Bengal kitchen in Harborough

Food was cold and inedible by the time we eventually got it! Such a shame as when it was in the old place, couldn't fault it! Was really looking forward to it as well!

Had yet another takeaway from here tonight & it was superb . We usually eat in but decided to eat at home & the service, food & delivery was spot on ! Sad runs a great business & portions are plentiful & perfectly spiced . Can’t praise this place enough , best Curry house in Market Harborough by a country mile .

Had a fabulous takeaway before ( see previous review). Nothing particularly wrong with the food tonight but not what I ordered. I asked for a Madras hot Dansak and got a medium spiced mix of Ceylon and Pathia. Not a lentil in sight and very sweet. Edible but disappointing. Naan bread was nice. Took over an hour and a half to arrive but I can’t knock that on a Friday night. Was gonna suggest the restaurant to my mate for tomorrow but will go elsewhere now. Shame.

Never had a bad meal from Bengal kitchen , we love the food , the owner Sad is lovely as are his waiting staff . We have tried every curry house in Harborough and this came up trumps , we wouldn’t go anywhere else Bonus you take your own drinks

After waiting 2 hours for my takeaway to be delivered, the food arrived cold, burnt, and with items missing from the order. Most of the food was inedible and ended up in the bin. The worst Indian I've ever had, waste of money

Terrible experience, food still hadn’t arrived after 2 1/2 hours and didn’t answer the phone on numerous occasions when trying to get an update. Will not be using again.

After hearing and reading great reviews we decided to try Bengal Kitchen and last night ordered online for home delivery. We ordered several different curries and all of them were disappointingly bland in flavour. The extra free starters we had for ordering over £20 worth of food were nice. The onion bhajis, chicken tikka and peshwari naan were all very good, but we were really disappointed with the taste and flavour of the curries. Not sure we will use again. Seemed a lot to spend for a meal we weren’t satisfied with. Delivery in Market Harborough

Good consistent food, loads of free stuff if you buy 2 main meals. Naans are excellent too. Delivery is usually always on time or early. Chips were cold last time, but other than that the food was of high standard.

As with a good Chinese, a good Indian is like a good wife: once you find one you dig your fingers in and don't let go of it. As far as the food goes, you really couldn't say a bad thing about it. Thoroughly enjoyable and portion sizes decent for the price. The service, though, is above and beyond - in my experience, at least. I live in a very annoying spot to deliver to but it's never been a hint of an issue - and the delivery guy is as sound as you could ask. There are half a dozen Indian takeaways within my area, the rest of which will never hear from me. Cannot recommend Bengal Kitchen highly enough.

No clue with what they are doing. Glad i didnt even get to taste the food. Delivery was 2 hours late by the time i could finally speak to the restaurant. Phone Line barely works. When i spoke to the restaurant, sounded very much like "Havent even got your dinner in the oven yet", But it'll be "2 mins mate". Save yourself the experience and use any of the other decent Indians in Harborough.

Do not use this place. Despite ordering on the app and being told the collection would be at a certain time, we had to wait in bar area for 20 minutes whilst delivery orders were prioritised. This was despite ordering a hour in advance. Very poor service indeed. Do not use for collections - there are better, more efficient Indian takeaways in MH

Terrible service. Late delivery over 1 hour 45 minutes after 16 calls. only answered twice promised it was on its way still didn’t arrive Food arrived cold. Missing items small portions . Didn’t offer an apology or any discount. Would not recommend will not be using again. Stay clear.

Although only a small, unpretentious restaurant the food is marvelous. We had onion bhajis, vegetable pakoras followed by Lamb Shagwala and Chuicken Balti. All were delicious with tender meat and vegetables, well presented. Staff were friendly and welcoming., also BYO drinks, well worth a visit.

This place has gone really downhill, it used to be good but has been so late on the last few orders. The restaurant mark the order as arrived on just eat before it’s been delivered, presumably to make it look like they aren’t so late. Tonight’s was over an hour late (originally ordered for 6:30, the restaurant updated it to 6:50, it finally turned up at 7:35 after I chased them). The korma was so watered down my wife couldn’t eat it, it tasted like chicken in a bowl of watered down single cream. When I called the restaurant they admitted they’d had a problem with their supplier, and they weren’t happy with the korma’s they were sending out either - yet they were still charging for them and sending them out to customers! Why on earth weren’t we told at the time of order they had trouble with a specific dish we’d paid for? When I called I was told there was nothing they can do, they’ve sent out a sub standard meal but nothing could be done, apart from they’d “sort something out next time we ordered”. Won’t be using them again, and I’d suggest others don’t either unless they can sort a) their delivery times, b) the food standard, and c) customer service.

To be clear, the food is great. However, be careful if you are planning a takeaway when time or content is important. I feel compelled to write this after 2 other occasions that it’s gone a little wrong….and then today. After ordering on apps (eats) and the delivery time was estimated as 1 hour… I contacted Bengal after 1 hour 30 mins to be told it was another hour…… that’s 2 1/2 hours after ordering…. When I rang they blamed eats ?…. Okay The next time, booked on their own site They delivered amazing food, just not the amount we had paid for…. After a busy day I just could not wait but did call to received apology after apology… all good, we don’t always get it right…. The third occasion, online booking would not work so I called… they confirmed something was wrong with online so my order was taken over the phone… having taken my family order, which was delivered late from their own estimate again, a number of ‘bonus’ items if you spend x amount were not included. I called again to be told it was my fault as I had not used the online booking form… I did explain it did not work, and the reason I had called to place my order.. to be told it would be another hour from my original order being delivered. Not sure about most people but having part of your order sent an hour after the rest of it sort of do any work… that said an hour later the additions still were not here…. To be really clear, the food is great but go and enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant, but be very careful if you are going to rely on them to deliver within any agree timescales or with any items that resemble your order

Absolutely fantastic!!! Usually visit Babe blooz which has recently shut down. We decided to try Bengal kitchen as we’d never visited before and it’s safe to say we are completely converted!! Food was piping hot, generous portions and fantastic flavour. We got loads of free starters too which were delicious Completely converted and will be back for more soon, great little gem in harborough

Best curry house in Market Harborough, it’s our favourite go to place ( after trying all the other local curry houses) staff are lovely also . Take your own drinks which is a bonus and keeps your bill down .

After all the years I have had the privilage of knowing and dining with 'Sad' and his crew, I have great delight in saying, it is a pleasure my friend, the food and hospitallity is second to none, your standards have always been the best ... you make myself and my family feel so welcome, nothing is too much trouble for you .. thankyou for a lovely evening tonight ... and most of all ... thankyou for bringing great food to our town!!! Faultless service ordering online via Uber Eats as always. First time for food at Bengal Kitchen after disappointing meals in the other popular Indian food restaurants in town and will definitely order again. Everything arrived quickly and hot ready to dish up. Very tasty food and again the best Indian food I’ve had in Harborough in a long time.

Love this restaurant. Food is exceptional both in the restaurant and take away. None greasy. Staff happy to advise and customise meals. No drinks licence so take your own alcohol. Perfect and enables a superb evening, within budget…

Ordered online. 45 minutes after delivery time had passed, I rang to enquire where food was. Man on phone said it was out for delivery and it would be with us in just a couple of minutes. After 40 further minutes no food so I rang again and a different man said they hadn’t cooked it yet and we could have it in 30 mins. Order was cancelled as it was now 9pm (food was meant to be delivered at 7.15pm). I understand issues occur but the one star is because they lied initially when said it was out for delivery when it wasn’t.

Just been to Bengal kitchen again , we go at least once a week if we can., as usual the food was excellent as was the service. Best Indian in Market Harborough and great value , give it a try you won’t be disappointed .

I would never have considered ordering from Bengal Kitchen until I read the reviews. I am so glad I did. The food arrived exactly when they said it would and it was fantastic!! The nicest Dhansak I've had in a while and great Onion Bhajee's. I also loved the Tamarind sauce with the poppadoms. I will definitely be ordering my next takeaway from here and look forward to eating in the restaurant so I can meet all the staff.

It's nothing special to look at/decor-wise compared to some of the other local restaurants, but the food is noticeably better - especially the quality of the meat, which is always juicy and tasty.

We ordered and paid online for our takeaway Indian meal from Bengal Kitchen Market Harborough. It was easy and efficient, they sent us an immediate text telling us our collection time. We ordered a Madras curry, Patia garli rice, keema rice and naans. They were hearty portions and delicious They also include an array of complimentary dishes, popadoms, chutney, chicken Tikka Bhaji and these were absolutely amazing! We will be visiting the Bengal kitchen on a regular basis highly recommend it is excellent and a new concept in ordering takeaway well done!

Fantastic takeaway, we enjoyed it so much and our young children loved it. Empty plates all round we will be coming back for more !

Food was lovely, all the extras included were delicious. I asked for a surprise and after asking a couple of questions I ended up with a dish that I've never had before and it was brilliant, great value for money aswell.

I went here to get a takeaway whilst on a trip to Market Harborough on my Narrowboat holiday. Very friendly staff, was a pleasure to chat to them! The curry "Chicken Chilli Masala" from here was superb and amongst the best I've ever had! Highly recommended!

Had a few takeaways from here recently and it’s exceptional. The same chefs and owner that used to run the Royal Bengal, so basically it’s the return of the Royal Bengal. Too many dishes to mention, but the biriyanis are my favourites and the Bengal Tiger Prawns for a starter is the best for me. For a traditional Indian, this is the best for me, I have tried them all. Super quick service too.

Went last night with friends and had a great meal. You take your own alcoholic drinks and they provide you glasses (soft drinks are available). Food was really tasty and the portions were generous. Had the dial a curry menu and the food was excellent. Butter chicken and Jalfrezi both fantastic and freshly cooked. With the free papodoms onion Bhaji, Bombay potatoes, chicken tikka starter, pilau rice,chutneys and salad makes this outstanding value as well.
