Big John's City in Birmingham

Disgusting, definately went down hill since last visit, doesn't look much different on outside but inside it's horrible. The photos added by the buisness do not match the pictures I took today. Run down.

Terrible. I had a diner on a naan with potato wedges. The wedges must have been on the shelf for hours and the naan bread fell apart when picked up. Never again will I visit here. Also homeless people begging for money is annoying whilst dining.

I popped in here as the menu looked quite appealing and the prices suited my pocket. Yes it's true like others I got asked for money by a beggar but he didnt become abusive when I politely refused. Food quality was perfectly edible. Quite average and absolutely fine for the amount I paid. Food quantity was good and was filling. They could have put a bit more mayonaisse on the food but the quantity of mayo received was reflected in the price paid. I paid £6 for a filling evening meal where I could sit down; which was much cheaper than elsewhere

The chips were absolutely awful, unfortunately the rest of the meal wasn't any better. The chips I can account for, due to the fact that they sit in the mezzanine for a long time.

The chicken is reject chicken, bruised and battered which is then sold to meat traders at a fraction of the cost of good chicken. When you tear the meat tou will see the bruising and chicken is supposed to be white and clean however the chicken here is bruised and bloody because it is reject chicken. Also people are eating inside that is illegal during lockdown. Very disappointed with the disgraceful food served. Chips were very nice though, despite half of them rock hard and had to be binned along with the chicken. Waste of money time and effort. AVOID AVOID AVOID. 🛑

I normally come here just before work get something to eat, they never let you down, workers here are friendly and helpful, especially the one with the braces and the short one, would highly recommend keep doing want your Doing guy's.

Decided to try here as down for a meeting and on appearances from the outside looked ideal. Seems to sell lots of various foods, I decided to order full peri peri chicken with chips and a drink. With a side of hot wings. Waiting time was ok and I took my order to a table. Whole peri peri chicken tasted fine but cutlery is plastic when you really need proper knife and fork, to pull the chicken apart. Chips were quiet tasty. I wasn’t keen on the hot spicy wings, couldn’t decided if they were maybe not freshly cooked. Value for money is good, however could improve.

Yes, it' cheap. The food is very greasy and pretty awful - so the reviews are right there. The clientele are people on Jeremy Kyle.

Never heard of Big John's before I visited. I was taken by a work colleague. I love the concept of being able to go to a place and order totally different food so everyone is catered for. The establishment is quite large with plenty of seating for everyone. It is also great for people watching outside as there are plenty of unique characters passing by the window all the time. I went for a burger and chips. Nice and simple but it was distinctly average. Nowhere near as good a McDonalds. I don't think the patties were of a particular high quality, not being at all meaty. It's a good place if you have a group of people who all want different things, but I don't think McDonald's and the like have anything to worry about.

After reading through the reviews, especially for the Fish & Chips I had been looking forward to this all day. Sadly it didn’t live up to expectations... First impressions very very good. It’s a large spacious “McDonalds Type” eatery but with a much wider menu, and very reasonable prices. Staff were all smartly dressed in uniform and the interior decor was quite modern, certainly a couple of steps above most Pizza Kebab House places. Service was also quite quick. However unfortunately thats where the good news ends - I ordered fish & chips with mushy peas to take out. I forgot to ask (and they forgot to offer) any salt and vinegar. So the chips (proper chips, not frozen smartprice fries) were tasteless. The fish itself must have been the skinniest Cod in the Atlantic, It was almost s if BJ had taken a normal cod and sliced it in half lengthwise. It was also fried in rapeseed oil which leaves a sickly sweet aftertaste. The batter was also doughy rather than crisp, and again, the lack of salt Male it bland to the point of tastelessness. Portion sizes for chips were huge but the lack of taste many this was a negative rather than a bonus.

Vomited afterwards keep AWAY THEY SELL THE RUBBISH AT THE END WHICH THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BIN the end of the meat on the rotisserie most takeaways place in the rubbish because it cannot be sold, it is lumpy and basically hard to eat. I got served lumps as a diner kebab absolutely nothing like what a kebab is supposed to taste like, more like eating stale pieces of steak. I will never go to this shop again, and everyone should not buy the kebab here, if you do then make certain they don't serve the poo that they served here in this case.

Was ok but I expected to be much more nicer and fresh but not too bad also the chicken was quite dry nd nearly cold. It should be fresh all the time as it is a Franchise.

Went at a very busy lunch time. Order didn't take long to give. Service was quick. Fish and chips were delicious. No fuss easy in and out. Place is clean, cleaning staff very active and quickly clears up as soon as you finish. Prices are ok too.

As burger joints go, this is what McDonalds wishes it was - a good spot for a spicy lunchtime fillup. Service a little slow but it was a Saturday lunchtime in the run up to Christmas, when the flow of custom can overwhelm anywhere.

He comido en Big Johns un par de veces antes y no tenía nada de qué quejarme, hasta anoche. He leído varias de las críticas menos favorables para esta amplia rama de la cadena Big John, pero tengo que decir que nunca he tenido problemas en mis visitas ocasionales. Probé tanto el pollo como las hamburguesas, que tenían una excelente relación calidad-precio y también es un excelente lugar para tomar un café barato.

And probably not the best, depends on how busy and what shift you get. Clean, efficient and fast service, not a lot else to commend.

This branch is probably the worst of Big John's in Birmingham. Restaurant is not very clean and the food quality is not up to the mark.

Was in Birmingham during Good Friday weekend. Was looking for a take way and spotted Big John's. Ordered Kabab in Naan.It was good portion size and tasty.

I visited this place today for only the second time, to pick up some fast food on the way home from work. The level of service is appalling. I had to repeat my order or parts of it 5 times during the transaction to get what I had asked for. The place appears disorganized and short staffed. Many employees do not speak English well, so other staff members are having to spend their time monitoring these - thus the delays. You need to be extremely persistent to get what you have asked for. The place is badly run and I will not be back.

Today in at Big Jonhs in Birmingham City center i encountered a whole long toe nail in my pizza which freaked me out, the staff member argued it was just a pepperoni topping and refused a refund service only saying that that he would trade it in for another one which at the time was not a satisfying idea as my stomach was already turned inside out.

After waiting 10 minutes in the queue been told waiting in the wrong queue when asked refuse to answer Staff members being rude with no manner

Good food at a good price, with excellent customer service. Overall great place to eat! Never fail to give me exactly what I want.

I’m not sure if I like it or not. I thought it was going to be something different but it’s the same food you’ll get from any other basic takeaway. Not sure if I would visit again.

I think it’s unacceptable that I had to wait more than an hour to speak to the love of my life, was profoundly heartbroken and upset about the fact that he didn’t send me picture of his meal but it’s not surprising knowing the network coverage is awful there, I would not recommend this place to anyone who’s in love and can’t speak to their partner for more than 30 minutes

Absolutely love this place and the chicken! Always end up in here if I’m in Birmingham, anyone who likes KFC get yourself in there!

Estábamos en el hospital infantil y decidido ir a la vuelta de la esquina hacia la plaza de toros para el té. Vamos al otro lado de Big John y sabía que me apetecía el peri peri de pollo que he probado un tiempo en West Brom. Elegí el medio de tamaño peri fichas peri comida vale batido de banana y mientras mi novia eligió la oferta de 2 piezas de pollo con patatas fritas y Pepsi cola. Ambos disfrutamos mucho de la cena, el servicio fue rápido como nuestra cena estaba listo en pocos minutos

Pasamos el fin de semana en Birmingham para S.A.R. El metal. Pasó por aquí hoy para el almuerzo y fue increíble. Hay mucho para elegir. El OH Y YO LOS DOS mezclados en un kebab y compartimos una porción Naan de patatas fritas. Los precios son fantásticas, como la comida. El pollo en el Kebab era similar a tandoori y las patatas fritas eran patatas fritas congeladas y no propiamente las patatas fritas. Buen tamaño de las porciones, precios competitivos, restaurante limpio y sabroso. Es un ganador.

He visitado este lugar un par de veces mientras se pasa y siempre es bastante agitado. No tienes que esperar largas colas, pero en algunas ocasiones puede tener que esperar por la comida por un tiempo dependiendo de lo lleno que está. La comida está bien, pero este gran johns me parece un poco más caro que otros que he visto. Me sorprendió que tienes que pagar por la mayonesa sin embargo.

Big John es una cadena de comida rápida, pero en mi opinión es mejor que muchos otros. Hay un menú muy amplio con un montón de hamburguesas, pollo, patatas fritas, etc., pero hay una buena selección de opciones vegetarianas como hamburguesas vegetarianas, envolturas, paninis, etc. La tienda es limpio y el servicio era rápido y servicial. last month, i found myself having to stay near birmingham childrens hospital with my wife. as anybody in that situation knows, this doesnt give a lot of opportunities to prepare your own meals so we decided to browse the resturaunts but we could decide between us what we would both like. when we stumbled upon big johns, it was great, my wife could have her chicken wrap and i could have a small pizza. while there was a small wait on most orders, the food was prepared really well and tasted really good. i think we visited 3 times and were impressed each time, this truly made our visit a bit more tolerable. oh, and vimto on tap is a plus.

Staff often get orders wrong or under/overcharge for orders, the store is always noisy people screaming and shouting including schoolkids, children and chavs (the staff tolerate it), poor health and safety (people spill drinks all the time and are not cleaned up for at least half an hour), my partner has eaten meat from here that is still partially raw with blood, you can still see the feathers on the chicken.. Though vegetarian and vegan options are available, and value for money is great.

Great value and very varied menu, with kebabs, samosa, chicken, pizza and excellent fish and chips. The masala fish is really good and I always visit when in Birmingham.

Estábamos entonces llamado por otro miembro de la tripulación también nos ignoró, optando por servir un niño que ya habían servido. La primera persona que nos llamó entonces tomó nuestra orden.

Me pop en aquí regularmente para tomarse un aperitivo o barata. Sillas cómodas, espaciosas, servicio con una sonrisa, enchufe para teléfono pero los baños necesitan más atención, ya que normalmente necesita limpieza.

Comida satisfactoria, excelente precio sin embargo, mal servicio al cliente en general se obtiene lo que se paga.

This place should be shut down or definitely need reviewing by the foods standards agency. The food was disgusting. The chips were burnt and the chicken was off...the 'cod' fish was nothing more than just an empty shell of nothingness...their service is non-existent...i cannot believe they can keep a straight face serving all this food...enter at own risk
