I ordered some tea which was nice and reasonably priced, then went back to order a sweet treat which was just okay. I didn’t like that it was clingfilm wrapped as I think that just looks tacky and doesn’t make the food appear fresh. Clingfilm isn’t recyclable either which isn’t great. The lady behind the counter was very nice though I’ll add. It’s a nice place inside but it really needs a loo. The problem with calling it a cafe is that you’d naturally expect most cafes to have toilet facilities. It dampens the overall experience knowing that you have to leave the place to ‘do your business’. Regarding the toilets issue, I’ve seen the manager reply to other reviews saying the staff toilet isn’t available to customer for health and safety reasons, which at first glance, is an immediate concern for the staff. There are a few places along the street do have toilet facilities as I’ve used them many times. The only place that I’m certain doesn’t have toilets is ‘The Nook’ which is a takeaway place so doesn’t really need them. Is there nothing that can be done with the staff toilets? Surely you can just get them risk assessed so customers can use them. There are loads of places in Hampstead with basement toilets so I can’t see there being a massive problem with them being below the premises – Hampstead Mezze on Flask Walk is a good example. Instead of saying it’s a health and safety risk, it would just be better to properly explain why the toilets aren’t fit for use, then that would hopefully stop people leaving negative reviews. The other fantastic thing about a toilet would be that, if located at the back of the store, customers would be able to glance at the selection of products on the way to the facility itself. Please do feel free to reply to this review as I’m genuinely intrigued what’s really stopping customers use the staff toilets. I think 3 stars is fair for the place in its current state. Personally, I’d love to see it more as a cafe than a shop as half the space seems wasted at the moment as you have to be let into the shop side to browse.

Walked past here today with my dog.... I was on my way to keno for a cream tea, (my weekly treat) saw a big sign outside this place offering CREAM TEA so went in and ordered.... When it came out there was a small pot of jam and a tiny very thin scone (Iceland 6 for a quid type) I asked the lady where the cream was .... She said no cream sorry (by this point I had already paid or I would of walked away) she then proceeded to ask me why I thought there would be cream and tried to lecture me on the meaning of cream tea she said 'that's what cream tea is a hot drink and a scone' I said 'and cream hence cream tea' she said 'no you have jam I asked you if you wanted jam or butter we don't do cream only cream tea......I don't know what you expect to get in cream tea ?' Ummmmmm....... Er........... Wow I don't know...... Maybe cream ? Must say thoroughly disappointed and felt ripped off to be honest..... Do not advertise something you don't have and please do not try and wrongsplain to British folk what a cream tea is.....we know what it is... we created it and know what the word cream means..... No offence to whatever country the girl was from but honestly ....... Perhaps learn the menu and what you are writing on it...... That way you are not ripping people off like you did me..... If I go to a shop to buy a chest of drawers I want the chest too not just the freaking drawers..... If I order a chicken sandwich I want the sandwich not just the chicken....... Get the idea ? Basically daylight robbery and false advertising with comedy comments by waitress thrown in for free

Having some time to kill I popped into here. Lack of toilet has been pointed out as an issue and I would agree. I ended up having to go to a nearby pub. The back is a shop which I suspect is their main business.

Hi there The ladies behind the counter were a little rude and no helpful. Also this cafe is breaking the law, in not having a toilet. wherever there is food and drinks being served, you have to have a toilet for the customers. Im a lady with a disability and needed to use the bathroom. Their used to be one and not anymore. why? thank you for listening.

Nice space and decor, cafe at front, homewares at back. Coffee good. Food a bit overpriced (it’s Hampstead after all) and slow to arrive. Lack of toilet facilities definitely a problem. I saw staff refuse to let a diabetic customer use the staff loo in an emergency. With seating for at least 16 people surely this is against regulations. And unkind.

On a recent trip to see my sister who lives locally I came across this special store . Packed full of enviable homewares with a chance to pick up a snack and coffee at the same time. I see other reviewers had an issue with price. Surprising, as they are clearly written on the menu and definitely not out of kilter with the surrounding offerings . Loved my coffee and my new basket !

No signage anywhere saying no toilets. The staff said they were using Starbucks, as the staff toilet was broken but the public couldn't use them. Am reporting them to Environmental Health.

There are a dozen or so cafes around this area of Hampstead Heath and sadly we chose the worse one of the lot. Having had a walk round the Heath all we wanted to do was sit down with a nice drink, relax and freshen up. We got our drinks and then asked where the loo was only to be told there wasn't one. I am not sure this is even legal but I will be contacting the council to find out. The staff told us they were forced to use Starbucks toilets and suggested that is what we do. Just a ten minute walk away! I will also contact Starbucks and see how happy they are with this arrangement. Furthermore we were advised that there was a toilet but even when it is working (apparently today it was 'out of order') members of the public were not allowed to use it. I asked why there was no sign advising customers that there was no toilet and suggested one be put up but was told that the owner would not allow it, presumably because they know only too well that people generally expect conveniences in a place that sells food and drink and may go elsewhere as we certainly would have. Very disappointing. Food and drinks were ordinary. You will see from my history that I seldom give a negative review but in this case I would urge you to go somewhere else.
