A rubbish university I have ever heard of. This university misuses the trust of British universities education standards. This university is opened solely based for the business purposes. They never after quality rather they are after money. The use the British standards for collecting money. They never care of the students education rather they ask for if they have paid the fee. They never asked students if they are getting good education but they often if they have paid their fee. They are not education providers rather they are fee collectors. British government is requested to close this its badly damaging British education system.

My name is Aansker Sugin Vijayaraj Shyni, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance. BCU has provided me with an outstanding educational experience. The university's facilities are modern and well-equipped, offering a conducive environment for both academic and extracurricular activities. The faculty members are not only knowledgeable but also very approachable and supportive. They are genuinely invested in helping students succeed, offering guidance and support whenever needed. The coursework in my program strikes a perfect balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application, which has been immensely beneficial in preparing me for a career in accounting and finance. Additionally, BCU offers excellent support services, from career counseling to mental health resources, ensuring that students have all the necessary support to thrive both academically and personally. Overall, my time at BCU has been incredibly fulfilling and enriching. I highly recommend Birmingham City University to anyone seeking a comprehensive and supportive educational experience.

I love this place because i made a lot of friends and became more confident by taking parts in events and joining societies. I have a lot of memories here, and i am going to miss this place so much after my graduation.

Amazing venue, nice and friendly staff

This university is operated as a cash for degree mill - don't be fooled by the name nor the origin. They operate satellite universities in Asia and pretend to provide a UK quality education. However, what actually happens is they simply reuse UK materials that are shoddily prepared and passed off as quality due to the country of origin. In reality, they simply operate a facade of education for the foreign masses of other countries in the UK and their satellite schools while burdening their satellite school lecturers and UK lecturers. Their learning materials are not adapted for their overseas satellite campuses either(kaplan) and nor do they consider local nuances or contexts when teaching or grading assessments. I.E, a low quality school in a third tier city that tries to pass off as a quality UK university due to being in the UK. Avoid.

My experience of BCU was very disappointing to say the least. I was in my first year of a nursing degree when I noticed bad practice on placement. I reported it to my personal tutor, who failed to raise the concerns with the hospital and basically gaslighted me, saying it wasn't as bad as it seemed. I have years of experience in healthcare so I have a good idea of what is acceptable practice and what isn't. I escalated my concerns to the course lead, detailing what had happened, but she failed to respond. On top of this, I was told to complete the placement or risk not passing my first year, as they didn't find me anywhere else to work. Ultimately, I made the decision to leave the course and study elsewhere. I was sad about this because I had a good group of friends and wanted to continue my nursing journey there. I think I have made the right decision.

My experience with the Nursing courses at BCU was disheartening. The majority of staff consistently demonstrated unprofessional behaviour, ranging from inconsiderate to outright nauseating, which is quite surprising considering they are registered nurses. As a result, I made the decision to drop out of the course and continue my studies at another university. In hindsight, I believe it was the right move. It’s truly unfortunate when individuals pursuing education in healthcare are faced with staff members who appear to lack the fundamental qualities of respect and professionalism. In healthcare, where compassion and consideration are paramount. During my time first year, I found myself struggling with health issues and received next to no support or care from the lecturers and course leaders. If anything, I strongly believe that the lack of assistance I encountered during my studies here exacerbated my health problems. After countless unanswered emails, I decided to address the issue with the Nursing course lead and a lecturer during an open day face to face. When I expressed my concerns about the lack of support, I was met with a dismissive response, with them urging me to 'keep quiet' so as not to discourage prospective students. My response was a reminder that not long ago, I was one of those prospective students myself. In my opinion, this university falls short of expectations.

I went to the university city centre today with my friend. Actually she was international student over there and it was her very first day over there . As she was new to the area I just took her to the university just to help her out. But the receptionist was really rude and I was having my little one with me. I politely asked the security guard that do you have have any waiting area he was quite helpful and area he was quite helpful he politely said we are sorry we don't have any waiting areas for non students but again the receptionist was being nosey and rudely said she is not a student so don't allow her bit was quite terrible experience.

Everything about this place is awesome

Disgusting the staff are soo mean and treat the students so bad, last time I went to ask for support the staff was chatting together leaving me behind also they kept transferring me from one another for more than one hour

An exceptional university. Hong Xiao, David Boyd and Monica Mateo-Garcia are a credit to the built environment department. They really do set you up for success.

Some international students were unpleasant and rude to me.

Appalling, disgusting, inconsistent, inconsiderate staff members for nursing courses. I had to drop out as a result of inconsiderate idiots in healthcare related course, it was the best decision I have ever made. Though very few staff members are respectful and decent, the majority of them needs to define what a teacher is.

Unbelievably poor service. Paying them £9,500 for an online course, and I can't get a single answer from their support about how to finish enrolment. Literally throwing my tuition money at them but because none of the support departments ("Collections", "Funding", "Student support", their own support portal) know what's going on, they can't take the £9,500 and finish my enrolment.. madness. Regretting not going with my other options.

The person I was in contact with from the post graduate team has ignored my emails & just stopped responding. I understand if there’s a time limit for how long they can help you but we were in active communication & I stopped hearing back, I reached out at a later time still struggling & he has still failed to respond & has taken me off the automatic emailing list for vacancies. The professional thing to do would be to say we’ve run out of time (even though initially we hadn’t) & I don’t see what the harm in offering a little assistance or at least keep me on the emailing list meant for post grads… Don’t want anyone to get in trouble, just would have appreciated more communication/ help. At the beginning, especially during phone calls, said person was super helpful & reassuring & took the extra time.

You pay ripoff tuition fees to look at powerpoint slides made in the 2000's. The lecturers focus too much on smarter students rather than making sure everyone is on track.

(I will be most certainly coming back to this building.)

Excellent Modules for International MBA.

I got my application to attend a PGCE course refused a few days ago. they didnt want to give me any feedback about the reasons why i was not admitted (despite i asked them twice), so i got a bit angry because of that... but now that i have seen some - recent - experiences of students attending similar courses, i have to say that i am happy it happened UPDATING ON 21-02-2022 : This is not the kind of answer i was expecting from you. Instead of making your apologies, you try to find excuses... I already sent you emails (twice) asking for a feedback to the interviewer plus other two email address. honestly, i cant believe you dont reply because of "the high volume of the applications". I just believe you dont want to tell me the real reason/s why my application was refused

The worst university I would say.no support from uni and lecturer throughout the course . They just know how to ignore students and just want huge funds from us in exchange of big promises they make.l personally had a very bad experience with them. The university is just here to make money.

Millennium Point is beautiful. Went to see my niece in Matilda which was put on by Stagecoach. Theres a huge Christmas tree in the foyer.

Love it. Would be nicer if there were plug sockets in the rooms for students to charge there laptops.

I am student of BCU . Today I attend first lecture in university of managerial finance. Teaching method of professor is amazing. I understand all concept. Strongly I recommend to Indian students chosing this university for higher education.

Totally pathetic service . India staff is totally a mess . We applied for MBA and they take 2 months to give us a decission to NO . First they take interview and then again said they take second round . After both rounds they said they are not confident on our profile . For this they take 2.5 months . Due to these guys our sept intake is missed . Now we are waiting for refund and for that i am sending email to india staff but they dont even bother to reply . Never seen such unprofessional behaviour . Beware before applying to them i suggest .

The canteen on the second floor of Milennium point is a rip off. Great staff but rip off pricing.

Ok university. Facilities are phenomenal, the investment in this building and therein is huge. Issue for me: staff Tutorers and lecturers seem to skim-read your work and Mark quite lazily, they all have a quota to meet so they need to Mark 15% of their papers as a first, 30% as a 2:1, 30% as a 2:2, and so on... this is reflected in the marking. If you are a student that is considered average, you will go through uni getting 2:2/2:1 and not really know where to improve further, or why your essay wasn’t up to scratch. This is possibly because of too high volume, they take on too many students and seem to be handing out unconditional offers to everyone, wouldn’t be surprised if they crossed the road and asked the Hs2 workers to enrol. My honest opinion if you want to be well off financially and have qualifications, do an apprenticeship! If you want to party, have fun, don’t care about debt, need to learn to do your own washing & ironing and want to be approached by pushy drug dealers for 3 year, this is the place for u

I came to this beautiful university as a visiting scholar, stayed here for 2 years. Have met some very smart people and gained tremendous clinical experience. The people are lovely and professional. HOWEVER, beware of Rowan Hardy (University of Birmingham) who conducted severe academic misconduct. This is a world class learning institution that defines the future.

I was traumatised by the course leader for the public health masters as have many other students. When complaints are made nothing is done. Do not do the public health masters here until there is a new lead for this course

0 if I could 1 is just for sympathy. Poor admission service. Was turned down for paramedic science degree as apparently I haven’t met a level 2 qualification. Also can’t provide feedback due to high applications which I doubt as it’s only NOVEMBER. But hold on I’ve level 2 key skills and a level 4 HNC BTEC. Wasn’t for taking offer anyway if I was offered position just warning everyone else. Go somewhere else Don’t waste your time on these boys total JOKE 😡

Its very good uni Even the staff is very helping ...i love this university.

Quite alot of these voi scooters located across the city centre, pretty comfortable ride and quite cool way to get to A TO B. Whether it's going to college, uni, work, you can either pay £40:00 a month for unlimited travel or it works out at 20p a minute if you just want a casual ride around the city, all you have to do is, download the app called VOI, it will find the next closest scooter available to your location you just go pick it up and off you go.

What university admin department lets a student know the result of their application THREE DAYS before orientation??? Totally unacceptable as far as I’m concerned. I have declined to study here.

I booked an online test with Birmingham City University, they took my money and stopped taking my calls. Unbelievable, they can't blame Coronavirus for this.

I moved here from Coventry University for my final year in Media & Communication (Journalism) Ba (Hons), and I have to say the teaching is absolutely fantastic across the board. I spoke to other students when I first transferred to get a feel of their opinions, and they said the same. In modules such as Photography which I did not take the teaching is also brilliant. You learn so much. Great, experienced lecturers. The only thing I wish was different was that I had attended here from 1st year and more classes! We did not have very many classes, but I believe that is because it was 3rd year and we all had our major projects & dissertations to focus on.

I had a 1 year study here...no student support and very poorly organized everything.

Being an alumni, I loved studying on campus even though I chose to chose a career in something completely different. However now that I am not longer a student and require the university to assist with an important life changing matter, I have to wait for days to hear back when I have stressed multiple times that this is a high priority matter. I asked for a replacement transcripts two months ago, and haven't received it till today.

I did my nursing degree with BCU. Fantastic University. If you want to study BCU is a welcoming and very diverse university who make all students feel special. Special mention to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where I completed my placement.

After investing a lot of effort and time and working super hard I graduated with an excellent degree and have a great well paid job. I go back to the university frequently to talk to students about job prospects!

If you’ve got the grades go somewhere else these guys don’t want to teach you. They forced us to buy old text books just because the guy teaching us Yan something he was called couldn’t be bothered to buy a new one. As this wasn’t possible since the edition was so old I was forced to buy a used book that was ripped around the edge. Ruined my life this place did!

Worst University in all of West Midlands. If your thinking of doing engineering avoid this Uni like the plague, the facilities available are so out of date its a joke. Computers available for CAD design 9/10 times are not working or work so slow you cant get any work done. Teachers are clueless when asking a CAD related question was always answered with theres a youtube tutorial for that. Absolute waste of time and money. Other aspects of teaching aren't any better. How this university is still open is beyond my reasoning. When i was doing accounting before changing to engineering was told my campus would be in city centre, then once fees have been paid only to be told i will be in city centre in my second year, blatantly lying to secure students. Not to mention the gangs of drug dealers selling weed outside of university what a lovely place to go and study.

I am in my 3rd year. Please dont ever think about going to this University. The teachers are like the demonstrators, even the demonstrators are better than the actual teachers. Only one out of 100 teachers will reply to their emails. If you ask them for help personally they will give you an answer that is not related to what you asked and will go on forever. All they care about is your money, even if you fail they will keep you on the course just for the money. This is not a university but a business to rip people of their money. Most of the teachers dont know the stuff related to the subject them selves so they will tell to ask someone else.

This is the site being demolished to rebuild the athletes village for the 2022 commonwealth games.

Still a long way from ready. An ad hoc jumble of buildings and, although the interlocked campuses and other facilities are in a 'public domain', there are very few facilities of any sort (other than a few seats) that make this a public place. The best use of this open space is to walk through it to somewhere else. And as for feeling that one is in a 'Learning Quarter', pull the other one. Cafes, bookshops, cultural businesses, anything personal, social and small scale: lacking, and no physical potential for such developments. The Thinktank hardly counts: it feels abandoned and alienating. Perhaps as the trees grow they will help humananise it all a little. I see that Aston University has taken to ivy. Ivy could have an important role across the Learning Quarter.

I went to see Bernard Coard, educator, commentator, inspirational public speaker . Today's topic was about Grenada. I first met him as an educator. He wrote a short book about the Miseducation of West Indian Children. Since then the research has continued but we are still far from a solution. I went to dinner with Bernard Coard and others and he told us the story, sold us a book and went back home. Years later we heard he was arrested and then imprisoned. 40+ years on he was back in Birmingham hosted by the Social Studies Department of this University which was not in existence until recently. Birmingham University is a large Complex with subjects unheard of 40 years ago. The building we attended, Curzon is of historical importance as we have its namesake disused railway station down the road. Curzon building is large, spacious, self-contained with a large theatre, internet cafe, restaurant, sitting / studying spaces. It was a lovely place to hear how history is changing. Children and grandchildren of the group Bernard Coard studied not only organised the event but also were the audience, students who attended As for me I was inspired in a tiny cafe in Lozell's a few yards from the scene of a later uprising aka 'Handsworth Riots' to become a teacher of subjects including Social Studies. Bernard Coard, joined a number of speakers who from that platform in the theatre of Birmingham City University contributes to future changes in society.

Both my daughter's go here and they're both constantly coming home in tears from how they've been treated by university. The lack of student support really needs to be looked at. Maybe it depends on what course your doing but my daughter has been trying to talk to a lecturer on her course and it takes over 2 weeks for them to reply to an email, if they reply at all. Their equipment is not working properly most of the time or there is not enough of them. For example their photocopers my daughter went in a 9am one morning and by mid day could still not print her work. As a parent you are not allowed to be involved with your child you just have to watch them struggle because the communication around the university is terrible.

I’d give it 0 stars if I could. Absolute joke of a university, all they do is make you feel rubbish about yourself & your work. There is literally no good points about it, they set you upto fail and just constantly try and get money out of you, they’ve got no care for students with illnesses or mental health because it’s not a physical disability. They don’t care about home students and there is 0 amount support for students, lecturers literally will swear at you and make you feel like you’re beneath them and the so called support department just brush you off. Unless they’re getting something out of it they won’t help or support you, if you’re struggling what uni to pick I strongly advised you to rule out BCU. Biggest mistake of my life.

Great place for your pathway to BCU

This is a very good University where by it allows international students to have a separate campus for their studies which makes comfortable for students who find difficulties in understanding English language as other students come outside UK, for example China, Kenya, Tanzania, India and many other places students find it hard to grab the basics which in this University you are provided with full support.

Great university. World class facilities. Warm and friendly staff. Watch them climb rapidly up the rankings in years to come.

Staff are all nice apart from some secretaries, but teaching could be improved. Teachers skip too many steps and teaching is not made simple. Felt bad dropping off my daughter to such an old Uni

A good place to drink, and im NOT a student

Amazing university with knowledgeable and helpful lecturers that do their best to make you achieve the best grade you can, and there are many great recreational and study spaces in all 3 buildings (millenium point, parkside and curzon). Students form a very vibrant, friendly and welcoming community which makes you feel like part of a huge family; the uni also many varied and interesting societies that interest students of all backgrounds and specific interests.

Very good facilities - especially for art and design. The new buildings and development around eastside is amazing and the university is so diverse reflecting the character of birmingham. The tutors and lecturers and very informative and helpful as well.

A famous U.k.Univesity, I am dreaming to visit it even a once in my life.

I really enjoyed the course, but their postgraduate services leave much to be desired. I have requested a copy of a transcript three times via email and their online web form, to no avail. I need this for a higher degree. Indirectly, BCU are affecting my progress, which is ironic for a university. I shall remove this post if I receive my transcript, otherwise, I advise BCU that their alum' start to matter to them. I

A very outdated student accommodation. Many things are broken and they won't replace it. If something does get fixed then its always done badly so that it breaks easily again. Not a great place to socialise. The only place near to drink with friends is a Wetherspoons which closes at 12 No-one goes to the common room. If you're a social person then I'd recommend going anywhere else.
