We have been to this restaurant before and loved it! We had a table booked for last night to celebrate on a weekend away and we had to leave due to the experience! The staff had clearly gotten greedy due to the Peter Kay gig and seated everyone without a reservation so there was no room for those who had booked. The foyer was rammed and we asked approximately 5 staff members about our table and all of them walked away. We weren’t the only people in this position, there must have been about 5 people all in the same position as us. We left when they seated a large group walk in ahead of us after we were already 20 minutes behind from our booking. Deeply disappointing and we will never visit again.

I was so looking forward to trying this place, so I'm disappointed to be writing this review. I booked a table for two people for 6:15 pm on a Saturday evening, arriving just before our reservation time. The place was absolutely heaving! Having never been before we had to ask another customer where to go to tell the restaurant we had arrived (there was noone at front of house) and we were told to let the bar staff know. We then stood in a queue of people waiting to be seated. We ended up standing in this queue for 40 minutes! At one point staff were seating larger parties, who had booked a later time, before us! We, and the couple in front complained about this and we were told "you're next." We were seeing a show at 8pm and were worried that we were going to miss the start. We were ready to leave, but then beckoned over to a table. I think the waitress had been told that we weren't happy, so she came over quickly to take our order. After around 20 minutes we called the manager over and explained about our other arrangements, telling him that we would need to leave shortly. He did speak with the kitchen, and our food was served not long afterwards. We would of loved to have sat and enjoyed our meals, and had we have been seated for 6:15pm we could of done. We finished our meals and were told to pay at the bar. So off I went to join another queue! There was only 1 card payment machine, which kept losing its connection, so this was not a quick process either! I've never been to such a chaotic restaurant! There seemed to be no organisation and they could not handle being so busy!

Although my work friends were all happy, this was probably the worst restaurant-made curry I've ever had. Lacking flavour, cheap cuts of meat, naan bread was burnt on one side so left a charred taste in your mouth. Atmosphere was hard to judge cause it was so quiet (Weds 6pm) but the service was quite slow, had to keep chasing for more drinks and the bill. Parking was the only real pro - you get 2hrs free in the citipark above the restaurant (enter your reg on the tablet at the bar)

All I can say is, if your in Leeds get yourself here, absolutely fantastic, best curry I’ve had in the uk, and service is second to none, and thankyou for the coffees while we were waited for our son to Come out of the concert ❤️

Fantastic experience the service was amazing and they were really hospitable towards my baby son. It was an absolute bargain. Didn't realise you can get a quality curry, amazing service and at a bargain. If I'm ever in Leeds I will come back. Highly recommended

Nice place and atmosphere, staff were very approachable and friendly. Food was out pretty quick. Bhajis were nice, tandoori mixed starter there was no description but would have preferred some Seekh kebab on it rather than lamb chop, nice though. Mine was the Chicken Achar, disappointingly it was pretty bland. The sweetness was there but no sour as described and lacked any heat. Wife had a Balti and that was lovely though. Naans were 10/10. Very reasonable price. We'd go back 👍🏼

We group of 8 went on monday evening..from the moment we walked in, the staff made us fell right at home..service was superbb and the food was very very tasty, well presented...highly recommended...every one in leeds must try...

Came here yesterday for tea time had onion baji, poperdoms with sauces then keema madras with garlic nann bread and a glass of white wine food was lovely highly recommend.

Team night out and what an experience we had! The food was exceptional and portion sides were massive, the staff were some of the politest person we have ever met 😊 from entering to leaving we were treated like apart of the family. We visited this Bengal Brasserie on our stay to Leeds. The food is excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. I'm a vegetarian and I can certainly recommend the food. Will definitely visit next time we're in Leeds.

What a lovely friendly restaurant with delicious food. We had a Chicken Khandari and Chicken Balti which were both delicious. Naan bread and bhajis are always excellent too. We took our two little boys and all the staff there are so friendly to them, they have said it is their favourite restaurant and we come every time we are in Leeds. They made them some nuggets and chips which they loved eating. A great restaurant to visit with or without children.

Had christmas lunch here today , and last year and many visits in between . Brought some friends who had not been previously. Absolutely knocked it out of the park as ever. Without a doubt the best food , service and atmosphere in Leeds. Thank you for making the day perfect.

Came in a big group during Xmas rush. Were running around trying to find us a table when we'd pre-booked months ago Were told we would have to wait a very long time if we didn't order the special "banquet menu". The starters were quite nice but cold pappadoms, naan bread that was both undercooked in the middle and also burnt on the outside?? Currys were very plain and boring and wasn't enough of them.. wish we would have just ordered off main menu to be honest

Where should I start from? It was my Wife's birthday, I called and reserved. When we arrived the manager was sitting right in front of the door and asked us to sit inside. We waited for 20 mins and no one came to ask for the order, atleast as a basic service should have come and asked for water. I had to call one of the waitress and she behaved as if she's the owner (her attitude) and she didn't even bother to come to our table. The manager then came and said "oh i am sorry I was supposed to come and take the order. We were like seriously? We then ordered Butter Chicken and after waiting for more than 30 mins AGAIN, we got the most PATHETIC butter chicken. We are Indians from Mumbai so we very well know how butter chicken is. In the past 12 years have tried it at many restaurants in England, Wales and Scotland as well. But this was the most pathetic butter chicken. It was not even butter chicken. They just put chicken pieces and a gravy on top that's it. Check the pictures. We also ordered Garlic Chilly in which we hardly found any Garlic and it was not spicy at all even after asking them to make it spicy. The most funniest part was, we ordered Kulcha Naan and the lady bought us Cheese Naan. We said we never ordered this. She asked what did you order then and we said we ordered Kulcha. She said yes this is Kulcha Naan and just walked off. The service here was the most unprofessional service we witnessed ever. We travelled all the way from Leyburn to Leeds and were disappointed with this place and the food and their service. Will never visit again and will highly recommended everyone to stay away from this place. If you wanna ruin your evening and waste time and have pathetic food then do visit.

Myself and my grandson thought we would have a little midweek treat and decided to go to our favourite Curry house. Nothing has changed. It is still absolutely excellent food the staff clearly look after the customers they can’t do enough for you. Their hospitality is absolutely brilliant. We were in last night for a staff Xmas party and to be frank, we had a terrible night and actually left before everyone had even finished eating. You need to do a better job of controlling your guests. Groups of 20 guys singing football songs, being loud and aggressive is not a nice atmosphere for anyone to have to dine in. Food was ok, at best, but the management seem to be more concerned about squeezing too many people into a small space rather than offering a good experience for their customers. From our experience, we would certainly not recommend this restaurant.

We booked a table very last minute when visiting Leeds to see Jason Manford at The First Direct Arena, very glad we bothered to book as although they weren’t busy when we arrived by 5pm people were arriving in numbers and walkins were being turned away. Staff were very attentive, decor and tables were pleasant. Our supper was excellent as were the beers consumed and I thought the bill was good for what we had. Food was hot and very enjoyable, we had popadoms, the selection of pickles were very good, then two mains, one rice, one naan, one side, and we couldn’t finish it all. Well worth a visit.

The food was the best Indian food I have ever tasted, highly recommended 😋 However, aside from one or 2 of the front of house staff, the service was not as good. The owner/manager in the blue shirt was fantastic, but he was let down by the majority of the younger element of staff who were mostly concerned with their mobile phones! There must have been 30 dirty glasses on the bar, but the 2 girls behind it just left them there 😱 with one of them just stood there doing nothing and the other one on her phone. Most of the young lads serving gave the impression they would rather be somewhere else. If the management could sort the staff out, this would be a 5 star venue, the food deserves nothing less as it was fabulous, we will be back when we visit Leeds next year.

Last night 21st Nov was our first visit to the Merrion center Bengal outlet and it was excellent the food and service was very good and as we have also visited the Haddon Road outlet it was good to compare them well impressed with them both. Thanks

Came here as a group to celebrate a birthday last week, Usha (sorry if misspelled) is a fantastic host, and made us all feel so welcome. She talked through different dishes, and was so attentive and funny with warmth too. The venue is lovely, a really nice atmosphere, and the food is just gorgeous! We had dishes such as Chicken Chom Chom, and I had a beautiful Fish Curry. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Visited Bengal Brasserie Bengal restaurant one Saturday evening, had called through to book a table but arrived at the agreed time and there was no table available and didn't seem to have the booking. The restaurant was quite busy so service was a little slower than what you'd usually expect, which wasn't much of a problem. The pickle tray had a good selection, but not that great. I did ask to see if a special curry not on the menu was available, but sadly wasn't. The khandahari curry looked good but was rather oily and didn't have a lot of taste unfortunately, which was a little disappointing as it was supposed to be a flavoursome dish.

Great indian food, we had a chicken bhuna and chicken madras and I can’t recommend it enough. The service was the best we have experienced especially the lovely wife was always checking up on us. Brilliant food, brilliant atmosphere would really recommend

Ive and my been to the restaurant once but order form the oakwood one very often. Definitely my favourite curry house in Leeds. If you like your spice try the Naga chilli curry firm their specials - my god!I. I normally get two curries with the intention of keeping half for the next day. More often than not I end up demolishing them both along with a naan and rice.

Came Leeds for a bit of shopping and decided to pop in for a curry as you do…Gotta say the hospitality they have provided throughout was excellent! Not to mention the food which top Quality! They even gave us a discount which was very nice. If you want a authentic curry this place is it , you won’t be disappointed.

We chose to eat here as today was our 20th wedding anniversary and our dear friends had never been here before we wasn’t disappointed in any way our starters included two tandoori mixed kebab one salmon tikka and one fish massalla our main dishes Salmon Dubhaja Salam and pilau rice two chicken chom chom with potato and chickpeas and a chicken sylheti jorda pilau nutty and fruity 6 chapati the mains were delicious cooked to perfection good size portions the waiter service with a smile every time we didn’t feel rushed after the meal we was served with a complimentary brandy nice touch to end a lovely dinner special thank you to Sakshi

We chose Bengal Brasserie (Merrion Way) during a one night, child-free, break to Leeds. From the exterior, you would be forgiven for assuming this Indian restaurant, although modern and clean, lacks character and tradition but this is not true of the interior. We were welcomed warmly and taken to our table immediately. Not being famished but ever obliged to have at least one poppadum, we ordered one each while perusing the menu and there was a sauce I have not previously found. I would describe it as an Indian spiced, sweet chilli sauce. It also has a smoky flavour to it….. very nice. I had the Chicken Deshi from their Chef specials menu. Would happily recommend. Madras hot good portion size. There wasn’t a buttered naan on the menu but we’re happy to butter a plain naan for us. Service was friendly and attentive. After our mains I ordered a Bailey’s but was misheard and brought the bill. This was corrected and when I asked for the updated bill they told me it was fine and the Bailey’s was on them. The meal was very tasty, VERY well priced and our overall experience was very enjoyable. Thank you Bengal Brasserie! If back in Leeds we will definitely be visiting again.

Staff were really lovely, especially the woman. King prawn puree was really nice, and prawns were cooked well. Lamb saag was good as well. Garlic naan was ok. They also had mango lassi. Toilets were clean. Definitely recommend!

We were fortunate enough to discover Bengal Brasserie through one of their monthly competitions! From the moment we entered, the service was exceptional. Usha, Shivani, and Mahin were incredibly welcoming and patient, especially with our two children. The poppadums and pickle tray were a delightful start to our meal. We were amazed by the variety and the generous portions of sauce, far surpassing what we've experienced at other restaurants. A standout for us was that they didn’t rush us; the service was perfectly paced. Unlike other places, they left the pickle tray on the table, allowing us to enjoy it at our leisure throughout the meal. The starters were mouthwatering. We ordered the chicken tikka and seekh kebab, both bursting with flavor and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The naan breads were wonderfully soft and fluffy. Our ‘notoriously’ picky son declared his chips to be "the best he’d ever tasted." (This was significant for us, as it's rare for him to eat in restaurants, which often makes dining out as a family challenging). The mains continued to impress. The meat was succulent and tender, and my husband and I agreed that thanks to this generous win, we've ultimately found our new favorite restaurant and we will most definitely be back in the near future. Usha and team, we can see just how proud you are or your fantastic establishment and rightly so! Your restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere was top tier and you are Absolutely AMAZING at what you do. You have completely perfected the whole dining experience, and we cannot wait to share our new discovery with all our family and friends. We look forward to returning very soon. Had an amazing chicken tikka starter as well as a tandoori mixed grill. Absolutely amazing food, great service, good pricing. My waiter Amaan was awesome.

1st time visit. Was everything I was hoping for. The service,food and staff were fantastic. £120 for 4 people had dips n poppadoms, starters and mains with extras plus 2x alcohol each,£30 each fantastic value. We will definitely be returning.

More please! A busy day at work photographing the Leeds Beckett graduations led hungry people to their door. They were deservedly busy but still managed to accommodate a group 14 photographers! Delicious food, choices for everyone. Happy faces and full bellies all round! We'll see you next year!

Lovely staff, place and food! Good value for money, delicious curry's, I particularly liked the array of sauces with the poppadoms, some new flavours discovered! Staff were lovely and friendly, and gave us free drinks as we were celebrating a graduation! Would recommend without a doubt

There’s such a nice atmosphere in this restaurant , we were allowed to take our time and enjoy our meal . We wish you were in Lincoln !! Looking forward to our next visit already 😊 7/7/24 We’ve always loved visiting this restaurant when we come to Leeds . The staff are normally really friendly , we love the restaurant surroundings and the food is excellent. Unfortunately the last 2 visits now we’ve felt really rushed . We just ordered poppadoms for starters as we knew we wouldn’t eat our meal if we had any other starters. The main meals came straight away so we were not able to relax and enjoy the popadoms . After we’d finished our meal nobody really bothered with us after that . The waiters were more interested in clearing tables . This is such a shame as we’ve always received very good customer service as you can see from my previous review . Our usual friendly waiter wasn’t there though , he always remembers us and makes a fuss of us when we visit . I also hate to be rushed when you’re out for an evening meal , which we did feel .

1st time here, will not be the last, beautifully decorated to a high standard, professionally service warm and welcoming and the food was delicious, i had the Sylheti my partner the Garlic chilli chicken both were super tasty with tender chicken, a must if your looking for a high end curry,

Booked for 6:15 and was told to wait a couple of minutes. We arrived at 6.10 A party of 6 came in unbooked at 6:25 and were told their table would be 2 minutes by the guy seating people. I asked how long our table would be that we had booked and he said 2 minutes. 5 minutes later we’re still sitting here. Not great start when you book a seat and pre arrange onpy for the booking system to be shown as completely pointless. Really disappointed having to wait over 20 minutes for our table when booked

The interior of Bengal Brasserie is lovely and the value is pretty good in terms of price of the food. But the service is quite poor. We were waiting a significant amount of time before our order was taken and had been there 45 minutes before our starter arrived. The food is quite bland for an Indian restaurant. My fish pakora was nothing different from what you'd get from a fish & chip shop which left me quite disappointed. The curries are nice, although we were a party of 10 and two people had the same dish and each came in a significantly different colour. Unfortunately the service also meant some of the food was cold when it got to us, and there seemed a lack of acknowledgement as to where customers are when they clean the table with one waiter inserting his bum in my armpit as he attempted to clear the table. As we left and tried to pay the bill we were informed best to pay with cash because their card machine is very slow at connecting. Surprisingly we didn't have £300+ on us so chose card, but half of our party was forced out to get cash as the machine failed to work. Altogether quite a poor experience when there are much better places around, wouldn't return. It's a popular spot near the arena but there are numerous much better places to have a curry/asian meal.

This place has so many 5 star reviews so it must be half decent, but that was not our experience. Food took a long time to arrive, 90 mins, but thats fine if the food you are waiting for is good, its worth it. But our food was awful and I mean AWFUL. We had three different curries and they were all watery and so bland. I had a Rogan Josh and there was zero spice or flavour. The other 2 curries were just as bad. We ended up binning them, and thats a first for us. We are not food snobs, but we really expected better. I have never left a negative restaurant review before, but I just feel compelled given the really poor food. Im wondering whether theres a different kitchen for takeout. I cant believe that if the restaurant is serving curries like this to their customers, they are not all being returned to the kitchen. A complete waste of money. Hopefully, just a bad day at the office, but I will never order from here again

5th time coming here. Staff are incredible, welcoming, helpful and like a bit of banter. The food is delicious. Tandoori king prawns, curry sauce and keema naan. Lovely setting too.

A fantastic curry last night. Didn't need to book too which was great. The food was delicious, served quickly and piping hot. The service is absolutely superb, everyone is so friendly and attentive. We've been many times before and it never disappoints, I always recommend it. I've tried something new on the menu every time and have enjoyed every dish. Had the sea bass shashlick last night and it was lovely.

Amazing experience, amazing amazing food (big portions), amazing staff! Osha (I think that's how you spell it, sorry if not!) was incredibly kind and thoughtful, as well as the rest of the staff. I got the Tandoori Butter Chicken with rice and plain naan, incredibly creamy and tasty. Will be coming here again if I can for sure!

A shambles. We were asked on arrival whether we'd like a drink and when we said yes the waitress just wandered off. We asked for tap water four times before it arrived. Ordered curries that we were warned were "hot" but in fact had no heat in them at all and took so long to arrive that two waiters asked if we wanted the bill while we were waiting for them. Only one card machine that only works at the til so when we went to pay queued behind 12 people also trying to pay with another 6 behind us. Poor service, poor food, give it a miss.

Must have visited Bengal around 10 times with my family. Great food, exceptional service and a lovely interior that's both cosy and comfortable for all. The management and staff always look after me and my family and are extremely attentive and generous. Thank you from the Khan family and we will see you again soon.

A nice meal service wasn't so good they forgot to bring our starters and then as they were going to bring thd main meal remembered them a nice place
