Me and my sister came here to try, we’re from Belgium and the fries were honestly very good and tasted exactly like Belgian fries! They even had actual Belgian sauces. I don’t know why all the comment say there is no salt, maybe they’ve changed this, cause the fries were even almost too salty for me. Price was also really good, £3.5 and it was enough for me as lunch!

"Chips" is in the name of this shop and one would think they specialize in chips. They can't do this one thing right. The chips were all not fried freshly, but fried, put aside, and RE-FRIED when you buy it. The fries are over done and have a strange non-potato taste inside. Avoid.

The fries are excellent (and I know what I'm talking about because I'm Belgian 😂). They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Served in a cone like in Belgium. A large selection of sauces available too. On the other hand, I liked the breaded chicken meatballs less. Too much breading and it’s very heavy. Decent service. Located at the exit of the station. No table for eating but a public bench next to it

Takes advantage of drunk people, this review won’t matter because you’ll already be drunk eating these chips but they charges me £14 for two plain chips just go to McDonald’s… they also forgot the two sauces I payed for sad …. :(

20 minutes for small portions chips. Really slow service

Cashier was polite and suggested the Piri Piri sauce. It definitely makes a great snack of you’re on the go!

We ordered one regular chips while they charged for two chips which I came to know after checking my bank transactions. I think they fooled us by not giving us bill and charging double .Now I stay 2hrs away so cannot go and ask for my refund neither their phone number is working .they must be fooling around people like this everyday. Would never recommend anyone from now on

Pricey but pretty tasty, not as good as proper Belgium fries. Takes a while tho!

Given the price and proximity to the train station, they need to be more efficient at serving chips in good time

Very bad. Asked for melted cheese topping. I got cold yellow sauce that was nothing to do with cheese

This Belgian Chip joint outside Brighton Station has been here for years yet I still have not tried them. Although, the chips are freshly cut, they were not my cup of tea because the texture is too crispy as it has been fried quite a few times. Admitted, they are probably better off tossed in sauce/with sauce but I wasn't interested. I chose the dill which didn't make an impact on taste even though there was quite a fair bit of it.

£7 something for a small cone of chips. The place is dirty expensive and slow. Went to grab some chips on the way home from work while waiting for train. After ten-15mins I had to make a run for the train with no chips. Gutted and £7 something worse off. I can only hope the homeless guy outside got them.

Ordered a chicken fillet burger was overcooked. Lacking flavour. Asked for the chicken burger. On the sign, it says £5.65, and they then ask me if I would like sauce. I said ketchup plz. Then, when I went to pay, the bill was £6.65. £1 for ketchup, what a rip off. Avoid.

The lovely gentleman cooking our food couldn't take his hands out of his long hair and kept touching his face. The food itself was below average. The wait time was longer than promised. They even mix meat and vegetarian products in a single metal bowl. I think they might need some basic health-and-safety / hygiene / food-standards training.

This was the best chip shop in the world....not today......rather sad...please rethink your business model before it's too late

Didn't even get to try chips, stood there waiting for someone to serve me, nobody to be seen 😒 ghost shop. This was today 18/03/24 at 3:10pm, it brighton, you should always have som9ne ready to serve.

Really bad, rude staff overcharged me, avoid buying chicken fillet at all costs, chips just about okay.

Absolutely dreadful service, prioritizing delivery so patrons left to wait with no update. Only started making for those waiting outside after asked to cancel order and get a refund.

- Sorry, Just Not For Me. - The good things about this place is that it is simple to order. The fries seem to be made on site, and the food is well prepared. The service was prompt and the staff were also very efficient. However, I feel prices are very high, with the smallest item being £3.50, which is frankly unreasonable for what is being offered. I was even charged an extra £1 just for some simple ketchup.

On the way to catch the last train I was craving a falafel wrap from Albion's, alas it was over-run with indecisive people taking ages to order so being on a tight schedule with 10 mins to spare I made the executive decision to cut my losses and try this place for some chips. Assuming that chips were 'fast food' almost cost me my train home, as a small portion of chips with blue cheese sauce and some freezer-to-fryer spring rolls took over 8 minutes to prepare!! With three minutes to departure and the two ladies in the kitchen practically asleep, I politely asked if my order was actually in progress which seemed to kick the staff into action as they had my order out within 30 seconds of reminding them that I was waiting- not sure why they couldn't have applied that speed earlier, but there you go! Half my chips were sadly lost in transit as I sprinted for the platform and I made my train with seconds to spare. By the time we pulled into Hassocks I was ready to start demolishing my spring rolls but was to be sorely disappointed! Deep fried cigars would have had more flavour and I quickly regretted not going for a bottle of water instead as I realised that I'd have to make it to West Hampstead completely dehydrated. The moral of the story is... Tell them if you're in a rush, avoid the spring rolls and remember to buy water... If you have to go there that is.

I ordered a box of chips with chicken tikka sauce, I was not expecting the huge portion I got. The chips and sauce were delicious and the service was great

Very pricey place, and chips were slightly over salted, Satay sauce was a bit vinegary too, just a personal taste as I'm used to it being a bit sweeter, especially from places in the Netherlands and Belgium. However chips were fantastic and crispy, and customer service very good, had a lovely little chat with the staff member there that day. Would definitely return here again, however wouldn't get the satay again and maybe not go for the largest size chips as that's very pricey!

Only had 5 minutes to spare to grab something to eat before catching my train from the station. I popped in and they sorted me out with some delicious chips within just a few minutes so I didn't miss the train. Great service and really good chips!

Ordered a small box of chips flavoured with salt and chipotle sauce. Meant to bring it onboard train to eat and chips were not soggy.

I have bought chips here before a few times and they were always nice and crispy. Bought some yesterday and the guy hands me the chips as I'm still figuring out what sauce to have. Unusual as they're usually cooked to order but I didn't challenge it because what am I supposed to say, no thankyou? After about 30 seconds they're all soggy. These have clearly been cooked a while ago. Very very unimpressed by this behaviour. Laziness. These chips aren't cheap and I don't appreciate being served old food like this. Just really didn't enjoy each chip as I was like, great soggy chips... Great soggy chips... Great soggy chips. This ain't going to end well for the business if they keep this up.

Ordered a regular box. How can fries go so wrong? They have the equipment, yet, they’re so mushy and they’re stuck together…. Not worth the price.

Sadly the chips are neither belgian nor chips. They are basically mash. Fascinating how they got to 3.2 points.

Bought a portion of chips there tonight- they had so much salt on them they were inedible- come in guys- they’re already expensive chips- but then to have to put them in the bin! Yo☹️

Got the jalapeno poppers and they went everywhere the must not be frozen pre cooking so it was fully liquid

Not as good as the one in Kemptown. Went here after a movie and they didn’t mix the sauce in a bowl with your chips, they just add the sauce on top—which in my opinion is lazy.

got some cheesey chips and chicken bites for the train home from brighton from belgian chips. they had absolutely no salt and i forgot to ask for some... started eating on the train and they were just so painfully plain. the actual food, service and cost were fine, just needed SEASONING

The portion was really good and the chips and sauce were delicious as well. Staff was very friendly and the service was fast.

Chips themselves lovely, service awful, ordered 2 portions with sauce (not cheap) and paid, received 1, stood there waiting for the 2nd like a plumb, never arrived, when quized simply denied etc., didn't have time to sort as contact less and had to catch last train, simply appalling.

I couldn't rate this place more highly. We only chose this place as it was the only place open to get chips at the time. Usually I wouldn't go somewhere that has a rating of less than 4 stars. This place really deserves a 5 star review! The chips were perfectly cooked and seasoned, thanks to the extra care of the staff. The portion size is huge. The staff were lovely and took pride in their job, including hygiene. The sauce was a game changer and was added generously and thoughtfully. I couldn't have been happier with my late night dinner purchase!!

The accountant was never professional in dealing and had bad manners and did not rise to the restaurant .. If the person was not respectful, why would I buy from him? The opposite of the employee who gave me the potatoes was respectful. Potato is good but my experience will not be repeated

Slow service, mayo overflowing everywhere out of pot so really messy and awkward to eat with overpriced average chips.

The portions are big, the sauces flavorful, and the service quick. Although pricy, I ordered a small and it was much bigger than expected. Good stop right off the Brighton Train Station!

For what was obviously a tipsy fast food joint, the chips were genuinely some of the nicest I’ve had from a fast food place! We had peri-peri sauce on ours and they were super great 😊

The chips were very greasy. I lived in Belgium and never ate chips like that.

They do one thing and they do it well. Piping hot, fluffy on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Generous portions too, the cones are bigger than they look.

Questionable hygiene! The fryer took some popcorn chicken from freezer in her hands put in a basket and moved back to handle cooked food, no glove change or hands washed walked out lost a little money but not taking a risk.

Came here to before catching the train. Despite the negative reviews, my experience was overall great, the chips were very nice and the mozzarella bites were very good. You can see it all being made too which is always a good thing :)

Chips are good. Even still after reheating them in the oven the next day. If you're looking for some grub at the end of a night, this is the place. I wish they offered salt, pepper and ketchup/mayo for free, or at least for a cheaper price than the other sauces, because it's quite insulting to pay 60p for a bit of sauce to go with your £5 chips.

Disgusting service...customer service 0 - guy who served us forced us to go outside - we could not wait inside for the order, then because we laughed he said he wont serve us, i asked for refund - I paid card - he gave me cash as he did not know how to do refund on the card.... can any manager/owner see that transaction?

Was absolutely disgusted by the treatment of the shop employee. Just because i was of asian background he asked me to stay outside the shop until my order was done. While a white person was sitting next to thw counter and casually drinking, he said nothing of it. I would not recommend this shop for the racism and discrimination. Chips was basically stale overfried and overpriced. Chicken popcorn was okish. 0 rating for discrimination and racism. Grow up Belgian chips, if you want to sell your food then start by treating everyone the same.

Tried first time..very dry and taslteless chips, they just dip in oil to make the old chips hot.paid extra for sauce, doesn’t get enough.

AVOID at all costs. Terrible staff member who was incredibly rude, made undercooked soggy chips with the wrong seasonings, and then refused to re make. Have emailed the shop to find a complaint process (5!! Times!) only to be ignored by management, who consistently read my messages and then choose to ignore. Providing no process for complaints and since blocking me from reviewing the page on Facebook. Shocking customer service and terrible food.

Simple chips made the Belgian way! Amazing and varied choice of sauces to suit everyone's taste.

They only accept cash payment for orders under £5. And I find this shocking in this time of COVID pandemic! They force you to spend minimum of £5 if you're paying by card or tap.

I came here and let me tell you, one of the worst places to eat. Staff are clueless with terrible English, rude and barely washes their hands. The small chips are a rip off, as two scoops filled the cone. Chips are drowned in sauces and end up soggy, chips are nothing special either. I highly recommend going to a local chippy

Got short changed here. Staff refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing as they knew what they'd done. Wouldn't recommend. What a lovely thing to do during a global pandemic! Hopefully the owner will hire honest people in the near future.

Ngl they were very good. The low score is for the absolute distrust that the staff members provide. I asked for 2 portions of regular fries and they charged me 2 large. I received 2 regular. Watch what you pay for guys. Plus the server wasnt wearing any form of ppe to protect against Covid-19. Very dissatisfied with the service.

Lovely girl serving, had hot chilly sauce. Always good to keep the seagulls away. Food delicious.

The chips are really good and theres a large choice of sauces to put on them. Unfortunately the staff in there aren't great, wrong sauces put on orders has happened to me on a few occasions, depending on who is taking orders, it can sometimes be difficult for both customer and staff to understand each other, and I know it's only a chip shop, but would it kill them to smile once in a while? There's also no explanation for what any of the sauces actually are, which makes the Belgian sauces a bit of a game of roulette. Theres no where to sit and going outside with a handful of chips makes you a target for a seagull attack. Prices are also kind of high for the service. That all said, it's still a good place to get some food after a night out drinking.

If you’re looking for a quick and spice filled fix to your hunger, Belgian chips just might be the place. It is a small joint which serves loaded type fries. As they cook up fresh chips and have a variety of sauces and spices which you can add to your taste. The option are endless and have good taste. However the chips on the day were not as good as I expected. As also there is not much sitting space so that was a little inconvenient.

Really expensive and they charge 50p for a bit of sauce. For the same price as medium chips here you can get large cheesy chip, sauce and meat topping at the place a few doors down. Staff are way more friendly too.

Rude staff. Staff there said my credit card didn’t get processed. He asked me if my friends and I want to try with other card, so my friend tried with hers. He said, again, the card didn’t go through. We didn’t have cash at that moment, so we left. I checked my card status recently and figured out that actually both of our cards were processed. The staff fooled us, and this is very frustrating.

How many choices of fries do you need. This place has them all. Great for a last minute snack before jumping onto a train.

This is terrible staff, without an experience how to serve the customer's, on the top the chips were very BIG and how they should be but from the middle of take awey pack till down very small piece's, hard to eat and Old. I will not recommend this place, will never ever back to this place again

Would be a higher rating if they had a better ratio for getting my order correct have been here 6 times and only 3 of those I have got what I ordered not good for something that should be 100% accurate . I definitely do not recommend the mango lime and chilli sauce as it tastes really weird (not in a good way) made even worse because its not what I asked for (sweet mango curry). Some of the sauces are really good but they really need to work on thier accuracy.
