Three of us called in for a coffee, 20mins after placing our order went to the counter to see if there was a problem to be told rather abruptly that our order hadn't been started because we were supposed to let them know we were ready for it...strange, never had this issue before. After 5 mins or so we were called up to collect our order but only one coffee was ready, minutes later we were called again for the second coffee, then called back again for the third coffee and one prepacked sandwich, then after another few minutes called back up for the fourth time to get the toastie. This seemed to be the case with everyone having their names bellowed across the floor for each item of their order. A little bizarre, surely easier to put everything together for one collection??? For some reason, our coffees came in paper cups instead of mugs even though we were sitting in, and the toastie came on a plate. Unfortunately, grandma had a mishap with the paper cup and the tall coffee spilt all over her and the floor, which would never have happened if she'd had the proper cup in the first place. Anyway, we ran up and asked for a cloth or blue roll, etc, so we could clean up to be told we should just use the napkin dispenser. Almost 20 napkins later there's still coffee everywhere and now a soggy pile of napkins on the table too, the place wasn't busy but no help offered whatsoever, even had to go and get a wet floor sign ourselves. None of the tables weren't being cleared or cleaned we also had to do that too when we arrived. Sandwich and toastie were not nice at all. Both had a very strange taste and were left. The surviving coffees were fine, but this was our second time to this site and both visits were terrible with zero customer service. we won't make the mistake a third time.

The worst Starbucks experience I have had. It was a hot day but the restaurant was so cold I needed to wear my duvet jacket. The waitress asked for my name in an empty restaurant and when my drink was ready shouted across the empty restaurant away from where I was sitting for me to collect it. Unwelcoming and not a nice experience.

Absolutely dreadful experience today at the drive through. 1) I showed my NHS card and they said they had taken off the discount but hadn’t , 2) I decided to pay with my 2 rewards instead- they said I needed to scan my app which they did and then used my money on the app to pay (at the I discounted price) and not the rewards (which I only discovered when I got home. I ordered 2 large americanos and they handed me a medium and when I said this was wrong, they were abrupt and said they would change them and I watched them from the window tip the coffees in to large cups and top up with water and one of the lids wasn’t on properly. I tasted them and they were so awful (insipid boiling pale coloured) so went inside and asked them to remake them which they did and then handed them to me with the odd not only properly again which I realised as the boiling coffee seeped out on my hands as I walked to the door. Absolutely atrocious and the worst service I have ever had at any coffee place

Waited ages in the drive through, in fact cars behind me reversed out. Got no apology when I finally put through my order. When I did get served, waitress forgot to put milk in, so she filled cup spilling it down the side although she did give me a small cup of just milk. However when I parked up, I took the lid off and drink was filled to the brim so much so that it spilled over me and I ended up pouring it out on the pavement. Will not go there again, should have gone to Costa or McDonalds.

Absolutely horrendous, all the nice girls have left due to feeling uncomfortable & bullied by certain workers there. So much disrespect from three of the girls that work there especially the ombre hair girl. Genuinely lost all respect for the place now & definitely do not recommend this place to anyone. Its not worth the trip, drive those extra miles to either Durham or Ayecliff to save on one of them ruining your day.

I called in to this Starbucks with my family at 19:00 on a Saturday evening, but the staff were too ignorant to even acknowledge us, so we walked out. Upon entering we stood by the till waiting while one member of staff stood tapping on a till. She didn’t speak to us or acknowledge us in any way. She could have said “I will be with you in a moment” or if she was on the drive-thru intercom she could have gestured, but she completely blanked us. Another female member of staff walked past us to enter the kitchen, and again completely ignored us. We waited to see if she would come out of the kitchen to serve us, but after what seemed like ages, she did not, so we left. My advice would be avoid this Starbucks and visit their competitor across the main road in the retail park.

I visited this store with my family, which I usually go when I am working alone, but decided to have a weekend trip. Usual staff members who now know my name and my drink order which is always nice. My daughter can’t eat gluten so the lady who served us offered a wrapped cake instead of a fresh one. This was fine due to the ingredients being gluten free. Friendly and welcoming as always. Calm cafe as visited fairly early on a Sunday morning on the way to our trip.

Slow service desire no queue. Dry, burnt toasted cheese sandwich and watery drink. No apology, just a smirk, when I politely asked for a refund, which came in as much change as she could find. Take your money to any other nearby shop, all of which are cheaper and more pleasant.

I visit this branch regularly and almost every time have witnessed people being generally rude to staff members who appear to shake it off and provide a top notch service. During busy times they are quick and efficient, they always provide service with a smile and good quality food and drinks. The place is usually clean and tidy which is understandably hard to keep on top of during a rush of customers! Lovely atmosphere to relax and enjoy your coffee whilst watching the world go by. Would highly recommend!

i have been a regular customer of this franchise since it opened, however in the last 12 months the place has turned into an unpleasant experience. the product is fine it is that the staff clearly have little time for their customers, this is strange considering the tables are usually dirty and littered. i agree with other reviews that i have heard the staff, mainly young females laughing or complaining about customers into their head sets which leaves you uncomfortable. They usually greet you with sulky faces and make you feel like a general nuisance.Despite spending a deal of money there one day when I asked for more steamed milk I was charged £1.50 on top of £3.50.I cannot justify spending any more money there. I would recommend however if you are not local driving onto Thinford where the staff could not be nicer.

The one thing you might expect when paying for an overpriced coffee is some American service, after all that is the Starbucks ethos, instead you are made to feel as if you're an inconvenience. Place was dirty, littered with used cups almost on every table, staff very slow, our warmed up buns where cold by the time the coffee was ready, then when the coffee finally arrived it too was cold, we had to have takeaway cups as they had ran out of the usual cups and we where still charged for the privilege of the usual cups.... on the plus side there’s plenty of car parking spaces because everyone else is at costa and quite frankly I wish I was too ... never again .... happy Christmas !!

Don't normally bother with Starbucks reviews; don't go there often, and they are usually about the same, but this one was indescribably awful. We were in the middle of a 200 mile journey, and the Costa over the road had a full car park, so resorted to Starbucks. Not busy, but appallingly slow service by disinterested staff who had no idea of organisation. Messed about by the drive thru as well. Stood in a queue whilst tow ladies had something on the toaster, and then decide don something else, and the server hadn't the wit to get on with others whilst their stuff was heating. Only one on making coffee, and torn between in house and drive thru. Staff constantly fiddling with their drive thru headphones and couldn't hear inside customers. Not only that but touching headphones and hair and then food... All we wanted away a small latte and a small Americano. Three times the size needed when it came, and the Americano tasted like dishwater, so weak. And they had the cheek to charge me £5.55 for the privilege. I wasn't a Starbucks fan in the first instance, but this has put me right off.

Queued just myself and a friend, waited for someone to ask what we wanted. one girl was out the back and one was cleaning tables. No one else in establishment just us two waiting and waiting while the server looks up from her cleaning duties and then walks over to another table to clean it and totally ignores us. Eventually we get served and I ask for a medium hot chocolate and she serves and charges for a grande. When I queried this I was told the next size down is just for kids! No atmosphere, nothing. Won’t return.

Sour faced young lady (who clearly wishes she was somewhere else) taking the orders. It wasn't busy at the time. Then she seemed to be glancing and making fun of a couple of customers while whispering and sniggering together with the second young lady who was making the coffees. Looked really bad. We were charged for a larger coffee although my wife ordered a small. Her response was, "oh we always sell a bigger cup when adults ask for a small, because the small is just for children really". Can this be true? They don't take Amex either.....Costas for us next time!

Visited 12 noon, three staff behind counter having a chat. One looks up and sees me, doesn't speak and continues with the conversation. Eventually one half turns and says "Yes" over her shoulder.I order and the staff member again does not speak but moves slowly to fill the order. Get a flat white, pay, no "thank you" and the story goes on. Rarely have I ever seen such a demotivated crew.

Actually, I must admit I do much prefer Starbucks coffee to Costa (which by the way is just across the road). Friendly, helpful staff and place is clean and tidy - certainly on my visits there anyway. And the coffee was excellent - again!

This is by far my favourite branch of Starbucks. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The coffee is always brewed to a high standard and nothing is ever too much trouble. I spend a lot of time in coffee shops but this is by far the best I've come across!

Starbucks remain my all time favourite brewers! The Barista service here tops that of the Darlington Durham area and I have always found them friendly and welcoming so much o I usually end up doing my own "up sale" before they offer it! There are times it gets busy and other times it is quiet - I would therefore challenge the comments about "dirty" as yes I have encountered cluttered and crumbs but nothing dirty or off putting and a simple ask for help clearing works or as others have done returning the cups and self clearing can be as good as a tip!

Starbucks is Starbucks. A lot of things are the same, with obvious regional variations. I've been in them all over the world, but this remains the friendliest. Yes, I come in regularly and I know that can make a difference, but the staff are consistently lovely, welcoming, accommodating, even if they are very busy.The place is always clean and tidy and is nice and open and airy.

I love Starbucks and have a loyalty card but to say that this branch has only been open a short time it is disappointing that it is already shabby. The wait for a coffee and cake was ridiculous and the tables were decked off with dirty cups and plates despite the place not being busy by any means :(

I'm a huge Starbucks fan, I travel a lot with my work and use these coffee shops as my anchor point.The Bishop Auckland branch is in my opinion quite a nice change to a lot of the city stores. It's located in a modern and purpose built facility in a part of town that is ripe for development. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable with the time to discuss the merits of particular coffees with you.It can be a little erratic at busy times but that is to be expected. I spend about six weeks a year and one weekend a month in Bishop Auckland and always try to get down for a coffee here.

I go in here once or twice a week to get out of the house and read the papers. The welcome is always great and I really have never had cause for complaint. If there is a delay, which is occasionally the case and rarely the staff's fault, there is always an apology, and the drinks are always good. It's just a nice place to go and a nice part of my weekly routine.

We regularly pass use the other starbucks in Durham and thought we would give this one a try. Service was slow, coffee was very bitter as if they had burned it and the price and quality of drinks for myself and my two children was poor and expensive compared with the costa over the road £6.05 compared with 4.75 for the same drinks accross the road. No wonder costa is always busy and this starbucks is always empty.

I took my 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren to bishop Auckland Starbucks for a Saturday afternoon treat. I won't be going again. We just managed to get a seat on the long bench. It was filthy and I wiped the top myself with baby wipes. We were going to move near the toy corner for a comfy seat but that was filthy too. Dirty cups left and the floor was disgusting!! As for what was on offer.... Nothing for the kids to drink really. Our 11 year old tried a smoothie @ £2.50. Hated it so I got a bottle of Apple juice. Another£2.50. No cola or orange for the 4 year old. Coffee was ok but the method of shouting out your name when it was ready meant ghost we did not hear this and it was not repeated. Only when I went to enquire did I see our coffees standing on the counter. No. Not impressed at all and definitely won't return. Not a patch on the Costa over the road.

I pop into here quite a lot, the staff are lovely, nothing is too much trouble for them & they are always pleasant & polite......it has free wi-fi & is wheelchair accessible with a disabled toilet.....

5 item breakfast. If you are going to compete with the other cafes in Chester-le-Street you have to been good. There are a number to chose from and ones that have been established for decades. Cafe 91 has been going for a few years and I have visited about 2-3 times. I ordered a 5 item breakfast for £4.75 (which includes tea or coffee) When they say 5 item breakfast they literally mean that. One rasher of bacon and one small chipolata sausage. One slice of toast. There is an option for a bigger breakfast I would have chosen had I known. The coffee was a filter coffee although it wasn't made via a filter machine. So overall the food wasn't good and service decidedly average.

After having been closed for a couple of years the pub is now due to re-open on the 31st October 2024. Greene King are saying that the re-opened pub will revert to it's former name of 'The Sportsman's Arms' (in recent years it had been named 'The Belmont'). I've given a three star (average) review as I haven't a clue yet what the pub will be like - I just thought it might be useful to post that it is re-opening soon but I can't work out how to post without giving a rating. I'm hoping to return with a five-star review soon!!
