Bengal Bertie's, Highgate in Haringey

One of my two favourite Indian restaurants, the other being Yatri in King's Cross. The food at Bengal Bertie's is simply amazing AND for London reasonably priced! Love this restaurant!

Good Indian not sweet like most and delivery is usually earlier

I’ve finally found my go-to curry house in the local area, it’s only taken two years! This place is excellent, their service was great too and they even wrote a little note on one of the packets. And the foooood wow, chunky curries bursting with flavour and tender meat. All reasonably priced too. Look forward to next time, thanks guys!

Changed management. Since then its been pretty bad. Took over 1 hour to get here when its always been 30mins max, the food was well below their usual standards and was basically the biggest layer of oil ive ever seen on a curry. Bhaji only tasted of oil LITERALLY. Its a shame used to love this place, it was always consistent and now this.

Chicken curry inedible, extremely oily. Mixed kebab overcooked and chewy. Usually really good takeaway

I order from here weekly but i have never left a review. I think they deserve it. They are consistent which is what i like about a restaurant as i know exactly how its going to be everytime. The food arrives hot and tasty and usually early. You cant go wrong here.

Madras was good rice good popodoms good but chicken tikka pieces was tasteless and two bits were undercooked Still pink thrown in the bin they took under twenty min to delivery when quoted one hour if they concentrated more on cooking the tikka than rushing the order will not order again

Absolutely brilliant place. Been going here regularly since I moved to Archway Road in 2013. Never had anything less than an exceptional meal - all the specials are fantastic. Plus you always get a friendly welcome and great service. I've probably taken at least thirty different friends and colleagues on different occasions here over the years - all have loved it. Would have been superb if they delivered butter chicken instead of Chicken korma which I don’t order. If butter chicken is now tasting like coconut and sugar and is yellow in colour then I’m sorry for any criticism..

Amazingly tasty food as always!!

Although Rice and Dall were nice, the two curries we ordered were bland and the prawns tasted very odd and as we were concerned these were off, we had to leave. We've eaten in the restaurant before and this was nice. However, the takeaway was well below standard and we will not be using them again.

We are up visiting from Bristol. I ended up in New Bengal Bertie’s for a takeaway tonight as my first option from Google favourites had closed down and I couldn’t find my second option. But Wow what a find Bertie’s was - I ordered my takeaway and had 20 minutes to wait - however the staff were so friendly and hospitable - they gave me 2 free poppadoms and pickles etc while I waited and when I then asked for a coke to wash it down with they refused to charge me for it - Unbelievable service in this day and age. Not only that, the Chicken Naga and Buttered Chicken we ate when I got home were fantastic - overall well worth the 5 stars I have given them - well done Gentleman and thank you again for your wonderful hospitality 👍

The food was excellent. It felt like home made food instead of a commercially made food. The attention was very polite and friendly. I took note of the take away number for those days that cooking is not an option.

Worst take away ever!! 1stly the guy on Phone Claimed Rogan Josh was Not a Sauce? He said the only Separate Sauce was Dansak? I wanted a Hot Sauce and he said ok they could make that. The Delivery Took over 1 Hour to arrive. I could have Walked to Collect it and back home in this time!! What was Delivered was a disgrace! The Sauce was Dansak and completely Bland! Onion Bhajis were Rock hard and Saturated in Oil, the Chip were Soggy, half cooked and oily too. The Nann Bread wasnt done in an Oven it was Thick Chewy Dough and Tasteless even though it was supposed to be Garlic it didn’t taste of Anything. The Shaslik was just Ok nothing Special. On phoning to complain the guy was Argumentative saying it couldn’t all have been bad as the Bhajis and Chips were cooked by different chef to the Shaslik. I said Shaslik was Ok but the best part of meal was Popadoms and for over £30 that was Not acceptable. He asked was I returning the Food, I had actually Binned all except Popadoms and Shashlik. He then said he would take my details and Add something Free Next Order. My reply was I would Never be Ordering from them Again! He said he would pass that comment to the Manager? I asked could the Manager call me? 15 minutes later the same guy phoned giving me 50% Refund with no real Apology about the food.

Our absolute favourite Indian restaurant! Even my rather 'particular' father agrees :0) Abdul always takes care of us and we are about to go there for the second year in a row for New Years Eve dinner. Super tasty food, always consistence and never disappoints. A must try if you love Indian food!

That's the Indian restaurant which I was looking for! Great food and good atmosphere. We had great assistance(maybe we were lucky and visit that place during excellent shift) which gave us proper advice about spiciness and each ingredient in meal which we ordered... Great value for price!

This is probably my favourite curry takeaway. There's lots of variety in the specialties and they have great vegetarian offerings as sides or mains. There's a 10% discount for collection which makes it all the better that I live nearby.

We tried this restaurant for the first time yesterday and I'm so glad we did - it was absolutely amazing. The food was delicious and not greasy at all like some takeaways can be. What's also great is you can choose the heat of your food which is good for the kids as they both love the same dish but one spicy and one not! I just wish we had found it sooner.

Recientemente tengo que decir que estoy encantado de encontrar una mejora notable en la calidad de la comida. Acabo de terminar una comida familiar muy sabrosa mientras visitaba a mi madre. Cada plato era distinto y delicioso. Realmente golpear el lugar!

Hace más de quince años que ordeno en Bengal Bertie, así que sentí que ya era hora de dejar una reseña. Es mi ir a la India debido a la comida excepcional, la calidad del servicio, la velocidad de entrega y el precio razonable. Todavía tengo que tener una experiencia negativa única que es simplemente excepcional teniendo en cuenta la cantidad de pedidos a lo largo de los años. Me mudé de East Finchley a Kentish Town hace unos cinco años y me sentí increíblemente aliviado al descubrir que todavía estaba dentro de su área de partos. He intentado con muchos otros y ninguno se acerca: si quieres una excelente comida india británica estándar, ¡no te molestes en buscar en otro lado!

Best Little Indian in North London, don't let the outside fool you, warm cosy well presented interior, great food and under friendly staff.

The guys at Bengal Berties are absolute saints. The food is always excellent and they are extremely friendly. We've had takeaways from other Indian's in the areas but Bengal Berties is our go to as we know it'll always be good. I definitely recommend trying it!

Best Indian restaurant in north London

The paneer was very dry and tasteless. It's almost as if they were fried and kept then they threw some sauce on it.

This is a fantastic local curry house- we go here often and also get takeaway regularly, the quality of the food is always great (chicken shashlik highly recommended), excellent value, as well as lovely staff. Great for groups also.

La comida aquí era muy auténtico y sabroso pero nulas de Bangladesh el camarero muy grosero. Su actitud sarcástico de todo no sólo era irritante que molesta así mi familia. Nos fuimos con una sensación bereated y sólo puede describir la experiencia como terrible, ¡nunca más! ! ! El baño es tan pequeño que tienes que ir de costado para ir por el fregadero. Hay sitios mucho mejores para comer que este así que evítalo.

Clean your pans properly after cooking fish my chicken korma tasted more like a fish korma. It's a good think I'm not allergic

We went back after 20 years having lived across the road from it. The restaurant now has a new and contemporary interior. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly and the food was excellent. We will not leave it so long again.

Regresamos después de 20 años de haber vivido al otro lado de la carretera cuando fue nuestro local. Ha mejorado espectacularmente! La decoración es nueva y contemporánea y la comida es excelente. El gerente nos dio la bienvenida como a unos amigos perdidos y no podría haber sido más acogedor. No dejaremos pasar tanto tiempo de nuevo!

Got take out from here through Just eat. One of the worst curries I've ever eaten, I got the chickpea Masala and it was basically just chickpeas with very little sauce and a couple of pieces of onion. Not getting food from here again.

Habiendo comido aquí por veinte cinco años nunca me comer aquí. Un plato tenía que ser devuelto como el cordero era tan duro que no podía comer. Pero quizás lo más asombroso era el tipo que había en una noche para ayudar a fxxxing me dijo que hacer (ahora no recuerdo). Nunca me han hablado de como esta por cualquiera. Cuando me quejé al propietario y dijo que tenía no se disculpó, el muchacho (de 19) vinieron y me pidieron disculpas. El daño había sido hecho. ¿te puedes imaginar? Ir para una cena tranquila y estás insultado por 'Lo siento estoy caliente chico titulada "joven. Lo siento por los propietarios, que conozco y quiere el negocio a trabajar. Pero sin duda poner la palabra por sobre el inaceptable localmente manera de operar en lo que es un bien en red de la comunidad.

Was fed up with my local Indian takeaway and was looking for a new place without bland food. Ordered from here on a whim and did not regret it. Fast delivery, nice delivery driver and fabulous food! Everything arrived hot and delicious! This will definitely be my new port of call when I am craving Indian food! Great!
