Belmonte fish&chip shop in Angus

Chips were ok and fresh made could have done with a bit longer though, the small fish on the other hand very greasy, soggy batter and definitely wasn’t cod or haddock( my own fault for not asking as does state just fish on menu board)

Freshly fried to order chips, battered sausage and fish. Great service, very tasty high quality food. Cant fault it. Love the Lazio posters too! 🤌

Absolutely vile batter so greasy went in bin got a fish supper and black pudding supper avoid in my opinion

Never been here before and nipped in on our way to the beach. Hands down the best chippy we've had. Everything was cooked fresh and quickly. The fish tasted fresh and the batter was light and crispy! The chips were delicious, perfect chippy chips that you just don't get anymore. Our little one got chicken goujons and they were really tasty! Prices were very reasonable for what you get and the staff were lovely and polite. Will definitely be going again!

Been a few times when visiting family in town and always had great fresh cooked food at a good price. Brilliant chips , and Scotch Pies like you used to get .

Chips were soggy, greasy, onion rings were as limp as anything. Red pudding was sliced in half length ways then deep fried. It too was limp. Not a good selection either. All landed in bin. Never again.

Fish had just been cooked when we went in and it was lovely and fresh, as were chips. All four of us enjoyed our takeaway suppers. Staff very friendly, polite and helpful too. Reasonable price too.

Some idiot gave this a one- star rating. Ignore this. Everything about our visit to Belmonte was first-class, from the welcome to the very high quality of our haddock and chips. Excellent all round and highly recommended.

Always a cheery welcome - nice staff and good chips cooked in veg oil, suitable for veggies. Other foods cooked to order.

Beautifully done fish suppers !! Since Tripadvisor is asking:) the chipper in the town centre is a mess in comparison - their fish was soggy and tasteless, chips were horribly dotty and brownish ( that what overused oil does to chips:( i will never be back to that place.

One of only 2 chip shops in town and I'm afraid to say this is number 2. Literally. Poor quality. Poor portions. If your a visitor and have access to transport head to Arbroath for real fish and chips. Not this guff Its a sad imitation of a chip shop

Disappointing fish and chips here , overcooked fish in an odd batter and soggy chips . Perhaps just too busy when we went, but this was not a great experience.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat after a long day - was distinctly unimpressed unfortunately. Place was empty - maybe should have seen this as a sign of things to come. Food was average, batter was far too thick on the fish - unlikely that we will return.

Purchased fish and chips the fish being freshly prepared while I waited as it was for several other customers who were obviously happy to wait rather than be served dried up fish etc. The staff were friendly and were seen to keep the serving area tidy and clean. The prices were reasonable and cheaper than some others I have visited.

not the best Ive tasted, in fact very bland for a fish and chip shop. Only tried this once and had a sausage supper but for some raeson the whole thing just didndt seem right . Sorry

Excellent carry out food - very nice owner. Black pudding, haggis, fish & chips - wonderful. Especially eating walking along the road.

Menuda decepción, tuvimos a dar una vuelta por Escocia después de muchos años en Australia y al regresar a la familia en el Carnoustie pensamos tratarlos todos a pescado y papas fritas, etc. en vez de cocinar. Sobre todo porque habíamos disfrutado el otro chip shop comidas que tuvimos, fue costa a costa. Muy, muy pequeña porción de patatas fritas en las cenas, eglefino era un poco seco y la pasta era plana y uncrispy. pastel de carne fue destituido de calefacción y refried aunque no nos gusto muy bueno. La tarta escocés era poner en fresco y era muy bueno. Los precios eran ligeramente superior a lo normal pero no me hubiera importado si la comida era el mismo. En general, fue una experiencia muy decepcionante. Lo que es una pena, ya que solía ser un "fish and chips" solía tenía ganas de visitar. Gente agradable que sirve pero no compiten con la otra tienda más al norte, a lo largo de la calle principal. Por desgracia no creo que vuelva.

Sneakily re-heats already cooked fish in far away frier with no light on. Tasteless, soggy mess. Also the only fish supper so small you could fit in your pocket. So yourself a favour and get a Chinese!

£3.70 for chips with curry sauce!!! The chips wouldn't have fed a bird!!! Will not be going back! Oh - and they really weren't nice and the curry was watery!

The food is ok but like many chip shops a bit pricey. Chips are either really good or look and taste elderly. Service is fast and friendly. Great if you fancy a treat.

This is by far the worst chip shop I have ever been to the man who served us was rude and reminded me of of a Romany gypsy like type I had a white pudding there was next to no batter on it and it must have been on display for about one week save your money do not go here

First time i have ever eaten a fish supper and still felt hungry!Service ok and food tasty but portion size was laughable 1 small piece of fish and small handful of chipsWont be back and wouldny recommend.

have used this chip shop on numerous occaissions as it's my local and have had lovely meals fromhere but unfortunally this past time ones not up too it's usual standard the chips unfortunally had gone cold by the time i got home don't get me wrong the place is lovely and the staff are always friendly but on this occasion a bit disappointed
