Here is my honest review of the Vineyard Kitchen which is now under the umbrella of Leonardslee Vineyard. We enjoyed a 3 course Sunday lunch which price wise was slightly above the average cost but the surroundings, art work and overall environment made it feel above average. The Sunday menu is limited but less choice can be a good thing for some people and we found plenty to interest us. The service is lacking direction but the waiting team are pleasant and joyful but they need someone to help guide them and avoid missing the subtle touches that make a difference. Our table was layed incorrectly, we had a side plate but no bread was offered. We had wine but had to ask for an ice bucket twice, the rose wine was nice but not served or presented appropriately (bearing in mind this is a vineyard so would expect more emphasis on showcasing wine), water not topped up when empty, we had to go to the till to pay the bill. All fairly small things but collectively hold the experience back from what could be excellent. The starters that we had were unbalanced in the flavours. The goats cheese needed to be stronger against the pickling of the beetroot which also over powered what was a very nice piece of salmon. The peaches with the Burrata were not ripe and should not really have been served. The main was faultless in our opinion, one of the best we have had in a long time. The beef brisket was superb and I love it when extra gravy arrives without asking. The veg looked inviting and tasted fresh and the cauliflower cheese was again faultless all with very good amount of food. For desserts it was very much the same as starters, unbalanced flavours and nothing memorable. We had a bottle of Rose which was very good quality and reasonably priced at £20. Overall a nice experience which is frustrating because it has so much more potential and I wanted to enjoy it more but in the end there were just too many elements that made it in line with the price, just above average. Do visit but only opt for a main a nice bottle of wine and I think you will love it. Anymore and you will be left wanting much more than what you get

Lacking on all fronts. Service was slow. Menu was only 4 mains. We had to ask for a bread roll as none were offered. We were asked if we wanted it heated, to which we said no as we had already had to wait for the starter. When it came it had come out of the fridge! Steaks were very small for the price, tasteless & tough. Clearly not of good quality. When I mentioned this to the waitress she said she would tell the chef. We were not offered a replacement or a discount. Desserts looked good but didn't carry through with any flavour & I appeared to have come ready made from the freezer. All in all, very expensive (£100 for lunch for 2) and not worth it.

On previous occasions we have had a nice meal however on this occasion the food was not particular good, toilets and blocked, ambience loud unable to talk to each other. For a Sunday roast very over priced for 5 people, bottle of wine, couple of Guinness, two Coke zeros and large glass of red…….. £228……

The Mannings Heath website described a three course Sunday lunch. We were very disappointed to discover that the only roast meat on the menu was chicken. The portion size was ample but more vegetables would have been welcome and there was very little gravy. The dining room was lovely with a lovely view. The service was good but the food was disappointing. Customer toilets are same sex.

Pre COVID lockdown Sunday lunch here was a treat to which we looked forward, I agree with all the 5* Reviews. Post COVID lockdown Sunday lunch was poor to terrible. The roast, dry meat, next to no gravy, tasteless cauliflower cheese, hunt the roast potato, desert was worse. Service not great and we were put in the bar area instead of the nice dining rooms. I hope it is just a blip, I won’t be returning until I see some new positive reviews.

Wow, why haven't I been here before now! Now I know the quality of the food and wine and the excellent standard of customer service it won't be long before we will be back but I will be booking a taxi so I can sample the wine. We arrived early and took our drinks out to the terrace to take in the views of the golf course. The menu had something for all tastes and pockets. Our starters were amazing and the steak main course surpassed our expectations. There was nothing to critise, food, wine, service, environment all excelled. Planning to come back for a roast and to sample a ploughmans soon. P.S. Love the fact that all the produce is locally sourced.

We went with friends to try out the Benguela Brasserie at Mannings Heath Golf Club. The setting is magnificent for a start. The dining room is cosy and comfortable. Our waitress, Charlotte B, was extremely attentive throughout the evening and interacted well with the 4 of us. The meal was delicious at every stage and was served promptly. All was beautifully presented. Between us we had starters ranging from asparagus to prawns to smoked salmon. The steak main courses though, were the highlight. 3 of us had fillet and my husband had a sirloin. We all agreed that they were amongst the best steaks we had had - anywhere (including the US). Tender and melt in the mouth. Served with a choice of sauce and 2 sides, my sweet potato fries were crisp and the mushrooms were delicious. This was followed by yummy desserts and all washed down with top quality affordable wine. As members of Leonardslee Gardens (a visit there is also highly recommended), we benefited from 10% off the bill. So for c. £50 a head we enjoyed a truly special meal and we will definitely be returning.

Thursday is steak night with outstanding beef, two side dishes and a glass of wine for an average of £25 is great value. Starters and desserts are also available from the menu and fish is on offer if you don’t like meat. Vegetation options too. Our ribeye steaks (10oz) were cooked exactly as ordered and the house red wine was very palatable. You don’t have to be a member of the golf club either. If you want a good steak give this place a try

I have been looking forward to dining at the Benguela for ages so was pleased to go here for my belated birthday meal. We went on the steak and wine night which takes place every Thursday. I had checked out the menu online and decided in advance what I was having. On arrival we were given the menu which differed to some degree to what was online, mainly a few different starters, but this wasn’t a big issue because basically we were there for the steaks. Online it said one of the main dishes was moules mariniere and this had been swapped out for salmon so you would have been disappointed if you had been specially looking forward to moules. Anyway I ordered a sirloin steak and specified medium. When it arrived it was well done. I know many of my friends would have sent it back but I’m not a big steak fusspot so just ate it. It was very disappointing though and the brandy and blue cheese sauce looked and tasted more like peppercorn sauce without the actual peppers. It certainly didn’t taste of blue cheese. It wasn’t as though the restaurant was busy so I would have expected the chef to get it right. The waitress was friendly and eager though quite inexperienced and asked us too many times if everything was alright and we also felt quite rushed throughout each course. A very underwhelming experience really and wouldn’t rush back.

A group of 4 of us attended the wine and steak evening yesterday. We were met by the general manager, Simon, who was very welcoming. We were then introduced to Stuart for the wine tasting, who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. There was a great range of wines to taste, and Stuart answered all of our questions and more! We were waited on by Elise and Tom for dinner, who were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The meal itself was great and I would highly recommend others to this venue. Thank you to all the staff mentioned at Mannings Heath for making it such a lovely evening.

My family & I visited Mannings Heath golf course clubhouse recently for dinner & drinks. We have eaten in both the main restaurant and from the clubhouse bar menu on many an occasion, this time we ate from the bar lounge menu. The magnificent club house is situated with breathtaking views of the golf course, with a beautiful outdoor veranda available also. Our group of five adults were met and personally welcomed by the management team, our drinks order was taken by Harry behind the bar, who recommended various wines, of which they have an extensive collection, in particular, the South African wines are amazing. Our food orders were taken & served by a young lady called Annabelle, who was extremely professional, competent and handled all with grace & ease. Annabelle has a natural flair for customer service. We were seated in the snug area of the lounge and it felt as though we were eating in an exclusive, private dining room with magnificent views. We all ordered different dishes and all food was of the highest standards. Beautifully presented, piping hot, superb taste, quality ingredients, exceptional value for money, generous portions. All dishes were tweaked to our own preferences. The Chef excelled themselves in everything we were presented with. The bar menu of course, is different to the main restaurant, but the service, standards and quality of food were just as outstanding. The food was cooked to perfection. All in all, an amazing dining experience. In my opinion the location, venue, menu, food, wine and service are the best in the area. Truly outstanding, in every way. Our family have eaten in both the bar and restaurant on many an occasion over the years and the current ownership, management team, staff, service, food and drinks are top notch. I can't think of one other restaurant locally that would ever be able to compare in any way with this unique location. They are just remarkable. Very well done indeed.

Booked on seeing the reviews on trip adviser for ourselves and another couple for Friday evening . Had looked at the a la carte menu on the website which looked very good . We were the only people in the restaurant all evening , on a Friday which was surprising . The menu was completely different and being dissappointed with the choice the chef came out and apologised and agreed to cook us steaks and salmon . The food was just ok by this time we were wishing we had gone elsewhere . Where on a Friday evening would anywhere be empty . Certainly would not be returning had expected so much more as this is a great location . Word of advice get your website up to date , as we did not get anything like we expected .

As a group of mums who couldn't be with our kids, we decided to treat ourselves to afternoon tea for Mother's Day. What a shambles the service was - we were served by one girl with dark hair who didn't have a clue and another tall blonde girl who didn't seem to give two hoots! Neither of them showed any interaction with us - perhaps they were too busy chatting as I am sure we could hear the very distinct shrill voice of the tall one.

Main courses of fish and steak were excellent. There's clearly a very good chef here. We have eaten here before and find the atmosphere and the staff both excellent. The food is also very good, but I have a slight issue with the portion size, especially the starters. On our recent visit, the mozzarella and tomato was tiny, and previously the small scallops were just 1 1/2 per portion. This is the only dampener on an otherwise nice experience. Don't be put off, as the views are worth a visit, and the staff are lovely.

We decided to give this place a try on a cold winter's evening. We rang and booked a table which was absolutely not necessary as we were the only people in the restaurant! The service from the charming gentleman couldn't be faulted but our main courses didn't arrive until 45 minutes after finishing our starter, hardly ideal if you are sitting in a deserted restaurant. The food was good and we especially liked the bread rolls and the lovely table settings. We live locally and think perhaps they should promote the restaurant to drum up a few more customers. We had a terrific meal here, I only wish we’d found it sooner! Super tasty food with a South African slant, the menu although reassuringly not vast was imaginative and I was unusually spoilt for choice. The wine list has wines from their own vineyard in SA and also plenty of other choices. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive and I was pleased that the food took enough time to arrive to prove it was prepared freshly to order. This restaurant is in a pretty setting, overlooking the rolling fairways of Mannings Heath golf club, which instantly creates a pleasant atmosphere. Also, the Spike Bar and outside patio area, both good for pre-dinner drinks, have been renovated to a high standard. The main bar was undergoing the same transformation when we were there. There were delicious wines to choose from, allowing for great matching with the food. The chef certainly knows how to create wonderful dishes, obviously using very fine ingredients. The scallops, for starter, were the best I have tasted for a long while and as for mains, I could not fault the tender, tasty Sussex lamb. The same high standard is maintained with the deserts such as the crème brûlée and not forgetting the cheese board, with its range of artisan cheeses. The food is all about quality rather than quantity but we were not left at all hungry. The waiting staff were attentive and friendly.

We used to visit Mannings Heath regularly until some 6 or 7 years ago when it went seriously downhill. A member of our party attended a work related day recently and was very impressed with the food provided, discovering there had been a change of ownership. We decided to have a triple family birthday celebration Sunday lunch there and booked a private room. We had a variety of choices for all 3 courses. What more can I say.... . every morsel was perfect, fantastically presented, beautifully cooked, with our personal preferences adhered to. The staff were knowledgeable and, without exception, professional and charming. Beautiful setting and plenty of car parking. Can't wait to return. A day to remember! Thank you to the staff and chefs for giving us such a very happy day!

I'd been awaiting the opening of the restaurant with much interest, so it was a lovely surprise to be taken here to try the 7-course tasting menu on Valentine's night. A really interesting and well-balanced menu, each course was beautifully presented, with delicious flavours perfectly matched to one of the Benguela Estate wines. My stand-out dish was the grilled asparagus & artichoke hearts with rocket & fig pesto, and the fillet of very local venison (food metres rather than miles!) was cooked perfectly and melt-in-the-mouth tender. Pair this with relaxed, but attentive service and a cosy ambience and they're onto a real winner here. I can't wait to return!

I attended the restaurant on a Friday night and had the mussels to share as a starter! They were huge and delicious with an amazing sauce that I could of had on it's own as a soup! For mains we had the rib eye and the ox cheek! The steak was cooked perfectly to order and the ox cheek was full of flavour (1st try of ox cheek and it didn't disappoint). The entire experience was great, with attentive staff looking after us throughout the meal. It was capped off by the chef coming to our table to see how everything was which was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves good food!

There is no doubt that this will be one of the best dining experiences in and around the Horsham area, and for many years to come. Locally Tristans, The Pass or The Camellia are established restaurants Mannings Heath Golf Club and Wine Estate can boast an equally fine dining venue "The Brasserie".

This is really worth checking out. I am a member at the golf club and was a little sceptical about the new restaurant but it exceeded my expectations on all levels. The food, wine and service was really superb, and I think great value. I will be back soon!

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner with friends in this newly opened Brasserie within the Mannings Heath Golf & Wine Estate. You'll find this restaurant on the outskirts of Horsham, West Sussex. The Brasserie itself is a very inviting, tastefully decorated room that had a lovely open log fire on the evening we visited. The food, that is locally sourced was of a very high standard and beautifully presented. The wines were from the Benguela Cove Wine Estate in South Africa and complimented our meals perfectly. Even although this is a very newly opened Brasserie, the staff were extremely professional and friendly, led by Phil, the restaurant Manager. They were all happy to guide us through the menu and wines. We shall certainly be coming back here in the future to sample more lovely food and wine!

Food was good but a little salty. They offered to either remake or meal or refund it. We will go back again.

The food was appalling. The kebabs were overcooked and like charcoals , the bags were leaking when we got them home that contained the food . The person serving and cooking was miserable, unfriendly and grumpy. All in all , a terrible experience. Avoid
