Their ‘Bengal’ nights are fantastic value, as you can tell by how fully booked they always are. I’ve been going for probably 20+ years and rarely have anything to complain about

Been going to the Bengal for over 20yrs but noticed food quality seems unacceptable lately. Broken rice is disappointing, as is mushy king prawns (three out of the four in my takeaway). Had a take-out from the Indiaana tonight. Top quality basmati rice (grains up to an inch long!) and lots of fresh-tasting prawns

Went here on the way home from Peterborough. Got to say excellent service and food was terrific hot and tasty starters main side rice and coffee for £14.99p you ain’t getting any better folks highly recommend .

This was absolutely the worst curry i have ever had...id even go as far as to say this was the worst food in a restaurant i have had...absolutely no flavour, no spice, and the food was even watery....chicken tikka was dyed red with no spices, onion bahji was dougy and undercooked, butter chicken was just butter and no spice...the most bland food, literally no flavour...was also very expensive...wont be going back

I don’t usually do reviews unless something is excellent, and the Bengal is without doubt worth your time trying. My daughter and I decided to try the Bengal, and were not disappointed. I had the Tandoori mixed grill (a generous portion), which was delicious, and my daughter had the chicken Bhuna, which she was equally impressed with (my wife doesn’t like Indian cuisine and was late home, so we treated ourselves). Communication and ordering were easy, the food was delivered within the time window, and we were both well fed and thoroughly enjoyed our order. We would definitely recommend, and will use the Bengal again.

The Food was absolutely fantastic, but the Service speed was very Poor last night, Restaurant was busy but were prioritising Take Away Delivery and Orders, so much so we were there one Hour and they bought the Main Courses and we sent them back as had not received the Starters yet, when they came were of the highest Order then waited another twenty minutes for the Main Course which was a high standard, but the evening was spoilt by the length of time waiting for our Food 2/12 hours for a two course Curry. On paying the bill the Waiter's apologised for the Service, making me think it was a one off has never had so much delay on previous visits.

1st time here after it being recommended from a friend and we were not disappointed. Food was outstanding and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere and nice deco. Excellent value for money. Seemed very popular with takeaways as well as sit downs. Will definitely visit again. Many thanks

This restaurant is one of the best we have ever been to! It offers the most generous offer with a 5 course set menu at £12.50 per person - at the highest quality! All topped off with the best service! We will be back when we next visit the area! Well done and THANK YOU!!

went in to have a couple of pompadours and a prawn puree and a beer was told I couldn't and had to order a main course to eat in.we have had about 15 take aways and have eaten in once since we have been in ramsey for 11 months and always enjoyed our food.there was only 8 people within the restaurant when I visited so I find it very hard to understand why?ohh well there loss as me or my family when not be visiting again.

If you appreciate good food, DO NOT eat here. The curry I ordered was a disgrace. I’ve honestly had better microwave Indian food from Tesco. I know they have been about for years but for the life of me I don’t know who keeps going back to them? I can only assume it’s people who don’t know any better. My curry was so watery it ran through the rice and off my plate. If you haven’t eaten here before, listen to me and the other reviews that are warning you. I wish I had listened. Review about takeaway meal.

We have tried various Indians but none compare to the freshness and taste of this one! Always friendly staff and great service when eating in or taking away or delivered! And a card for Christmas too! - Mr Khan akeeps us coming back with great food!!

I have no idea who writes these 5* reviews probably people with no tastes buds. Ordered over £30 worth of food for 2 people this evening which is laughable because the menu they enclosed totted up to £26 which in all honesty I wouldn’t pay for it. My curry tasted like chicken in water. The mixed starter lol was tiny which is laughable that it’s for 2 people?! Rice tasted of nothing and we got flavoured rice. My partner said he had problems whilst ordering saying how spicy we wanted it. We are northern and lime it spicy, my 7 month old son could of eaten my curry. What a joke! And for them to big them selves up against their competitors what a joke. If you have no rate or rona order away. If you value your money order elsewhere

I have to say I have eaten at both the local Indian restaurants which both serve nice food On this visit the food was very good with the korma being of a very good standard which being a person from Birmingham where I am use to a good curry is staying a lot .PortionsThe portions were of good size and presented nicely upon serving . One portion of rice was sufficient for both of use Really would recommend giving it a try if you visit Ramsey

We were celebrating a family members birthday ,the Bengal is a regular haunt for that side of the family.drinks and popadoms came quickly but our mains took a very long time.the food was good but needed to be hotter.I suspect the problem was shortage of staff.the staff are very friendly and we enjoyed our evening but two and a half hours for a one course Indian!

My Wife and I went there on a Sunday evening and we were very pleased with both the food and the Service. The staff were so friendly and nothing was to much trouble the food was outstanding one thing we know is that when ever we visit Cambridge again The Bengal is top of our list of places to visit cannot praise it enough

It’s a long time since I’ve been to The Bengal and I had forgotten how nice the food is . Lovely evening with friends, great food , excellent service and free coffee refills . Very good value I won’t leave it so long in making a return visit .

Its been over 15 years since I have been to The Bengal and it did not disappoint, the food was excellent and the staff were very attentive. Could not fault them they even opened the door early for us.

A lovely warm and welcoming place. We were staying in accommodation across the road for our anniversary/my husbands birthday and chose to go here as our special night out. By the end we were very pleased with this choice. A good menu to choose from and our meals were delicious. Our waitress, Lisa, was very knowledgeable and helped with recommendations from our choices. She was very friendly and chatty throughout making our visit feel even more personable. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

Awful quality of chicken meat in my main dish. It was dry, stringy, tasteless overcooked rubbish. I won’t be eating there again until I hear there has been an improvement.

We used to love this place, but on our last visit we had the most bizarre service. The server refused to speak to me (a woman) he ONLY addressed my husband! What would he like to order, would he like a coffee, would he like dessert etc.. I might as well not been at the table! Not sure if it was a cultural thing but I left quite offended. He received no tip as I was the one fitting the bill and if he couldn't bother to acknowledge me, he didn't deserve anything - a mistake on his part. Due to the sexist service I won't be back.

We went last night with the family for my dad's 60th. The service was excellent as usual.

Having eaten in the restaurant many times and had ok food two nights ago I bought a take away meal for my daughter, son in law and self . The quality was both disappointing and embarrasing . The chicken tikka in the the masala and bhuna suaces had almost no flavour, certainly not of that lovely tikka flavour, and the sauces were bland. The meat in the rogan josh was so tough we binned it!!

This is my partner and I's first choice for eating out. We cannot resist the Bengal nights! You get a starter, main, rice or naan and side dish followed by complimentary coffee for only £11.50. The food is always amazing - fresh, hot and so flavoursome. There is a fantastic range of vegetarian options - they do the best paneer and onion bhajis I have ever tasted (not dry and overlooked like in ever other Indian restaurants I have been to). Will definitely continue to visit!

Went here yesterday evening for a wedding reception the food as very good and the staff were extremely good couldn't have been more help , friendly and polite . Recommend highly .

Staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious. Restaurant was quiet for a Saturday but probably due to World Cup keeping people at home.

Well having read the reviews on here we decided to try this restaurant, never again! I have reviewed a lot of ‘Indian’ restaurants in a lot of locations and this has to be one of the worst I have visited! The service was not the best but the food was tasteless and very greasy. My wife and I both had starters which had no flavour at all, we then main courses which were not a lot better.

Food is absolutely fantastic and the service is always great. Friendly polite and professional staff who go out of there way to help whenever they can.

I do not really live far away from this restaurant and the calling comes quite often. I have never been let down with service or quality of food. I often attend with a disabled friend of mine and the treatment that is received makes us all always seem welcome and no trouble. If you are looking for that special taste you will find it here and also if you can't find it on the menu I know that it can be russled up for you. Enjoy!

Having been a regular customer for very many years I have to say visited last night with a friend . The restuarant was very busy we were made very welcome atmosphere was buzzing service and food were excellent highly recommend

Good food at an affordable price, the waitress was lovely and nothing was to much trouble, thoroughly enjoying and will be going back even though we live 15 miles away.

El restaurante no estaba demasiado lleno, me he visto más concurrido en varias ocasiones. Llegamos alrededor de las 7. 30 y después de una comida de dos platos a la izquierda después de 10. 30. El servicio fue atroz, pero nadie parecía importarle a pesar de nuestras protestas. Sin duda tienen reservas acerca de visitar este lugar otra vez, puede incluso ir y visitar el otro restaurante indio en Ramsey, dicen que es muy bueno! ! C'Mon el Sr. Khan. conseguir su acto juntos, especialmente con grandes números algunos de los cuales eran conocidos personalmente.

Good value for money, especially on Wednesday and Thursday evening's. Attentive staff. Beautiful food.

The Wednesday / Thursday night Banquet is very good value. The food presentation was excellent. All the dishes looked and tasted different. (Not just one basic sauce) The Chili Chicken is delicious. Comfortable surroundings. Really enjoyed the food and will be visiting again. Just one,...

Just not enough staff. Come on guys you know it's busy it's banquet night. Need to do better if you want repeat business No complaints over food though

What a lovely meal. Have meat samosas which were obviously made from scratch! Loads of chicken in the biriyani with a lovely taste.

If you want proper "Indian" food, this is the only place to go to in Ramsey. It can sometimes take a while for your food to be produced, but that presumably means it is being produced freshly for you. Service here is friendly, you feel like family some times. Wednesday and Thursday are exceptionally good value for Bengal Night.

A lovely family meal. We took our 1 year old baby in and the staff were so friendly and looked after us well. We enjoyed the famous onion bhajees, they are the best I have ever eaten and I've been to a lot of different indian restaurants! Highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Biriyani, full of meat - we were stuffed. Thank you!

I've been going to The Bengal in Ramsey for quite a few years and my family and I travel from Huntingdon because we like it that much. Even when we want a takeaway.Not only is the food great, the service and atmosphere inside is fantastic, all staff are warm and friendly and our order and food is always taken and delivered to us quickly and professionally. Presentation of the good is brilliant too!Looking forward to visiting again soon :D

My Family and I visited The Bengal recently for the first time. The waiter who sat us down he introduced himself. He was well polite and professional. The food was so amazing. I tried the dish that was recommended by the waiter. If there is a dish that you fancy do ask the waiter to give recommendation worth a try you won't be disappointed. The services was fantastic. The decor is really nice. The staff are really friendly and they do look after you. I will 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone. Keep up the good work guys and see you soon :)

Best indian restaurant for miles, great staff nothing to much trouble for them. great value on the Bengal nights.

Had a lovely meal have never had a bad one and i speak for every one that was with me 23/10.will go back it was a very good evening as thursdays they do a great deal with starters main and afters 10 pounds pretty good.

Curry was bad not impressed as read the reviews on just eat. naan was burnt and hard,lamb was chewy and fatty seem liked it was over cooked .Took ages to come .would not recommend and will not be using again .

Just enjoyed yet another fabulous meal at the Bengal with Mr Khan and his superb friendly staff. Can't recommend this place enough. Give it a go. You won't regret it.

Went with a large group for a birthday. We were one of the first to arrive and after being seated and given a menu and waited for more than 30 minutes for a drink. With one amazing exception who seemed to do all the work, the staff were inattentive at best. Food took a ridiculously long time to arrive, I appreciate it was a very busy night in the restaurant but it took more than two hours for our food to get to our table from the moment we sat down. The food was ok, pretty standard stuff though nothing to write home about. If we hadn't been with a large group we would have left before the food arrived. I doubt very much we will be going back as there are better options in town.Gets more than one star as our waitress was fantastic.

We were just passing on a windy Wednesday night and had a lovely meal . We had the Wednesday special excellent value great tasting hot food . Well worth another visit. We also go to st Ives for an evening meal but will head to Ramsey again next time .

I'm surprised to see negative reviews here. The Bengal is in a very little town with not a whole lot of other restaurants around. My Grandma lives right down the street and everytime we come to Cambs we make sure to have a family dinner here on our last night. We have dined here probably 4 or 5 times and each time was excellent. We usually just order a bunch of different dishes and share them all. The staff has always been patient and friendly., making good menu suggestions.I will admit that I live in Florida where the Indian food is scarce and the restaurants we do have are pretty bad. I have definitely had better in London and in big cities but Bengal is certainly a runner up for one of my favorite Indian food experiences .I've been to India and I can say that the food here is pretty authentic tasting. Be sure to tell them if you want it spicy or more mild.I have many fond memories of the Bengal and have always loved the yummy food :)

Food was brilliant, just enough so none is wasted. Tandori chicken was perfectly cooked and very delicious. The restaurant had quick service, food coming out when you needed it to, with time to have conversation with friends and still having piping hot food. It has very friendly staff who are eager to please and refresh glasses but didn't over do the service. Atmosphere was quite quiet but lovely decor and traditional music. Air con was provided on these warm summer evenings and an enjoyable time was had by all.

Had a delivery from the Bengal. I was up all night being ill....it went on into the next day. And then continued for two weeks there after. That was in 2002. Tried it again in 2012. Didn't agree with me again. Nothing like 2002 just a bit of a dodgy stomach....We used to be a regular here until my food poisoning incident. We would never eat here again. If you read the food hygiene standards report, you will see that in Feb of this year it had a rating of 0..... Which means urgent action is required. Says it all really......

I have just had a chicken Tikka and the meat was so dry I couldn't actually cut it, it was cold and the salad was also missing. I did actually stop eating there a while ago as i found the meat was usually overcooked and only ate there tonight because the other Indian (which is excellent by the way) didn't answer the phone.

Tried the Bengal for the first (and last) time last night. We have eaten in loads of Indian restaurants and this is by far the worst. The food is bland and the 3 different dishes we had tasted pretty much the same - bad. Portion size was small and the chicken was dry. The travellingman below has it about right, think twice before visiting as we're really not sure about the rave reviews for this place.

Went with a big party to celebrate a birthday , and the staff were brilliant . The food was lovely although some peoples was a little in the cool side , but you expect that with a big party. The prices were fair and well in line with other good Indians . All in all a lovely night out , would recommend it .

Used to live in Ramsey and decided to visit for old times sake.Decided to have a meal at Bengal. Wish I had not. The meal was not good at all, onion bargie (sorry wrong spelling !) was nothing more that a mush. The vindaloo was more like a heated up sauce, do they use the same stock for all meals, me thinks!have eaten all around the world and this was without doubt the worse Indian i have uncounted. Think twice before going.

Called into the Bengal without a reservation on a busy Saturday night. Our party of five was fitted in with no problem. The Bengals layout is cosy, but there's plenty of space between the tables.The food was truly superb, the shashlik was among the best I've ever tasted.
