Bensons in Glasgow City

This is old school food restaurant and there is nothing wrong with that. We try different things from the menu but will go back to steak pie or breakfast options which are our favourites.

Came here for lunch with my mum and brother after a spot of shopping. Been here a few times before and enjoyed it, but not this time. I ordered just a simple tuna and coleslaw roll but the roll was just completely overloaded with tuna ended up having to take almost half out onto the plate, it was just a bit offputting. Mum ordered a chicken tikka and sweet chili panini- definitely nothing like what it was advertised as. Essentially was a sad-looking panini with some chicken in a creamy sauce- no sweet chill sauce as described and looked very bland, my mum also got no side of coleslaw with it which was advertised on the menu, Brother had cheese and tuna panini which also looked sad, he only ate half and didn't look like he enjoyed it, to be honest, we didn't blame him. Also had a Nutella milkshake which was the only good thing about our lunch. Don’t think I would return here again as just tastes like cheap microwave-reheated food- not fresh in the slightest

Popped in for breakfast I had the scrambled egg with toast Egg was lovely thoroughly enjoyed it my daughter had the fry and she enjoyed this too and she normally doesn’t have a breakfast! Staff were lovely and very friendly

Bensons is a classic old school greasy spoon diner. You aren’t going to get Michelin star food here but that’s not what it advertises itself as selling. In the 8 years I’ve lived in Glasgow I’ve been to all the Bensons various times. It’s cheap and cheerful. Great for a breakfast, panini or chips. Honestly I love Bensons! With so many hipster places everywhere now a days, sometimes I just fancy a big old portion of chips cheese and gravy!

We used to go to the Benson's every week without fail for either breakfast or lunch. My wife always ordered the Cheese and ham omelette with chips. It started to go downhill when you couldn't get your chips on the same plate. You had to order them separately. Obviously they were looking for more money. Then the final straw was when trying to order the Cheese and ham omelette with chips we were told by the waitress that it was no longer served as a lunch and only available as a breakfast. Yet you can order a full fried breakfast all day. So you can get a breakfast at lunchtime and a lunch at breakfast time, if you get my drift. The waitress did look perplexed and said it was because they were short staffed, yet this was written onto their menu. So in effect, it seems that they are planning long term to be short staffed. Mabey they didn't have a chef who could make an omelette for lunch. Anyway, we have never been back. We did complain at the checkout after leaving without ordering, but quite frankly they didn't really care. We waited in a queue for nearly half an hour to be treated like this and a have the manager walk right through between us whilst in the queue without so much as an "excuse me". Disgusting way to treat customers. Obviously neither us, our family or friends have ever went back.

I ordered a roll and square sausage and a chicken tikka toastie. The sausage was overcooked and had a funny taste like old oil was used. The toastie was nice to start with then I took a bite and felt something hard. I am unsure what it was looked like a bone. Totally put me off especially for the price. Made me feel sick.

My partner and I popped in mid week for breakfast. Music was blaring like a school disco at 9.30 in the morning. What we ordered came out wrong ( can only assume this is because the music was so loud , the waitress wouldn’t hear ). Partner pointed out items were missing from what the menu stated, was told she was wrong until we highlighted this on the menu. What was brought out looked horrible, can only compare it to plastic food you would see ina kids play set. This was their place in the forge, would never visit again or any other locations they have. Was noted that we were not the only ones who got up and walked out. Horrendous service but this is what happens when you employ mostly family and friends. Shrug of the shoulders all round. Avoid at all costs.

Love this cafe. The quality of food is brilliant. I had a steak and cheese panini and it was absolutely amazing. Staff are so helpful and the place is always busy. Prices good as well. Definitely recommend this place.

the food was amazing but the older woman behind the counters attitude stunk the way she was talking to customers and just eat drivers was shocking her customer service was shocking definitely shouldn’t be working with the public

Visited two weeks ago ( first time in a few months) and was very disappointed in the service. Visited again today and service and food were diabolical. Scones were far from fresh, coffee was luke warm. When I pointed this out to waitress scones were taken away as were the coffees. Coffees came back eventually and at least were hot. Eventually one scone was replaced and it was just the same as first two. Gave up and went to pay only to have to point out that only one scone was partly eaten. This used to be a brilliant place with great food and service, but after todays visit will not be back.

Was there on Sunday the 19/06/2022 having not been back to that area in years. What a great find this Cafe was. Friendly service, great fresh food served quickly. Could not fault it, I will be back.

My daughter and I ordered a roll each - one with butter, one without. Clearly this was too difficult as both came without butter. I also ordered tea to be served with my roll. I'm still waiting!!! My hot roll was anyrhing but. After being ignored by more than one waitress, my daughter finally got the attention of one who asked if things were ok. I answered that my roll was cold and that I was still waiting for my tea. This apparently was rude!!! The waitress did not remove the cold food or offer to replace it or get my drink. Extremely poor customer service.

Not a huge fan of La Forge, however, risked a visit to an always busy, clean looking cafe Turned out to be a good call, good service, good fresh hot meals, good price

We eat here quite a lot but today although the food was to its usual great standard, the service was unusually poor. We were seated and the girl who seated us stood near our table and knew we were ready to order but continued to ignore us. Another lady eventually took our order. Some time later some of our order was brought to the table however it had clearly been sitting out as it had cooled enough that I could have fed it to a young child without them burning their mouth. The server then asked if we were waiting for anything else and we were still waiting on our drinks and a main meal. Drinks were brought over but still now main meal. Was disappointed but food was still edible and didn’t want to say anything as we do eat here regularly and it’s not usually like this.

If I hadn’t been in before, this would be a one star. Sat down as a couple, the service was slow, but the server explained she was new, so no blame on her. I asked for the scrambles eggs with toast, then came a plate of eggs on a small plate,…nothing else, no drinks arrived, we asked for them, a pot of tea, I saw a couple opposite smell their milk, I didn’t think anything of it as they got a new tea. When my tea arrived I didn’t think anything until I poured it, the milk was off, it was floating in the top of my cup. I tried to attract attention, but nothing!. So , when I went to pay,I explained that the milk was off, ‘ok’ was the reply. I then asked about the scrambled eggs on the menu, ‘oh it comes with toast’. I didn’t get anything, but a small plate of egg!. The reply, ‘oh,ok, the girl is new’. End of conversation!. The service was extremely poor, it’s only a cafe, but cmon, how hard is a tea, toast and eggs? I like the cafe, but that was a joke! I still left a good tip, as I know they work hard, but please listen to the customer and act on it.

Poor portion sizes...box was half full, hardly any macaroni at all. Charging £5.95 for Macaroni and chips to take away....absolute robbery for this portion size. Can't have high prices and poor portion sizes...one or other. Chips tasted like re-heats and were not fresh. Staff were lovely tho, very helpful and polite. Won't be back.

Excellent service - order came very fast - Keren was a super star ⭐️. The food was delicious. Would recommend this place for a meal .

Visité la cafetería Benson en el centro comercial Forge, la comida era buena, sin embargo, la hamburguesa ordenada sin cebolla debido a una alergia venía con cebollas. Después de decir que necesitábamos la hamburguesa sin cebolla, el personal de la cocina se llevó la hamburguesa y regresó segundos más tarde después de quitar las cebollas, por lo que, por supuesto, no se podía comer. Sin embargo, el gerente Richard, cuando le dijimos, estaba más que feliz de no cobrarnos por la comida no comestible y se disculpó mucho. Volvería a comer aquí ya que la comida es buena y la gerencia y el personal del piso son excelentes, sin embargo, el personal de la cocina realmente necesita más capacitación en higiene alimentaria y salud y seguridad.

mum brought us all here for lunch we all had a good meal a lot to choose from, staff were very pleasant especially the young boy he was over asking us if we were ok , food reasonable would certainly come back but wouldn't rush,

Normalmente voy a las bensons en medio de las tiendas de la fragua pero hoy he decidido probar la de las tiendas. Hice cola durante 15 minutos para conseguir una mesa y luego esperé otros 10 minutos para pedir comida. Finalmente obtuve la comida que no estaba más caliente. No vuelva a consultar con el personal para ver si todo está bien. Hacen esto en las bensons en el principal, así que no ¿por qué el de las tiendas? Me quedaré con el otro en el futuro

Clean premisses friendly staff spacious seating service very efficient food average for a cafe reasonable prices ideal if you are the market shopping good variety menu.

Total disgrace, not got a clue on cust service, reheats served cold. Could go on but they appreciate and keep staff that bad mouth them.

Execellent service from 3 people - Dylan , Chloe and Tigan , top marks to them , very friendly and excellent customer service skills . Food was decent too .

El sábado pasado fui a desayunar tarde, así que tenía mucha hambre y pedí huevos revueltos y tostadas francesas dulces. Después de un rato llegó la tostada francesa (que encontré comida extraña dulce primero) así que estaba esperando los huevos. Los minutos continúan y nada llega a mi mesa y, de repente, el servidor me ve que no estoy comiendo y me pregunta por qué no estoy comiendo, lo que le dije que estaba esperando los huevos, y luego en un modo grosero dice: 'Deberías haber ordenado otra cosa entonces '. Cuando dije que ordené ambas, ella dijo que no, ¡haciéndome mentirosa! Nunca me sentí tan insultado en mi vida. No voy a volver de nuevo. Los servidores no deberían comportarse así. Daría una calificación negativa si pudiera.

Llevé a mi nieta aquí la primera vez que estuve y definitivamente no volveré, era tarde pero estaba muy tranquilo. La mesa estaba llena de migas sucias a pesar de que el personal estaba parado haciendo nada. La sopa estaba bien, mis nietas las tiras de pollo estaban grasientas pero frías, las papas fritas tampoco eran geniales y los frijoles que ni siquiera podías comer estaban congelados y fríos, lo único que era bueno era el helado y eso era porque no cocinarlo también cuando estaba allí había otra familia en el hombre que se quejaba de su comida y se fue sin comerla, ya que digo que no volverá y no es exactamente barato, necesitan juntar sus ideas

First time ever in benson's cafe and I was not disappointed. Service was fantastic, so friendly and professional. Food was fantastic and excellent value will definitely be back.

Great food,great service, good menu and reasonable prices. Will definitely be back and would recommend to visit.

Fui aquí el primero de abril de 2019, esperando a mi mamá. Pedí café y macarrones con queso. Esperé un rato al café. Lo vi sentado cuando la niña vino hacía frío. Le dije a la niña que se lo había quitado. en la taza, cuando el mac y el queso vinieron, las papas fritas se recalentaron, el mac estaba todo pegado entre sí, sin volver a revisar, ya que estaban muy ocupados hablando entre ellos. . las chicas realmente necesitan aprender el servicio de atención al cliente y sonreír, la chica que trabaja en la cocina estaba colgando de la mesa hablando. . Soy un cliente habitual y esta es la segunda vez que he tenido una mala comida y un servicio no excelente. . He tomado fotos de la comida que veré más abajo. . realmente no es felizMarie

Always come in here when we go to the Forge. Been there for years. Staff pleasant, always a plateful. Yum chips and curry sauce plus a buttered roll. Scrumptious.

Usually quite busy Must all be lazy people who go won't make themselves as much as a cup of tea Food average and for what it is quite pricey My roll didn't even have butter on it Not for me I'm afraid

Went here with my girlfriend and nephew for a good feed before a football game. Great filling food and good prices. Service was first class too. I find these cafes better than most places for a good proper meal.

on Friday 1/12/17 I visited Bensons for lunch , I had a baked pot with tuna, it came with salad. I have eaten there before, On this occasion the tuna was very dry, I had to ask for extra mayo, the salad came with a Half of cherry tomato , I raised this at the payment till. I was informed the salad come with half of a cherry tomato ......HOW MEAN. It wasnt cheap for a Baked pot..so i felt it wasnt good value.

Mi esposa y yo hemos estado viniendo aquí por un tiempo y mi última revisión fue un 5 estrellas, pero visitamos el sábado y tuve una experiencia horrible.

Metimos en para un bocado rápido entre tiendas. Pedimos una papa al horno y chili por £4. 95, grande y preciosa con patatas al horno de un tamaño decente y porción de chili. No hay que esperar mucho tiempo para mi pedido. El personal es muy amable. Mi madre decidimos coger una porción de patatas fritas y salsa de curry, ella pidió un tamaño de la porción, pero era más como un grande. Debo estar en el mercado en el futuro volvería a comer allí de nuevo. Gracias

The portions are very poor considering what you pay. I stopped coming and bought my own breakfast packs out the shop. Fills u up more and u get more for ur money. I won't be back here. Shame aswell used to visit every Saturday

Always come here and never feel disappointed. Comfort food at its best. Chips cheese and curry sauce is a personal favourite

We decided to have a brunch before going to near by Football Stadia at Celtic Park. Have some nice pastries and the Cappuccino where lovely. Friendly helpful staff and nice spot within the Parkhead Forge shopping Centre. Tasty French Toast and some Danish Pastries.

Siempre en el fútbol antes de pop y llegué con mi hija el sábado. Comida siempre es deliciosa. Tuve un desayuno que estaba perfectamente preparada. Mi hija tenía el mac y queso y era muy placentero.

Was desperate for food! Just needed something and there they were. So we called in and had a quick meal - didn't look much but by the time we left, we were both full. Service was ok, price was reasonable and surroundings a bit average.

Used to come regularly with family and decided to get some food with the boyfriend who had never been. Can't tell you how embarrassed I was. We arrived and we're told to find a seat and got handed menus was terrible. We then got the full monty and the sausage and bacon was cooked solid and was overall unpleasant. As someone who works in the profession I am severely disappointed never mind the fact that we found chewing gum stuck under the table and had full view of the "chef" microwaving food. Won't be returning after today.

Went here for breakfast and it was good. Service was fast and there were a vast amount of breakfast options to choose from. The rest of the menu is varied also which is good. Such a nicer feel about the place now that it has been redecorated and partly moved into another space. Would recommend.

we often go here for the desserts/coffee when out shopping and usually love the caramel apple pie.On the previous visit it was cold, so on Saturdays visit I highlighted that I wanted both pies to be piping hot, mines arrived cold, my husbands was cool.It was busy and so we just ate them but then highlighted this to waitress, disappointed that I had to ask for it hot in the first place then it still wasnt done...small thing but has put me off retruning,shame.

First time visit. It seems to be very popular as it was quite busy when we arrived however we got seated fairly quickly. We were just in for a bite to eat and both opted for the Pig n Egg Toasted Brioche Bun with a cup of tea. The bun was tasty - egg, bacon, cheese and salsa sauce? Individual tea pots which was nice. Overall £10.90. The Tea is well priced at £1.40 however £3.95 for the roll was a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Have eaten here often when shopping at the forge it's got great prices good food friendly staff also good for kids

I always visit Bensons when in the area, food is brilliant, the cafe is kept very clean & everything is reasonably priced. What more could you want when grabbing a spot of lunch!

great wee place to pop into if you are in the Forge shopping precinct. You should try and pop in if you need a quick fill up. Definitely try the chips with stew gravy and a cup of tea and you will be set right for the day. Staff really friendly, service is generally very quick and the food excellent.

Visited there with my family. I had tasty Macaroni cheese with salad. Friendly staff, quick services, cleanliness, good value.

Went for a quick lunch while waiting another shop to open. Was seated and served in no time. Was served by a lovely girl Kim i think her names was .. very polite and knew her job well ...

popped in while shopping for lunch, very busy but we were seated within minutes, table cleaned and order taken. The staff , mainly youngsters, are amazing, so friendly, helpful and very efficient. Ordered burgers which were pipping hot and excellent. Would go again without hesitation

I visited here recently with my wife, the menu is varied and the staff are friendly.The prices are great, I got a quarter pounder with cheese burger and a drink for less than £10 and it tasted great.

Food is average and way overpriced. Staff seem very busy. Our waitress, Laura was really helpful, couldn't do enough for us. She really does make that place!

Came in for breakfast , was attended to immediately ,Simone was very helpful and friendly . Breakfast arrived very promptly , on seeing that my partner had not arrived - Simone offered to put breakfast on hot plate . I will be back . Thanks to Simone , she merits a promotion - a real credit to the company

Completely overpriced for what you get. 2 breakfasts.left still feeling hungry . Staff far too busy to get their attention although when we eventually did the girl was pleasant and helpfull. Didn't like the 'openness ' whilst eating as everyone passing by can view all tables.

Always get a good tasty cooked meal in here.We had cheese and ham omlette and salad, steak pie and chips and burger and chips.All very tasty and losts of it.Only downside,,,no toilet roll in ANY of the ladies' toilets. :(

Unfortunately it is the only proper restaurant in the centre. However this works to Bensons advantage because it is always busy. Quality of service and food quality is a 10/10. Staff are efficient and friendly. And it's all fairly priced too

The staff are great food amazing and prices are great for what you get . We always go there and they have a few cafe and I have been in them all and they are all equally as good , there is also a wide range of food on the menu to suit all tastes.

Went in for a lunch the place was packed. Great variety being served arround; rolls, panini's, breakfasts, burgers and steak pies.We had 2 steak pies and 2 rolls. The rolls were nice. The steak pie was great nice puff pastry, the steak was great flavoursome and tender.If in the neighbourhood would go back for a lunch.

We were with a family member who visits Bensons when up in Glasgow - we thought it wouldnt be our "cup of tea" but were pleasantly surprised !!Me - Roll n Chips as I had a mother of all hangovers TBHWife - Steak Pie - Loved it - lovely light pastry and tender steak - Mashed Potatoes were too dry but given the size of the serving it didnt matter !Uncle - Full Monty Breakfast - Loved it - clean plate !Teas and Coffees and Coke - and less than £20 for the 3 of us !!!Service was superb - team are so happy, great atmosphere !!!

I went here with my friend she ordered all day breakfast and waitress said that there was a deal coffee was included for a fiver. I ordered the vegetarian option and coffee, when the bill arrived we queried the amount as we both had ordered the deal, the waitress informed us that it only included food that had meat and not the vegetarian option obviously biased against non meat eaters. The vegetarian option included 2 slice of bread, 1 egg, small portion of beans, 1/2 a tomato and mushrooms, 1 potato scone over 6 pounds!

Went here with my wife and son. We sat in a booth and the waitress made eye contact with us but we waited 10 mins before another, more pleasant, waitress came over and apologised we hadn't been given menus and proceeded to give us then and take our order. I went for the Full Monty breakfast which if I'm being honest was very disappointing. The sausages and bacon felt as though they had been cooked hours ago and left to lie until needed. Definitely not cooked to order. My wife went for the macaroni and chips which was dreadful and clearly had been microwaved we also had a side order of mozzarella sticks which were absolutely fantastic and one of the best I have tried.Our waitress was very pleasant and smartly dressed (I think her name was Laura) she was excellent and the only reason why I haven't scored less.

Visited Bensons today for a quick bite had a macaroni was hot and cold watched the CHEF put it in the microwave.really disappointed yuck .should have went to Greggs

Homemade food with elevated prices. Atmosphere horrid . Rushed. Has a certain feeling of delusions of grandeur and efficiency. Unfounded

Went for lunch in this very busy café and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and range of food on offer. ( chips let it down, lukewarm but was too busy to send back hence 4 *) We had lovely burgers with salad and coleslaw with onion rings. Looked at food being served around us and it all looked good. Range went from breakfasts to traditional meals, filled rolls, Panini`s, Baguettes, baked potatoes and enormous ice creams to finish. Staff were all smartly dressed and pleasant. Very basic décor but clean. Great place for a reasonably priced meal when you are here shopping.
