Beefeater The Turnpike in South Northamptonshire

We stayed at the Premier inn across for the night and booked breakfast. We had cooked and continental. The cooked breakfast is cooked to order (eat as much as you like) and the continental breakfast is buffet style. The food was fantastic and the service was good.

Had to book time for breakfast so arrived at 1030, no table available a short wait got a table, ordered breakfast and received it at 1135am over an hour wait for breakfast just not good enough.

Worst meal we have ever had there . It was left under the heat lamps and was dried out . No one checked to see how our meals were . Left most of mine .also had run out of Sunday roast

Lunchtime birthday treat - we all ordered from the main menu (confirmed by server when ordering) I had the smothered chicken melt @ £15.49 but it was more like a covered budgie! Such a tiny portion of chicken. I think my plate must have been mixed up with the neighbouring table who had ordered the same but from the light lunch menu @ £7.99 - theirs appeared much larger than what I had been served :( Was so disappointed as I left still feeling hungry! Should have queried and complained but as it was a 91st birthday celebration I did not want to make a fuss and spoil the day. Not sure I will rush back for another meal and if I do I'll certainly be complaining if not acceptable!

Decor very tired and dark. Parts of menu not available but prices stayed the same.

Booked a table for 12, and after we had ordered, they told us they had supply issues . The meals all looked like they had been made smaller, yet they still charged full price when they shouldn't even be doing food if they can't supply the correct meals. Over £300 spent when it was only worth half that amount.

Never seen staff work so hard on new years day excellent customer service

Had the curry and it had lots of chicken in. Which was really nice quite often it's more sauce than chicken at other place

Went here tonight with my family, my mum is gluten intolerant severely. When ordering we made absolute sure that the waitress was aware that gluten is an absolute no for my mums meal. We were all served pretty quick however, missing sauces and general presentation wasn’t great. After eating out main meal, my mum was double checking what she had eaten on the menu vs what she had just eaten. There was a sausage included in her meal that wasn’t on the menu. The sheer panic and upset caused by this as usually most sausages contain gluten, I spoke to the waitress where she said she would go and ask the chef. We were sat not far from the kitchen and saw that the chef went into absolute panic when asked if the sausages were GF. They found the packet for the sausages and LUCKILY they were GF but, this goes to Show that the staff are NOT trained properly on allergens. Would not recommend for people with allergens atall.

Asked for a quiet table with wheel chair access & all was supplied to our satisfaction. Service was attentive, but not intrusive & the food was good, despite the restricted menu. Thankyou

We booked a table for seven, (3 children) on 27/12/24. No pancakes, one crumpet, no berries, no muffins. A very disappointing visit for the children. On the positive side the waiter, Jonathan, was incredible. He was greeting people, taking orders, delivering orders, filling up the buffet and clearing tables, whilst still being cheerful. Only one member of staff doing this was unfair to him. Large parties having booked in with families made his job even harder. We have been in other Beefeaters for breakfast with more staff on, fewer patrons and tables still left dirty. Jonathan deserves a raise or a bonus.

Went there yesterday for Christmas dinner The food was undercooked and massively disappointed as been there previous years and it was very good. Such a shame

Waiting time was dire, food quality was substandard. I have eaten at Beefeater in Worksop many times with absolutely no issues. This was my first and last visit to Northampton Beefeater, I only went there because I live in Wellingborough and we don’t have one anymore. Just very very poor.

Arrived to be told limited menu due to a flood in the warehouse , when we seen the menu they seemed to have all the more expensive items?! Ordered a fillet steak and mixed grill , fillet steak was tough and more rare than medium , mixed grill had 2 eggs one of them you wouldn’t of served as broken so asked for another one , which they did , the triple cooked chips where not the usual ones , a cheaper version, food wasn’t particularly hot , order 2 mint sundaes , which were ok however the chocolate sauce was caramel sauce! When we queried this, waitress said yes we have ran out! What a shambles in the run up to Christmas , won’t bother again , waste of time and money .

Had a party of 10 on the 19th December 2024. The service was amazing, but the food was shocking and cold. Would not visit here again

Beefeater are having supply issues with food. We were given an extremely reduced menu with less than a quarter of the usual items actually available. The extremely young staff didn't seem to care. It was a take it or leave it attitude. They gave us some mumbled excuse about a gas issue at the warehouse causing the problems. Quite honestly they didn't seem to believe it either. I am concerned that I have Christmas Day Lunch booked with them and there may not be any food available by then. Not recommended until they get themselves sorted out.

Had a great experience everyone was very friendly and service was great despite technical problems after a flood, our server LAURO looked after us very well

Food value was as good as ever. Our server, Angie, was excellent. Only downside was repair work on flooded floor created some background smells but we fully understand it has to be done. Will be back with family in the near future.

Had a lovely lunch at Turnpike today , even though they had suffered quite considerable flood damage , the restaurant and bar were open and a warm welcome was given. We were asked for any food allergies so the correct menus could be given. Steak was delicious, my mums gosh and chips looked amazing too and gluten free options were available. Recommended for dinner or lunch . Service was 100% thank you

The place was busy and the staff were having to work under difficult conditions. Unfortunately, the restaurant had been flooded just a couple of days before our visit so a large portion of the restaurant was taped off. Despite the circumstances, the staff did a good job of providing an efficient service and all that I came across, did their upmost to provide a friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. The standard of food wasn't effected by the difficult working conditions. Four of us all thoroughly enjoyed our 'cooked to perfection' meals and our evening at The Turnpike! Thank you to the manager and staff that made this possible and shame on those customers that moaned and complained about things that were out of the manager's control. He and his staff did everything they could to provide a decent experience but regardless of how well they do their part, they can not control the weather! Maybe some people should show more empathy and be grateful the manager had bothered to open and provide meals/drinks etc for the many that chose to eat there. Well done guys. I hope things improve for you very soon!!

Absolutely amazing..travelled up from Brighton to Scotland and stopped en route for Breakfast... staff extremely accommodating and food was incredible...not usually one for a cooked brekkie but this was fantastic... everything from toast, pastries, cereals fruit and cooked etc... brilliant...thank you...

Part of our order was wrong, their solution was to try and cut corners to rectify the issue, which did eventually happen, the portion sizes for the the prices were in my opinion rediculous. My meal ( picture attached ) was £17.50! The only upside was that the onion rings as a side were brilliant. Not sure it’s right to pay £70 for a meal for myself and partner, to still leave hungry. Will be avoiding beefeaters for a while now

Went on a Saturday morning so was expecting it to be busy. It wasn't that bad so was pleasantly surprised. The food is cooked when ordered so is hot when arrives. Friendly staff too.

A very nice welcome, we hadn't booked, but they weren't busy so we were seated quickly. Drinks were ordered and soon arrived and starters and mains ordered. Hubby had the mushrooms to start and I had prawn cocktail, his was fine but my prawn cocktail was three quarters salad, our server said it was the new normal, nothing to be done about it! However the small amount of prawns and tiny bread tasted ok. On a more positive note our mains were really good, hubby had the chicken and rib combo and I went for rib eye steak which was the best steak I've eaten in years, so on the whole a nice meal.😀

Sunday lunch. Roast beef really good. Roast potatoes and stuffing rather overdone. Staff lovely.

Had breakfast here after staying at The Premier Inn. One of us had a full English breakfast and one the Continental, both of which were very good. But the best part was the service. A guy called Marc served us. He greeted us at the start, explained everything, and served us. He was absolutely run off of his feet as it was so busy, but nothing was too much trouble and he was so cheerful too! He was very helpful. I was stuck at the coffee machine and he noticed and helped even though he was so busy. He was the only person serving and no one had to wait for anything and the tables were kept clean and tidy. What a credit to company! Excellent!

Just walked out of the restaurant as the Sunday Roast was shocking !! Dried up meat and hardly any veg, awful frozen roast potatoes and the food was cold. Service was very slow and staff looked like they didn’t care. We got our drinks then our food when we told a manager we were leaving as it was inedible he was nice and said don’t pay for your drinks and I don’t know what has happened it was fine earlier, it was only 3pm ?!!!!!! as we left he went and told another member of staff who didn’t care she just shrugged her shoulders. Avoid Sunday dinner here and go somewhere else.

Guy behind the bar had one speed, slow. No interaction with customers and no manners. Plenty of staff doing nothing, went outside at one point and two female bar staff smoking whilst tables needed clearing. Sat in the bar area for 3 hours. Two finished meal plates sat on the table next to us the entire time. Left at 2200, they were still there. Restaurant area busy but bar area very quiet. Bar staff lazy, rude, don't care.

After travelling 40 minutes for my Sons football match against Harpole and it being called off once we arrived, least to say I wasn't amused. We came into the restaurant before travelling home and Marc was instantly welcoming, helped us get our drinks, nothing was too much trouble and he definitely made our morning so much better. Massive thanks Marc 😊

Waited around 15 mins to be seated and there was no staff around at all .. none in the kitchen or behind the bar .. 4 people was waiting and we just left .. very disappointed

Buy refillable drink but never asked if I want it refilled. Even when I do ask it gets ignored. Odd. Plenty of staff all looking busy but it's not a massive place. Toilets are vile. How about checking on it occasionally? Shame because the food was good.

Lovely place lazy staff had to wait for him 15 minutes to order while what I can see him doing is playing on his phone the table next to me had sausages missing from there breakfast. With the right staff could be a nice place

Arrived at 6.30 on a Friday night. Staying at the Premier Inn next door. Guess I should have booked in advance. Earliest booking 8.30. Sat in the bar area so was able to order earlier. To be fair to them, and knowing they were short staffed, the hour long wait the said from ordering for food was about 10 mins for the starter and 25 mins for the main. Whilst I don't expect fine dining for the price, the Calamari was disappointing. The actual calamari itself was good, but the coating was over. And for the price I don't think it was value for money. The main (Sirloin) was cooked to my liking and was tasty. The plate did seem a little empty for the price with the triple cooked chips being a bit sparse, and the only other accompaniments being peas, a mushroom and half a tomato. Quantity and perhaps some onion rings would have helped The value for money was, in my opinion, not what I would have hoped for. Staff wise they were all friendly, especially considering how busy they were and the fact they needed more staff. Special mention for Naomi (sorry if thay is spelled incorrectly) and Kristina. They were professional, friendly, and made the difference between a poor review all round and a reasonably good review. Beefeater - give them a raise or a bonus. Or both!

Visited last night. My wife ordered the chicken and ribs combo. When it arrived it consisted of a thin slice of chicken breast and half a rack of ribs which looked like the ones you can buy in a supermarket. When she started to eat them, they were not hot. We called the waitress over who was very apologetic and she would get my wife a fresh meal. When she returned it was the same meal that had been reheated. It appears that the person cooking didn't believe it warranted a fresh meal. The meal had been back on the grill for such a short time that it became cold again. My wife couldn't eat it. The waitress was again very apologetic and said would take the meal off the bill. As a gesture they also took our wine off the bill. However I feel it should be highlighted that the attitude of the "cook" showed that he no regard for the food he was giving to paying customers, he believes that his opinion counts over the customer and the waitress, who said it would be replaced.

we were at dinner yesterday, at 8pm the tables were already leaving so it wasn't busy like always at this hour, we ordered starters, we waited short time, all 4 starters were burnt, dark, oily...they was run out of steaks so we ordered burgers, we didn't finish the starters and our dinner was already on the food pass , after clearing the starters we get straight away main burgers that had been standing on the pass for about 10 minutes, they were warm from the heating lights, the meat was burnt. we don't recommend the place on weedon road... I sow manager apologies few leaving tables… so I gest it’s not just as unhappy.

We booked days ahead. You can't choose your food ahead. When we got there-- 5 -- new customers we were told no more Sunday roasts left.This was 4pm !! Spoke to the manager who couldn't care less. AVOID THEY DONT DESERVE CUSTOMERS

Stopped here for a full English. Got here late and the manager who greeted us could not have been friendlier or more professional. I think one of the staff called him Laurie or Laurent. But his whole team were thoughtful, professional and polite. I’ve been in a few other Beefeaters where the staff give the impression they’re interrupting an important chat to deal with the customers. If you’re in the Northampton area you’d be well advised to try this place. And Beefeater should promote this guy to head of personnel and training. Oh, and the kids eating free makes it hard to beat in terms of value

This was a standard Beefeater. We had an evening meal here to break up a long journey. The staff were very nice but sometimes hard to find, 1 waitress said she couldn't help us get our bill as we needed to find our waitress. The food was OK, toilets were OK but nothing special. One of our group has a nut allergy, when we advised of this we were given a greasy, grubby feeling lever arch file to look through to see what meals contained nuts. The writing was tiny and it was not user-friendly. It felt like a box was being ticked by dumping the folder on our table rather than showing any due care or concern towards the guest with the food allergy.

We went on August Bank Holiday Saturday at mid day, it was very busy but there was no wait and the service was brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

As always, a lovely experience eating here and the attention Lauro and his team give us is always top- notch. Lauro deserves a special shout out as he is always so welcoming and attentive. Fully recommend!!!!

A lovely warm welcome yet again and great food nothing ever to much trouble ,Roast Beef lunch and Roast Chicken was fab too even better with 25% off 👍.

I stayed 2 nights in the Premier Inn next door. First night I was asked to eat in the bar area. I couldn't get served, only one member of staff behind the bar, walked out and went else where, next morning breakfast was ok. Second night my resignation didn't make it through but I got a table. It took 30 mins to be asked what I want to eat. A couple next to me arrived 10 mins after me and complained about the lack of service. My fish and chips arrived quite soon after but it was the smallest portion that I have ever seen. The did not look very good. I asked if it was a child's portion and was ignored until I asked for a reply. My boll arrived and I was over charged. Breakfast on the final morning was again ok. This has put me off staying at the Premier Inn again next door.

Did not book, friendly greeting. Good choices on the menu. Food came out hot and in good time. Desserts were delicious. Ample free parking.

Recently visited the Turnpike and I must say I loved it. Special shoutout to Jonathan who made our evening even better with his friendly demeanour, excellent recommendations and overall personality. If you’re looking for a great place to unwind with good company, yummy food and exceptional service, The Turnpike is the spot. Can’t wait to visit again :)

Reasonably priced, tasty food. Suitable for my children as there is lots of different choices and they loved sitting outside.

Went yesterday with my daughter and 2 grandchildren . The 2 men serving looked scruffy and when I asked one if he had English mustard he looked at me like I was stupid. We had only just sat down and was asked straight away if we wanted drinks, we ordered 3 zero cokes and a wine. A lady appeared straight away and asked if we were ready to order, we’d literally just sat down. We ordered food then as we started eating our steaks from the main menu she came over to tell us she would bring the tomato half and a mushroom each over to us because we had ordered from the main menu. We asked about the bottomless drinks and she said you get that anyway with dietdrinks, Urmm well how was we supposed to know that? The steak was lovely, the chips were disgusting, they seemed old and refried, Urmm about 10 peas on the plate. Luckily I had a 40% off of mains but we still spent £60. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. Won’t be going back. The lady was the only one in uniform, the 2 men looked as if they’d popped in for food

Recently had grub and drinks here and it was decent. Jonathan in particular was so nice and affectionate to our party and made our experience the best it could be. So give him extra plaudits for that

After enjoying their awesome breakfasts I thought I would try dinner. Had a mixed grill and the Mrs a rack of ribs. Quality food that didnt break the bank.

This gives the impression of a business in decline the host's laptop was falling apart, I visited as part of a stay at the adjacent Premier Inn, The meet and greet person was rushed off his feet he didn't have any information as to who was having a continental breakfast or full English, the cereal dispenser was loose on its base and seemed in imminent danger of collapse, one of the toasters was missing a foot and therefore lopsided. The food was OK but the apparent chaos was disturbing.

Stood for 20 minutes waiting to order a pint at the bar. Not good enough really. 🤣

We had a lovely lunch here today. The restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was buzzing. Lovely food as always - my rump steak was perfectly cooked and only £9.99 on the lunctime menu! I chose to have a salad instead of chips, and it was really good. Angie looked after us brilliantly as she always does. She is a credit to The Turnpike and the Beefeater brand. Thanks to Mark for the fab liqueur coffees.

Great breakfast. Could have been a few more choices available for fruit and yoghurt flavours but otherwise a really good variety of food, both cooked and continental.
