough space for more staff yet not enough staff to keep up with the demand. We waited 15 minutes before anyone came over for drinks/food order. We had to ask for them to clear our starter away, which was snatched off the table, as mentioned food was nice. We paid using the QR code app and split bill easily so this is a good feature. We then had to ask for the mini ice-creams at the end. There are also no toilets on site.

Very overrated. Came here with my nephew who was visiting. He suggested this place as he had seen it on Instagram. My chicken burger was thigh meat not breast. Portion was small. I've eaten much better elsewhere and for less. I feel this place is an example of hype and marketing over quality. And it's a little naughty to suggest a tip after service charge has been automatically added.

Pretty disappointed with the burger and fries here. Can't comment on the rest of the menu as only ordered the Black Bear Burger and skin-on fries. The burger was nicely cooked, but it was nothing special, not at that price point. A single patty burger was £12, with the option to double up for £3.50. Pretty sure Five Guys charge £12 for a double patty burger as standard, and their burger is better. Also, £5 for a small pot of fries? No. Many burger places are better than this: Five Guys, Honest, Bleecker - especially; I think their burgers are £10-£12 and are excellent. Also, why put relish in the burger as standard? You can't taste the actual meat and it just tastes like Branston pickle! Also, the restaurant was so loud. Music was loud and everyone was shouting to hear each other and it was therefore difficult to hold a conversation. Staff were friendly but one of the waiters couldn't recommend 1 or 2 patties. In hindsight, 2 should be the standard, we were still hungry afterwards. But 15.50 for a standard burger at a burger place? For a burger that isn't even that special? Won't go again. Sure, they might do other menu items well, but will I risk it? Probably not.

Honestly the best burger ever! Nothing comes close and have been a few times and each visit is amazing. The Brisket spring roll cannot be missed and all the staff are lovely. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Didn’t even get the chance to eat. Had a table booked, came early to see if we could get seated. Opening time was 5pm, came a few mins after and was told to come back in 20 mins. Came back at 5:30, guy setting up completely ignored us, i gave it 5 mins and asked if he was open….he said it was going to be another 10 mins….really rude and unhelpful attitude. Gave up and asked him to cancel table…at no point did he actually turn around and acknowledge me, whole exchange was with his back! Why bother with opening times if you don’t open even remotely on time! Had been really looking forward to this place, never again.

Honestly can not fault this place! From the sauces to the burger itself, everything was amazing. Literally the best burger I’ve ever had. You HAVE to try the Brisket Spring Rolls also. Well done to you all - Team are fabulous too!

Let's get the most important fact of there first This burger was a very good burger. I had the miso bacon one, served medium done. It was delicious, tasty, savoury. The bin was very nice too, and the fries were fine. But... I guess I'm not your usual target market, being a septagenarian 1 - no cutlery. What the.....! Burger and chips just with the fingers. And I didn't know till I was half way through that you had pots for the sauces, rather than just smothering it over the fries 2 - no salt/pepper on table. You're not a "fainh dhining" restaurant. A bit less of the pretension please 3 - the "access-online-payment-page-via-your-phone-using-QR-code" and then "enter-your-own-card-details" system and then I have to input my card details myself. And for that you add a 12.6% service charge.... And 4 - then your system invites me to tip too!!! No!

South London’s best burger without a shadow of doubt. Chicken nuggets are also excellent. Great beers on tap - Lucky to have this on our doorstep!
