A wonderful resturant and fully deserving of its good reviews. We found it via the Time Out guide to the best restaurants in Liverpool and it lived up to the billing. The Disco Cauliflower, Sea Bass and whipped Goast Cheese were fantastic and a must. The Fattoush and cheesecake were good, but not to the same level as the rest of the meal. The Spelling Bee was also a lovely gin based cocktail to start.

What a great place, friendly and with excellent food .

Stunning little restaurant, which lives up to its reputation. Between two, we had the Disco Cauliflower, Falafel Sharer, Halloumi and Fried Chicken. Plenty for us, but we finished everything. Staff really chilled and friendly. Will definitely be returning.

Absolutely fabulous food, service staff are very attentive and relaxed vibrant atmosphere. A great place for dinner prior to the Philharmonic. Would definitely recommend and will be back soon. Thank you 🙏

Disco Cauliflower, I'm saying nothing else.

What a fabulous restaurant. We booked for 3:30 and had access to the brilliant lunch menu which offers one mezze and two plates for £19. Each dish was delicious and was beautifully presented. Three dishes each was more than enough to eat and we had a table full of stunning food. Service was friendly and attentive and you can see the chef plating up the dishes.

First time diners on Wednesday evening and I can't recommend Maray enough. My boyfriend is notoriously hard to please but he loved all the plates we ordered - impressing him is not easy! Thank you Team Bold St for a really lovely experience. We will be back for those divine carrots x

Fabulous little restaurant. Really friendly staff and superb atmosphere. The food was exceptional and such a great variety of flavours, all well cooked and beautifully presented. The waitress was really helpful in ensuring we ordered the right amount and helped also to describe some of the dishes to help us order what we would enjoy. Overall it was a fantastic evening.

This time we went to the bold Street restaurant. Like it’s Systar restaurant down at the docks, it is not very large. Absolutely today’s rule applies; you have to book ahead for this place and I will say booking head as well worth it. This was the best food we had over a long weekend in Liverpool. Everything was really excellent. They squeeze us in at the bar and that turned out to be just fine and an easy way to share the tapas plates that they had. Everything from food to service and even value for money was just great. This will definitely be among the top choices when we are next in the city.

Best falafel I’ve ever had!! My third or fourth time eating at Maray and every time it’s exceptional - love it SO much. The disco cauliflower is incredible too, and the bread and butter date syrup pudding absolutely sensational.

This was one of the nicest meals we’ve had for so long! The atmosphere in Maray is just lovely - contemporary and comfortable. The menu has a great selection of contemporary North African/Middle Eastern dishes, and great accommodation of different dietary requirements. It would be impossible to pick a favourite dish, everything went together so well, however the disco cauliflower was a huge treat. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and anticipated our needs perfectly. We spent a lovely evening there!

It’s a bold, delicious explosion of textures and flavours that’s not to be missed. For dessert, we couldn’t resist their bread and butter pudding. A comforting, yet elevated take on the classic, it hit all the right notes with its rich, buttery layers and just the right amount of sweetness. If you’ve never been to Maray, do yourself a favor—go! Food tastes great, but it’s very overpriced. My wife and I spent £45 and left hungry. The baba ganoush and fattoush are criminally expensive considering the laughably tiny portions you get. The service and the taste of the food were great.

The food was good, but menu needs to be updated to achieve excellence again. Wine list after becoming really adventurous has returned to dull and generic.

Went on spec, on the basis of earlier reviews and it was such excellent vegetarian food that we went again with our daughter the next night. She has gluten intolerance and was brought a special menu from which to choose. Excellent, wish we lived nearer!

Maybe it was an off night - we were later told that the kitchen was really busy - but this was an overwhelmingly disappointing experience after Bold Street Maray being a 'go to' spot for us for many years. Three of the five courses we ordered were reasonably good (pitta & hummus, cauliflower bhajis, and fries) but nothing exceptional. But the roasted broccoli and disco cauliflower were a huge disappointment. These were not the stand-out vegan dishes we remember. Both were soggy and overcooked to the point of being flavourless, with the cauliflower being overwhelmed by what can only be described as a "generic barbecue sauce", and the broccoli being sat in a gloopy tomato sauce - that tasted of tomato puree. We even looked at photos online of what the dishes are supposed to look like. So overall, it wasn't a great experience, especially as it was a meal we booked for our wedding anniversary. Granted, money was taken off the bill but I doubt we will return to Bold Street Maray.

Food and drinks were lovely but service very lacking. Finished our main meals and enjoyed another drink. At this point we had decided that a dessert and another drink would be nice but after waiting 35 minutes for a member of staff to be on the floor and come anywhere near our table, we decided to just get the bill and leave. Will not be back due to service, might try the Albert dock one if we wanted to try the food again.

Sadly, our first and last visit to Maray. Table booked for 6.15. We arrived on time and ordered 2 glasses of wine, a sharing platter and a portion of potatoes. Wine arrived, but we were still waiting for our food at 7.00pm. Other tables were being served before us, which added to our disappointment. After several prompts to the waiting staff we decided to leave without eating as we had a cinema reservation for 7.30. Our server was very apologetic and informed us we would not be charged for the wine or water. Not a good experience. Fell short of our expectations.

Not a bad word to say about this restaurant. The food is delicious especially the Disco cauliflower. The staff who served us were lovely.. really friendly and helpful at the same time as being super efficient. Would recommend this place to anyone.

I only popped in because I was in town and I'd read that Maray had reintroduced the falafel wrap. They have and it didn't disappoint. Amazing!

Outstanding Small Plate experience facing Albert Docks. Service was exceptional with staff taking time to explain dishes. Food as well presented as it was tasty. A taste of the Middle East and only 3 restaurants exist in the UK asking it unique.

We love maray, the food and service are always top notch! They still make an effort to adjust menus to keep flavours fresh and experiences new, whilst keeping the old faithfuls of disco cauliflower and sweet potato wedges in their perfect form! Always recommend to anyone looking for a tasty meal in the city! My absolute favourite!

Maray on Bold Street is our favourite place to eat when we visit Liverpool. The quality of the food is absolutely outstanding!! Lovely service and atmosphere. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Liverpool.

From the minute we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff. As a vegan it’s rare to go out with friends and have so much choice. Also having a choice of food that I would not normally cook for myself. The photo does not do this food justice as you can’t capture taste in a photo. Everything we had was excellent. My non vegan friends loved the food too.

Always come to Maray Bold St. when I am in Liverpool. Food is great, something for everyone. Cocktails a bit sweet for me but that is a personal thing. Bread and butter pudding didn't need the caramel - see previous remark - but it was delicious. The sea bass and chocolate ganache dessert were excellent and the disco cauliflower is a must every time we go.

Had a lovely lunch at Maray Bold Street on a very dreary ‘Summer’ day. The food flavours were amazing and the portions very generous. The Georgian wine was delicious. Brilliant service was provided by our lovely waitress (sorry I don’t know her name). All in all, a very pleasant experience which I would recommend to others, especially when the weather is rubbish!!!

If you walk down Bold Street and pass Maray, you’ve made an error in judgment - Turn back you’re officially lost! The Disco Cauliflower is sure to bring even the most vegan oppressed meat eater into submission! A must try. The team are super friendly, knowledgable and consistent in their delivery. The kitchen is a well oiled machine and if I lived in Liverpool I’d eat here every night. Flavour explosion, great price, even better food. 10/10

Food is superb. Need to order at least 2 dishes per person as portion size is like an appetiser. Service is friendly. Be prepared to leave as soon as you have finished eating. The restaurant is fully booked back to back.

The atmosphere of this cosy little restaurant is great, and you feel very welcome as soon as you enter! Dining solo I went with the Falafel share plate, the mixture of flavours, the hummus, pomegranate seeds, fresh salad, falafel was second to none! Accompanied by a fresh made pita I was taken to the clouds by this dish! I followed this up with the Chocolate and Coffee Ganache, quite decadent and rich in flavour but balanced well with raspberries and cream! As a vegan diner I was absolutely stoked with the meal… shout out to the incredible staff too making you feel comfortable!

Hit or miss food. Ok service, not great. IMO, the reviews of this restaurant are better than the place itself. It seems like it's trying to be like Nopi/Ottolenghi but neither the food nor the service are great like those. Interesting, but a bit overpriced/touted for what you get.

Came in a group of 8 and was blown away by every single dish I tried. So much flavour and excellent choice on the menu for meat eaters and vegetarian. Disco cauliflower was divine. Hands down the best meal I’ve had in a long time. Please open a restaurant in Birmingham! Staff were very helpful and friendly also.

Never disappoints. It’s been the best restaurant in Liverpool for the last 10 years. Food unreal, atmosphere is unbeaten, perfect drink selection for wines and cocktails, great staff and overall favourite place in Liverpool for food. Apologies it’s taken me this long to review. Cute cocktail bar downstairs too. Small and intimate.

First visit to Maray, although it's been on the list after reading reviews. Really interesting food and great flavours. The menu has plenty of choice, so most people should be happy. The service was excellent and the staff are knowledgeable about each dish. There's a good choice of drinks too. It was a really good meal at Maray.

Love this place. Friendly, lively, great food. Great wines and beers. Solo diner. Felt completely welcome and well looked after.

Good food, a few really tasty dishes (disco cauliflower, falafel, chicken, pitta) and some mediocre dishes (crispy cod, lamb kofte). Overall a nice spot, delicious rose wine for £30. Bill was £122 for 3 people, waitress over explained how we shouldn't feel obliged to leave a tip, but after telling us so many times, we ended up feeling backed into a corner. Service was OK, drinks were slow, but food fast.

Dear me, I didn't even think I was that much of a fan of Middle Eastern Food - I was tempted in by the idea of Disco Cauliflower. Best thing, we were so full I had to take some home and eat it again today!!! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! Wish I lived closer but I will definitely be back. HIGHLY recommend

May 24, Booked this place by accident. The link for Madre, in the article, 25 best Liverpool resturants, takes you to Maray to book. We didn't realise until we arrived. However, it turned out to be good. The food was different and nice. Some dishes were too salty, the chips, the spinach with the steak. The only dish which I felt had too much going on for my taste buds was the Broccali. The cauliflower bhaji were great. Battered sea bass, nice, but not outstanding. Staff were lovely. Atmosphere nice.

Very delicious food, nice attentive service, cheap compared to the area. The menu mainly includes vegan dishes, but steak/fish is also available The waiter very kindly and carefully asked if anyone had any food intolerances/allergies. I recommend the place, if I lived in Liverpool, I would be a returning guest.

Fabulous restaurant. The food here is divine, beautiful tapas of middle eastern inspired dishes. Great atmosphere, cosy and romantic.
