The intense cherry beer took my heart away. And the Currywurst was delicious too. If I wasn’t full, I would have ordered some started like the cheese sticks and the bbq chicken wings which looked so good.

No frills, good queality German food! Fantastic pit stop, before a show at the Hexagon. Big portions, so bring your appetite.

We had two mains there. Potatoes, pickles, sauerkraut and all drinks were pretty good, but as for a place that represents German cousin sausages were bad. People who tried sausages in Austria or Germany will agree with me.

Ordered a spread of dishes via JustEat - some schnitzel, potato and beef goulash, sausages (obviously!) and some vegetarian bots plus beer-battered cheese sticks to share. Everything came quickly but more importantly tasted awesome; I loved the goulash and everyone loved the cheese sticks.

Very nice and cozy German beerhouse. The food is tasty and original. I would definitely recommend for a pint and some tasty curry wurst.

I have just visited Bierhaus for the first time, it was on my list for long time. And I have definitely not been disappointed. Brilliant selection of beers. That are fresh and taste amazing. And the food here is also amazing. Will definitely come again. Excellent pub/restaurant, highly recommend a visit.

Great place to go for authentic German food. Nice atmosphere inside. You feel a little bit like little Bavaria. Good selection of German lager and my favourite Erdinger Weißbier. Very friendly staff. Food freshly cooked and delicious. Had the Jägerschnitzel and I can only recommend that. The restaurant is located near the octagon, about 10 minutes walk from the oracle. Perfect place for a family meal, get together with friends or just to have a pint of great German beer. 2 thumbs up!

The starters were amazing , main was okay the meat could of had bit more flavour in it ! The service was without a fault :)

This is THE place I recommend in Reading! When I'm at a loose end and want great food and excellent beer: Bierhaus! When I go out with friends: Bierhaus! As someone who's worked in Bavaria, I love the food: it's amazing value, great tasting, and nowhere ever does kasespaetzle! As for the beer: the selection is amazing, the Spaten is brilliant, but they also have arguably the world's best beer: Augustiner Helles! It has a bavarian bierkeller vibe, which makes it a little loud at times (so not great for that romantic night out!) But it's exciting and vibrant! Check the opening times as they're a little limited, but that just makes for a great, friendly atmosphere, enhanced by the great staff!

Best place in UK. Specially travelling from Poole to visit this place...

A wonderful bierhaus in Reading Staff were so helpful and friendly A great selection of German beers on tap and in bottles along with some Belgium beers too. The food was really good value and also very good with lots of traditional fayre available. We booked a table ahead of the evening which made it easier on arrival.Thanks for a great evening

Great selection of beer and food. Portion sizes and pricing is fantastic value. The food itself is of great quality. Not the best selection for vegetarians, something to keep in mind. Lighting is a bit too dim...but that's a small thing in the grand scheme of things. Good for a night out/catch-up or whatever.

What an amazing restaurant. The food was out of this world. The beer was so chilled. Service was excellent. Would highly recommend. Planning on going back to Reading again just so I can go to the restaurant.

Very friendly staff and authentic feel. Food is very well seasoned and incredibly generous portions with great beers on tap. Highly recommended.

We had a delivered special meal for two and it was incredible the pork knuckle was amazing the four different sausages were delicious the schnitzel and onion rings were superb the pretzel and sourkroat were just as good the portions were huge and I’m already looking forward to tomorrow’s leftovers A++++++

I've never given anywhere a poor staff review before. I ordered some drinks and food- complete silence from waitress and was served items in complete silence with her chatting with co-worker, both not looking at anyone. I would suggest the company installs a machine to take and deliver food and drink orders.However drinks and food were excellent- please sort your staff out otherwise I expect your business won't last very long!

If you like German beers, fill your boots. Fox is good value.

I cannot recommend this place enough. My only qualm is I have tried to go for lunch a couple of times when they dont open until later in the day!

A really nice discovery as we were looking for somewhere to have a quick drink before a visit to cinema. Decent beer ( so much so we squeezed in 2 beers) ,ordered a couple of items of food which were tasty & the staff & service were excellent. Look forwward to my next visit.

I mentioned that the dish number 22, the Rouladen is always beef, it is normally called Rindsrouladen, but they make it with pork which is highly unusual. The waitress behind the bar told me to go back to Germany and get it there. Incredibly rude and unprofessional.

Proper beer and great food, if you like your German grub (or are curious) then this is the place to be. Be warned, your eyes will be bigger than your belly, but thankfully they offer takeout boxes. I've missed going to a bierhaus since moving out of London, so glad to have found this place, will be back again, and again, and again....

Love the beer here, and the food is good traditional fair. Staff are always friendly, but what let's it down are the erratic opening times. Took a friend one Friday as I had told him how good it was. Should have opened at 4pm, but 4.20pm and still not open, so we went elsewhere. Not the first time either

This is one of our favourite restaurants in Reading - fantastic menu, really tasty food and vegetarian options. Also great to get a tankard of beer. Nice friendly atmosphere. Beware, the platter is way too big for two people!

In reading for a business trip and ready for food after a long day. Wasn't sure if this place offered Gluten Free options but so glad I went in to ask. The lady we spoke to was so friendly and answered all my questions and nothing was too much trouble. This filled me with confidence and I couldn't wait to relive my time in Berlin eating all the currywurst. We all had vegan currywurts and side of souerkraut. It was delicious, amazing flavour for the sauce, everything was cooked well, I couldn't stop eating the souerkraut! Those that could eat gluten had onion rings which they said were tasty. Loved that they had GF Peroni so I could have a beer with my food. I did not have a reaction to the food so can't wait to go back again. For me this place is on point. Not only was the food beautiful but the service was outstanding and made the experience memorable.

Visited on a visit from Brighton and this place is amazing the atmosphere the staff, the food wish we had something similar a tremendous find get yourself in there!!

We didn't book a table on a Saturday night so we weren't expecting much, however, the bartender was very helpful and told us he'd keep an eye on the tables and let us know when one was free - brilliant service! Really fantastic, quality selection of beers available and all at good prices. They didn't put a foot wrong with the food either! We had a really good time here and it had a great atmosphere, will be back here again. This isn't auf wiedersehen, this is just tschüss.

Very tasty and VERY filling. German food is more about hearty, tasty deliciousness. It’s not subtle and will leave you stuffed to the gills. There’s excellent value for money here, and the beer is worth the trip!

Ordered the Platter meal. Really good value and very tasty. It was for 3 of us but would have been enough for 4. Delivery a bit late but complimentary beers!

2nd visit here & both have been great. No frills but good honest authentic German beer and food. First time I had bratwurst which were delicious & the sauerkraut the best I've had outside of Germany. This time Beirhaus roulade, pork filled with cheese/gherkin & pan fried, it was tasty but unfortunately rather overcooked on one side which made it tough. Think it was probably an oversight on chefs part as all other meals have been top class. The wiener schnitzel is amazing! I particularly liked the strawberry beer and the banana beer also went down well. Would recommend a visit if you like trying different cuisines, we will definitely return.

Decidedly average! We have been here several times before and always visit if in Reading. This visit was very disappointing! Beer was not up to the usual standard and the food was pretty bland. Not sure we will ever return!

I love this place, the food is always amazing, the portions are extremely generous, price wise its not cheap but also definitely not over priced, very worth it, they do nothing but great beer, the staff are very professional and friendly, service is top quality, I cannot fault any aspect of this place! I had the sauerkraut balls as a starter, and I wasn't expecting what I got, three almost tennis ball sized portions! And then for a main I had the schnitzel, which on its own was the size of the plate! I usually find with eating at restaurants that cater for food from other countries that it can be great, but usually not quite as good as getting that food in the country its from, but with Bierhaus, you get food that is just as amazing as in the best restaurants in Germany! Highly recommended :)

We found this place just by walking around. It looked great on the outside. I am really happy I found it. The beer was great, the food was amazing and the staff was nice. Also, inside it looks lovely.

I genuinely feel like I got robbed. Dry tasteless, very expensive for poor cheap and awful food. If you can call it that. Was so bad most of it went in the bin.

Amazing food and a great atmosphere. The Steins are amazing too. Seriously recommend getting the frickles and the burger - insane amount of food! Only downside is they do not have much of a cider selection which is to be expected. Nevertheless, would highly recommend a visit.

Found this place through Just Eat, which I loved! It is now my favourite takeaway! The food is always packed thoughtfully, the portions are generous and the food is always piping hot and delicious! I decided to visit Bierhaus on Friday afternoon and the place is absolutely charming. Great selection of draught beers, they even have strawberry and cherry beers on draught! The food is just as delicious as takeaway (just as good if not better than what I had in Germany!). The staff were polite and accommodating. The atmosphere was lovely, the place is COVID secure with one way systems and clear marking around the place so definitely felt secure. I will recommend this place to all my friends and family both to visit in person and takeaway as their delivery radius is rather large! Keep up the great work Bierhaus!

Wedding Anniversary Table Booked 4pm. Arrived 15.51 resteraunt closed tables chairs all stored inside. 15.56 movement from inside as they start to open up for business. Bearing in mind they have guests booked in for 4pm you think you would have started to be ready for business prior to your guests arriving. We stood and watched as they arranged the outside area and i could not believe they were putting out dead brown garden trees as there outside decoration. FIRST RULE FIRST IMPRESSION. Personally I wanted to walk away but we decided to give them 5 mins to get ready and give it a go. Shortly myself and my wife walked up to the resteraunt and said Hi to a tall dark haired young gentleman who just grunted a reply. We went into the bar and was greeted by a lovely bar/waitress who was the only saving grace to this resteraunt/bar. Great personality very professional and would be an asset to any business. She asked what we wanted to drink and she advised us on the many variations of German beers available and we were served accordingly. We then went upstairs and noticed the lack of hygiene on the stair case and when we got to our table we were shocked at the lack of cleansiness of our table directly to which I asked to be cleaned as there was food debris and crumbs. Once they cleaned the table they started to clean the stairs which surley should be done prior to the business opening. Bearing in mind Covid 19, resteraunts have a duty of care to ensure a Clean Safe and,Legal environment. Hand Sanitiser and Guest Registry at the front door is great but that needs to be reflected throughout the business. The lovely waitress as mentioned took our food order and we tried to relax and enjoy. Starters arrived. Pretzel with Garlic butter - Great Fried Sauerkraut Balls- Cold on the inside Once we finished the starters the lovely waitress asked if we would like our mains. We said yes that would great. Within 2 mins those mains were on the table. Having managed in the resteraunt sector it means only one thing. Those meals were sat on the pass from when we served staters. One meal piping hot and the other mildly warm. During the meal the resteraunt had a guest at the bar who obviously liked to swear alot F this F that which we all know every bar gets one but someone should have toned him down while dining guests were in the bar, instead of me the guest getting up mid meal and asking him to refrain from swearing while we were dining. Staff members who were sat interacting and laughing with him while eating pizza should have controlled the situation Ultimately we paid the order because if it was a standard dining experience we would of walked as the experience was awful. German Atmosphere Authentication - Zero German Food Authentication - Way Off Overall Rating - Poor Poor Poor Saving Grace- The Bar / Waitress Head Office is my next port of call as you should be ashamed of yourselves

Wow ! My first visit but not my last Fab food , very large portions - we only had a main course , no side orders . And then we couldn’t finish our meals . The Schnitzel covered the late and underwear were delicious sliced potato . No room for dessert sadly but will get in in next time . Very reasonably priced too . All in all a wonderful experience.

We were looking for something different during lockdown and saw this pub did takeaway. Turned out to be an excellent choice. Huge portions, big flavours. The sharing platter even satisfied our hungry teens. Look forward to trying it out as a bar once lockdown is over.

As a non-beer drinker, I nevertheless love this place. Tucked away in a quieter part of the city centre, it's never been too crowded on any of my previous visits. The food is excellent - hearty portions and well-cooked. Enjoy!

Tucked away on a pedestrian precinct near the Hexagon, this bar and restaurant provides a range of German beers (mostly lagers) and German food. The beers aren't cheap but are very good. The food is also great, very filling and good value for money. No table service - order at the bar. Tables can be arranged for medium/large sized groups or couples.
