Bella Venezia in Solihull

Not sure what's going on with this restaurant.... In the past it has generally always been very good but afraid we will not be using or recommending it to anyone in the future. Like some other reviews, we made a reservation well in advance for two people for a Saturday night. Turned up at the time booked only to find the place closed. No sign up to say why they may be closed and unable to get any reply from them when you tried to phone, not even a recorded message. They had my mobile but did not even have the courtesy to phone to say they would not be open. We were not the only people on that night to be somewhat surprised. As we arrived, a party of four also arrived to be greeted with the same frustration... Even if they were to change the way they ran their restaurant, they don't deserve the business if they treat their customers in this way. No guarantee of a booking or them even being open would be my worry! There are plenty more good eating places in Knowle - avoid this one and try one of the others.

Booked a table this week for an anniversary meal. Arrived to find the restaurant completely closed. No message to inform us in advance. Had some lovely meals there in the past so extremely disappointed. Managed to find an alternative in Knowle.

We booked a table for 4. Received confirmation so booked taxi, then had a txt on the afternoon to cancel, no reason. Disgusting.

Our visit was cancelled just 2 hours before our arrival time in favour of a larger last minute booking . No guarantee that any booking will be honoured

I visited Bella Venezia last night with friends and I'm sad to say it was rather disappointing. The Minestrone Soup was awful...it was some type of bland soup with vegetables just added into it. The spicy Meatballs 'werent so' .The Pizzas were soggy.. I'm sure this was due to the oven not being hot enough, such a school boy error...nice toppings though! The Seabass was really, really nice but at £20, not to have it served with anything other that a curl of lemon seemed a bit pricey compared to so many other restaurants around. £3.95 per side...makes it very expensive indeed. On top of all this ,there was no nice relaxed atmosphere,the staff seemed so rushed and disconnected from us...hence no real tip being left. Will we be revisiting?...unfortunately not!

Solid Italian food in Knowle. Small dining room, so I suggest you book in advance. I really enjoyed the pizza and my partner was a fan of the pasta.

Fairly new to the area, have visited this place 3 times in the past week, amazing pizzas!!. Very friendly staff - have had take out pizza each time. Taste is amazing, beautifully cooked and delicious. Highly recommend

We have always loved coming to this restaurant and enjoying the beef stroganoff. Unfortunately tonight it was not beef stroganoff more like beef in red wine sauce with sticky rice. Oh and just a little note that the waiter kept coughing which was very off putting, didn’t see him sanitise his hands once. Really disappointed as won’t be eating here again

Took my 2 daughters for dinner this evening, and the food, staff and ambience were just right. Pleased we supported local and will be back soon.

Service and food superb as always. We have never had a bad meal and the owner / chef is so attentive and always appreciates feedback. If there is a local restaurant needing support during these difficult times, this is top of our list.

I will confess that we were drawn out by the £10 off per person offer on a Wednesday when we happened to be in the area, but we really found a gem here. This is not a cheap restaurant, but it is well worth it as the food is absolutely superb. The staff are all friendly and looked after us very well, too. We don't live in Knowle but when we do go out there for a meal again, this is where we will be going.

I believe this is a family business that’s been in Knowle for many years and we visited after lockdown for the first time, taking advantage of Eat Out to Help Out. The staff didn’t wear masks and I didn’t see any hand sanitiser so the only Covid precaution I saw was that only half the tables were in use to help with social distancing. The website needs an overhaul as it’s still featuring Mothers Day and the room needs updating, the lighting is not very atmospheric but the food is wonderful. It’s freshly prepared, the portions are good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit again.

Visited here back in Feb and it’s a wonder little restaurant with fresh food couldn’t knock it !! The service is a little slow but the food is fantastic and so reasonably priced.

Good Selection of Seafood dishes on offer, cosy homely atmosphere and nice helpful staff, looked after us through all evening. Definitely recommended! Thank you guys

We had planned to book for 8.30 but were asked if we could come early, as we were the only people other than 1 table in I can see why. Had a great value 3 course menu which we didnt know was on offer until we came in. My partner had the prawn starter and I had the veal main which was to die for. He couldnt finish his pizza so it was very kindly wrapped up. Wine was good and we had a nice and reasonably priced chianti. Bathrooms arent the nicest I will say is the only negative along with not having any music.

If I could give this restaurant 6 stars out of 5 I would, such was the quality of the food on offer. We visited with friends on New Years Eve. The service from start to finish was faultless with the waitress and Manager very amiable and attentive throughout. My starter of pan fried scallops and main meal of Saltimbocca Alla Romana were both exceptional good and exceeded my expectations. Both dishes were so full of flavour to excite the taste buds and the combination of veal with parma ham & sage in a white wine & butter sauce worked perfectly. My dessert of homemade tiramisu was equally as good. Overall, one of the best dining experiences I have had in some time and a wonderful way to see out the Old Year. I will certainly be returning here again in the near future to sample more of their culinary delights.

Had a reservation last night as we were in Knowle for the Christmas shopping event. First impression not impressed - dingy decor, looked like it hadn’t changed since the 60s.. very old fashioned. Toilet awful but clean. The food however was fantastic!! I had vegetable soup to start, tasted so fresh & delicious flavours. We all really enjoyed the food & the service was very attentive. The restaurant was cosy & intimate. Would definitely return.

Ordered the ‘special’ of crab claw, prawns and smoked salmon cocktail. The crab was not fresh white claw meat, looked like some that came out of a cat food tin, grey and dull. I was cautious, so took a small bite and instantly regretted it. My partner tired it also to verify and had to run the the bathroom to spit it out. Also Smelled horribly fishy and off. Prawns looked a little under cooked also.

I had entered bella venezia looking for a fancy Italian restaurant but I had got much more then just that! Amazing food, Amazing service and an Amazing deal that would work perfectly if u go out with a couple. I will definitely come back soon but with even more family so they can have a taste of this delicacy. Thx =)

Been at this restaurant with my family, it had such amazing food and excellent service. Was looking for a long time to find an Italian restaurant I had been to so many places around Birmigham and London but had never eaten as good food as in this restaurant.

This is my go to restaurant when I crave Italian food. This time I came back with my two friends from Sardegna, Italy. They are so amazed how the chefs cooked seafoods and steaks so perfect. We had garlic king prawns, scallops and antipasti for starter and fillet rosini, pollo involtini cooked perfectly in creamy sauce, and risotto zafferano. We all enjoyed starters and main and the service from the waiteress. Than we had desserts: homemade tiramisu and panacota. My Friends from Sardegnia said they never had such delicious food in any restaurant they ever been. And we all excited to go back again before our return to Italy. Thank you Bella Venezia and big thanks to the chef for the art made.

I dont think i can find a comfortable place with great service like bella venezia in Knowle.Everything is perfect atmosphere from staff to chefs. Lovely and warm service and food cooked to perfection. Today me and my husband has scallops and trecolore for starter and seabass and peppercorn steak for main. And home made tiramisu and home made pannacota. Real italian food and very fresh. I love it and i will always be back as it is worth for the money and time to go there ♥️ Thank you Victoria and Gabriella

This restaurant is small but provides real Italian food in a warm and friendly setting. Despite an extensive menu they are willing to adapt a dish to your liking. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. Everything is cooked to order so this is not a place for a quick meal. Take your time and enjoy the experience.

We were a party of three and had three courses each, everyone dish was different. Everyone enjoyed their food.

So myself and my girlfriend went to this restaurant for an early evening meal this Friday evening. The greeting was awesome as well as the young chap who served us and told us about the starters and how they were made.

I booked a table for a Saturday evening to celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday, and I was greeted by a wonderful group of smiling staff members, on the night we was looked after by a wonderful chap called Zak, he sat us and stood and was able to excellently conduct the special starters and mains that were on offer for the night, we all decided that we would have a starter and a main from the specials board, and I can happily say that each and every one of the meals we had cooked were cooked to absolute perfection, and was by far the best restaurant I have eaten in due to the amazing service and also most importantly the food, would highly recommend to anyone thinking about trying

There is a car park nearby and the restaurant is small enough to be termed 'cosy'. I wish it was great but everything was 'ok'. They had some images of Italy on the wall and the waiter from Turin gave it an authentic feel. It was busy on a Thursday evening, there was nothing special about the food to make me want to go back for more though the pasta and pizza were good enough. The helping of parmesan helped. Note, it was ok, I just expect something special to lift the food. If you register online you can get a discount. Everything was ok, so I hope you enjoy your meal.

Dined at this lovely restaurant on Saturday 23rd March with my two brothers as we were on a golfing weekend. And how glad we were.

I was delighted that we were all booked in to this restaurant as I’d wanted to have a meal there for years!

Dined here with my husband and daughter on Thursday evening,food was exquisite and service equally as good.Thank you and we will be returning soon.

Friendly staff and great food. The menu was varied and all of the dishes our party of four ordered were delicious.

Recently went for dinner and I must give this restaurant 5 stars as it is fantastic for excellent service and superb food, my only feedback is that the space between the seating and tables is really too small and very uncomfortable rubbing backs with the people behind you....would we still go back...YES

This is a lovely restaurant with great food and good customer service. The homemade pannacotta was the best

I am really disappointed in the service and quality of food served. The waiter was on their phone and did not offer any refreshments or desserts. The salad was old and brown, the pasta was swimming in sauce. We were sat near the toilets and as a result could smell urine. Not a pleasant experience and the waiter did nothing to deal with our issues.

Having recently moved into the area we decided that we would visit as a family with our young daughter for an Early Friday dinner. It's a small restaurant with an authentic feel. Great service from the young chap who served us, attentive and helpful (sorted out the WiFi access code)! Food was delicious and delivered promptly.

Having visited our favoured Italian restaurant last night I was disappointed with the new staff. I am not sure if it has changed ownership but a few new faces were serving. Earlier in the week I had a call requesting me to change my dining time for our table of 6 people. A return phone call was promised but never made. We all arrived on time, the food prices had all gone up and the complementary bread was noticeable by its absence.

We enjoyed a great night at Bella Venezia. The food was much improved on last time, and the extra special add on of a sing-a-long with Tony made for a great and fun evening

Fantastic authentic Italian food and surroundings. Ecxcellent service, left very full and very satisfied.

I can highly recommend the Seafood Linguine and it was the best I've had! The staff were very welcoming and we felt at home! Will come again.

Visited for an Anniversary meal. We had not eaten at the restaurant before. Pleasant cosy interior. Welcoming and attentive staff.

Have been twice this month as the food is excellent, had the salmon pasta both times and I can’t fault it! All food is freshly prepared and the second time we went they’d run out of tiramisu but no problem for them as they made us some fresh right there and didn’t even charge for it! Brilliant, will be going back.

Our first and last time to this restaurant. In fairness the staff were ok but the food was not good. Bland starters and gloopy mains (risotto and linguine). The upsetting thing is that they would not accept The Times dining offer saying they knew nothing about it although they were notified by email that we intended to use this offer which is still on the Times site. Go elsewhere to avoid disappointment. I will be asking the Times to delete this restaurant from their approved list.

I cannot thank the whole team of Bella Venezia enough for helping us celebrate our engagement. We booked the whole restaurant for 36 people and we all had a fantastic evening. The food was excellent, no bad comments at all and the service was perfect, especially Claudio.

Fantastic service, excellent food, well priced. Warm, friendly staff, very welcoming would visit again when next in area.

Didn’t try the pizza or pasta here but the rest we had was ok. The service was warm and efficient but they need to raise their game in the food quality department.

Decent Italian restaurant, run by Italians. Food wasn't bad, but have had better. Milanese, Saltimboca, pasta all good. Wine list could be better but the Nero D,Avola was good and not too expensive. Service was excellent. Would go again.

Found this place on Open Table and liked the write-ups. Easy to find and get parked nearby (we have a wheelchair). Couldn’t have been more accommodating. Friendly service and efficient. Delicious sardines special followed by saltimbocca - packed with flavour. My partner had chicken and salmon linguine, equally tasty. Nice atmosphere, and reasonably priced.

We had a meal here last night for our 25th wedding anniversary, walked in at 7pm could see that there were tables laid for a large party but despite that we were looked after by the waiters and didn't feel we were kept waiting for anything at all. Having said that this is a very small restaurant and it does feel cramped with barely enough room to put all the food dishes on your table for your meal, for me the chairs were uncomfortable but I am not tall or very big so my back might have just caught the bar on the back of the chair for that reason. The meal was very nice but not something I would rave about, still it is moderately priced but I've had food elsewhere that I can honestly say 'wow' to - Tewkesbury Park Hotel for one! All in all I feel this restaurant is not about the comfort and enjoyment of customers but rather a business just making money.

Visited for an evening meal, first time for us and the last! We were not treated very well and felt totally ignored. The fire alarm went off twice during our time there and out of the 4 occupied tables at the time, ours was the the only one that received no apology. Nobody talked us through the 'specials' board and although every other table had a complimentary shot on paying we didn't.Food was nice enough but not outstanding, Not the best experience tonight and won't be recommending it to friends & family - shame!

Went here for Valentines Day, complete shambles. Service was awful, 3 waiters for just 13 tables and we struggled to get any service at all, we had to literally wave to try and get attention or tap waiters on the shoulder as they wondered around aimlessly. Food wasn't very nice at all, smoked duck breast left a bitter after taste, chicken in what was supposed to be a sauce was swimming skin on in what looked like dish water. The lemon sorbet was so frozen and took so long to get out the glass it was served in that it took an eternity to try and dig out, a shovel would have been more appropriate. Poor young couple who had the misfortune of being seated near the door had a stream of people coming in and overseeing their dinner, one almost felt like pulling up a chair for them. Awful night on what was supposed to be a romantic night and at £35.00 per person was a complete rip off.

The food was appalling, service was equally as bad, and waited the entire evening for a drink which still hadn't arrived after dessert, despite asking multiple times.

Had an excellent meal last week with my wife. The food was incredible and the service was perfect. Our waiter named Tom was attentive and cracked a couple of jokes as well. He even packed my left overs into a small box for me to take home. An excellent night and will be returning soon!

We had dinner here again and it was very nice. Good authentic Italian at very good prices. The ambiance is good, though would be good to change the songs on occasion.

Came here just before Xmas- really tiny, cosy and friendly family run restaurant.

As i always do, had scallops and prawns for Starter, in an amazing sauce, well decorated, and for my main had seabass, cooked to perfection, couldnt ask for more, and the Home made Tiramisu was the cherry on top for the evening. Service is very friendly, and food was on time even that they were very very busy. I am so impresed.

How do you spell that? I guess it depends on your accent? But that’s what springs to mind on my on visit. It’s all right, okay, if it were the only place in town, I’d go again. Better here than a homogenised chain maybe. For me anyway. I suspect the night I visited the usual front of house person wasn’t in. But, courteous, efficient enough, quite enjoyed the house white. Food was plentiful, main course was okay, the rest quite nice. Deserves a three and a half ideally, but I can’t tap the four when the guide says very good for that. Yeah, tsoroit.

Visited this restaurant while staying overnight in Knowle travelling North. The restaurant is very small but pleasant enough. Staff were welcoming and friendly and service was fine.

Visited with a large group on a Thursday evening and enjoyed a fantastic evening in the company of Tony Fellini's music and song accompanied by very good food and friendly service

We had dinner here prior to a gig at Genting Arena and it was really good. Very nice authentic Italian food in a cute and cosy setting. We will be back!

Me and my partner decided to return to have a dinner at bella venezia as the first time there was amazing. We had scallops, king prawns cooked in a very nice special sauce, followed by steak and seabass cooked to perfection with nice sauces on the side. We will always be returning to have nice dinners like this. Really thank you all the staff of bella venezia for the service they offer.

There are a lot of restaurants in Knowle and this one is one of the best. Good choice of Pizza, Pasta dishes and Primi Piatti. There were 6 of us, so we managed to cover most of the menu and it was delicious. This is a small restaurant so it can get intimate, but it had a very relaxed atmosphere. You'll find it next to Hunters estate agents and opposite Lloyds bank.

3 of us had arranged to go for dinner in the Solihull area, but weren't sure what or where we fancied going.I had been to Bella Venezia a long time ago and remembered the good food, so we decided to give it a go.From the warm welcome we received we knew we wouldn't be disappointed & we weren't.I had lasagna, my sister steak and my mum a stroganoff - all of which were fantastic !We saved room for a dessert and could tell they were home made, all tasted delicious.Great food & service with a fantastic atmosphere - we look forward to returning.

Second time here and another lovely relaxed evening.Front of house was again courteous and attentive and both waiters were smart and confident in explaining the menu and specials. Claudio was his usual charming self and we were treated to complimentary shots after our meal was finished.The filletto Rosinni was delicious but best of all for a starter we asked if they could prepare something not on the menu a yummy tomato garlic bread, it's the only place we have found that does this in the area!! Nothing was too much trouble and we will be returning.Thank you team Bella Venezia

Thought that we would try this restaurant one evening and had the best Saltimbocca ever, wife had fantastic liver dish. Went back a week later and enjoyed another meal: sea bass this time. Food is fantastic.Minor grouse is that the restaurant is very small and the noise level became uncomfortable. This is a far too common problem and often puts me off going back to good food locations.

Ok. Pizza was okay. Steak okay. Pasta okay. You get the idea. Nothing stood out. Dough balls a bit under done.

From the musty smell on entry to the average and really overpriced food, this was an experience we won't be repeating.Our bill was £91 for one glass of wine, three soft drinks, a calamari starter, shared antipasti for two, mains were carbonara, veal, pizza and steak. This was overpriced for the quality, including cold potatoes, tasteless carbonara, ok steak.It would have been good value at half the price.Waiter was nice, and four complimentsry dough balls were good too.

Everything cooked to perfection, mussels and scallops for starter and for main steak and seabass cooked in a very delicious sauce with side of prawns roasted patatos and steamed herbed vegetables, we compliment the chef to the friendly waiter Clodian, we had the chance to meet the amazing head chef Victoria so we could thank her for that amazing food she prepared for us. I have never had such an amazing dinner in any restaurants ihv eaten before. Highly recommend this place as the best restaurant in the Area

We have recently moved to the area and my parents were visiting for the first time so I wanted to take them somewhere special. Bella Venezia certainly didn't disappoint! The food was lovely and you could tell it had been freshly cooked with quality ingredients. The service was excellent and the staff were knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating and made sure we had a lovely evening. Thank you, we will definitely be back.

Having seen good reports, we decided to try Bella Venezia for ourselves for a special celebration meal. We weren't disappointed. Intimate but full of atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff; and the food was excellent. Reasonably priced, high quality and perfectly cooked. We couldn't have asked for more. First visit.... not the last!

I choose this Italian restaurant as it ranked highest on trip advisor for Knowle, two star is being generous for this place, I can quite honestly say that I'm disgusted by the quality of food served, the service of front of house earnt them the stars. I have eat at other Italian's in Knowle and I can honestly say they are a million times better than this place. I have never used trip advisor prior to now but I feel that passionately against the meal we have just been served that I felt obliged to share my experience.. I took my parents and sister out to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Was bitterly disappointed as was looking forward to this meal. Was in and out within the hour starters and mains, microwaved Luke warm food.

We booked late during the Easter weekend and they managed to squeeze us in. It was a really friendly atmosphere with great service and delicious food. It certainly hit the spot for all of us.

We had a family meal here tonight and had a wonderful evening. We were looked after so well and the food was excellent. Lovely feel and atmosphere to this lovely hidden gem. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

The waiter was outstanding, he was knowledgeable and very polite, however the food wasn't to the same standard. The pasta was over cooked in quite a bland tomato sauce, and the lamb was tough. Ethel atmosphere in the restaurant was good

Only eat here if you want to wake up with a really dry mouth due to salty food. We visited a mid-week evening and found one other couple and an assurance that they would be more busy later. They were not. After bread & olives, we ordered starters which looked good and large. The mains of veal a la creme was also generous but not up to the standard we would expect and salty. And the sauted potatoes were roast. Sorry we wont be coming back

I came across this small Italian restaurant by chance, when shopping in Knowle from nearby Coventry. It was my husband's birthday and he really wanted to have an Italian meal. I thought we'd try Bella Venezia to see what it was like and it was more than we could have expected. Although when we arrived at 6pm and we were the only customers, the place quickly filled up (a good sign). From the outset, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The meals were boiling hot when they arrived, with more than enough to satisfy our appetite, even though I just managed to eat a homemade tiramisu. By the time we had left around an hour and a half later, the restaurant was almost full (7.30pm). I cannot thank the staff enough for making my husband's birthday, with his favourite meal of veal and your offer of a birthday drink on the house, which we had to refuse, as he had had three quarters of a bottle of wine and I was driving. We will definitely be returning and spreading the news amongst my friends. Thanks again to all the staff, including the kitchen, who made us a terrific meal.
