Unfortunately, just as other reviewers have said, the guy was abrupt, unhelpful and quite rude both to my friend and to two other customers whose drinks were cold. Seating is uncomfortable and ambience poor. We went there because I like to support independent places, but won't be back.

Coffee is great, pastries just so-so. Nice atmosphere and a comfortable place to take shelter in colder days.

The staff in here have now decided to just be rude and unpleasant to the customers. Although this does not apply to the manager, it is never good to made to feel uncomfortable when going for a coffee. It is a shame as it used to be good.

No complaints about the coffee, it has always been good, ever since it opened. What has happened to the staff? They have gone from being rude to outright hostile to customers.

They are quiet up themselves when you ask them about their coffeee. Appreciate good coffee bean but attitude doesnt match unfortunately. They speak down to you rather than informative. 1 star for service and attitude. 1. Star for quiet a foamy coffee not micro coffee But they know their beans, maybe next time attitude will match the coffee beans

Lovely place for a great coffee. With a selection of various blends & single origins, drip and V60 coffees. Highly recommended.

Good spot to grab a hot drink! However if you end up on one of the red ikea stools its not the most comfy to sit for a while!

Really nice place, I always try and come by when I'm in Kingston. Glad the staff here have helped me on the way to actually enjoying coffee! Particular shout out to the American(?)-accented stafg member who helped me pick out a bean to take home and try for myself just before Christmas

Excellent coffee. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They even gave me a spare umbrella when mine got caught in the door and broke! Highly recommend if you enjoy great coffee.

I have been visiting Beanberry for many years as the coffee is very good. However in recent times, the service has become so rude and arrogant that I won’t be going back. My visit yesterday was amusing in its absurdity. I ordered a large single shot dry cappuccino - an unusual order I know, but it’s how I like my coffee and every other independent coffee shop in the area is happy to make my coffee as I like it. Not Beanberry though. I was told that they don’t do dry foam and cappuccinos come in a small size. I asked whether it would be possible to make a cappuccino in a large cup but with just one shot of coffee. “No” was the answer. “If you want that, then order a latte”. Ok I said but could you make cappuccino style foam, ie a bit thicker. “No, we only do micro foam. So you can have a flat white or a latte”. I pointed out that I was the customer and surely their highly trained barristers knew how to make thicker foam. “They do but you can’t have that. We are an artisan coffee shop and we only make micro foam”. That’s apparently what the owner has told this particularly rude cashier and he wasn’t budging. There was no flexibility and no consideration of delivering customers what they ask for. To be fair he made me a latte for free, which was perfectly nice, but not what I ordered. He had the audacity to tell me on my way out that next time I should order a latte. I gently pointed out that there would not be a next time. This place is so up itself that it’s going to turn off customers. If you like micro foam lattes then you won’t be disappointed with the coffee, but the atmosphere created by the rude and arrogant staff just isn’t worth it. If you’re in Kingston, try Local Hero instead. If you’re in nearby Surbiton try the Press Room. Both do great coffee and are really friendly. And they make your coffee as you ask.

Great place for the coffee lover with a wide range of coffees to enjoy ( I had the drip Peru Olga Calle), and a really chilled atmosphere.

The coffee tasted good... but the staff was unfriendly. It's not rude, but even though the cafe is not busy, they don't provide basic customer service at all. Is this a cafe whose concept is employees with aloof attitude? The employees feel like just coffee machines.....

Did not disappoint! Flat white was good and baked goods light and tasty. Atmosphere of coffee shop very nice.

I had an awful experience at this establishment with a seemingly angry or begrudged cashier. Verbatim I asked him “ Please may I have a Cappuccino” he replied anything else so I stated “if there’s milk in it please may it be either oat milk or soya milk”( due to my dairy intolerance. He rudely said back to me “ Cappuccino’s usually contain milk”, with such a belittling tone, implying my lack of knowledge or understanding of such a basic drink. Then repeatedly asked me “which one” in reference to my milk choice, I had stated either is fine as often I have found certain coffee houses to only carry one, but i can understand the potential frustration of my indecisive answer. Later that day, my stomach began to churn and moan, turns out that I was given dairy milk rather than a lactose free substitute and this impeded the rest of my working day. I always approach service workers with courtesy so I don’t think I am at fault here, I hope that man reflects on his behaviour as it was very inappropriate for work within the food service industry, the coffee wasn’t even good.

The staff are rude and obnoxious I left without my coffee places like that don't deserve your money.

I passed by this cafe and it looked interesting. Beautiful coffee smell when you enter and you see the nice design and the very cheerful staff. I tried the affogato and my wife went with the mocha. They were very nice. Highly recommended

Great coffee. 8am opening time means I can't go as often as I would. 7.30 weekdays would get a few more through the door. Especially with the big new office buildings being built.

The people who run this place are always friendly and welcoming and really know their stuff. Highly recommended. One update to this as of September 2023. Their wifi is extremely patchy. The router often needs a reboot in order to allow you to connect. Not a coffee shops primary purpose I know, but as a lot of people use these places for work etc. it's pretty important to know you can trust the connection.

I visited this cafe after doing a little bit of shopping and it was the right decision! The people behind the bar were really friendly and nice and were happy to help. The homemade brownie I had was delicious and perfectly sized and the general atmosphere was amazing! Would very much recommend.

Quality of coffee is really good & can meet the expectations of very picky & choosy customers in my opinion.

As per other reviews, lovely place with lovely coffee, but there is one member of the team bringing down the reviews. Not sure if he's the manager/owner as the other staff seem to let him get away with his rudeness? It's a shame as he ruined the experience for me.

Love Beanberry! The best coffee in Kingston, together with Local Hero and Fortunella. I wish they still did their ginger flapjack which was amazing! A good variety of pastries and cakes there though! (Iwish they had a ramp of some sort as there’s quite difficult to get inside the cafe with a buggy. Especially when the door is shut. I have actually gone somewhere else a few times when I’ve seen the door closed)

Quite simply the BEST coffee in Kingston. Even their decaf tastes great! The staff are always nice too.

For me, the wild cat flat white was perfect ☕️ My son said the carrot cake and chai latte were more delicious than Starbucks ones. 🥕

A real coffee aficionado's hangout; when I went, there was four different choices of bean to choose from. The drip options, Chemex are all here. I chose the single origin in a cappuccino without chocolate, and it was a delight - perfectly made, and with a really complex but smooth taste. The interior has a modern warehouse vibe to it. This is the best place for coffee in Kingston that I have found so far. Very polite and friendly staff. The only down side is that the view from the window is just a drab concrete shop in a side street. Recommended.

Great coffee, but it needs to be served hot not good enough.

The cappuccino and hot chocolate (husband's drink) were both very good, both in terms of texture and taste. The venue was, however, soulless. Grey walls and doors, coupled with chrome bar stools and staff in a central 'fish bowl' made for a really grim experience. The staff call you when your order is ready. American influence, perhaps? Whatever; a brighter decor, table service and no itchy brain hip hop music would probably see me return. As it was, we were out of there very quickly.

Tuesday, 5th Apr, 1:40pm One of the best cafés I've ever visited. Excellent customer service. Very helpful, natural and welcoming. (Gentleman with long-ish, wavy hair) Outstanding coffee. Received a drink that outweighed my expectations. Texture, temperature and taste were all spot on! The chocolate peanut brownie was phenomenal, too! Decor is a little bland, but the quality of drinks, food and service easily make up for it. . . . . Note to staff/owner: Dark wood flooring and dark grey walls make for a very elegant combination. The place feels a little empty, though. Ever thought of introducing evergreen plants to fill the space and add a little colour to the interior? ;)

One of Kingston's finer coffee houses. Good beans. Good baristas. Cakes and snacks are a little on the light side. The cortado is a fine example of the delightful hipster staple.

I travel long distances for good coffee, after a long walk from west London I discovered this place, they have three varieties of coffee beans, I asked for a smooth one with one sugar, latte was probably one of the best I’ve had. Great little coffee shop for coffee connoisseurs

I visited the Organic Coffee shop yesterday with my 2 year old daughter. We arrived at 14:25 on 20-12-2021. We ordered 2 hot drinks and two toasted sandwiches to sit in. The lady at the front desk was polite and great with the service. There was a gentlemen fixing the coffee machine and seemed to be very angry. When we received our drinks I asked the lady if she could pour our hot chocolate into a take away cup for my daughter so that she does not spill. The gentlemen with the beard that was fixing the coffee machines shouted me for standing there and I explained that I'm waiting for the lady to pour my coffee drink into a takeaway cup. He said I must listen and when I was explaining to him I was waiting for the lady to pour it for me he walked away. We continued to eat our meal and I was upset. He also burnt the toast but I'm not complaining about that. When we left, I told him thank you and I said next time you must be polite to customers and he they started being rude again. he said if I want to review or complain I must do so. There was a staff change and when I asked the new lady at the front till for his name she said No. Absolutely shocking service from that gentlemen with the beard behind the counter. Racist behavior..

Very good but they charge like a wounded buffalo. One Americano, one hot chocolate and two pain au chocolat for £13.40 Having written that down it is so ludicrous that maybe I got mischarged.

Hi, We are regulars in Kingston branch like twice a week but the latest "innovation " is just ridiculous.  Keeping store doors open when is literally dead cold outside is the stupidest thing I ever seen.  I really don't care about your relations with the staff but I do like people working there. They do amazing coffee every time! Working in temperature close to zero how I feel with the water, wet clothes etc.  This is H&S hazard!!! My coffee and tea already cold after 10 minutes apart of that I  am cold and all of the customers as well.  People seating in jackets not even seating, stand drinking. Who ever comes to spend nice time with coffee in the cosy warm environment you are so wrong.  Do not bother.  It won't be nice experience. Your coffee will get cold before you will manage to drink and you will leave this place freezing cold because you thought that it would be nice to have coffee seating.

Centrally located the Beanberry does an excellent chioice of coffees to suiot any taste. Good choice of pastries as well.

Came here because of the positive reviews and the coffee itself was of an excellent standard. But I am thoroughly disappointed in the venue. Very strong smell of bleach as if you are having coffee in a toilet, stained and worn seats, everything just feels tacky and dirty. Please improve your store, your coffee is great!

One of the best flat white in Kingston area!

I came to the coffee shop because of good reviews, I asked the lady what's a popular coffee (since it has names like JavaScript, 8AM blues with no description on the board). I asked for a milky/latte coffee she gave me 8am blues which is an Americano style coffee. This was a treat day so was pretty disappointed. Clearly she didn't understand me, she should have clarified.

Recently moved to Kingston and discovered this absolute gem. Their coffee is the best I've ever had (well, joint with Monmouth - which is quite an achievement!). Markedly better than other coffee places (even premium ones). Also a really nice little cafe to sit in, and the staff are always very friendly.

Lovely host. Lovely pastries.... like really really lovely pastries and they are not your every day/very common /expected pastries. Lovely tasting coffee but mine was warm when served. I like very hot coffee but make do with how hot the coffees are in shops but this coffee was like luke-warm. Not great. But did I mention the pastries....? Really delish pastries.

One of the first “artisan” cafes in Kingston and still is the best - quality coffee selections, inviting and friendly staffs, a visit to Beanberry is never a disappointing experience.

Love the coffee here, probably the best in Kingston. I go daily and would 100% recommend to anyone. It's a bit expensive though. However, the service levels and friendliness of the staff let's Beanberry down in a big way. No smiles, no hellos, just pure misery it seems. I go despite the staff, which highlights how good the coffee is, but if they managed to cheer up just a little bit their customer experience would skyrocket.

Consistently the best coffee in Kingston, hands down.

Poor customer service on a Sunday. Been a few times and unfortunately the product is really good. But not worth the money as a whole experience.

Spent £7 on coffee and a cake. Ate the cake in house then spent 15 mins waiting for the coffee. I had to ask for it and they had clearly forgotten my order. No probs - mistakes happen. Drank the coffee, cleared my crockery to the service desk and asked to use the loo which was ‘out of order’ (so what loo do the staff use then because there is sure as hell only one!) and was directed to the Bentalls Centre top floor. Unacceptable and unprofessional with covid clearly a convenient excuse. If you serve drinks and food you have functioning bathroom facilities. Went next door to Nero who let me use the loo without even buying anything! I wont be returning.

Good tasting coffee, but prepared virtually luke warm, needs to be quite a bit warmer to qualify as a hot drink. Also, we were put off eating anything as a lot of the food is uncovered albeit behind the counter. There were also a few flies around which is off-putting. There were open sugar pots on the window bars where customers sit to drink their coffee; the pots were just below face level, and no doubt the sugar becomes covered in particles of spit from when people are speaking. A quite horrendous thought anytime, let alone with a virus prevalent. We were asked to sign in on entering the shop , which is a positive, but it's a shame the staff aren't as proactive about food hygiene. All in all, the shop needs to significantly improve in certain areas, to justify the premium prices.

The coffee’s the thing here, dark, strong and frothy. And they’ll give you a small glass of complimentary still or sparkling water to go with it. Well it had to be as apart from the odd croissant there was little else available this Friday afternoon. But a comfortable space with some interesting small art pieces on the walls and a large bar area occupying a large swathe in the centre of this cafe.

Super friendly service accompanied by coffee that leaves you wanting more. 💕 They offer a variety of coffees and other drinks, their pastries are fresh and soft, and there is plenty of seating inside. I can't wait to go back! ☺️
