Bierhaus in Reading

It's a nice place, great selection of beers. 4 of us went there on a Saturday afternoon. All the staff members are very friendly and polite. It was quite cold inside, I don't think that they had the heating on. In the bathroom you could clearly see your own breath like you were outside. We had to wait for our food for about 30 mins regardless not many people were eating at that time. The menu looks very promising, but in reality I have to say that the food was a bit disappointing. Not to our liking. The best pretzel thought so far! We'll be back for the great beers and the pretzel for sure 🍺🥨

Beer is fantastic (Hoegarden). Food is simple, but good! Very generous portions.

I was sold on this venue as soon as we walked in as the glowing lights of draft Fruhli called my name. It SUNG. The bartender running the ship on Friday evening was an absolute gem, and elevated the whole soiree. Seriously, give this guy a raise. Steins, steaming sauerkraut, kitsch decor - super recommended! (Oh, and great options for veggies and vegans alike!)

Utterly amazing. Food was amazing with generous portions. Service was great. Beers were lovely. Just need to get my friend home given he is in a food coma.

Great restaurant, a bit hidden away but has become a known haunt for me in Reading. Invokes traditional German recipes, and has some really good vegan substitutes too.

Decent enough food but portions are way too big. Ok atmosphere with 80’s music playing although the place was almost empty midweek I’m sure it’s better when busy. Good selection of draft and bottled German beers.

Fantastic experience all round. The fella who greeted us was very friendly and welcoming, and looked after us all yhe way through our visit. The food was excellent, and the portion sizes are massive. You certainly get your monies worth. Great selection of German beers on tap. Definitely visit Bierhaus.

Muy agradable pequeño bar local, no hay mucho ambiente, excepto para la música de los 80 que se reproduce. Sentí un poco de frío si acaso y no especialmente una noche fría. Una selección bastante decente de cervezas alemanas de barril y embotelladas. La comida era buena, pero las porciones eran demasiado grandes, así que, siendo realistas, parecía una lucha para comer nuestras comidas. Probablemente no regresaría por comida.

Very quick delivery. As usual food was super tasty. Our favourite treat.

We liked the chilled atmosphere and the great service. Food was fair (big portions) and good price. The larger I chose on tap was not to my liking but the merlot more than made up for that. I will try the bottled beers next time (some of them I recognise from my four years (before Covid-19) working in Hannover and Essen). Will definitely visit again soon.

The staff were very friendly, the place was comfortable, and the prices were reasonable. The pork chop portion was quite large. The chicken wings weren’t to my taste because the meat was too tender and nearly fell apart.

Bien precio, de alto nivel auténticamente alemán con comida bebidas alemanas a juego. El personal era muy amable y no podía hacer lo suficiente para usted! Uno de mis lugares favoritos de comida que he visitado y genial para escapar de la regularidad de otras cocinas.

La peor experiencia que he tenido en Reading. Tratamos de ayudar y llevar a una persona sin hogar lejos y nos dijeron que no comerciáramos cervezas. La mujer morena alta y los hombres eran muy groseros y condescendientes. Esto después de gastar más de £ 50. Cuando dijimos que dejaríamos una reseña dijeron que ya no nos servirían! Evitar a toda costa.

Excellent German food ! We popped in just for a quick dinner and we were not disappointed! Staff very friendly, we were greeted straight away when walked in. Everyone seemed to be happy and in a good mood. Loved the schnitzel.

Esta no es mi primera visita a Bierhaus, pero parece ser mi primera revisión de ellos, que es una parodia. Afortunadamente la comida y el servicio aquí es tan consistente que esta revisión puede aplicarse retroactivamente a mis visitas anteriores! Siempre he venido aquí para una cena, y extrañamente siempre he estado sentado en la misma mesa en la parte superior de las escaleras, pero en la parte delantera del 'balcón'. Esta es una buena ubicación en realidad, se puede pasar por alto la zona del bar, pero estás fuera del camino de cualquier ajetreo real. Pides tu comida en el bar, pagando por ella al mismo tiempo que creo que funciona bien ya que cuando hayas terminado simplemente puedes irte. No hay servicio de mesa real, mientras que la comida se entrega obviamente a usted si desea bebidas adicionales o cualquier cosa que simplemente se dirige al bar, aunque el personal lo revisa ocasionalmente. Como tal, la atmósfera es realmente relajada. Si bien el personal no está tan presente como en otros restaurantes, siempre han sido muy amables y serviciales. La comida es el verdadero atractivo para Bierhaus - es INCREÍBLE. Recomiendo encarecidamente el Pork Knuckle para empezar y, si tienes espacio, el Schnitzel para la red. Tenga cuidado, aunque el tamaño de las porciones es GRANDE - por lo general termino tomando parte del Schnitzel y papas a casa conmigo para el día siguiente. El precio es realmente razonable, así como para el volumen de comida que se obtiene. En términos de la ubicación de Bierhaus, es realmente conveniente para el Hexagon pero está fuera de los principales caminos trillados de Reading - yo diría que es alrededor de 10 minutos a pie de la estación de aquí al ritmo 'medio' habitual, pero al estar un poco más escondido está a su favor ya que, aunque puede estar ocupado, por lo general tiene una mesa libre (aunque aceptan reservas! )

If you like German cuisine,this is nostalgic,beer is good but a bit pricey for my taste.

It could do with being a bit more German possibility music and some more decor. Food was excellent. Need German wine like from the Mosel.

This is an excellent trad bierkeller taken from Germany and plonked into Reading. As expected there is a decent range of German beers available but the food is the star. Schnitzel, brats, grillhaxe are all served on point and with decent sides. However be sure you're hungry as portions are huge.

The best place and the best service

I went in for dinner with a friend from Germany to see how he rated the food and drinks on offer. He rated the choice of beer highly, and when we ordered the sharing platter, he was impressed with the variety and flavours. My personal experience was that the beers were excellent and the meat dishes were excellent. Highly recommend.

Great German food and beers! Only complaint is the atmosphere can get VERY loud at times. But overall, great quality.

I would say this order wasn’t quite as good as usual, the schnitzel for the jägerschnitzel was much smaller than usual, the beer battered onion rings didn’t taste beer battered and the chips were over cooked. However since it was a Saturday night and the food was delivered hot and in good time and we still enjoyed it, it hasn’t put us off ordering again. Thanks again Bierhaus 😊

Bierhaus is easily one of my favourite restaurants. My order was slightly late and, by way of apology, I was given a few free bottled drinks on top of my order. Fantastic customer service, fantastic food, I will be ordering/visiting again!

The Jägerschnitzels as always, were delicious as was the salad, pan fried potatoes and rot kohl. Loved the spätzle as well. One of my favourite places for food.

Fabulous staff who can’t do enough to help. Large portions of authentic German food and of course a great selection of beer. We have never had a bad trip here.

The intense cherry beer took my heart away. And the Currywurst was delicious too. If I wasn’t full, I would have ordered some started like the cheese sticks and the bbq chicken wings which looked so good.

Where to begin to even give you a glimpse of how wondrous this place is. The staff are beyond friendly and eager to help you if you have any question. I want to thank them for the amazing experience making our celebration feel so much more warmly. My next thanks has to go to the chefs for the mouthwatering absolute amazing food that this place serves. The schnitzels are as big as your head and then some. Honestly give this place a try if you are ever in Reading.

We had two mains there. Potatoes, pickles, sauerkraut and all drinks were pretty good, but as for a place that represents German cousin sausages were bad. People who tried sausages in Austria or Germany will agree with me.

Nicest place I've found in Reading while visiting for work. Great beers, nice atmosphere and staff. Food very good, but they could be a bit more ambitious in the dishes offered, but what they offer is really nice.

Warm welcome from staff, booked a table. Nice atmosphere and decor food was well presented and very tasty, first time trying authentic German cuisine, would certainly return to try other food on the menu as we made a faux pas by ordering a Jagerschnitzel and Classic Schnitzel each, they were so big we could of shared one between us. Serving staff were very helpful and moved us to another table after a larger than expected noisy table arrived next to us, we were also given take out containers to take the leftovers home, need to go back to try other foods.

The schnitzels are a fantastic portion size (just like being back in Austria), and I love the sweet mustard dressing on the salad. The other sides were also very good. Delivery was very prompt. This is one of my favourite go to places.

Ordered a spread of dishes via JustEat - some schnitzel, potato and beef goulash, sausages (obviously!) and some vegetarian bots plus beer-battered cheese sticks to share. Everything came quickly but more importantly tasted awesome; I loved the goulash and everyone loved the cheese sticks.

This was my first order from Bierhaus and I’d definitely order again. The servings were pretty big and food was tasty.

Very nice and cozy German beerhouse. The food is tasty and original. I would definitely recommend for a pint and some tasty curry wurst.

I can't describe the sheer amount and quality of scran that this establishment distributes is a godsend and it should be a crime to not eat here till the day that you leave this earth

Great place to go for authentic German food. Nice atmosphere inside. You feel a little bit like little Bavaria. Good selection of German lager and my favourite Erdinger Weißbier. Very friendly staff. Food freshly cooked and delicious. Had the Jägerschnitzel and I can only recommend that. The restaurant is located near the octagon, about 10 minutes walk from the oracle. Perfect place for a family meal, get together with friends or just to have a pint of great German beer. 2 thumbs up!

I have just visited Bierhaus for the first time, it was on my list for long time. And I have definitely not been disappointed. Brilliant selection of beers. That are fresh and taste amazing. And the food here is also amazing. Will definitely come again. Excellent pub/restaurant, highly recommend a visit.

This is THE place I recommend in Reading! When I'm at a loose end and want great food and excellent beer: Bierhaus! When I go out with friends: Bierhaus! As someone who's worked in Bavaria, I love the food: it's amazing value, great tasting, and nowhere ever does kasespaetzle! As for the beer: the selection is amazing, the Spaten is brilliant, but they also have arguably the world's best beer: Augustiner Helles! It has a bavarian bierkeller vibe, which makes it a little loud at times (so not great for that romantic night out!) But it's exciting and vibrant! Check the opening times as they're a little limited, but that just makes for a great, friendly atmosphere, enhanced by the great staff!

Best place in UK. Specially travelling from Poole to visit this place...
