Ok for families and casual snacks. Man in charge has no people skills. 13th August, early evening. Would not recommend for anyone wanting a special time.

Great bar/restaurant, visited the Beetroot a few times over the last month as had relatives over from Australia. Food was excellent and always hot, we were a large party and everything came out together and hot. Staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is a bother. Reasonably priced as well. Good menu which caters for all tastes and good drinks selection. Would definitely recommend.

Having successfully completed a major project I took my team out as a small thank you. There were 5 of us and we arrived around 1030h for breakfast. We were greeted by the very .lovely Amy, who promptly seated us. She was polite, friendly and attentive. She took our drinks orders, then our breakfasts. We all opetd for the full Scottish at under a tenner each. The meal was fabulous, well cooked, piping hot and presented on high quality flatware with good cutlery. The sausages had a delicious crisp outer, the bacon was well done but not hard, the mushrooms were served in a wee bowl with chilli oil. The eggs were perfect, accompanied by a slice of chunky bread, haggis and black pudding. Beans finished it off brilliantly. The teapot was quirky and delightful. Alison, the owner was not only beautiful but very charming with it. She was involved in the serving of our meals and chatted to us as she served us, making us feel more than welcome. Five breakfasts with assorted lattes, cappuccinos and teas was under £70 so very reasonably priced too. I left a well deserved tip and Alison kindly let me know that the full tip always went to the serving staff, so very ethical too. My colleagues were all as suitably impressed as I was. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and the only shame is that my time in Bonnyrigg is over, and I dearly wished I'd found The Beetroot sooner.

I visited the beetroot and ordered the fish&chips when it came the fish was very well done.my friend ordered the veggie burger and wasn’t happy either.we sat for 30 mins didn’t even get asked how the food was or if we wanted another drink.I didn’t want to complain but I didn’t even want to pay for my food it was that bad that I had to get food later on to eat. Will definitely not be back i used to go there a lot but it’s definitely changed now. I hope this could be fix as it’s a shame. Thanks

Visited with a good friend and was certainly looked after. Staff could not do enough to help you. Food was delicious and great value for money. Coffee went down well too. Looking forward to going back with my family to sample the selection of beers.

Food was lovely nice place to eat and catch up . Went at the back off 6 for meal and drinks and catch up with friends. Staff member came up to us and another couple that was in and said that last orders as were shutting early . We were taken aback as we’re up for a good catch up and had only been in a couple off hours .Was disappointing as we as a good couple off hours than was due to close .

Outstanding! We went here for my wife's surprise 40th with family. I cant get across how helpful the staff and owners were. They even went as far as putting up banners and balloons for our arrival to save me the trouble. It's a very nice relaxed atmosphere and very stylish inside and lovely seating arrangements from booths, tables and even couches if your just in for a cuppa and a catch up. The food is absolutely amazing,well priced and what you get on your plate you are not disappointed. The chicken wings need a shout out for themselves they are class👌

Just visited Beetroot for a Christmas lunch. Wow!! Hard to describe what an utterly outstanding meal we were served by friendly, professional and just generally lovely staff. The 3 course Christmas meal was so so deicious. Undoubtedly the tastiest traditional turkey main course we have ever tasted. Fabulous surroundings and a real festive atmosphere. Thank you 😊

Excellent early Christmas meal tonight with my Mum and 2 friends. The service from start to finish was excellent - always checking if we needed anything else and if the food was as expected. The food was fabulous. Fresh, hot and really lovely. Had a burger, 2 steak pies and a fish and chips and all were great. Desserts were also really lovely. So good having a lovely, welcoming restaurant so close by. Looking forward to our next trip to Beetroot. The staff were also great at telling us what was on at Bannoc too in terms of bands playing etc which was good to know for upcoming nights out we're planning. Great job Beetroot ❤️

I was taken for afternoon tea for my 83rd birthday on Wednesday 29th November and was very disappointed the one in th e picture looks lovely the sandwiches in our were ham which was hanging over the side of your sandwiches and my friend and I had no idea what was in the others I tried one and print know if there is was egg in it all.I could taste was salad cream The scones were lovely but the cakes were out of packets nothing like on your display. I have had many lovely meals in the beetroot a wee bit finesse in the serving of our afternoon tea would have been appreciated

Our walking of 16 people turned up announced at Beetroot and were met by two very pleasant members of staff who were able to accommodate us and moved tables together. They were very efficient and in no time we had our hot drinks (a couple had a beer) cakes and scones. Being a wet afternoon we were very pleased to be indoors for a break. It will be on our list again when we finish a walk in Bonnyrigg.

Superb friendly, efficient and quick service for a large group of 16 who walked in unexpectedly on a damp, cold day. Service couldn't have been better and we were made to feel so welcome. Would definitely return when back in the area.

Visited for lunch and a pint before the football. Lovely friendly atmosphere in a comfortable layout, a good selection of food and very helpful service. Staff were great. Additional bonus was that the toilets were spotlessly clean. Can't fault it, and will certainly return.

Service was shocking, Beetroot was not busy and it took forever for a drinks order to be taken and finally once it was they were poured and sat on the bar for a good 5 minutes while the staff walked past them multiple times.
