Best Chippy in North Lanarkshire

We use this chippy a lot for delivery however last night I picked up 2 fish suppers they were awful 😖 greasy fish batter soft and mushy £17_80!! went in bin sooo disappointing not acceptable

ordered a fish supper fish was all batter chips were ok also ordered a single sausage the sausage tasted horrible as though the oil needed changing went in the bin very dissapointed as i have always bought from them not sure if its under new management but i will not be back .

I pre-ordered online as I was buying four meals for my family and didn’t want a long wait in the shop. The online option costs 50p extra to use. Not really a problem and quite common when using booking software. However, when I was waiting in the chippy for my order to be made up, I noticed that there was a difference in price with what I had paid online to the menu board price. For example, my 1 piece special fish supper cost £7.50 online and only £6.95 if ordering in the shop. Thats 7% more on each item!! I queried this with the owner, whose only explanation was the the ‘online prices had gone up’!! I feel this is disingenuous and underhand profiteering. I won’t be back and will be visiting Gino’s in Millerston (01417792800) next time instead.

Recently had takeaway through just eat. Food arrived quickly, rush and tasty! Would recommend and return. Really enjoyed.

We hadn't tried this chippy in years because it was so bad, had heard that new management had turned it around. We ordered 10"Pizza and a Fish Supper we both agreed the chips had a strange taste to them, my husband had to leave some of his fish, the Pizza was average and about 2hrs later it played havoc with my stomach Will definitely not be back!!

Whilst I've been to Best Chippy a few times, this was the first time having Scampi. I've had Scampi from the award winning chip shops in Anstruther and Stonehaven, but none as good as the delicious scampi from Best Chippy Muirhead., fat and succulent and not watery at all as is often the case. Would heartily recommend, although large appetite required!

I have lived in this village for 71 years and every chippy that has been here the food has been unremarkable, but this new owner of The Best Chippy in Cumbernauld Road, has changed that. i have had 3 home deliveries now and each time the food has been piping hot and delicious, i will be buying form them regulary from now on. we usually travel (in normal times) to Anstruther, but no need now

The food when it's right, is great. But since last year, the service has been shocking. Your order is either late for collection or wrong. I've been given the wrong pizza or things missed off the order. Fair enough, we're all human and mistakes happen. However, you're lucky if you get a begrudged apology. If you want the right order I've had to go all the way back to the chippy to collect the right order. If there was any courtesy or effort to make things right, it'd be fine. Tonight my order ready an hour from when it was due for collection and stone cold. Never again.

1st time trying this chippy and it was honestly the best I've had in a long time. Only took 10-15 mins for delivery. Chips were perfect. Fish was amazing with lovely crispy batter as was the fritters. Will definitely be using this chippy again

The new owners seem to be settling in very well. The food is of a high standard - cooked for you while you wait. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The portions are very generous and the prices are very reasonable. Another great eatery in a village which has so many good eating options.

Brilliant everytime. All fresh and they go the extra mile for there customers. Would highly recommend there pizza is particular brilliant

I am a bit of a connoisseur of fish & chips. We had 3 fish suppers and a black pudding. All were excellent. 2 really nice pieces of fish in each supper and a very good sized black pudding. The batter was cripsy and nice and the chips were just right for a fish supper. I have read some mixd reviews of this place but I personally could not fault them. The staff were super friendly and helpfully and the place was very clean. If I lived in Muirhead it would definitely be my place to go for fish & chips.

Haven't been in since it changed management but found myself nearby on a shopping trip and fancied a King Rib supper. The good thing with a King Rib is that few chippies have many requests for them apparently so you can usually rely on them being made fresh. There were the usual suspects in the heater but the guy serving had to do the rib from fresh. Anyway, when I got it home the 'crispy batter' it should have been enrobed in was what I can only describe as 'chewy'. This was a first from any chippy for me. The chips were also strangely soggy. I'm no expert, but I suspect the same cause for both these things is not frying them at a high enough temperatue combined with a far too dense batter mixture for the rib. Basically, most of it went in the bin. Don't know what the chippy/cafe up the road from them is like but these guys will need to up their game if they want return cusomers.

But not any more , pass shop at any time of day when it is open and there is cooked food lying in warm display. So much for cooked to order. Gave it another try recently and no longer impressed. Chips were re heated .

We decided to try the food for the first time. I can not fault it. So fresh with amazing flavours. Left me wanting more luckily with such a generous helping I was left overly satisfied. Staff were friendly and the restaurant was spotless. First for me to give a 5 star review on any restaurant. Will definitely be going back.

Brilliant chippy, food arrives piping hot and tastes amazing. Best fish and chip shop around and beats the one down the road from it hands down

Had a few suppers from the last owners out of convenience and it was terrible. With the new management its 10x better. Staff friendlier, food fresh and tasty. Defo no1 choice of chippy in local area.

I was passing and nipped in for a fish supper. I was greeted by 2 friendly staff and on placing my order I was told it would take about 10 minutes as would be cooked fresh. Well worth the wait....2 good sized portions of fish...
