German Doner Kebab in Reading

Absolutely disgusted brought there new key bag (chilli heatwave Doritos with meat on top literally a hole bag of crisps with the smallest amount of meat basically just a bag of crisps absolutely fuming do not recommend

Tried the OV kebab. Never had anything quite like it. Very very tough "meat", as was the bread. By the end of eating it my jaw was aching. I have had vegan/vegetarian kebab meat before from supermarkets etc and this was very poor comparatively.

Food is good and comes quick. Nice seating area. Music is unnecessary and loud.

A spur of the moment visit after a few beers in town. However, the food was not to my liking. The doner tasted salty (probably because I have been on a self imposed lower salt regime for over a year). The donor spring rolls that we ordered were particularly salty. Some of the 'charm' of a doner is the slightly browned pieces of sliced meat - this meat was a consistent slightly light brown colour with no charred bits. A little off putting and definitely did not seem to be straight off the donor kebab (might have been 'stewing' in one of those metal containers you see in kebab shops where the sliced donor meat is kept - that sometimes makes the meat take on a different texture compared to the just sliced meat. We sat and ate on premises....it was not busy and there was no real atmosphere to speak of. But then again, if I were in a well known burger chain up the road, the same could be said of that place too - these places are not really geared to give the punter a 'dining experience'. It also did not remind me of Germany at all (I worked there for four years) and had kebabs there quite a few times. Would I visit again....maybe. Anytime soon, probably not.

I ordered food but never received my order even though they took the money . I rang to enquire about this and the lady on the phone said it was not her problem and that they were closing for the evening and then put the phone down on me . I would highly recommend NOT ordering food or food for delivery through this company .

The worst food of all time and an absolute waste of money. I don't think I've eaten at a worse place with such untrained staff and bad customer service. The food to begin with has false advertising, how is one vegetable patty anywhere close to 40g of protein? But well according to their staff it is 40g of protein. There's hardly one vegetable patty in the box and their staff says it's 40g of protein. I reach out to their customer service asking for some clarification and hear absolutely nothing. In addition I had food poisoning the very next day.

worst experience everytime in this branch. always serve different than order even changed the burger buns as per menu and never accepted the mistake . always saying cash only and take card after insisting.never come back.

Tldr: good service, didn't like the taste and smaller portions (for a donner shop) for the price First of all, I want to say that the staff was great. Very polite and helpful, and we got our order quickly. However, I can't say I liked the food. It was cooked OK, so this isn't a judgement on the cooks, the donner was just not nice. It was greasy and salty and the smell wasn't great at all. This may be my taste, but it is my review - other people may like it. Also, we all found the quantity on the smaller side for the price. Chip portion size in particular was tiny, and I ordered extra donner and I got a pitta (or whatever they sell is) indeed fill to the brim with donner and salad, BUT the pitta itself the way it opens doesn't leave room for lots of filling, so the whole thing was still small for the price.

Awful service. Two kebabs arrived stone cold even though we paid Deliveroo extra to have priority delivery. Called the restaurant and they took no responsibility and blamed Deliveroo for the cold food. I will never use this kebab shop again. I have had a lot of takeaways with Deliveroo and none have been cold … so disappointed

Delivered 30,000 meals over the pandaemic. Should be nominated for community champion, flaming and curry fries are really tasty, cherry tango ice blast is also really yummy. Staff are polite and always nice. Update you have to be crazy to miss this place this is where all the flavours are. Being diabetic and allergic to sugar and vegan the new plant based kebab with fiery sauce is sooo insanely tasty 🤤 the curry fired are super hot and tasty too. You have to try this place. Zareen who served me was ace. 👍

Missing item and very bad customer service especially their is a lady taking orders in reading branch of german donner who dont have enough manners to talk with zero customer service with rude behaviour.will never come to this franchise again.highly disappointed.

Food came on time. Packed well & secure. Nice del driver. HOWEVER I HATE a warm fizzy drink!! It was as though it hadn't been put in a fridge. Not happy about that. Of course I couldn't put it in the fridge to get cold as I wanted it with my meal.

I was placing the order with uber eats EC11C, the driver was fast enough, but the food was totally cold, looking like for the day before. If you could, please avoid this fast food restaurant, this is already the 3rd time when the food it's cold

Edit/additional information: 1. The Doner Gym box is perfect for my health, medical goals and is just so so good. 2. Everyone around me enjoyed their done sandwiches and fries (I can't have bread or fries) 3. Staff is understanding and if since I got to them fast enough after ordering, I request they remove the onions and they're happy to accommodate 4. For the future, would be nice to have self ordering screens have an option to remove/double certain ingredients :)

Absolutely disappointed. Will never be returning or ordering again. Chips were cold, the bread in the kebab practically started falling apart and all the filling came out. The chicken was not soft but cold and hard as if it has been fried the day or even days before. There also was no dip even though it was an option when ordering. After telling my friend this, she told me she found plastic wrapping in her food when she ordered from here a few months ago. Standards have dropped severely.

I visited today here today to buy myself a veggie kebab , the staff was extremely unhelpful and not welcoming, I asked for the menu and the lady there , rather than giving me the menu , said it is right up on the board ( the ingredients were not clearly visible as the board high up) , she then said that scan the QR code and download the app and order it online as she did not want to take my order over the counter , and to top it all , spoke to me very rudely whilst taking the order.

I ordered the OG doner, and it was a major letdown. First off, there was no sauce in it, leaving the entire meal dry and flavorless. The onions had an unpleasant odor, which made it even harder to enjoy. To top it off, the dip they provided was in a half-filled box, which felt stingy for what I paid. Overall, it was an absolute waste of money and not an experience I’d want to repeat!

Over price tastless food small portions

Had a Kebab here recently and it was quite nice. Pleasant staff, quick service and clean, attractive decor. Prices are competitive. I will be back to try other dishes.

I finished work and went to order food as Ofcourse late night craving . It was not busy and I ordered over at the self counter. Within less than 2/3 minutes my order was ready. Quite shocking . I ordered my favourite Doritos burger meal. I was absolutely upset and shocked when I got home and opened my food. The chips were cold as they felt frozen. The bun and meat were not even fresh and cold. I paid for a sauce as it came through an option, when asked for another sauce the lady at the counter mentioned it’s charged which I was like what. Another worker came from behind and spoken to Urdu/punjabi and said what she wants and the lady who was serving me replied in Urdu/punjabi that she wants sauce. I think it’s utterly rude and disrespectful while serving, especially thinking I do not understand the language when I did and staff is not friendly at all. Before a while they used to give 3/4 extra sauces and no charges ,good staff and used to be good food but now it’s so disappointing. Will not ever be returning and it’s a shame because it used to be my top places to go too.

Im living 5 min drive from kebab, delivery driver was on time, but food was cold, and its not first time...Definitely its not driver fault, just cooks gave him cold food.

Great experiences. Delicious food, clean bathrooms, pleasant atmosphere. The only issue is that they do not accept card payments at the cash register and only accept them at the kiosks.

Ordered a takeaway to be delivered by Uber eats. My food arrived freezing cold, I got in my car and drove straight to the restaurant to exchange my food only to be told they couldn’t do a refund as it’s Ubers fault the food was cold. I had a conversation with the manager who told me they would chase it up with Uber and sort out my refund but in the meantime I would have pay for my order again ( which I did ) I’ve now contacted the store 3 times this week to be told the manager isn’t available and that they would call me back ( still no call ) absolutely shocking service and to make things worse I realised the 2nd order I purchased was also wrong. Terrible customer service.

Excellent food. Great ambience. I prefer less oily food, which I get here. Also the amount of the food offered is ample and filling.

Poor customer service, untrained staff and just zero experience in handling customer in this store. The food was good but wont come back here. They have removed the card machines from the till and they force you to order at the checkout unacceptable. When trying to use a discount you have to do it over the counter as there is no such an option on the self tills! But of course, when we brought that up the lady at the till said they DONT DO STUDENT DISCOUNTS ANYMORE or th past 2 months(we had same thing last week in a different place and all was good)

The security guard was speaking with the owner of the premises and he advised him that I had to move right to the front of the store away from any other customers, in isolated area factors business cannot refuse entry for any person with a guide dog or assistant doc and the trouble is Places like yours don’t follow the rules of the United Kingdom like anyone else. I hope that people see this review and avoid your place at all cost this will be also reported to the local licensing committee of the Council.

Delicious kebab, friendly staff, decent waiting times. Update August 2024: I've used couple of times delivery option through Deliveroo and lately noticed some issue. When ordering OG kebab there is information that it comes with 3 signature sauces - this is no more the case as last deliveries came without them and instead the kebab had some sauce in it already (there is no option to specify what sauces we would like in it). Unfortunately once in boxed kebab there was burned (and dry) meat. As much as I've enjoyed it before now the standards dropped

It was my first time ordering from this place, it was a large order, definitely would never order again. Didn’t deliver all my item, when I rang the branch they going on about the 3 bag. When I said I’ve only been given 2 bag. Kept saying 3 bags, 3 bags. I kept telling them I’ve only been given 2 bags. I called in and said the will call back, didn’t hear back from them. So called again. Again they said they will call back still didn’t call back. So I’ve requested a refund. Absolutely diabolical

First was a little bit cold but that's what microwave is for. filled to the brim with beef and mix . Amazing tasting sauces . First time used and I would defo recommend. First time ever had and if you have not tried do it.

Even though the food arrived early it was cold. It seemed like the meat was pre-cut as it was very dry… not only there was no extra sauce in my kebabs, there was barely any.. they also have not added the “three signature sauces” so that was missing aswell. Overall do not recommend its nothing like a german kebab..

the food itself was actually really lovely and a lot bigger than I expected the kebab wasn't as hot as I'd like but the spring rolls were amazing and the cheesy waffle garlic bread was the new experience overall really good though don't need to order as much as you think you do the portion sizes are really good

One of the best veggie kebabs , the flaming fries and chilli cheese bites are favourites too. Dine in is better than takeaway.

Standards have dropped. Food was cold and the meat did not taste fresh. There was no sauce, salad was right at the bottom of the pitta and they pack on the donner on top which gives a very dry texture.

Hey German here. First I wanted to say is the place in comparison to the street outside is really clean. Now to the Veggie Döner itself. As I ordered my food I thought I would get some Falafel or fried veggies (Grillgemüse/ gebratenes Gemüse) next to the regular sides in a Döner. Maybe I should have looked more on the pic when I ordered because whenI got my veggie Döner it looked so empty. Especially when you pay almost as much as the meat Döner (maybe 50 cents difference) it’s disappointing when the main part is only some fried mash with peas and carrots in it. What is that? Definitely not a proper meal for 7,50£. Please improve here.

Delicious OG kebab - went with the mixed meat. The salad and bread were excellent- GDK are my new favourite. Such a shame there isn’t one closer than 30 mins drive where I live!

Best donner kebabs which are really fresh. whenever I go to Reading I make sure to have these especially doner boxes.

When u take their food to pick up and even to eat there in the restaurant the kebabs are cold , chicken and beef both . Pay just a big amount for kebabs and eat cold food. Saving the electric and gas I believe.

I just had my meals along with my family at GDK and very disappointed. We really like OG kebab meal. It was really cold food served with flaming fries and also very disappointed with taste as well. Stylish with a modern simple twist. Tasty enough menu without kebab feeling which is associated with alcohol. Would recommend as a place to stop whilst on your way about the day.

Will delate Just Eat. Cold food over weekend, refunded me a third of cost for stone cold food. Today, again cold food. You guys are worst of the worst. Bunch of money grabbing pesants.
