Reasonably priced, great food, always the most pleasant and efficient service.

So disappointed with our strawberry dairies in an ordinary glass drink in the bottom ice with no flavour on top we left them the meal said cream and roast potatoes none of us got roast veg poor as I said first time don't think I will be back

As a regular I would call it I went to meet friends a few weeks ago. We ordered drinks and enjoying them when a waitress came over and said table booked for food?? No other tables available and were told seats outside,was freezing?? Please don't advertise as a 'bar/restaurant' if you only want clientele in to eat??

I was visiting my brother with my sister and his partner for my birthday, he lives locally so we went in for a couple of drinks. The bar staff were friendly and the prices were good, however the atmosphere and DJ were less so. The DJ had a microphone and was regularly asking people to make requests, the volume was also going up and down wildly from song to song. I went over and asked if we could make some, he gave me a pen and a piece of paper, i asked if it was okay to put in a few, he said this was fine. We returned a list of twelve songs, including such modern classics as "wuthering heights" by Kate bush, "breathe" by Sean Paul and Blu Cantrell and "Golden Skans" by the Klaxons, which we thought were popular and varied enough. The guy continued to get on the mic, telling, specifically women, that they should get up and dance, which we thought was weird, like "come on, we want to see ladies on the floor" and "women need to be on the floor tonight" it was a medium busy pub and it just came off as a bit intense. A few times he even mentioned a specific woman by name and put pressure on her to dance, as far as we could see she did not and again it was just odd. Ironically we would have probably all got up to dance if he had played any of our requests but he didn't..in fact, when I I went to the toilet he said, I haven't forgotten about your requests, but we try and avoid that kind of stuff. But I'll play it later, I just said excellent, and went to the bathroom. He didn't in fact play any of our tunes, we waited until 11 and then left. And at that stage he was still walking around the pub telling people to request songs and telling just women they should dance. I would come back to the pub again, for sure, but not on a Saturday. 😂 And if it could maybe be passed on that if you want people to dance, maybe play the songs they asked for and don't wander around the pub naming folk to try and get them to dance in front to you.

We came here for Sunday lunch, have been a few times before and the food is normally great. Today, after a long wait, my partner and I both had issues with our meals. We both had an inedible roast potato on our plate. My partners beef was not hot enough and half of my lamb was cremated and inedible. It's really disappointing that the food was poor on this occasion and has put me off returning. Cannot fault the wait service staff, they were really friendly and efficient. Shame I can't say the same about the kitchen staff on thus iccadion

La experiencia muy decepcionante tuvo casi una hora de espera para que se sirviera nuestra comida cuando se nos preguntó sobre cuándo podíamos esperar nuestra comida nos dijeron que tenían dos mesas grandes de comensales y tenían que sacar su comida. ¿Por qué tomar la reserva si no puede hacer frente. Cuando llegó la comida pidió un poco más de salsa cobró un extra de £ 2. 50 por ello. Nadie nos preguntó si todo estaba bien con nuestra comida o si necesitábamos algo más. Hemos estado varias veces antes y esto sin duda no es como las otras ocasiones como la comida y el servicio anteriormente excelente. Nos quejamos del servicio que tomaron £ 4. ¡50 de descuento! Examinará las otras alternativas en el área en el futuro.

Very sad to leave this review as I am a local and I have been to Benqrogans so many times and had great meals and experiences there. I was so excited when Ben madigans opened to have somewhere so nice local to us but I was in recently and unfortunately I did not have the same experience myself and my partner went in on a Sunday evening for food, we were seated and then the server took half an hour to come back to us to take our order ( it was not busy, there was us and three other tables being used a few people sitting at the bar) after this she out the order in our food came out about 20 minutes later after this she took our plates and we waited for the main....and we waited for a long time we were waiting between our starter and main for almost an hour without any staff approaching us to update us or check in until I got up and asked them politely as I hate when people are rude to staff and I am never one of those people. They assured us the food would be ready in 15minutes at this point we had been waiting 35 minutes the waitress who was dealing with us would not look in our direction she was up at the bar talking to a woman to cake in with a child who was not eating or drinking in the restaurant or bar while there were tables and people waiting for food that was not coming. This was not just us the two tables opposite us also were becoming inpatient. We waited the 15 minutes, then 20, and then 30 at this point we got to the 1hour mark and we had no time left to wait I had to get up and notify the staff who were all standing at an empty bar talking to eachother. They never apologised once they entire hour noone approached us at all, I am so so disappointed as I was a massive fan

My family and I recently attended Ben Madigans as we had booked the remembrance package for the 1st floor. We cannot be more grateful for everything that we experienced on what was such a sad heartbreaking day for us as a family. From being met at the front door and guided upstairs, to all bar staff being attentive and the environment being clean and incredibly welcoming. The food was beautiful. I highly recommend Ben Madigans for such an event and thank you all again The Sloan Family

A very stylish licensed bar/restaurant beautifully designed and set out. Staff were plentiful and helpful as was the doorman who was friendly and wore a 😃 smile.

Esperé 1 hora y 10 minutos para el plato principal, lo que era inaceptable. Cuando le pregunté al camarero sobre el retraso, me dijeron que la comida “no tardará mucho”, pero aún así tardó demasiado en llegar. Además, pedí un filete medio -raro, pero me sirvieron un filete bien hecho, lo que fue decepcionante. Teniendo en cuenta el precio, la experiencia general fue pobre. Es necesario mejorar tanto la velocidad del servicio como la calidad de los alimentos.

Great food good prices and friendly service

I visited 2 weeks ago, and opted to send them a friendly email regarding overcooked and lukewarm food we were served, rather than leaving a poor review as I believe a company should be given the chance to rectify it. 2 weeks have passed and nobody has acknowledged my email. I've been multiple times before and never had a problem, and if they had given any sort of explanation that would have been more than adequate and the end of it. I like to visit an establishment knowing if there is an issue that they can deal with it appropriately. But unfortunately on this occasion they opted to completely ignore it so I'm not feeling confident about their ability to deal with issues. Edited 19th Jan Following the reply I got from the manager, I emailed him on Jan 10, but as of Jan 19th, I have yet to receive a reply from him either. I have added pictures of the original messages I sent via messenger and email, as well as a picture of the message I sent to Kelvin. All showing the time and date.

This was my second visit to the ben madigan. My first visit I wasn't impressed with the table we where given ,I asked to be moved but the staff said there wasn't any tables available, but ther was one across the way that was never used. My second visit, couldn't complain about the situation of the table it was grand. Staff where very efficient, took our drinks order it came very promptly. Our food order was take quite prompt as well. After one hour wait our food still hadn't arrived. I spoke to two of the staff who said they would check. The table behind us ,who came in later than us got their food and we hadn't got ours. After speaking to another member of staff, who said it was on its way. Finally after 1hour and 20 minutes our food arrived . The food was nice,but not worth waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes for.

Nice enough place but it's much more of a restaurant than a bar in my view.

I went to Ben madigans as there was an intimate gig with Ryan McMullan. Thought whilst going we would get some dinner. This was genuinely a great choice. Food was beautiful. Myself and my partner got starters with both getting chicken he got the wings and I got the korean chicken. Mains he got fish and chips and I the chicken burger. Portion sizes were big so i couldn't even eat all of the main which I was sad about as the chicken burger was beautiful (had bacon on it also). I got two beautiful cocktails and my partner got Guinness 0% which he loves lol. The thing that stood out for me was the service though. Waiters and waitresses were attentive, friendly and genuine. I had made a mistake with the timings of dinner and when Ryan mcmullan was arriving but the manager sorted it that we got to remain seated for when he arrived which was well appreciated. Would highly recommend anyone to try for food and also drinks. Also a singer called Sean was on before Ryan he was brilliant also. Will 100percent be back.

We visited here for a family meal out before I return to England in the morning. As soon as you enter, you sense it is going to be a relaxed and welcoming place and we weren’t disappointed! The staff are so friendly and each one was so kind to us and our dog (Connor). We were given the time and the space to properly read the menu and all the allergens were clearly displayed. Our food was delicious… Some of the tastiest restaurant food I have had in a long time! Everything was piping hot, cooked fresh and to order, using outstanding produce and ingredients and seasoned perfectly - the food couldn’t have been better!

Absolutely loved this pub. We walked up cavehill and got ourselves a crisp pint of Guinness and some lunch. I had the beef burger, and it was up there with being the best one I've ever had - the beef was fresh from McAtamneys - which apparently usually has a queue outside it - I also had the truffle fries and they were equally important. Chicken wings absolutely fell off the bone. Great service too! Should've taken a photo but it shows how desperate I was to get stuck in. 10/10

Basic fare, very few options for coeliacs, all of the vegan/vegetarian options contained wheat. The staff were friendly and mostly helpful.

Starters nice although mains cold and took an hour to come out. Our waitress was lovely but.

I go to Ben Madigans once every few months. I find the food very good and the prices are decent. I bring my family here and there is something for everyone on the menu. My favourite is the seafood chowder which is absolutely delicious. If I actually had a social life I would love to come and spend a few hours in the evening having a drink. The christmas lights at this time of year are lovely. They have a function room upstairs and pub quizzes and events throughout the week. It is well run and the staff are great. I would highly recommend Ben Madigans.

Gone badly down hill since my last visit back in the summer. Sunday roast..not enough gravy, inedible Yorkshires. Desert brought with just a spoon. Toilets in very poor state. In middle of our meal, one of the bar staff drags a huge container of empties through the dining area, leaving the door wide open to the elements (chilly).

Amazing food and atmosphere, the servers were lovely! Splendid time!

Best Veggie Sunday dinner I’ve had in long long time. Only negative was there was too much food😂 Oh and the fact we could bring our little pup was the best bit. Will definitely be back.

My friend and 1 went for Sunday lunch to celebrate both our birthdays. We both chose the vegan nut roast. Based on what we saw coming out for other people, we were expecting a plate full of food, but our meal was quite stingy and small in comparison. We got 4 roast potatoes, 3 bits of carrot and 2 of broccoli along with our nut roast. Everyone else in the restaurant seemed to be having trouble finishing their meals there was so much food, but we had to eat slowly to make ours last. The food was lovely, but there wasn’t enough of it. Also they had no vegan desserts, only ice cream. The venue was nice and the staff lovely but as far as the food is concerned, it was £17 for our meal and there simply wasn’t enough food for that price. Maybe the other option would have been better? There was a curry on there but I love a roast dinner on Sunday.

Absolutely Horrendous Experience at Ben Madigan’s – Avoid at All Costs Where to even begin? Our family dinner at Ben Madigan’s was a disaster from start to finish. We booked a table for seven, only to be ignored and left standing around for 30 minutes after arriving. So much for a reservation. When we finally sat down, things somehow got even worse. Service was non-existent. After some mediocre starters, we waited an unbelievable 1 hour and 35 minutes for our main courses. When they finally appeared, they managed to add insult to injury. My fiancé and I had ordered turkey and ham, and were promised the “last two servings.” So imagine our shock when, after waiting nearly two hours, we were served two dried-out chicken breasts with no explanation. Apparently, they hoped we wouldn’t notice? As for my parents’ meals? They ordered burgers, which had all the flavor and texture of a cardboard box. Tasteless, dry, and thrown together with zero care – it honestly looked and tasted like something you'd regret buying at a gas station. If I could give zero stars, I would. But since I can’t, here’s a 3.5/10. Save yourself the money, time, and frustration – go anywhere else.

Food is excellent as always. I cannot find any fault in their featherblade of beef. They were happy to change the pepper sauce to gravy for me. We did order an extra potion of veg but outstanding quality of food. A little slow on service; we were seated near 20 mins before any took food orders and then the food itself took a further 30-40 mins to arrive. All in all, a great meal. A bit loud but usual for a Saturday night anywhere in Belfast.

Went as a large group for lunch. Lots of choice on different menus and we had a variety of food some from the £10 lunch and others from the main menu. All the food came out looking amazing and no issues with the order. Food was great in presentation, quantity and taste. Nothing was too much trouble and the girl looking after us was really helpful and pleasant. Have been now a few times as this large group and each time is great.

Excellent food and excellent service.We opted for CHATEAUBRIAND surf and turf with crispy succulent monkfish and mouthwatering steak(medium) cooked and seasoned to perfection.The Béarnaise sauce was so luxurious and went well with the whole dish.Well presented and well worth the money.Had the white choc parfait to finish which was delicious and rounded off the night well

Took my parents here for Sunday dinner and we were thoroughly impressed. The menu offers a fantastic selection of classic comfort food, and everything we ordered was perfectly prepared. The service was outstanding—our server was attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. The cozy atmosphere added to the experience, making it an ideal spot for a casual meal. I highly recommend it for anyone craving hearty pub fare! They're not hard to pay either...very good value!

Was there lastnight with my sister Staff lovely Doorman was lovely too But my only complaint would have to be the ladies toilets. They have a very bad smell puts you off going in . And there not really clean toilets would flush either .

Was back at Ben madigans last night for a few pints and a meal with friends who were celebrating a 60th birthday food good as usual service as good as before it was just absolutely great night

We had a lovely meal & drinks in Ben's outdoor terrace in the sunshine. We had burger,chicken & chorizo and the famous beef cheek along with tasty cocktails, cold beer, wine & gin. We spent a relaxing few hours watching the world go by. Called in today to try the lunch menu. Very tasty, good portions & well priced. We had the steak sandwich, club sandwich & wings. Apologies for the pics but we'd already started eating.

Had a very nice lunch for a work function and was very pleasantly surprised by the value for money offered. A set menu was offered differing from the usual lunch menu, understandable considering a group of 30 or more had to be served at once. But i must say, it was well presented and cooked to order, empty plates all round. Would highly recommend should you have the need for a corporate work lunch.

Great food, relaxing atmosphere

Lovely wee spot for some really tasty pub grub. Me and my family had the lamb shank and it was very tasty indeed. The only gripe I would have is there never is enough gravy and definitely could do with more vegetables which means you have to order extra gravy and vegetables ( not ideal) . Apart from this the place has a nice atmosphere and the service is always very good. Will be back again!

I have been coming to Ben Madigan’s religiously since it opens it doors but I’ve decided to leave this review in hope it is seen. The staff and atmosphere is always incredible but the food has taken a massive downfall it has saddened me. On 3 occasions in the month of July I visited and was left disappointed, the mash potato tasted just like lumpy school mash and 3 different proteins were extremely bland. I am not writing this reviews out of spite but in hope that the restaurant I never shut up about to everyone gets their standards back that I’m sure everyone worked extremely hard for

Our food was very nice, unfortunately they had run out our first meal choices. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had to move tables because it was too loud to have a conversation but it was a Saturday night. It might not be like that at other times.

What a jewel this place turned out to be.Only chose it because it was closest to my bnb.Right choice ! An independent business avoiding the ubiquitous chain hostelries of central Belfast ,this place only a 13 min bus ride from Donegal Place was perfect for a quiet Sunday roast.Top rate food at an excellent price,all served with the famous friendly warmth of the Irish.If you are visiting Belfast and seek great food,get yourselves out of the centre and visit this place.

Here on holiday, stumbled across this pub (which by the way is a quality pub). One of the members of staff (Trisha) was very helpful in recommending a variety of things to do around the area, choice of drinks was essentially limitless and all our choices were delightful. We didn’t eat however the food smelt incredible, they also have live music on Fridays! Double win! Great beer! Great music! YAMAS X

Went lastnight dinner, home from Sydney visiting my family. Walked in without a booking, place was busy but they happily fitted us in .. service and food was exceptional.. lovely vibe . Highly recommend, will try getting another trip back before I head off! Thanks for a lovely evening

Waited an hour and never got our food! I think they forgot about us and they were not busy at all. We got our appetizer and waters and after 15 minutes had to remind server to get my father-in-law's beer. Then after about 50 mins of waiting, my husband asked the server about the food and she said it should be ready in a few minutes. We only ordered 2 dishes! We waited a few more minutes but couldn't wait any longer. Left enough euros on table to cover the appetizer and beer and we left. Went down the street to Chill to get some delicious ice cream to curb our hunger.

We loved this spot for a bite to eat and a few drinks on our vacation to Ireland! Trisha was SO helpful recommending places around Belfast and giving us directions to various places. I would give this place 5 stars just off the quality of her service but the food and drink was all splendid as well! Definitely would recommend.

We had the Bottomless Brunch today. Great craic and the food was delicious. Our glasses were never empty. Great to have such friendly, helpful staff.

I have been here couple of times and usually enjoyed the vibe and drinks except for this time. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri and clearly they ran out of strawberries and the syrup to make the drink and offered me a horrible pale pink (almost white) concoction for £9.95. I was disappointed because I have had the same drink last year and it was perfect - in colour and taste. And they unapologetically slipped that drink in my hand and charged me the full rate despite the missing ingredients. If you do not have certain ingredients, cant you simply say not available instead of ripping someone off. Highly disappointed!

Did hear so many good things about this place but noway I'd go again. The burgers were dry and the kids chicken was dry, well over cooked for sure and the service to be honest was really bad, slow to take orders, slow to lift empty plates from the table. Just in general easy things were bad at. Worse part is they way over charge u. Like near 20 quid for a burger and no joke a McDonald's burger is nicer from that experience I had. Sadly wouldn't even give it a 2nd chance after this experience

We stopped off here for lunch before I was headed to the airport, the food was really nice and reasonably priced, my friend couldn't eat all her meal so she took a box home for later that evening.

We had Sunday lunch at Ben Madigans a while ago so decided to try it for lunch. I don't know if it was a bad day in the kitchen or have they changed chef, but it was a disappointment. We ordered pate for starters , was supposed to be on toasted sourdough bread, it came with cold untoasted sourdough, it was cold and not nice. My salmon was about half the portion as I normally receive when I am out for a meal. I came hone hungry which I have not done in any other restaurant. Needless to say I was very disappointed with the lunch.

This place has went from amazing to absolutely terrible. I visited 6 times for dinner. Never ever again.

As 4 Americans in what seemed like a locals restaurant, we felt comfortable and welcome. The food was amazing and the portion sizes were very generous! I brown gravy was “lick your plate” worthy! It was also my first Yorkshire Pudding and it was very delicious.

It was a busy night so service took a bit longer, but the food was delicious couldn't fault it at all, the entertainment upstairs was so good and love a bit of abba. And the toilets were spotless always a good sign
