Belgica in Liverpool

As a lover of Belgian beer I felt like a kid in a candy shop. Plenty of choice and quick service. Bit pricey but Belgian beer is always more expensive so was expected.

We arrived for our booking on time and were seated at a dirty table. We had to ask for it to be wiped. The place was a mess, dirty glasses everywhere, filthy toilets. Girl behind the bar wearing earphones while serving, spent the whole time going on about how she hadn’t been to bed and how f***ed she was last night. We’d booked for the normal menu, we were given bottomless brunch menus. Explained that we didn’t want the bottomless brunch and were told that we couldn’t get table service for the normal menu. What’s that all about? We can’t have table service so we have to wait for ages while the bar serves the drinks for everyone else who was getting table service. Menu online didn’t correspond with the menu we were given, lots of items unavailable. By the time they gave us cutlery our food was cold. I had been told by others to expect a great experience but honestly there is nothing anyone could say to persuade me to visit again nor to recommend it to anyone else. The only thing which was good about it was the beer and you didn’t make that.

Me and my friends came for brunch it is best place in my opinion for bottomless and food doesn’t look like much but fills you up so much. Our waitress Shannon was amazing and provided best hospitality service I have ever experienced. She really made my birthday perfect !!! If you want a place good food good drinks good vibes go to Belgica coz the way the staff are makes the vibes so much more of an experience.

A big fan of the beers brewed in Belgium so when Belgica opened it's doors I visited here and from my first visit I knew this would become my go to bar in the city. Love the look of the bar ,it's cool ,wonderful cosy decor and furnishings ,a cool looking serving bar and great wall art plus lots of seating options,it's just a great bar to unwind in. We were here on a bitterly cold night ,bar was warm ,we ordered bottles of Vedett Brewery " extra blonde " tried this fine beer before on previous visits to here and it's always served in perfect condition,we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular bar. I love this beer ,a pleasantly hoppy and slightly malty aroma,there's a bitterness to this brew I really enjoy ,it's dry with a hint of lemon ,it's a beer style that brings me back to the many taverns in the great city's of Belgium I've visited for the last thirty years,hardly surprising this bar is so popular with beers of this quality. We totally enjoyed our beers in here ,can't wait for our next visit here. Belgica is easy to locate along Wood Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday ,4pm till 11pm. Friday & Saturday,midday till 1am. Sunday,midday till 11am. A great beer bar ,one I highly recommend you seek out if you're in the area.

Belgica in Wood street is a superb Belgium beer bar that offer a brilliant Belgium beer range and tasty food menu and is in a very lively area of the city centre.This is a really good beer bar that specialise's in Belgium beers and is a joy to visit. Belgica has a Belgium inspired interior with many interesting fixtures and features that relate to Belgium and Belgium beers.There are superb seating options throughout the whole interior and in the basement there is a cocktail bar that stays open late into the night over the weekend. We have been to this superb bar numerous times since its opened as we like beer from Belgium and this place is without doubt the perfect bar to try Belgium beers.We visited here early in the evening and this fantastic bar was starting to get busy as there was a live music act on. When we visited here we had a few bottles of Vedett brewery Extra White an excellent Belgium Wheat beer which where excellent and price-wise what I would expect to pay for a beer of this quality.This is an excellent Belgium beer bar and a bar we go to every time were in the city centre and well worth visiting if your in this area of the city centre of Liverpool.Easy to get to from Bold street bus stop its a short walk.(This is my second review of Belgica). Before starting a weeks holiday in Vienna and then a weeks holiday in Prague over the Christmas period my twin brother Stephen and I decided to have a day out in Liverpool City Centre hitting some of the great pubs and bars our city is justifiably famous for ,at the top of our list of places to visit was Belgica ,arguably the best beer bar in the city and certainly the best bar for sampling great beers from Belgium. I love the look of this bar ,the interior is superb ,an eye catching serving bar ,wonderful decor and furnishings,amazing wall art and lots of seating options ,it's a great bar to just chill out in. We were here on a bitterly cold evening ,a slight drizzling of snow,bar was warm as was the welcome from the staff on duty ,we ordered a beer we sampled on our last visit here namely Vedett extra blonde by Duvel Mootgat Brouwerij ,these were served in tip top condition,we chilled out and took in and soaked up the great vibe in this very popular beer bar. This is such a great beer ,it's really refreshing and very drinkable indeed ,it's a hoppy brew,very malty ,it's just a wonderful brew indeed . We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and as on all previous visits to here we had a great time. Belgica is easy to locate along Wood Street. Opening hours are; Monday & Tuesday,closed. Wednesday & Thursday,open from 5pm. Friday to Sunday,open from midday. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Was really looking forward to coming here for the festive bottomless brunch. We came for the normal bottomless brunch back in May 2022 and loved it - food was excellent, service was amazing and it was well worth the money - in fact, we would happily have paid more. So we rebooked when the festive brunch was advertised but this experience was the complete opposite. All of the advertisements on their social media channels contradicted what was actually on offer. Initially advertised was 3 small plates, cocktails, Belgian beers, mulled wine, eggnog, baileys, crackers and mince pies. We were then told it was only 2 small plates, and the portions we actually received were tiny. A table sat next to us were eating from the normal brunch menu and received 3 small plates and much larger portions (and were also paying less). Staff weren’t very pleasant when dealing with a couple of issues we had - such as the cold, hard camembert. When asked to heat this up it was microwaved to within an inch of its life and left no longer edible. The roast potatoes were hard, and lacked any flavour. We asked about the advertised complimentary mince pies/crackers - staff said they weren’t made aware of this. We were also told we could only order from a limited number of cocktails listed on a paper menu (last time it was all cocktails) and staff were unaware of the offering of mulled wine and Baileys - but they did honour this for us. For the first couple of rounds staff were forthcoming with taking our orders, however for the remainder of our time they were slow - but we appreciate it did get busier. However, on a couple of occasions we were left missing drinks off our orders for long periods of time - at one point a member of our group was without a drink for 45 minutes, even after asking the staff numerous times. The staff did discount our payment to match the price of the normal bottomless brunch (£35 a head). However, we were still extremely disappointed and did not think this festive brunch was worth the money at all, especially when compared to the normal bottomless brunch and to the great experience we had here in May.

After reading reviews and personal recommendations I booked here for 6 of us…..as said 3 plates, then reduced to 2 however they honoured the 3. I can honestly say this was the worst food Iv ever attempted to eat. Roast potatoes and gravy, well 4 half spuds that were that hard you couldn’t bite them and gravy that was a pit of jelly even upside down it didn’t budge. Pigs in blankets with Yorkshire pjs stuffed with beef….no Yorkshire pud just a few pigs in blankets and another pot of jelly. Baked Camembert that was a solid splodge of just mess, then came the waffle with ice cream at the same time as the other food. It was that hard it was impossible to put a fork in ! The cocktails were good when they eventually came as we had to ask for menus and then ask 3 times for the first drink 20 minutes into the 1 hour 45 we eventually got one. The staff were great and were devastated by the food coming out, I was so disappointed and the general feeling of the rest of that was the same. The server actually said they were quitting as they couldn’t take it anymore. Such a shame as I believe in the past it was great but the Christmas bottomless brunch has not only let them down but all the customers that booked it.

This is my second visit to this fab place. Bottomless brunch is by far the best I've had. Great food, fantastic drink choices all made perfectly and Harriet made sure we had everything we needed!! (all with a smile even tho she was super busy dealing with several tables) Our party have booked to come back next month, cant wait 🙂

Great bar with great beer and a great jukebox. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town. Just writing words now to reach the word limit but for christ sake go and visit, it's worth it.

The name gives it away a fair bit but wasn’t expecting such a range of bottled beers and imports. I work around the corner and visit fairly often, drinking the same bottle most nights. Excellent service from a bartender called Harriet and go recommended something similar once they had sold through their stock. Would recommend!!

What a great place Belgica is! It’s only been going about a year and nestled opposite FACT down Wood Street in central Liverpool it is a must visit! They have a wide range of Belgian beers in bottle and on draught ( I enjoy the Lambics and the Delirium Red) and there are some delicious Belgian small plates. Special shout out to Harriet who went completely out of her way to look after myself and my daughter taken we came to visit. We’ll be back!

Went back here for another bottomless brunch and I can’t fault it. Last time we were here, we gave some feedback about how they should be charging more and limiting the food options and they had done just that this time around. £35 for 90 minutes is well worth the money when the cocktails are wonderful and the food is delicious. this place is a ‘hidden gem’ but easily found if seeking it out. I’ve been here 3 times now in the last few months, and two of them were for a bottomless brunch. Our waitress (I can’t remember her name, she was Irish) was wonderful and very attentive to our needs and kept the drinks flowing, which is what makes a brunch 10/10. Thank you, we will be back again soon.
