It's great to see a small local business open and seemingly doing well during these troubled times. However.....four of us bought coffees here a couple of weekends ago on a lovely sunny spring day. Unfortunately similar to many coffee shops they were luke warm which spoiled our enjoyment as we were looking forward to them during our long walk beforehand. If you want a proper hot tasty coffee in Ayr you can do no better than Pandora and Cafe 51.

A lovely homely cafe... had a drink each and an apple and a rhubarb slice topped off with milk ice cream. Lovely filler for us both.

The worst place ever been. Last month we popped into the tea room, was expecting a wee pleasant relax and a brunch; however, the experience nearly destroyed our confidence on small tea/coffee shop. The food was not fresh at all with horrible taste. It even made our child sick immediately after the brunch. I felt very sorry, started cleaning with my own tissue, and apologised to the waitress, who showed a cold face all the time. Then she gave me a bottle of cleaning spray and a bunch of tissue, and left with a word or face… I by myself, ended up cleaning the table, the floor, and the high chair thoroughly, and made them even cleaner then when we arrived. I still said sorry to the waitress, but she still had no response… This is the worst customer service I have ever met… Will not return and will not recommend anyone to go. Cannot believe it exists besides the beach, such a convenient and important place for visitors. In particular, the unfresh food is very worrying.

I regularly come in here for coffee, ice cream or soup and toastie (depending on the season!) The owners are always very friendly so I can't understand some of the other reviews. Cream of mushroom soup or cream of broccoli are my favourites and the tablet ice cream in the summer.

Great local cafe. Coffee and scones always good and just the ticket after walking the dog on the beach. Staff friendly and helpful. Always very clean and tidy.

Would not recommend. Unwelcoming environment and overpriced food - we would expect decent quality at £4 per toastie but ingredients felt cheap. Food almost thrown at us and was not as described on the menu e.g toasties came with nothing whereas the menu stated with salad and crisps. Poor experience overall and will not return.

I'm reading all the negative reviews on this site and I'm totally confused... is this the same place I visit regularly...? Hubby and I often pop in for lunch (driving down from Glasgow) and we think is great value for money at around a fiver for soup and a sandwich. The soup (usually a choice of two) is freshly home made, the sandwiches come in a variety of different breads and lots of fillings to choose from. If you fancy a toasty on a colder day, that's available in the deal too. What more could you ask for after a brisk walk along 'the front'...? I have specific dietary needs and I have been accommodated every single time I have been here with not one single complaint from the staff. Someone commented that the furniture wasn't comfortable... how long were you hoping to sit down..? The whole afternoon...? Small places like this don't need customers to sit for hours nursing one cup of coffee... Furnishings are light and trendy with a 'sea side' cafe feel to it - which is exactly what it says on the tin...! One word of caution - thanks to the council, the toilets at the back of the block are closed during the winter, and it appears most of the summer, and I can totally understand why the staff get totally hacked off with people asking to use the toilet when they aren't customers.... Don't moan at the staff - moan at the council for closing the public toilets. Or better still sit down order yourself some lovely lunch and then use the toilet.

Stopped in here to ask for a plastic fork for our food that my husband had bought for us from here earlier and as soon as I step foot in this place all the staff were not welcoming or friendly at all. It was like they were avoiding talking to me.. Finally an elderly dark haired woman asked if she could help (in a begrudgingly kind of way, almost like a what do you want kind of attitude) and when I asked if they had a plastic fork, she turned around and said a sharp, "no sorry" I looked at a young girl working behind the counter who looked a little shocked (it's a cafe on a beach, I really doubt they don't have plastic cutlery) so I just left without saying anything. I'll never step foot in that place again & I'm making sure to tell everyone I know, friends & family visiting, to not buy a single thing from there. It was overpriced anyway and not the greatest food. Plus there's a news agents behind it that have ice cream and snacks or we will simply bring our own food or go to a different part of the beach next time. Being kind and offering decent customer service isn't that hard & this lady was just plain unpleasant. She shouldn't be working with people if she has that much of a nasty attitude.

I liked this cafe, good pot of tea and some fruit cake, both very nice after our walk along the promenade. The service was ok , and we were served quite quickly. On a decent or even a cold windy day this is a good pitstop. The prices for a cafe in what is relatively isolated position were to my mind reasonable. The cafe was busy with a quite good atmosphere. They had a good selection on the menu for lunch too. As I said I liked this cafe try it I suspect you'll like it too.

We've been to this cafe today, food was not nice at all and prices high. When asking for the bill, they did not want to give us a written bill, after insisting they just provided a figure with no detail. It was wrong, we complained about it and suddenly, it turned out that we had to pay for tap water (although previously mentioned we did not have to), tap water was £2 according to them, even more expensive than a bottle of mineral water on the menu!!! Even taking into account these £2, the price was wrong, they charged us 70 pence more. Just because we were on holidays, we did not want to keep arguing... A place where they trying to take advantage of foreign visitors. Certainly, a cafe to be avoided.

We sat outside and enjoyed the views of Arran and Ayr with sand dunes and the beach very nearby. The cafe has its own parking and lies at the end of the long promenade that runs down from the town centre area. The cafe is clean, fresh and airy with tablecloths and waitress service. The toilets let the place down with attempts to look 'good' but the hot tap practically came off and it's looks are a thin veneer.

I visited this cafe and had two sandwiches, tea and cake. The sandwiches were made out of cheap cheap white bread and plastic style cheese and priced at almost £4! But the cake was the real show stopper! Because it was by the second bite that I realised that the underside of the cake had green mould! Yuk! The cake was very dry and tasted like it had been sitting around for some time. As i left I noticed there was a whole tray of cakes on display that were also covered in powdery green mould! Double yuk! I won't be returning!

This is a lovely place to drop in for a coffee, after a walk along the prom at Ayr. The home baking is wonderful, especially the fruit cake slice. Great views of Arran and the Firth of Clyde.

This is a great, friendly, cafe situated at the beach car park. The staff are great and they supply good home style baking with the coffees. The vanilla latte coffee is very good. The outlook from the cafe is wonderful on a nice day, looking over the sea towards Arran. The biggest problem is that the cafe does not have a sign outside saying "beaches cafe", but you will find it situated directly below the Ayr India restaurant which is upstairs.

Very disappointing! We have always stopped here for a takeaway lunch to have on the boat home to Belfast. The food was always amazing. However, today we got a tuna sandwich which was so wet it was a mess. We also had a ham and cheese wrap. The cheese had obviously been defrosted and in doing so it had melted....not pleasant in a wrap. Unfortunately, we won't be back

Drove to Dobbie's for lunch at 1pm today. The roll and sandwich counter was busy as usual, but the hot food counter was empty, I liked the look of the cauliflour cheese, a waited to be served, and waited, and waited. To my left people were being served, to my right ( coffee point) people we being served, i made a point of looking like I would like to be served, i noticed a staff member or possibly the cafe boss made a great job of ignoring me as she wandered backward and forth several times. Eventually I gave up, I shan't be going to Debbie's Ayr any more.

Had lunch here on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. Sits on a busy corner of the main street but once inside it opens into a bar area and good restaurant area and garden overlooking the river( and boatyard). Menu has a good selection of classic pub food. Took a little time for our meal to arrive but as is was freshly made this was not a problem. The boatyard burger was one of the best burgers I have had in years and my wife was delighted with the chicken pie with mash and fresh veg. The chef knows how to cook!! If you are in Girvan this place is worth a visit for the food and the view.
