Popped in on the way back from Twickenham. The appearance of the bar and seating area are quite pleasant. To a country boy like me; the prices seemed quite shocking, approx. £6 a pint and around £12.50 for a burger depending on which version chosen. The service was quite slow, and not very friendly, but to be fair they had train loads of Rugby fans passing through at the time.

We used to frequent this bar a lot and it was always crowded. It's gone downhill so fast. Last time I went a couple of weeks ago it was closing at a ludicrously early time. Tonight no pump beers and the toilets were out of action (I assume the passcode locks had been rumbled). Hardly anyone in on a Friday. £10.99 for a glass of mediocre wine was the cherry on the cake

Went in on Cup Final / Royal Wedding Day but found only 2 staff behind the bar and I think it was the bloke's first day as he wasn't sure how to use the Card Machine properly and had to be helped out by the young lady. She seemed to be an expert in finding things to do behind the Bar without actually serving anyone. A few people walked out without a drink. We had one and left although we had intended to be there for a couple of hours at least as we were all meeting up there.

Popped in for a glass of wine as I had a 30 min wait for my train. I waited about 5 mins as both staff were serving. Along cane ‘Ms customer service of the year’. She barked at me asking who was next. Know your bar and if you do you should know I was the only one waiting for a while. Then I had ‘what do you want’ followed by a grunt, no smile and her stomping off. I joked with the customer next to me that she may come back with a smile. She slammed my drink on the counter and continued her wonderful charm offensive-there was no thank you for payment-just a card machine shoved towards me, no smile…nothing but a face like thunder. Now, if you hate your job that much, get another. Having worked in bars for many years she’d def not be employed by me. I dare say the pub doesn’t care as it’s passing trade but next time I’ll go elsewhere. I’d advise her to do the same as she’s got the people skills of a nat.

The staff member behind the bar was so unfriendly and rude to all customers that it really made us feel uncomfortable as soon as we arrived. Then my drink was served in a cracked glass around the rim and I nearly cut my mouth. The toilets were disgusting and the place was a mess. We drank our drinks quickly and escaped.

This was an excellent choice and we all tucked in and really enjoyed the food. The place was not too busy at the time and we were served drinks and food very promptly. The bar can be found in he far south corner of Waterloo station down a flight of stairs. Not sure how good it would be for wheelchair access? Nice atmosphere and friendly efficient staff. Certainly worth a try if you have to wait for a train.

I was surprised it was quite ok for a drink, you could have been in any London pub. I pass through London Waterloo most weeks and always stop here if I have time. It is a very well situated underground pub just by the taxi rank and the cash points. There's a long bar serving a fantastic range of lagers and beers, which change weekly. The food is good old fashioned pub food - burgers for lunch, full English for breakfast, that type of thing. But the food is good - really good. And served quickly. With screens around telling you about the train times and platforms, where else would you rather be for that half hour before your train leaves?!

After a long day with a large group of friend we were trying to find somewhere to eat that would catter for 15 people in London on a saturday night without having to book. So we finally found Beer House at Waterloo. My food was ok (it was a buger and chips something that is very difficult to get wrong) however I had expressed for it not to have any tomoto's in it, and when the server brought my food out he actually said Buger and chips with no tomato's and as the food was put down from the side of it I could see 3 large slices of tomato in it. After pointing this out to him he took it away and them came back with the tomoatos gone. The food it self wouldn't have won any awards but it filled a space as a I hadn't eatten all day it did it's job. However other within out paarty had asked for some chicken side dishes only to find out that onces they had started eatting that the chicken was pink (under cooked) and asked to have another that was propperly cooked, sadly one of our party then spent half the night reliving this mistake.

This evening I stopped in at the Beer House for a couple of drinks with my cousin to catch up before getting our respective trains home. Before leaving we tried to use the gents (imperative before a long train journey home) but found the male facilities were out of order due to flooding. At that moment a waiter passed us. I mentioned to him that as a piece of customer feedback, they should resolve the issue asap as they are legally obliged to provide facilities to their customers (as a restaurant offering sit-in facilities). The immediate response received was as follows: "If I owned the place I would care, but I only work here so I don't.". Upon my shock at this response I asked for his name in order to provide feedback, at which he told me "Bishoy", but then refused to give me his surname unless I gave him my name and that he would be contacting me if I made a complaint (in a somewhat threatening tone). I will never return to this establishment. Totally gobsmacked!

Thought I would try this place out for food while waiting for train home as just back from holiday and no food at home. What a mistake that was, would have had better food if I had eaten a beer mat. Ordered the fish and chips and when it turned the batter was all burnt and solid and the fish inside was so dry it crumbled. Complained to the barman who looked at me like I was an alien and eventually got the manager who also looked equally bemused by a complaint about the quality but did offer to replace it. So there I sat again waiting for food, but not long this time as the replacement food turned within a few minutes and this time not burnt to a crisp. Instead it was quite the opposite, greasy, not cooked properly and just as inedible. Is this just a cook (with that quality of food even being a cook is too much of a compliment for him/her) having a bad day or was it deliberate. My thoughts are on deliberate as I saw the manager and barman looking over and laughing. At that point I was faced with a dilemma, take the food back a second time and see what they could possibly have done or leave for my train which was leaving in 5 minutes. I decided on the latter and despite still being hungry it was by far the best decision. My advice to anyone thinking of eating there is instead of walking down the stairs go up the escalators and you will get food worth paying for or just go home but do not visit this place.

Never is the term 'watering hole' more appropriately applied to an English pub. This is the perfect spot for observing a clustered grouping of London's migratory animals and patterns. This Waterloo based water hole is a magnet for all types of species looking to refuel and gather energy before the long migration to Surbiton, Guildford or Woking. See London's finest in their natural habitat doing what they do best, whether that be enjoying a drink with friends or just themselves, making amorous advances at random strangers you'll find a wide variety of mating displays, plumage and behaviour here. Stockbrokers, builders, lunatics and lawyers can all be found shoulder to shoulder necking a 'quick one' before almost missing the 18:52 in this bastion of last chance saloons.Observe from the safety of the bar or join right in, everyone's welcome, it's not just a spectator sport. With an impressive selection of world beers on offer, feel free to join in and become a statistic. The food is workman-like but tasty and good value allowing avoidance of the classic English tradition\downfall of "10 pints, no Tea".

Catching a morning train to Exeter at 10.20, arrived early at Waterloo. Having time to spare - looked for breakfast oportunities - my old cafe had disappeared in the regeneration of the station, so chanced to see if the Beer House provided breakfast - I struck gold. This has to be amongst the best value breakfasts in London, varying on your apetite, there is everything to suit from eggs on toast at £2.95 to the ultimate breakfast at £8.25. I consider myself a bit of a trencherman, but this almost defeated me. it was huge, excellent coffee and with lashings of toast as well included in the price. The staff were polite, the service was good, I wasn't looking for great surroundings or beer - although one of the other diners was washing his porridge down with a pint of lager - so my expectations were moderate but well exceeded - and there was plenty of space.Next time I'm travelling to Waterloo in the morning, will make time for breakfast again rather than the indifferent muffin and starbucks on the train.

Great selection of beers here. I had a chili beer which was interesting to say the least. A lot bigger than the small stairs entrance would give accross. Nothing else really here to distinguish it from every other english pub.
