My wife and I popped in at the end of a wet visit to Sherborne. It looks a little sparse inside but is modern, comfortable and totally functional. The guy who served us was friendly and made an excellent latte and mocha. I haven’t enjoyed a latte so much in a while and I went straight back for a second one just before they shut up shop.

One of the best cups of coffee not only in Sherborne but anywhere. I’m hard pressed to think of a better cup of coffee anywhere on my journeys. True coffee aficionados.

This is the place to go if you want a true coffee, created with love and attention, by people who know coffee and who care about what they produce. Would love it to be a little warmer in there sometimes (so wear a jumper in winter), but if you want a coffee that is created correctly (bean roasting to cup), by people who are really friendly and talented, then this is where you should go (and there is a great little independent record shop over the road).

If you appreciate good coffee, don't go anywhere else. The folk obviously care about decent coffee, and it shows in everything they do from how they roast it, to the water they use, to how they serve it. The service is friendly too, and there's a lovely selection of snacks. Easily in my top 3 coffee shops, ever.

Easily the best coffee shop in the area. Each style of drink is delicious every time since Alex and G know their stuff from buying, to roasting and ultimately brewing. Excellent cup of coffee and we’re not regular coffee drinkers but we really enjoyed our lattes. This is obviously a good place for locals, saw people working, and heard guy serving a lady who had recently moved to area, he was telling her due to many of their local customers being involved in various trades she should just ask if she needed any recommendations for builders etc. So much nicer than the high street branded coffee shops.

I have sampled every coffee outlet in the area and nothing comes close to Bean shot, either for the quality of their product or the service received. The dedicated cult following among locals is well-deserved and word is spreading. Definitely worth the trip. The staff will gladly shoo the breeze, or offer recommendations and education if desired. We popped in for a drink, and I was pleased to know that as well as coffee, which my husband said was excellent, they also serve tea and hot chocolate. I asked for hot chocolate, not too strong, and it was delicious. Apparently it's their own, and I really appreciated the fact that it wasn't unappetisingly sweet; it was just lovely and chocolatey. We also decided to indulge in a 'malteaser' tray-bake style treat - we shared, it would have been too much for one, and really enjoyed it.

Follow the main street, down the hill and just after you have given up hope of finding it, Beanshot appears like a mirage in a desert of fake rosy cheeked locally run cafes and corporate bland holes. The service is perfect, the coffee is deee-licious...

Just wanted to say how nice the coffee was. The service was very quick and very friendly. I hadn’t been to Sherborne before and the chap behind the counter helped me out with some local town information. The cafe was a pleasant place to sit.

Finding great coffee is not easy. That’s because many cafes are tea shops that serve coffee incidentally. This is a real coffee place with a good quality coffee and baristas that know what they are doing.

To be honest, it is next to impossible to find a good strong delicious coffee in England. Bean Shot hits the spot however. Deep, rich flavoursome coffee in a modern cafe, served by guys who know their stuff and who engage with their customers. I would go every day I was in the beautiful town of Sherborne.

This coffee shop has now become one of our highlights of Sherborne. Their coffee is the best around and I’ve only been to a handful of places in London that compare.

It was the delicious smell of coffee that drew us into this Cafe and the brew was as good as the aroma. Interesting chat about the origins of their coffees with the owner.

After a busy day of book-buying we needed a coffee and found Bean Shot Coffee. Quirky with an odd sort of seating arrangements but we liked the sofas! I know the coffee is "specialist" but can't say I really enjoyed mine - rather too nutty for my taste. Also, sorry, but I like sugar (ideally sugar lumps) in my coffee not liquid sweetener. The cakes were delicious and the waitress very friendly and enthusiastic about the venue. In response to the owner: My review was, as are everyone else's reviews, my own personal comments. It wasn't that the coffee needed "fixing". rather that it wasn't to my taste. In fact I drank most of it as I needed a coffee. I'm not sure which blend I had but, to be honest I'm not sure I'd have known which blend to order anyway. As for the sugar - I'm afraid it didn't taste like sugar to me. I prefer brown sugar lumps served using a set of tongs, from a small, sealable, jar which, I find, manages the "hygiene" problem rather well. I'm sorry you felt the need to instruct me on how I should have dealt with the fact that the coffee wasn't to my taste.

Knowledgeable staff, cool atmosphere and excellent coffee. House espresso is fantastic; bold and chocolatey with delicious fruity notes. Freshly roasted beans available to buy and staff happy to grind them for you if required. Easily the best coffee in the area.

I never fail to be impressed by the quality. Love the slightly quirky interior - makes a pleasant change from chain cafes. The cappuccino is excellent!

There are lots and lots of artisan coffee bars popping up around and in rural locations nowadays. They all look the part (roughcut wooden panelling, copper pipe lamps and sackcloth upholstered pillows etc.) but rarely is the bean roasting or machinery any better than that found in your huge coffee chain. It is clear that Bean Shot not only have a great roast but they have a brilliant espresso machine, too. I loved my long black coffee (bean: The Brue) with milk so much I had a second, but I tried another bean which didn't go with the milk so well. My advice: ask the barista if the bean your coffee will be made with is going to taste nice with milk or without/as a cappucino/flat white etc. Stop being so British about it and just ask! You will get a much better coffee and you won't feel like you've wasted your money. If Bean Shot are worth their salt they'll advise you well.

Very disappointed in my cuppacino. For a whopping £2.70 (top end London price) I got a small cup that was totally bland. For an artisanal toastery it would appear they don’t taste their product. Wish I’d gone to Costa.

Coffee (latte) was fine, could have been a touch hotter. London prices though, £3 for a brownie?, and tool-cool atmos. Staff very pleasant but the seating setup is not for me. Took my coffee away.

If after a little shopping and sightseeing you fancy a coffee or tea, walk to the bottom of the high street there you will find a little treasure of a cafe.

This little cafe is marmite - you’ll love it or hate it. I thought it excellent and so was the coffee (La Bella on the day I was there). The honey and parsnip cake was delicious. The seating is very relaxed and won’t suit everyone. There’s no WiFi. They do takeaway. It’s worth a try at the bottom of Cheap Street.

I recently came here with my 10 year old daughter, she had a hot chocolate and cake and I had the superb Moi Moi coffee ( I think it was called that). This place does great coffee and my little girl loved the hot chocolate, it is a bit more pricey than other coffee shops in town, but worth a visit, the staff are great, they know their beans!
