Bella Rosa Italian Restaurant in East Riding of Yorkshire

First visit to Bella Rosa at lunch time today. All I can say is, FANTASTIC.

Birthday meal with friends who had been before. Extremely small and narrow room which meant my clothes smelt of cooking when we left. On booking for 7.00pm we were advised we would have to leave before 9.00pm as they closed then!! On the door closing time was recorded as 9.30 so not impressed to start with. There was a large menu but we agreed on main and pudding only (as time was of the essence and the restaurant was busy). Very limited choice of wines because (according to the waiter) there was limited storage space. Drinks very reasonably priced however. Three main courses were enjoyed very much; Salmon in Lemon Sauce, Duck with red wine and prune jus and a Trio of Chicken/ Prawns and Chorizo. My own choice, a favourite of mine, was Chicken Stroganoff. The chicken was overcooked and stringy and the brandy appeared to be well and truly cooked off as there was no flavour to the sauce. Service was appalling. Meals and cutlery were passed across in front of us in a confusing Speech and attitude of the girl waitresses was sloppy to say the least. An array of desserts were available and we enjoyed Tiramisu and Panne Cotta. Two orders for coffee were missed off and had to be reordered. Altogether, extremely disappointed by this meal and 3 of us wished we had chosen 'Santi' across the street and infinitely superior. Will not be returning.

Reasonably priced Italian; never had a bad meal here. There’s something for everyone on the menu, so great for groups. We usually go on a Sunday afternoon, after our quarterly exam session!

Very nice Italian restaurant, reasonably priced, good choice of authentic Italian food, friendly staff. Quick service, great food, plenty of parking, overall a great place to eat. The staff accommodated my request to change the ingredients slightly, very positive experience. Can definitely recommend and will be sure to come back!

Absolutely brilliant place and one of the best Italians in this area for a very reasonable price. Starter + main + dessert + cocktail for just over £35. Service was super nice and helpful and I will be definitely going back.

Visited with friends on Thursday evening. I had been twice before with family. We had preordered our food due to being a larger booking. From walking in I felt relaxed, the service was excellent, not rushed but efficient. And the food as always was delicious. I love this place and can’t wait to go again. Definitely recommend

The food was excellent however we felt very rushed as no sooner had we put our cutlery down our plates were taken away when I still had a mouthful of food. This happened with both dinner courses. There was only a few minutes between finishing our starters to the main course being served. The restaurant lacked ambience for us and was cold it seemed like a back door was open.

Wow how have we never been here before…. 100% will be returning and think this is our new favourite place to eat in Hull! Thankyou so much for the gorgeous food and friendly service 🤍

Last night was very hectic for the staff given the date (Feb 14th) that said we had a very nice meal, staff were polite and helpful, as well as replacing a table candle when it went out. Recommended.

Went Last night for valentines.. food was absolutely fantastic. My wife had muscles for starters and risotto for main she said was the best risotto she ever tasted. I had the bolognase beautiful. Staff very welcoming and service for food and drink very quick. Made the evening very special would definitely recommend and we will be back very soon. Thanks for making our night amazing

We've been a few times now and it has been a pleasant experience on each occasion. Food is wonderful, service is just how you'd want it and great value for money. We'll be popping back soon

Called and placed order at 19:07 Order: Bella trio and chips £11.95 Ribs and chips £10.95 Garlic bread mozzarella + Nduja £6 & calamari £5.75. Was told this full order would be ready by 19:15. Even called back to double check they got that right. Arrived at 19:20. Service from staff was professional, quick and friendly. The food itself: the garlic bread and calamari w/ sauce was spot on. No complaints. The mains however turned out to be what I expected with how quick it was prepared. Ribs: The food wasn’t cooked fresh. The sauce it was in was watery as if it had been cooked, left in a fridge and then maybe boiled whilst inside the plastic bag it was stored in. The flavour wasn’t completely gone but it wasn’t enjoyable. The bones themselves fell apart as I was eating which made it worst because it was all mixing in together making it difficult to eat. For the price of £10.95 the portion size was generous but i feel that’s to make up for lack of quality. The chicken trio: didn’t taste fresh and lacked flavour. Again this type of dish doesn’t usually take less than ten minutes to prepare fresh. Chips: really good chips. Cooked just right. Portion size is half of the box it comes in but I can take that on the chin. The restaurant itself was full (Saturday night) so not sure if it was just all a rushed mess because they had more orders then could handle but based off this experience I won’t be eating here any time soon especially when there is other well established Italians in the area. This is purely and honest review of my experience on this occasion.

Sea bass excellent linguine with sea food excellent thought the waiter was a bit abrupt but

12 of us met for my 60 th birthday. From the welcome to the end we all had a positive experience. The food was excellent and we all really enjoyed. We had a few drinks to celebrate and it was good to catch up with friends. Service was great and they were busy. Thanks for making my milestone birthday special.

Just had a lovely meal at this restaurant. The food was hot, tasty and filling. Unfortunately that is we're the positives end. When we arrived and said we had a booking, the waiter pointed towards the window and said "you're over there"...not a good start. A young girl took our drinks order then the waiter that had pointed to our table came over to us and stood there with his pad and pen and looked at us. He did not ask if we were ready to order so my husband gave our order for the starters, still no response from him. So we gave him our mains to which he said to me " potatoes, chips or rice" I asked for potatoes. We were then expecting a thank you but alas nothing forthcoming. When our food came it was just put on the table with not a single word spoken. Even when our plates were taken away, we weren't asked if everything was ok. The waiter then started to walk across with a desert menu but turned round before my husband had a chance to read it. We decided that we'd had enough so I asked him for the bill to which he said "bill" so I said yes. This experience, eventhough the food was lovely, has left a sour taste in our mouths.

Gorgeous gem of a restaurant. Food is delicious, with both vegan and gluten free options. Looking forward to a return visit.

Called up 20/1/24 to order takeaway looked on website and on their specific takeaway menu … called up to place order at 7.50pm and was told they just had a party of 36 arrive and takeaway was dependant on how busy they are so the manager (a male) told me to call back at 9pm and he would be able to take the order … I waited till 9.05pm and called back the manager answered and went back on what he had said and refused my order and then said nobody at the restaurant had told this to me ? Very dissapointing treating people like this and wasting peoples time ! I told him I would leave a review and he casually said go on then go ahead ! Why not use some common sense and put a note on takeaway menu saying please call to confirm takeaway is available ?

What a gem. Thank you to Chris and the team for a wonderful family meal. Full of flavour, beautifully presented and expertly attended to. Lasagne is amazing , pizza garlic bread was gorgeous, pasta dishes all very much enjoyed and our little boy asks to come back every week! Would recommend dining here to anyone :)

We were a large booking of 11 and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service we received was excellent. We were made to feel very welcome and will definitely return.

Been here a couple of times now and the food is always delicious, recommend ordering the duck as it was incredible. Also ordered one of the Christmas cocktails which was a gingerbread espresso martini and it was even better than expected.

I ordered a sirloin steak cooked rare, which ended up being served as well done. Asked for a replacement and was given a medium rare which I didn’t complain about. However, the cut of steak was low quality and extremely difficult to cut and chew for a sirloin. Overall a poor experience although service wasn’t terrible.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed Bella Rosa yet but we seem to forget to do this for our favourite local places. We first started to visit when they were forced to trade as takeaway only with the covid shutdowns but quickly realised the food was excellent. We've been visiting from as soon as the restrictions were removed and have been regulars since. Food, wine and cocktails are always top notch and very reasonably priced. Staff friendly, professional and courteous. Completely consistent in my experience. Best to book if you can but they'll accommodate short notice requests whenever possible. Highly recommended :)

Back in April I wrote a review of this restaurant saying I wouldn't go again and why. To the owners credit he solved the main issue - a waitress who didn't understand the meaning of the word hospitality. As she was no longer working there I returned with my business colleagues and had a very pleasant lunch. Will I go again? Yes.

Well!!! Not good, the saying is !! If you can’t do a great Pizza then give up !’ So I’d give up, it was tasteless, soggy and just plain horrible ! and that was just the good points ! Service terrible , a waiter with just no personality at all, don’t waste Petrol driving here !! Cold atmosphere but thank god they sold beer! The only good thing about the evening was, I gave the pizza the mother in law to take home :) I won’t be coming back ! If you want a pizza like this just go to Tesco !! and they are much much better !

Great food at a great price, well worth a visit!

We go regularly to Bella Rosa and are never disappointed. It was my 60th Birthday and we chose our favourite place. The food is really tasty and all very reasonable.. i .would highly recommend it. It does get busy, so i would suggest booking early to not be disappointed.

Celebrated my daughters 18th here. Food and service amazing. Do nice cocktails too. Will be going back 👌😋

Delicious food. Service extremely good - helpful and efficient staff. Tragically, I was too full to finish my tiramisu but I can confirm it’s divine. Lovely restaurant.

Huge menu but surprisingly little choice for vegetarians. Verdura pizza was huge and had lovely toppings. Too big to finish. Side salad was nicely presented. We were a group of 6 and were asked to pre-order when we reserved a table.

Had a family lunch here on Saturday. Food was good. Service was good, although they got my order mixed up at first, what I had was really nice. The only negative is they don't seem to want you to pay separately even though we were three separate parties. But they were quite busy so understandable I suppose.

Birthday lunch which was delicious. We were a party of 19 and the food was superb, very reasonably priced aswell. Chris and his staff were lovely and attentive. Definitely recommend this one!! :-)

Visited as a party of 10 for a birthday celebration. We pre ordered our food as requested. The food was very good and the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, the service was lacking a little. The staff were polite but not very attentive, and made no effort to offer anything extra or strike up any sort of conversation. We were ready and willing to spend at least another £100 on desserts, drinks and coffees but nobody came over, despite having 3 staff members, and only 3 tables in the restaurant. We went to the bakery next door instead and had desserts and coffees at home. In conclusion, we wouldn't rush back.

Fantastic meal and service however left with sour taste having been told to leave as next customers waiting in the rain! Good evening ruined!!!!

Been here a few times and it used to be decent... now you get barely 1/3 of a tin of soup and bread without butter. Chicken was overcooked, too. Waitress had no idea of the drinks on the menu when asked and another one lacked basic customers service skills. Can't even get the basics right! UPDATE: Not surprised with the sarcastic unprofessional response to this review from the owner. Clearly unable to take constructive criticism and take into account even getting just the basics right in future! Zero customer service. Re-scored the rating because of this. Will NOT be returning. 👎🏻

Had my mam's 70th birthday here on the 9th June. The food was excellent, and so was the service, They even came and sang happy birthday to her, when they brought the cake out. Would go here again

The food and service at Bella Rosa are always first class .Always a warm welcome and the prices are very good .This is always the first restaurant mentioned when friends are going out for an Italian meal.

This restaurant is such amazing value for money. Food is tasty and fresh. Waiter (possibly the owner) is always so friendly and helpful. Lots of vegetarian choices for me (although would love a veggie lasagne). Venue has nice decor and is very clean. Highly recommend.

Myself and my partner booked last minute one Thursday night, a cheeky little child free night! We booked for 8pm, on arrival we were given a lovely seat in the window. I had Arancini and Seabass and my partner had the Anti Misti (meats and breads) and Fillet steak. All of our food was delicious. The staff were all very friendly and the manager came to see us many times to make sure everything was ok. The price for our meal was really reasonable for what we had. £22 for a lovely fillet steak including all sides is great value. I ordered a large glass of house red (early morning stopped us ordering a bottle) for £3.95 which you just don’t find anymore, it’s normally around £8/£9. We will be back as a couple and with our children. Great value and service and delicious food! Thank you and see you again soon.

Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. My second time visiting the restaurant and the experience was again a fabulous time

Would I go again? Probably not. The greeting / welcome was very average, the menu offered a good variety of dishes, the food was very good, the restaurant itself was OK in its decor and the service - from the gentleman who delivered most of the service - was efficient. So why not go again? Because some of the service was delivered by probably the most miserable waitress in Hull and just the thought of going back and her perhaps being responsible for delivering all or the majority of the service is too off-putting. She'd spoil lunch. I don't get it. Hospitality definition: the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers Why do restaurants (who are in the 'hospitality' industry) employ people who are clearly not suited to it? It costs them business. And it will cost this restaurant business too. It already has. A shame.

Been to Bella Rosa in Anlaby a number of times, we decided to celebrate our Golden wedding Anniversary with them, Saint Patrick's day, Boy they did not let us down, The food, service we received from all the staff was superb, they will go out...

If you want Italian cuisine then go to Bella Rosa ! Fantastic atmosphere, amazing service and food to die for ! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff just make sure you are hungry when you go as rhe portion sizes are very generous, we will certainly be going again.

First time we had been here, good choice of food, service and food were good, would go again.

Service was amazing fromm all staff from start to finish. My lasagne was fantastic, mouth watering. My husband said his fillet steak was the best he's tasted and such value for money. Definitely will be paying another visit

Food and service excellent. Waitress was attentive without being pushy, house white wine was really good, food was the best I've eaten in an Italian restaurant outside Italy. Three people very impressed. Will certainly be returning.

Owner can't take constructive criticism poor service should have read reviews before ever coming here I won't be surprised if I don't get a snotty reply now with the words kind regards Bella rose as I've noticed that every time they get bad review there is always an excuse of some sort. Not holding their hands up and just admitting that their service needs bringing up to scratch for the prices they charge overall poor experience with less than adequate portion sizes and over priced drinks avoid

Was recommended this place by friends so was looking forward to dining here with my husband . We both had starters which were delicious;I had from the specials board tagliatelle with king prawns and smoked salmon and he had a king prawn dish wit tagliatelle....

Really nice homely restaurant. Meals, starters and desserts were very good. Only gripe is that the garlic bread had a cheap spread on it- not butter. I think if you gave your customers the choice- authentic garlic butter or cheap spread and no real garlic,...

We are huge fans of Bella Rosa - we love the food, staff and atmosphere. They have catered to our requests and cooked something not on the lunch menu on several occasions. The restaurant is family friendly and the food is out of this world. Best Italian restaurant in the area
