Sadly we had the same problem experienced by others . . . the ferry that runs across the river from the Hanham side. We checked FB to see if it was running (as advised) before leaving home. Got there to find the ferry was running but only to take people from Beese's but not back! The guy on the boat said they were not taking people over because they had been 'very busy and were short-staffed'. There were only 2 of us and we just wanted a quick drink. There was loads of space in the garden. Feels like Beese's has lost it's way in pursuit of the profits to be made from the ferries from Bristol. If you turn away punters via this channel (no pun intended) you will struggle when it is less sunny and Beese's is less inviting. You need a reliable ferry service or, like me, people will simply go elsewhere.

With Friday’s weather forecast looking splendid, organised the family for a visit to Beeses for lunch. Checked the web site for opening times and availability of the boat from the Hanham side of the river. All systems go, or so it seemed. Arrived at the crossing point and waited, and waited. A young lady then shouted across the river to inform us the boat was not running as they had forgotten to buy any diesel. She suggested we came back in 45 minutes to see if they had sourced some diesel. Beeses looked nice and quite probably is but we shall never know. I can though recommend the Chequers along the river where the food and service was excellent.

Hi, my daughter and I booked the Bristol ferry to come to you it was one way as expected but it was dark when we left 9.30. we enjoyed the evening food good and nice band. But it isn't easy walking in the dark and as women wouldn't go across park in the dark it was a good idea my daughter brought a touch. then had problems finding the high street for bus. We were not the only ones. Your instructions on your web site were for day light not night. I would have willingly paid more to go back by ferry. Because of that I couldn't give you five stars.

This hidden gem of a Restaurant was perfect for our family meet up and Sunday late lunch. Meats were nicely roasted - I had belly of pork with crackling. Veggies were roast potatoes, red cabbage, carrots and curly kale. We ordered a side of cauli cheese too. The scones we had for afters were delicious, fresh and warm with homemade jam and cream. All Staff were friendly and attentive. We had a view of boats and paddle boarders on the river. - we could not have chosen better than Beeses on a gorgeous Summer day. PS Dogs are welcome so ours came along too.

Food was so expensive, tactically no prices on menus online. Menus online aren’t up to date. Service was chaotic, multiple people asking if we’d ordered, wrong food and drink delivered to tables. Had to go and chase our drinks. Glasses being dropped, staff looking lost and misdirected. Food was cold and nobody asked us if anything was ok throughout. Asked for the bill twice then had to go up to the bar and ask for it again. Shocked at the price of it all. Such a shame because such a beautiful location.

I visited Bees a couple of years ago. I was extremely impressed. It took my breathe away. I went again last Sunday. I can only say, it’s lost it. What they call a fabulous Sunday lunch was awful. The Beef was hard, even though I checked with the server before ordering it. Her description was it falls off the bone. The rosties, were more potato wedges. Hard too. The cauliflower cheese which was an additional price was more like mash. Most odd. To top it off they add 10% service charge. The best thing about the experience was the wine and the location. I even sent my coffee back as it was luke warm. 🤨

Not indication on booking Sunday lunch today, that it would be a Christmas party theme. OK not too bothered by that. Took three people to find our booking. Given tinest table you can imagine. Ordered some olives to snack on. None available (12.30 sitting, so couldn't gave run out today, do why leave on menu?) I ordered turkey, hubby ordered chicken. Out came out additional order of cauliflower cheese and a ruby bowl with broccoli, carrots and red cabbage. At this point the waitress realised that our nains had been taken to another table ( a table of 10( a few minutes earlier. We knew this as she screeched it across the whole garden. Another waiter then went to retrieve them. I said I didn't want plates that other people had perhaps been picking at already. Honestly!!! Off she went and came back with two more mains by which point of veg had now been standing on the table for about 8 minutes. It mattered not as the mains were only warm in any event. Hubby had no stuffing,(surely that is what always comes with chicken). I gad no parsnips. Potatoes more like frozen wedges and not at all crisp. I don't know why food doesn't come out piping hot. The waiting staff were either really inexperienced or frankly not very bright. Time and again we saw dishes sent back or staff wandering around with plates if food, with clearly no idea which table to take them to. Absolute chaos. No chance we were staying gor dessert. Bill came. They had charged for the olives and added 10% service charge. I asked them to remove the charge for the olives that we did not gave. I left the 10% se vice charge as, it was after all a Christmas event, on the 22nd October!! We won't be going again.

Went on a Booze cruise to beeses. Ordered food.. But! What a disgrace when they are over charging the boat passengers on food clearly marked on the counter. Little slates with ie sausage roll £4 but ripping people off at the till and charging £5 and when questioned about it Ariana? The manageress basically got arsey took the slate away and said "there £5 now take it or leave it" disgusting behaviour and her RBF Said it all terrible attitude . Won't ever go back there and clearly profiteering from organised boats passengers... Its an expensive place anyway charging £6.50 for a slice of cake. Let alone changing prices to get even more money. You'll get a lot of people that love the place but come on scandalous P taking. Loads of passengers complained.

A very big thank you to Adrianna that helped organise, and more importantly offer some after service with some great communication on a minor issue that was mutually settled on our big celebration day. What a best kept secret Bristol has.. Exquisite venue by riverside. Gazebos and umbrellas available in case the weather turns, but we were treated to an evening of fine weather, a gin experience and some great soothing live tunes....our party loved it! We booked via Bristol Ferries and took a boat out to the venue from Welsh Back, city centre. Their service was excellent. Punctual, engaging crew, served drinks on board, alcoholic and non alcoholic. Just take in the views and see Bristol as never seen before....we lost our bearings pretty quickly! Beeses staff were fabulous, very friendly and helpful. Accomodating to our needs (party of 10) and very busy No food consumed this time. Extremely difficult for the hard of walking or less mobile to navigate in or out. Prices reasonable. Definitely book in advance for a memorable time out... we'll definitely be returning!

The whole experience of the lovely ferry trip down the Avon and the riverside location deserves 5 stars. However, I went with a party of 7 and initially, despite there being plenty of room, we were crammed onto one picnic bench. I had four adults over 75 with me and this couldn’t work. The staff were lovely and there seemed to be plenty of them but it seemed a bit disorganised. Initially they gave us an extra chair but this was still not great and we did eventually get a bigger table. I had to ask for menus and nobody explained the system at first e.g. there was an additional special event with cheese and wine and you had to order at the bar, separately for food and drink! It felt chaotic and not the relaxing experience I was expecting. Eventually, the food was great, service for this was quick and the atmosphere wonderful. But really, sort out your greet, seat and general front of house service as with the boat trip and food costs combined, this isn’t a cheap experience and could have easily been 5 stars.

We ate lunch at Beeses coming off the Bristol Packet boat. We chose the lamb patties that were tasty but too large quantities, lots of salad and poor quality chips. It was too much to eat very plain and expensive( £16). Why not do half the size for half the price? Just an idea and means there is no waste…… food for thought …. Nothing beats the atmosphere of this place in it’s beautiful river setting but the odd music coming from the gazebo kind of killed it for me. We just wanted to listen to the birds!

Our group of eight 70 year olds were spending a weekend in Bristol. On the Sunday we used the Bristol Packet boat trip to chug along the river to Beeze's. We'd booked a table in advance and then enjoyed our cream teas. A chilly April...

We paid for our food at 12:20 and we’re then told the meat for the carvery wasn’t ready yet. A group of about 30 arrived on the Bristol Ferry and they still weren’t ready. The carvery started at last and plodded through at a snail’s...

Went there for Father's day on the hottest day of the year. Arrived at 12.15 and already nowhere outside to sit. We went indoors where the service was chaotic at best. 3 separate slow moving queues and nobody knew where to go! We stood in...

We were looking forward to our Sunday roast lunch but we were disappointed on this occasion. On a previous trip by boat to Beeses's we had had an idyllic day, warm and sunny, garden full of flowers, superb Sunday lunch - roast beef, Yorkshire puddings,...

I've been here a few times now, and have always enjoyed it. We get the boat across, which is fun, and have always had a cream tea. There's a nice atmosphere and it's really popular, which speaks for the quality, but it's a bit pricey...

I visit regularly. Sad that it closes on 16th May. It's got a bit scruffy looking for that reason. I had the £8 steak lunch today which was good. Staff are always attentive and friendly.

Restaurant shouldn’t exist full-stop. Unsalted chips, Chicken wrap was anything but spicy despite the whole place being named after a chilli sauce. When asked for ketchup and mayo I was only given two little ketchup packets. The sandwich is subpar and was wrapped unprofessionally. 1/5.

Disappointing and Overpriced I recently visited this smoked meat restaurant and was left underwhelmed. I ordered a variety of items including a burger, corn ribs, and pork rashers, but all were served lukewarm and lacked flavor. The biggest disappointment was the “brisket mac and cheese” at £8.40—no brisket, just a tiny portion of mac and cheese. When I raised this with the manager, I was told the high price was due to importing the brisket from the U.S., yet there was no brisket in sight. While they did offer a discount, it didn’t make up for the poor value. For the price, I expected far better. Sadly, there are much better establishments out there for smoked meat lovers.
