Bebek Restaurant in Rochford

All the chairs were wobbly, loud rock music blaring from tv in corner, barman wearing an anorak one poor lady serving. Food appalling £7.50 for a prawn starter which had 6 tiny lukewarm prawns, overcooked crispy squid rings. Truly awful.

Debbie and I booked a table for 7pm as we were going on somewhere after dinner so we did not expect it to be busy at that time. When we arrived I said " we have a table booked for 7pm" the waitress response was "just sit anywhere". For my starter I order crispy fried prawn in harrisa sauce, when it arrived it was a bowl of diced red and green peppers with four tiny prawns hiding amongst the peppers, they also still had the tails on, so i had to fish them out of the dish to remove before eating. Debbie then order the cubed lamb for her main and again there were about four/five of the smallest peices of meat you could imagine. Then to round the experience off, when we left the two waitresses who were just sitting chatting, just about managed the word bye in our direction, no thank you or please come again. We will not return

We booked this restaurant for 4 people on Saturday the 31st august, we are new to the area on walking in no one to greet you, when we was eventually shown to our seat on sitting down I noticed about 4 dead flies on the window ledge not a good first impression. On ordering a drink for 4 of us, no cider, no j20 no beer on draught the waiter was rude and said he does not do the ordering of stock. Decide to leave luckily enough at late notice we found somewhere else to eat, much cleaner & great service. Will not return to bebek

Second time we’ve been there and I’m pleased to say that everything we liked about it the first time remains. Go for the shared platter starter, you might not have heard of any of the dishes but I promise you will enjoy them. The Turkish beer is very drinkable and the lamb cubes main course had so much meat in it I couldn’t eat it all. Reasonable price, great service and yes, I will be going back again

This evening we wanted to treat my partner's Dad to a lovely meal. We had been to this restaurant before, found service a little slow but the food was delicious... where did it all go wrong? 19:50 Arrive at the Restaurant and get seated, 20:10 we finally get menus and drinks are ordered, 20:25 Order was taken and 20:35 were asked what our Mains Orders were again, 21:00 we received Starters and offered bread (which never turned up), 21:15 we finished starters with no sight of mains.. 21:40 we asked for the manager, who turned out wasn't even in the building. We walked out. My partner and I have never walked out of a restaurant before and we were so upset and angry as my partner's father had to get back to London, we left so he would be back before it was too late plus none of us had eaten. So now we are forced to get a takeaway as no restaurants could order so late. We like to support local restaurants when we can, but, when the staff are evasive and giving attitude, not giving us timescales or any explanations and the manager not even in the building when we asked to see them; It was the last straw. We shall not be going back ever again.

Visited on. Saturday Evening: 8.10 Walked in and seated by two surly waitresses 8.20 Eventually asked if we would like drink and given menus 8.30 Order taken 8.50 Surly waitress returns and asks us to repeat what we have ordered 9.00 We ask where starters are.....”just coming” 9.05 Starters arrive. “I will bring you some bread”. Bread was never to arrive. 9.30 Surly waitresses (3 of them) make no effort to apologise, ask how we are or shed any light on the whereabouts of our main course. Other diners leave. 9.35 We walk out. If this is the standard level of service at this establishment then heaven help it. A truly appalling experience at ah horrific establishment.

Went here last Saturday for dinner Calamari starter was bland and tasteless. Dinner - SEVERELY UNDERCOOKED chicken wings. Had we not cut them open first I can’t imagine how badly sick we would have got from eating them. Informed the waitress and showed her the chicken and an un-genuine and unapologetic sorry was given. Didn’t baffle her at all. She came back with the excuse “the chef uses a tomato paste so that’s why it is red” - that was definitely not tomato paste. It was raw, cold chicken. Rice was undercooked. Nothing was fresh and the sauces served with the bread were shop bought. The Tavuk Beyti was over processed, Bland and over cooked. Couldn’t finish it. No discount or gesture of goodwill (not that I’d want to even eat anything else from there) was offered so we paid the exact amount and left quickly. Had the restaurant been genuinely sorry for what they served then it wouldn’t have been such an issue - but they didn’t own up to their mistake nor even care. Used a pathetic excuse to try get out of it. AVOID.

Such a great place to meet friends and have great food. Portions are immense so careful what you choose, the lamb shank is to die for!

This was our second visit, the food was excellent and the service cheerful and efficient. Middle priced. They also do takeaways which we shall indulge in.

This is our second visit to Bebek (with different couples each time) and the food had been consistently very good. That, together with the restaurants relaxed atmosphere, reasonable pricing and the staff’s eagerness to please has attracted 5 stars from us.

We're new to Rochford and popped in here on a Friday night, following a few drinks. We were surprised there was only one other table the whole timevwe were there. The service was very attentive, the mezze platter started was superb! We both had lamb mains, which was nice if not terribly exciting. I think Bebek is well worth a visit, and we'll certainly be back!

A group of 7 of us stumbled upon Bebek last night and we had an incredible meal and a lovely time. We originally wanted a quick bite before we went out drinking, but we enjoyed Bebek so much we ended up staying all night! The platters include so much meat - we’ve all got doggy bags for today which is an additional bonus! Really reasonable, great atmosphere and lovely staff too.

I thought the prawns for starters where pretty good, but then the lamb. Wow. Look its not michelain star, but I've ate in a few, and they could do with lessons on how to cook lamb from these guys. So don't expect "fine" dining. And if these guys are average for Turkish food,then we're missing out on just having kebabs and moussaka.

I have been here quite a few times with my hubby and always had a lovely meal & great service. The last time I came with a couple of my friends and again no disappointments and even more so the chef went a little bit further to make us feel special, the chef likes to come out and chat to his customers makes you feel welcome, I can honestly recommend the platter for main, he prepared this delightful dish which looked and tasted amazing adding a couple of lit candles to it as he brought the food out himself. *perfect* :-)

Visited this restaurant for the first time last week. Had Taramasalata as a started, was very nice but a funny shade of pink colour. Had the Lamb and Chicken Sis as a main course, this was very tasty indeed and will most certainly have again. We went on to have a pudding when we could not decide the chef said he had some Baklava, this was awesome. The chef and young girl who had recently started working there was very pleasant and helpful. All in all we had a lovely meal and will definitely go back. It is a shame not many people are going there as they are missing out on a wonderful meal. So come on people give this restaurant a chance.

Visited this place on recommendation from the girlfriends parents. Parking is a bit of a pain as it’s on a one way street but once there it’s free In the evening. Got seated really quickly and was brought bread and dips which were free of charge and lovely so asked for more!! Had the prawns to start which were nice but wouldn’t order again as they were a little disappointing with the prawn size! Want massive prawns. Main meals were lovely and flavoursome and couldn’t finish them. Drink menu isn’t massive but have something for everyone including cocktails and then missus liked the pornstar!

We've been here a several times during the week and the prompt service and food has been great so we thought we'd try a Sat eve . We arrived and were the second diners , so not very busy. Waitress was overly friendly ( being called babe isn't very professional ) it took 3 attempts to get the correct bottle of wine , and several apologies and attempts later in getting our correct food order . There was a steady trickle of customers and lots of apologies by the waitress to other diners for the confusion with the food and drinks.

Having been to Turkey for a number of years we went to this delightful restaurant with friends thus evening. The staff were incredibly helpful, the restaurant itself is spotlessly clean and set out so you can dine in comfort, without being squashed in. The starter of hot and cold maze was more than sufficient for 4.

Four of us had a great meal on Sunday night and would definitely go back. Reasonably priced, great service and delicious food. Cold selection starter (no 8) and the "Hot Meze Tabagi" (no 20) was plenty enough for the four of us and a real good mix of titbits to try before your main. I had Lamb Sis for my main and oh my god it was fantastic, didn't look like a lot when it was served but honestly it was plenty. Don't go for the blue label beer have the other one as it's much tastier. Air conditioned restaurant, clean and comfortable. Highly recommend this if you are bored of Chinese and Indian......

My husband and I visited yesterday. I asked the very friendly waitress if we might sit somewhere cool and she showed us to a nice table and gave us the menus in the almost empty restaurant. We were not asked what drinks we wanted which would be normal procedure. Meanwhile three more couples came in and they duly ordered drinks and then the complementary bread was placed on their tables. We tried to catch her eye but she was busy being friendly with everyone else. When we heard her ask a table if they had finished their starters and were they ready to order mains we had had enough. We got up to go and was leaving as she was greeting some new arrivals. We walked past her and she said nothing. I wasn't about to start a row so we just left. What a disappointment. Terrible, terrible service but only it seems to us.

Just had takeaway from this restaurant.....very poor. Our vegetarian moussaka was in fact a meat moussaka and the lamb and chicken sis was in fact just lamb. We telephoned to complain and they very quickly bought a vegetable one which was actually inedible with no taste and uncooked potato. Certainly will not be using this again

I have eaten here on many occasions and have enjoyed the food and service every time. They clearly use better quality meat as compared to other Turkish restaurants in the area. I highly recommend a visit!

Just had a lovely meal at Bebek! The quality of the food was amazing and the staff were so friendly! We were on route to Southend airport and after seeing the bad reviews for Lakers restaurant which is in the terminal we decided to stop off at Rochdale (3 mins on train) for food. Delighted to have had such a great meal before our flight and a big thank you to the head Chef who made us feel very welcome at such an early hour! Would reccomend to anyone in the area to go, it was fantastic! Thank you!

Great food, great atmosphere. Service is spot on. Efes Draft in a traditional beer tankered is different but actually a nice touch Highly recommended. A nice find. Well done Bebek

Having dined in other local Turkish restaurants, my partner and I decided to visit this new establishment whilst driving back from the cinema.

The first time I've eaten at this fairly new Turkish restaurant. Decor was modern classy and clean. Service superb. Generous portions of extremely tasty food. Will definitely go back again.

Very good food, with astonishing dishes, welcoming people. Must go and enjoy, really. Very close to airport which is convenient.

I have eaten in Turkish restaurants in London and many large cities - it is one of my favourite cuisines, so I am not easily pleased, but I was bowled over by Bebek. It isn't a kebab house, but a high end restaurant serving top quality food in pleasant surroundings. The chef really knows his stuff, and the service is friendly and efficient. They have only been open for a few months, but are already beginning to get a reputation locally. If you like Turkish food as much as I do, get down there - it's not to be missed.
