This came recommended by friends (we seem to have missed it repeatedly!) and it opens on a Sunday (yeeha) - modern, warm and inviting place just opposite the Council Offices (and next to the Smokehouse) - we were there early for brunch - it was busy but not crowded - great food and coffee menu and helpful staff. Food was rapid and excellent quality. Loved it

Delicious freshly prepared brunch and great coffee. Helpful staff too. Lots of interesting books to browse. Busy at lunchtime but very efficient service.

Had lovely eggs royale which given the BnB didn't do breakfast, was perfect On our way back through Stornoway it was a no brainer to return for brunch..just as delicious and in beautiful surroundings.

We as four gentlemen on a fishing holiday stopped in for breakfast, all four plates cleared. The food was delicious, well prepared and freshly made. Tea came in large enough teapots for each of us to have three cups each from our individual teapots. The staff were very friendly even though they had a lot of customers. I would recommend this place for enjoyable food and ambience, the restaurant is very modern with a smoke house you can view from restaurant, that alone told me these folks are serious on food safety, quality & preperation.

Too late for breakfast, and too early for lunch, so had to settle for very limited brunch menu. Eggs Benedict was fine, if overpriced. Modern surroundings, efficient (if not too friendly) staff, but my, was the place cold!!!

Brilliant spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Fancy options available, but if you're on a budget, you can get a brilliant three-item roll for £3.50. The building is lovely - light, airy, modern design. A must for all tourists and locals alike.

We were so lucky to have spotted this place in the local paper as I don’t think we would have found it otherwise. Delicious coffee and stunning food! Make sure to check this place out as it is the best breakfast we’ve had in ages. Already trying to work out how we fit another visit in before we get the ferry home to try the many mouthwatering options. I can be very picky about my poachies but these were perfect. 10/10

The cafe was great! Lovely design and size. Cheerful, positive service. Tasty, fresh food made from scratch, lovely baked goods, nice and understanding about our kids☺️Wonderful coffee! Also was a plus that it was open on a Sunday. We would definitely come back! Thank you Chris and Co ☺️ I would maybe sort out GPS issues as it sends you past the petrol station which clearly isn’t right 👍🏽

A really good bowl of soup; hot and tasty salmon skink. Followed on with really good coffee and the biggest scone I've ever seen. It was freshly baked, light and fluffy.

Inspired by the “EatDrinkHebrides” trail map, popped in to collect a picnic lunch during a Hebridean road trip. We had the most amazing toasties and hot chocolate. Handy for the ferry. Worth a detour!!

OK food & drinks when you finally get them, but with the most laughably chaotic ordering and serving system we've ever come across. Young staff were doing their best, but someone needs to take this place by the scruff of the neck and devise a clearer way of letting guests know which door to go in, which desk to queue at and where to wait the 15 minutes or so to get the hot drink and slice of cake they've ordered.

Great location (central to town and opposite the Lewis Castle with view of the water and the castle) Most genuinely kind people in the hotel - from getting a corkscrew to the room to securing a reservation at the restaurant, they were quick to help with a smile or a hearty laugh that made me feel cared for. The hotel restaurant is one of the best ones I tried in town. Plenty options, fresh ingredients and well executed dishes. Our room is a bit dated but comfortable and spacious.

Just visited the cafe for lunch, it was OK, asked for a tuna sandwich on brown bread as I'm diabetic but got it on white😠 Prices were reasonable and great views of the harbour from window seats.

Such a warm welcome awaits you from all staff at doune braes hotel who go out of their way to make your stay so comfortable. Rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. Full Scottish breakfast provided is perfect served by smiling friendly staff. Evening meal was very tasty we had Venison cassoulette followed by sticky toffee pudding perfect after a day walking. The hotel were also very welcoming to our dog and even provided a separate eating area off the main dining room. I still can't understand any negative reviews as yes the hotel maybe a little older but everything is in good order and we had a very relaxing stay. We will definitely be back as soon as possible 😊
