Bird in Hand in Central Bedfordshire

Absolutely discusting AVOID , outdated, discusting carpets, full of dust everywhere, rubbish chucked on top of wardrobe, no towel for showering, absolutely dirty in bathroom, Blackpool gave it a run 4 it's money that's how bad it was ... £80+.... I wouldn't give £10 for staying, AVOID AVOID ... needs closing down

Nice little pub, friendly staff but could really do with some carpets or rug, the sound just echos in the place and it can be very loud.

Great waitresses (asha ) and owners.D Very friendly Great food very tasty , Only opened so loads of improvement but looking forward to another visit. Lovely atmosphere. Going to be a regular as the wanted to please and improve . Everyone should go. Lovely to have a great Indian in lower stondon .

Had a fantastic meal here xmas day with the family will definitely be visiting more often owners and staff very welcoming

Avoid at all costs. The bar was filled with loud pikeys eating shop bought sandwiches and spitting them out on the floor. Not a place to take families. Loud, rude and obnoxious.

Absolutely under no circumstances eat here! Disgusting state of a kitchen! Food is stored in a disgusting manner raw with cooked meat. All frozen food. The landlord hasn't got a clue how to run a restaurant! Also a very rude person. Bar staff are as thick as mud water. No wonder it's 2 stars...... That's a luck

We stayed here after the hotel we booked let us down. Good basic accommodation, no frills but great for a place to rest your head. Landlady and landlord went out of their way to make us welcome and really made up for the fact the brewery has neglected what could be a flagship pub. Breakfast was good and well needed after a night a flying proms. Rooms are dated but clean and functional. Good value, great staff and hope brewery rewards the landlady and landlord for all they are trying to do and spend a bit of money updating the facilities there.

This is very convenient for those staying at RAF Mildenhall. It's only about 100 yards out the back gate. The food was good and great for a large group. Burgers were good and the Fish and Chips wasn't bad either.

Wonderfull dinner. Lovely service. So nice to go out for Sunday roast. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Not expensive and it's a carvery.

i have been many times to the bird in hand for a carvery. it really is a nice meal but every one that i speak to about it dosent agree and i think that it never use to be nice so now it has got a bad reputation im sure if the people would go now they would agree that it is a nice meal

Regularly visit on a Sunday for their carvery. Lovely service and fresh food. Nice choice of meats and self service veg.

This has the opprtunity to be a great village pub, yet has never taken it up. Rather walk 2 miles to the next village than drink here. Unfriendly, rowdy atmosphere, with a welcome taken from the Slaughtered Lamb.

Desayuno inglés completo con los champiñones, croquetas de patata o black pudding!! Realmente? El desayuno todo olía como si hubiese sido tirado en la vieja grasa. Nadie de nuestro grupo de ocho podía digerir y dos eran realmente enfermo después de sólo un par de bocados! Realmente horrible comida!La cena la noche anterior de gambas y sobresaliente no estaban mejor.

Cualquier casa pública con carteles grandes publicidad de una conocida compañía de televisión por satélite de deporte, no es normalmente en mi lista de pubs para visitar algo para comer. Después de cruzar el umbral me di cuenta de que había ignorado uno de mis reglas cardinal. La señora que sirve detrás del bar pasamos varios minutos lidiar con un controlador de la televisión en un intento de satisfacer los lugareños. Después de haber sido terminado (le había dado) que pregunté si la comida estaba disponible, mi cruzando los dedos que funcionaba como ella era lo siento de informar que no había comida en esta noche! Bebida reconciliadora - dije en ese caso debo dejar ya que la comida no era mi alegría prioritario de esa noche.

I'm surprised at the poor reviews for this venue, I thought the choice of drinks was pretty good and I had an ace pizza freshly made. It was pretty busy so some people like it!

Booked this over the phone, very easy to book and pay, was told room was en-suite and breakfast included, room was basic and floor needed hoovering, bathroom was freezing so we decided to shower once we got home, instructions on bedroom door say to leave key in room on day of departure which we did, we took our case to car and returned to go for breakfast which was apparently from 8am, the whole pub was shut, no lights on, we waited around till nearly 9am before giving up and going to Star Express in Letchworth,

Location of the B in H is ideal to stop for a drink or meal & being so close to the RAF base gives a good facility. Food is not up to restaurant standard but it is good value & it is avillage pub, beer is great

I have passed The bird In hand many times and have never been in until today. I won't be going back.I went here with my wife and we went into the restaurant that is ok ( slightly cluttered with tat) and we ordered from the menu , Chilli con Carni ( £7.50) and Gammon & Chips ( £7.50) .The Chilli Con Carni tasted like it had come from a tin and my wife couldn't eat it and the gammon was a tough as old boots. The salad that accompanied it was withered.While we was the there the only other two people in the restaurant send a meal back because it was too tough.The Waitress/Barmaid was very friendly .We wont be coming back.

Was not very keen to attend this place, but my wife told me about it. So i thought i'd give it a shot and i was very pleased. Very friendly atmosphere. Well done.

Went along for a musical extravaganza. Unfortunately the evening was ruined by an irate, inept and foul mouthed landlord.

Rather stay at home. Service was slow, if not non-existent.

Stayed at the bird in hand for one night.Single room although the bed linen was clean the room was very basic like something out of the 1940s era.Breakfast was continental if you could call it that down stair in a wee cubbie hole of a room, orange juice from half full carton totally self service as no one about. Luke warm water for tea from a flask and a tea bag mik from a grotty old fridge that should be sent straight to the recycle yard. and crossiants, sorry no chance make your own toast in a small toaster half loaf of bread left lying on table. Oh and nearly forgot the cereal small kids packets no choice either as there were only to packets and one had already been eaten.On the positive side although the bar was empty and quite large, it felt warm and cosy and the beer was good.Will Definately------Not be back.

We entered this restaurant for lunch exactly at lunch time, the busiest time, or so you would think.There was not one person in there, including staff.We stood in the middle of the restaurant like lemons, waiting for someone to come out to us, no-one did. We could have helped ourselves to the bar, they wouldn't even of known.After 10 mins, we gave up and went somewhere else.Can't rate the food, as never got any.
