Food was excellent, best chips I've had in years, maybe ever. Service great too. Get some grub here, you won't regret it.

Stumbled upon this place whilst visiting Bristol, wasn't expecting much from a small place but my God did they deliver. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. The staff were fantastic with my kids even after they changed their order twice with him. I cannot recommend Spitfire highly enough. We will definitely be back!!

Great atmosphere and fantastic chicken burger from the lunch menu. Chips were also excellent.

A taste of America across the pond! Fabulous ribs and brisket and great location by the river!

The food was delicious -we tried the rib, chicken wings and alabama sauce, loved it!- and the price is acceptable considering the location. Thanks again to Alejandro for his attentive and great service!

Some key items (Brisket/Ribs) weren’t available which blows my mind for a bank holiday. The jalapeño sausage was extremely dry and tasteless. The mac and cheese was subpar. The only saving grace from being a 1 star review were the burnt ends. Service wasn’t great and the waiters were blunt and not the friendliest. Took 50 minutes for the food to arrive after ordering and it wasn’t exactly packed in the restaurant. They don’t offer takeaway boxes so bear this in mind when ordering a lot of food. Was highly looking forward to trying Spitfire for the first time but unfortunately won’t be coming back. Overpriced and average, would not recommend.

Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff and great drinks

I have been here twice on different occasions, the staff are so lovely, the food is amazing, service was quite quick, I couldn’t recommend this place enough. I have a gluten intolerance, some places are quite judgmental but this place is non judgmental, informative and has great food with great alternatives for those with intolerances.

I love this place. It's the most authentic BBQ place I've been to outside of America. If you love country music, BBQ, and beer, you'll be happy here!

Nine of us went here for a family dinner. We all found the BBQ menu delicious and service very genuine and friendly. We decided to share a selection from the menu which worked well and the teenagers loved the vibes. Also the harbourside setting gives the opportunity for a nice stroll before or after to add to the experience or to just help digest the food! Definitely recommended for a special occasion.

Had the Texas Toast. Traditional Texas Toast is a brioche doorstop, butter fried to create a crispy face but a soft centre and crust. What I received was a thin slice of stale bread that had been over toasted to make it crumble. The filling was an underwhelming blend of "caramelised" red onion that was barely cooked, and scarcely seasoned pulled pork. For the price, I feel insulted. Doesn't even come with fries. This place is phoning it in, maybe it was good once upon a time, or maybe the people of Bristol that are rating this establishment are uncultured heathens that consider Tesco Finest to be gourmet. Has potential if they recapture the enthusiasm for hospitality that lead them to open a restaurant, but without that pride in production this place will remain a miserable disappointment.

Contrary to prior reviews, definitely not dog friendly. Wouldn't even serve us outside let alone inside as they were "short staffed" despite most of the restaurant being empty.

Friendly helpful staff and one of the best burgers I've ever eaten

This is the first time we have revisited the Spitfire barbecue since leaving Bristol several years ago, when we used to live on the harbourside and remember opening night there. A superb location right on the harbourside edge with great seating outside, and in, and the smell of slow cooked Texan meat coming from the restaurant as you walk towards it. We were greeted by an extremely helpful member of staff, I am blind, and so he assisted us to a table, which would be easy for us to move around if needed, and nothing was too much trouble for him, and other members of staff. My wife decided to have a burger and fries from the day menu, and I had a half rack of St. Louis ribs with dirty fries, and also bacon strips to start. The food arrived promptly, everything was piping, hot and packed full of the flavours you would expect from a great barbecue restaurant. The spitfire has been open, probably eight or nine years now, and even this day is still serving incredible dishes, in a great setting, backed up by attentive non-pushy and very helpful staff. If you are visiting Bristol and you love your barbecue food, then there is no better restaurant in the citythan the Spitfire. Thank you so much for a great meal and great service and we look to revisit you again hopefully very soon.

Great venue catered for our extra numbers that booked on last minute ,dropped a star as brisket was serves cold and had to complain about it ans was quickly replaced with some fresh hot meat other than that it was a fantastic evening

My first time at Spitfire Barbecue with people who had been before. They recommended based on their previous times there. It lived up to the expectations, food was really tasty, staff attentive and courteous, good choice of drinks, service excellent. Would highly recommend 👌

Front of the house greeting: -5 out of 10. At least 4 people saw us and had eye contact stood at the entrance, said not a word. We stood there like idiots for a good 3 minutes with no acknowledgment. When we were finally “greeted” and asked if we had booked, we didn’t even have 100% of his attention as he looked behind us outside for reasons. He proceeded to tell us that they were fully booked until 8pm. (As we surveyed some empty tables) But sure, glad we didn’t get a table. Customer service it would seem would have been atrocious.

In total disbelief of managers shocking behaviour. Not interested in hearing feedback about our visit on a Saturday night. PLEASE READ TO THE END TO LEARN HOW OUR EXPERIENCE GOES FROM REALLY BAD TO EVEN WORSE! … Waited over an hour and a half for food which was returned as inedible. Toilets were covered in sick and food handler was clearing it up with a kitchen mop. So as not to cause a scene or bring the mood down on the evening (not our booking - we were attending a special birthday occasion for a family member) I decided to pluck up the courage to call discretely on the Monday to speak to the manager who we had hoped might address our concerns. How wrong we were!! Instead of apologising, offering an explanation or saying he’d investigate, he justified the 1.30hr wait for food after ordering as ‘acceptable’ and ‘normal’ on a Saturday evening. He also said if we had a problem we should complain to the person that made the booking, who was aware there was going to be lengthy delays with our order and was happy with this. It’s not his restaurant’s problem. It’s the fault of the person who booked it for not preparing their guests! I explained we were speaking only on our behalf (paid our own part of the bill separately) and not on behalf of everyone and we didn’t want to upset the birthday host. He further justified that is was normal and luck of the draw to have bad ribs. It happens I might agree. However, you could see from looking without trying them they were bad. They shouldn’t have been served. He ended the conversation by saying ‘what do you want, I’m a busy man with a restaurant to run?’. Tried to explain that I wanted nothing, but thought he would appreciate the feedback. I asked him why he was being so rude as it wasn’t necessary. I just wanted to bring our experience to his attention. He made me feel so bad that I had dared to bother him with this. He was really angry and aggressive. I was totally taken aback by his reaction. It took a lot of courage to make the call. Was this not ok? In hindsight I suppose I was looking for some kind of explanation or an apology at the very least! It’s not fair I felt for the restaurant to first learn of a customers bad experience via social media or a poor review. Give them first the opportunity to explain or put it right. I wouldn’t want to affect their reputation by spouting off online if this was just an unfortunate one off where things had gone horribly wrong. You would think that the manager might welcome the opportunity to discuss a customers concerns right? Apparently not! Although the ribs were not charged, my husband and I still spent £50 on a burger with no sides and some drinks. We both left very hungry after approximately 3 hours (as it was over 30 mins before we placed our order for the hour and a half wait for it to arrive). This was just one course we all had. If there was a staff shortage or some kind of equipment failure then you could excuse the bad experience as unfortunate and write it off. But for the manager to justify it as ‘acceptable’ and ‘normal’ was beyond comprehension. But wait, this is where it gets much worse!! The manager in his wisdom following our conversation decides to telephone the family member that made the booking to complain about us complaining! I’m totally mortified and embarrassed by this. Out of common courtesy we hadn’t wanted to bring it to the birthday hosts attention our opinion of how bad the evening was either at the time or thereafter (although it was pretty evident to the whole party of 10 of us, one of which was very ill from his food the following day we later learned). So we had thanked him for the opportunity of sharing his special day and said we’d had a lovely time. To be fair, the company was great! Lovely family and friends we enjoyed spending time with. Unfortunately for the restaurant manager, this invited a further complaint. The birthday host wasn’t going to raise a complaint about their experience, but as they now had him on the phone the felt they might as well. Their account of the evening pretty much backed up what we had more or less said on the phone to him. It also transpires from this, they were not told in advance of any potential delays that they should advise their guests of either. So glad there were others privy to my conversation which I had on loud speaker in the car, as I was left in total disbelief as to what I had experienced personally. The manager reported to the birthday host I was in fact the one that was rude. I had spoken to him like he was ‘a slave’?!? It’s been so shocking that I’ve kind of expected the manager to ring me back and apologise for his overreaction. Maybe say he’s having a bad day or something. Anything!?! But nothing. This 1 star review could have been avoided if the manager had handled the situation with any degree of professionalism. Instead he has confirmed to me that they are trying to cater for more people than they can comfortably manage to. Over promise and under deliver is ok with them. It doesn’t matter to their business if you leave unhappy with the food or service, so please don’t bother them with the details. In a nutshell, they don’t care and they certainly don’t want to hear about it.

Table for two was tiny. Hard metal seats were uncomfortable. The starters and sides were really good but the mains were a let down. The brisket was really fatty and chewy and I had trouble getting the meat of the ribs. A lot better places for bbq at this price in bristol.

Asked if they had wheelchair access. Was told they don't really have disabled customers come here lol.

I had been looking forward to some decent BBQ food for ages when I found this place online and after a long wait they did not disappoint! Friendly and competent staff, the food was delicious ( the burnt ends being the highlight) I'm looking forward to coming back to try the ribs! Oh and excellent value for money!

Service was great, and food arrived quickly. It was quiet when we arrived as it was in the afternoon, but it was worth the visit. The pork rashers were delicious with a charcoal/bbq flavour, and the burgers and dirty fries were fab. They also looked amazing. I would happily visit again to try the other starters and burgers.

Went on a Saturday night. Place was busy and lively. Good atmosphere. Excellent staff who were rushing around like flies. We had two lagers @5.50 each, not a bad price, a Dorothy burger with dirty fries and the St Louis rib with beefy fries. Burger was amazing. Didn’t taste too salty and was melt in mouth. Same with the ribs.they had a really good barbecue flavour with a nice crunchy outer. The rib was massive and too much for one person. It did feel a bit man vs food! Both sets of chips were really nice as well. The beef fries were slightly better, but when I go again, think I will go for the normal fries if I have the rib. Just too much meat!! Both portion sizes were massive and we could have probably split the ribs in half I would go back again and I would recommend the restaurant in a heartbeat

Absolutely gorgeous, slow cooked meat and really relaxed atmosphere. Excellent views of the harbour side and friendly service. Looking forward to my next visit already. Enough to turn a vegan. Indoor and outdoor seating Wow!

Well…all I can say is this is BBQ food turned up to #11. Go for a selection of items and build a sharing platter. We had burnt ends,jerk chicken,pulled pork,ribs,fries and beans and two large wines and were were stuffed and the bill before tip was a very reasonable £55 and we’venot had better BBQ fare anywhere 😋😋😋

We have been several times now, On all occasions the food has been amazing. The staff work so hard and nothing is a problem. I even had a email back after I provided feedback and left my email so they do read the feedback! We love the atmosphere too, wish we could go more often and will be adding this to our special occasion places to go! Thanks again!

I stumbled across this restaurant when staying in the immediate area for work. The menu is varied and features classic American barbecue favourites. I opted for the Lemon Pepper wings which were deliciously crispy yet juicy in a subtle lemon and garlic sauce. I couldn’t skip the opportunity to enjoy a meat platter and chose the burnt ends, pulled pork, slice of brisket and Spitfire sausage with a side of slaw and cornbread. The meat is perfectly smoked, low and slow, for that melt in the mouth, fall apart texture, seasoned well and exceptionally well priced for the quality. Service was excellent and I can’t wait to visit again for another barbecue fix!

We’re a local couple and wanted to visit Spitfire for a while … and wasn’t disappointed Booked in advance and greeted and seated within minutes. Drinks were flowing and allowed time to choose our food. The food was amazing… tasty and hot and great portions. Come here a lot. Been served by the same guy a few times. South American I think? Brilliant service and fun to deal with. We love the simplicity of the menu. You aren't restricted by having set menus or carbs with everything. If you just want meat and protein you can literally just order individual pieces of everything. This is literally the only BBQ restaurant I know that gets it right.

St Louis ribs were fatty and tough not like BBQ that I'm used to where meat is tender and falls off the bone.

Busy restaurant with a nice buzz to it. It's so nice to eat BBQ food without being the one to cook it. The food is very good and the waiter was very helpful with what to choose, how much and what sides went well with what. We went for a medium spice which was about perfect.

It’s ok - honestly it’s sounds tastier than it is. Meat was fairly dry and very limited healthy options and veg was out of stock. Service was basic. Our waiter didn’t seem interested at all.

Decided on visiting this place heard good things from coworkers and friends so thought why not, 13 of us went down for my birthday we precooked and pre ordered as requested and small deposit of 5bucks per head, the food was sooooo good, I had the burnt ends dirty fries and mac and cheese, the mac and cheese in my opinion needs to be a main and needs to be bigger it was so good I would of be happy just with a big plate of that, but I had burnt ends which were fat juicy cuts of pork that just melted in the mouth and with dirty fries, honestly don't waste your time with plain fries get them dirty! Can't wait to go back and try the brisket and full rack of ribs, I did have some of the ribs but not enough to really enjoy it what I had was nice but I want more! Staff were very friendly and helpful with the booking and sorting the large bill, atmosphere was OK but we went for lunch I think it would be better in the evening to be honest, either way SEE YOU AGAIN SOON

I booked this for my husbands birthday with our best mates. Lily the waitress was so knowledgeable and patient with us making our decisions we could not have asked for more. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. We all had something different on the plate which meant we were trying food off of each others plates. The drinks, well the men were happy as they were having steines and the girls were happy as they were having cocktails, which the bar staff were more than happy to tweak to their tastes. All in all a great evening, all compliments to everyone that works there, everything you do is fully deserved.

This is one of the key places to eat if you're in Bristol. Excellent BBQ food and, unlike with some other BBQ places, not huge amounts of food. It's definitely quality over quantity which leaves loads of space to try a few things. Also good variety of drinks.

It was busy (at 3 in the afternoon) but they took 20 minutes to take our order and then 40 minutes to deliver it. However the food is absolutely delicious, and worth the wait

Good food bad manager. I came from leeds to see my partner as we are long distance. He recommended the place as he’s been in the past. When we arrived the manager asked if we booked we said no. They found us a table right in the center. As it was the two of us my partner asked for a quieter table when I went to the toilets. I came back and noticed our table was wobbly, we then asked to moved to the table in front which was fine. After this I saw a window table become free, I then asked the manager Nicholas if we could sit in the window. He then responded ‘You haven’t booked a table and you’ve asked to move four times now so this is the only table’ in a very agressive manor. I was taken back and surprised by his response and attitude. I actively avoided asking him for assistance for the rest of the evening because I was scared of how he would speak to me again. I asked if there was an issue he continued to promote the fact by that we hadn’t booked a table so to take what was given. Apart from Nichols food and service was great but don’t think I’d return based on the Managers attitude. I also wish I done previous research as a friend told me she found maggots in her partners beer the last time she went just after lockdown! Gross!

Good food but the cocktails are pathetically small. The photo of the Margarita is as it was served to me LoL.If you're the owner of this restaurant you should really be more generous with your cocktails.

Came for a lunchtime meet up with a couple of friends. It was relatively quiet around lunch time. Our server was extremely polite and attentive. He absolutely made the whole experience better, really put the icing on the cake. He was straight away checking if we wanted any information about the menu. He was checking we were okay during our meal. He even brought over water as he could see our drinks were running low. After our meal they were not pushy at all about making us give up the table dispite us sitting there for quite some time. He even refreshed our water and brought us over some biscuits to have whilst we drank our coffee. The food was amazing too but the service stood out today. Its a shame I didn't catch his name but he is an asset to the spitfire team. Just put the atmosphere as 4 stars because the tables were a little close together and ended up being quite loud with other people towards the end when we were leaving.

We have visited this place twice during our 3 days visit in Bristol. We tried few dishes and all of them were excellent. The reason for 4 stars is the fact that the place itself looks slightly shabby. I mean there is nice atmosphere inside, but the dishes the food is being served on (metal bowls) would require some replacement long time ago. They did not look appetizing and we had some doubts if they were clean enough. Also the stuff looks slightly scruffy in theirs worn out business t-shirts. You would expect higher standards as this is not a cheap place. It seems like the owner decided to make some savings, or doesn't give a s... , because the place is busy anyway.

Best bbq restaurant in the UK. Highly recommend the pork ribs and beef brisket. But anything you order will make your taste buds fly. Alvaro the GM is a great boss with amazing service. All the staff were lovely.

You're booked in slots, so 2 hours for your meal and drinks if your not finished tough, you have to leave as they are booked back to back. ( this was a weekend)

Food was average at best, some parts barely warm and was close to sending back. Could see the food dying at the pass and took 5 minutes for service to notice food was waiting to go out. We pre ordered before arrival and paid a deposit, our food took over an hour past our arrival time and our drinks order still hadn't gotten to our table by the time our food started to be served. One meal was completely missing and had to serve something else for another at our table, one drink went missing and never showed up until we were finished eating. Honestly the whole experience was terrible. If you're into smoked meats the smoke had barely penetrated the meat and any smoky flavour was short lived and weak. Not worth the price, not worth the wait, and certainly not worth having next to no service the entire night.

Food was very nice, cooked well but wasn't great after cooling down. Waiters were friendly but after ordering, were largely ignored and had to wait about 5/10 minutes trying to get someone's attention.

Amazing restaurant!! We found it by luck and we were blown away. Such friendly and warm customer service. They checked on us and made sure that everything was good. The portions were large and we could barely finish our plates. The interior design is “Texan-style” , which is something that one doesn’t see often. The food was delicious, we got the ribs, the pulled pork sandwich and the buffalo wings. I highly recommend this place!

Authentic barbecue ribs and chicken. Very nice atmosphere but it is a bit quiet on Sunday night. Staff is super friendly and helpful. She gave us a small plate to try different sauce before picking the one for our chicken. Very customer centric experience. An affordable dining options in central Bristol.

The table service was lovely BUT NOT GOOD for celiacs!! They said their BBQ sauce was gluten free and the ingredients listed on the back stated gluten! I don’t think they understand how to prep gluten free food and not cross contaminate. I had a bad stomach & in a lot of pain after eating here!

Booked a table for friends today for my birthday.. safe to say we were genuinely disappointed. Let me start by saying the only reason this place has a rating of 3 from me is because of Emily. She was attentive to the table and fulfilled our orders perfectly. Top class act, deserves a raise. The food was standard. Nothing special.. but that Mac n’ cheese was banging. Now let’s get to the dampener of the meal, and it’s not the autumnal weather. Nik, oh boy, NIK. Completely ruined our experience with his aggressive approach to another table. Now I’m not sure of context of the scenario but he was being so aggressive towards them that we could easily over hear his comments and it paused our conversation as it was interruptive. I mean if you’re not happy with a table and their manners, you ask them to leave. You don’t aggressively approach them and condescend them within an inch of their lives. Completely unprofessional and a stain on this establishment. Politely informed him of his ill actions at the end of our meal before we left, he responded with aggression and was dismissive of his wrong doings. Won’t be coming back anytime soon and will be informing others to avoid.

Shocking and highly frustrating experience! Called Fri am to ask if they had space for a part of 10 said was aware it was last minute. Advised they could seat us at 20:45 that night - arrive, no record of the booking, staff not engaging and left to stand around whilst they sought to get answers. Their response “we’ll try and seat you at 21:30” whilst the food looked great failure to process booking and attitude of staff on the night was beyond shocking. Very disappointing - and out of principle won’t be going back and would suggest others don’t trust their customer service approach either.

Succulent meal.. the seasonal veg can be more innovative…

Food here is always tasty and decent portions. Me and my partner had a bit of everything as we always want the whole menu so we had chicken wings, half rack ribs, cheese sausage, loaded fries and brisket all very tasty and would highly recommend. The reason for me only giving three stars is the staff just didn’t want to be there, our waiter said to us that he wished he was at home and not working ( we all have days like this but you don’t tell your customers) no one was happy and just wanted to get out. I understand hospitality jobs can be hardworking and some days are worse than others but from a customers perspective we could clearly see they didn’t want to be there. I would definitely return because the food is lush and I’m such a foodie person but in the past when we have eaten here the service was excellent but this one time it let it down.

We visited the spitfire for a family meal during half term, as we all love smoked food but don’t have a barbecue restaurant near where we live. The restaurant was quite quiet, as it was a weekday lunchtime, we ordered a selection of food including dirty fries, Mac & cheese, Texan spare ribs, dirty dog. All the food we had was delicious but the ribs were totally out of this world - amazing!! I highly recommend coming to the restaurant and ordering the ribs 😁

Good bbq offerings along with tasty sides. A touch pricy. Service was very slow for a Wednesday evening and took nearly 30 mins for our initial drinks orders. Hopefully, this was just a blip. Good location & definitely worth going in summer as the restaurant is on the river.

Food was great overall, the only thing I would possibly change would be the slaw, was needing more dressing but it still tasted nice. Loved the overall food and service.

It was a Wednesday evening booking for a small group of people. We were seated rapidly and after about 20 mins our food and drink order was taken. We then had to wait for one and a half hours before the food finally arrived and certain items arrived cold. Although after complaining the cold items were replaced, I can say this was not the idea situation. Apart from the bad service I have no other complaints, the food when hot is very tasty. The beer choices are quite good. Just one final point, I recommend that you check the bill carefully. Will I be going to the Spitfire again? I don't think so, mainly because of slow service on a Wednesday. Imagine the waiting time on a busy day..

Very good eatery with a varied menu. Right on the waterfront it has nice character. The service was attentive and friendly. Even better however is the food. The cheese/jalapeno sausage is amazing and their pit beans are some of the best I've eaten. Not to be missed if you fancy a nice meal in Bristol.

First visit but definitely won’t be our last. Food was fantastic, most dishes are gluten free and staff very helpful and friendly.

A chance encounter after passing in the afternoon and smelling delicious BBQ aroma. We were VERY pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely delicious and really lovely to see decent options on the kids menu, not just standard; nuggets, fish, burger, pizza. It was a great meal for everyone aged 7 to 46! The drinks were lovely too. 2 really great cocktails, mocktails at reasonable prices and lovely local cider. Great, very helpful service. Overall a very enjoyable evening for all.

I had a slice of beef brisket and a dirty fries, which had pulled pork on it. I must say, that the pulled pork was quite tasty, the BBQ sauce was nicely balanced, not too sweet. The brisket itself didn't had any characteristics in flavour, but the tenderness was good. I think the portions are way too small for the price and the soft drinks are expensive. Also, they have only one toilet for a restaurant which has 50 seatings approx. is a bit lame.

"I can't imagine how this restaurant received so many recommendations. Today, we walked in and randomly chose a table for two. We ordered the pork chop and sirloin steak, and the food itself was fine. However, the issue was the wait time – we waited a full 50 minutes. Excellent food, good price and staff as well

I really really great amazing Resturant came here with a friend we had beef brisket and a beef, steak and fries. The food was super delicious. The staff are friendly and very welcoming. I definitely recommend this place. One of the best briskets have had in Bristol .

If you are looking to eat the most flavoursome meat dishes in Bristol then you have to come here! Do not come here if you are in a hurry. This restaurant does not pretend to be a fast food place and states that the food is slow cooked on their website menu. We had a 35 min wait for food to arrive, which was fine because we were having a chilled out Friday afternoon. Good things come to those who wait and we were rewarded with meat dishes that would make a T-Rex smile! Next time we come back, it would be nice to have some complimentary savoury snacks (for example peanuts or crisps) to nibble on as we were chatting and waiting for the food to arrive. We were very hungry after driving a couple of hours. During the wait for our food to arrive, we watched the waiters eating at the pass. Some of them were picking up the food off the dish with their hands and some of them were using a fork. We got worried that they were sampling our food and they were going to bring it over half eaten. Luckily, our food was still cooking and their empty plate was taken back into the kitchen. It appears the chef had made a little treat for the staff! I’m glad the staff get well looked after as employees and they clearly enjoyed the food. However, when I used to work in a chip shop, we were only allowed to eat the food in the back room on a break. The best meat dishes that we tried were that amazingly tasty Spitfire sausage and the pulled pork. There was a bottle of the restaurant’s own barbecue sauce on the table and this went perfectly with the pulled pork. The beef brisket was tender and awesomely slow cooked but was served at a colder temperature compared to the other items on the tray. The portion of Cowboy Fries served in a tiny enamel bowl was small for £6.55. We wish the portion was better value for money because they were so wonderfully crispy! Also, the half chicken was very small for £10. I wondered if it was a poussin. The half chickens in Nando’s are much larger. The bones were removed from the portions of salt and pepper chicken thigh (that we ordered separately to the half chicken) which made the thighs very easy to eat. We enjoyed the bonus third thigh because we only ordered two! The thighs went perfectly with the Louisiana bottle of sauce on the table. This sauce is not for the faint hearted as it does have a strong chilli kick to it! A waiter tried to take our tray before I’d eaten all of the yummy gherkin garnish! I’m a slow eater so I’m used to this happening, unfortunately. There were more staff than customers in the restaurant so maybe he was just looking for a job to do. He came back again when I’d actually finished to take the remaining tray and plate. It was nice that he was smiley but he didn’t ask us if we’d like any desserts or the bill. We were sitting at our empty table for 7 minutes before we decided to get up and ask for dessert on the way to the toilet. The toilets were fairly clean. I appreciate that you can’t choose your customers based on their toilet etiquette but there was urine on the seat in the men’s toilet. Based on the staff to customer ratio at the time we were in the restaurant then I think the toilets should have been spotless. The peanut butter stack dessert then came out quickly within 1 minute of us asking. Think crunchy peanut caramel layered in a gooey chocolate cake. I was expecting it to be served warm but I think it was served cold to keep the layers in tact. It was divine! The bill came to £77.60 for the two of us. That included two pint of cider, a selection of bbq mains, half a chicken, two sides and one dessert (which we shared). Pricey but the meat and other ingredients were of a high quality. Overall, the superb food itself is worthy of the 5 stars I gave in this review. We really enjoyed eating and drinking everything that we ordered.

The first time is perfect but the second time the meat is too much fat and too little crunchy

Nice spot on the river and the staff were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the food I had was below standard. I had the ribs which were dry and chewy. Other dishes may have been better I suppose. Price was quite high also.

Went for an afternoon meal, and as my kids would say... OMG! The rib was massive and just melted in my mouth. It was amazing and great for a treat. I like to be balanced, so the only downside was you had to pay separately for the main and sides. Other than that, I can not fault this venue. A* and I'll be back. There is no non disabled parking, but the car park is a 2 minute walk (if that).

Terrible food # cold rude staff I've had better at burger king personally i will recommend this place to people i don't like how can you have the name Spitfire and your foods cold is beyond me you live and learn i suppose as this place is rubbish :(

Came in for my wife’s birthday, greeted at the door instantly, Alex our server was an incredible host, great vibes, good laugh and very friendly and knowledgeable of the food, food itself was 11/10 pulled the bones out of my ribs like it was butter, brisket was tender and melt in your mouth, chicken thighs were succulent and juicy, all in al top place and you can see everyone cares, will definitely be back, hats off to Alex and the Chefs!!
