Beach house Cafe and Bar in Eastbourne

We were there and ignored by the skinny and cheeky waitress. We waited for an approach to us despite the fact that she had been watching us for 20 minutes and had no intention of picking up the order. I will add that there were not too many customers. Her impertinence shocked some of the customers next to our table. We will never recommend this place and I advise the owner to find a new waitress

The cafe was busy on the Sunday we were walking past so decided to stop and have a drink. We had two caramel lattes which were reasonably price and really good. Will definitely be back if walking past again. The staff are jolly and friendly.

Stopped here on beach walk for tea coffee and cake. Gentlemen serving could not have been more helpful and jolly. Drinks and cake tasty. Clean toilet on site. A must stop along your beach walk.

Bonita vista desde la terraza en la playa en una tarde muy cálida y soleada, muy agradable. Buen café precios razonables vistas preciosas. Nombre de la cafetería creo que es West Rocks Beach Club ahora!

Fantastic coffee again. We have been coming here for several years and always had great coffee. Excellent beach views without having to sit on the pebbles!

We have visited this beachfront cafe and bar a few times for an early evening drink as it’s a lovely location. Sadly on our last two visits the attitude of staff has been really poor and we are unlikely to visit again. On our previous visit we’d arrived about five. I queued up while others were being served but when it got to me, the waiter said they were now closing for a private function. I pointed out that we had come there specially and just wanted a quick drink and there were lots of people who had obviously only just started their drinks (there was no one behind me) but he just shrugged and laughed. I was not happy. We decided when we were down today to give them another chance as maybe it was just an unfortunate one off. I asked for two small bottles of Prosecco. I was told they only had pink. I asked if it was still dry. I was told yes, just the same as the normal but rose. When we tasted it was extremely sweet. We thought about taking it back and asking for our money back but decided we didn’t want to spoil the afternoon. But I decided just to go and tell them at the end so others didn’t have the same experience. Once again the waiter seemed to think this was a huge joke. I said that he had told us that it was dry and he said that he didn’t drink prosecco so he didn’t know and laughed all the more heartily. This is such a shame as we really thought we had found a gem because of the location but don’t think we will want to risk another disappointing visit.

Café latte el viernes pasado, se veía bonito, sabía bien pero estaba muy tibio. Chap era amable, así que no me quejé. El sábado fue otra vez con mi hijo y pidió que la leche fuera agradable y caliente. La sirvienta sirvió un bufido y miró hacia el techo; no le dijo nada al tipo que hacía el café, sino otro café con leche casi frío.Entonces para el tipo que trabaja allí: 1) Obtener paseo de la temperamental. 2) Pasar unos segundos calentando la leche para el café con leche.

We visited as a foursome on a Sunday morning and was greeted and seated immediately The breakfast menus had a good amount of choice and we all chose something different I had a bagel and eggs and it was pretty much perfect, my daughter had pancakes and bacon and again, perfect, I wish I could make pancakes like that !My friends two year old had a kids breakfast, like a full English which was really big for a child his age but tasted great, I was lucky enough to finish it for him We all had a smoothie which was very tasty but lumpy with seeds and pips and my daughter couldn’t drink it, the idea of a smoothie is it being smooth, just be prepared if you have a fussy child The visit was in February and surprisingly sunny, so the view out to the sea was special.I really enjoyed the food, the service and the food and it was also well priced

We only stopped here for an ice-cream but the young lady who served us was polite and friendly! The ice-cream was delicious!

Very good weather so went to beach front had a drink and a sandwich service was good and veiws very relaxing

Visited for a coffee and food recently. Whilst some of the cakes were covered there were also plates of pizzas, biscuits and pastries without any form of covering. Having watched a fly crawl all over a pizza and some biscuits I let the waitress know - she couldn't have been less interested if she'd tried and made no effort to remove the possibly contaminated food. Her attitude was and I quote "it's not my business". I'd suggest anyone eating here should make it their business to either avoid this place altogether and visit one of the cafes further along where food is covered or only eat items cellophane wrapped! Such a shame as it's in a lovely position and the actual food looks good.

A lovely location I wanted to have more than a cuppa however the buns doughnuts etc. looked lovely but they were not covered and frankly I was not sure. The service was good.

Stopped once on our way up the beach, sat under and umbrella and ate a doughnut. Stopped again on our way back and had a good double espresso. Both ladies working we friendly and helpful. He just had Procecco on both visits 😏

Lovely little place on sea front. We had a lovely Hot Chocolate with all the trimmings. Highly recommend to all. xxx

Located right on the beach with some decking, tables and chairs so you can sit in the sun and enjoy a drink. Pretty good coffee although their cold drinks weren't that cold!

Stopped for a drink in the sun. I paid for my order and stood at the end of the counter to wait for my drinks. The stench coming from the toilets was vile. The lady serving kept scratching a rash on her chest and shortly after serving me was sat outside smoking a cigarette. It's a shame as the cakes inside looked lovely but they were all uncovered and I wouldn't buy something where the servers hands obviously aren't clean.

This is in a good position and has potential but needs to improve.There were two people serving and they were polite and friendly.We arrived soon after 1pm & I fancied a soup to warm me up but was told there wasn't any as they'd run out - a bit surprising.So settled for a sausage roll, which was on display and looked nice. Asked if they had warm ones and they said they'd warm it up.Unfortunately it was overdone in the microwave and we got pappy, far too hot, sausage rolls. They were very soft and a bit tough and did not taste at all nice.Had one diet coke with it and for two sausage rolls was charged £8.10!!!!!There are no prices displayed for anything except coffees, which start at £2.50, so I think prices should be displayed but I guess this place is aiming at getting people in and then surprising them with high prices.The loo was clean but the hand drier didn't work.

Great quaint atmosphere, lovely drinks and a wonder backdrop, perfect for a Sunday walk on the beach!

As we walked along the seafront, we needed to have some lunch and spotted this place. Has a nice decking area onto the beach which was lovely and we were lucky to have some sunshine. Staff pleasant, food and drink was expensive but we did buy quite a bit, so perhaps we shouldn't be so greedy! Could fault the food. The bacon baguettes were lovely, the bread was soft and warm. Delicious!

We were pleased to find this cafe whilst walking the dog. It had a lovely array of fresh looking snacks and a clearly experienced barista who produced a wonderful latte! Brilliant!

We had some baguettes and doughnuts and pasties from here,whilst we were relaxing on the beach,the staff are polite and the prices good,the food was fresh and tasty,baguettes are made to order and the doughnuts are so light and yummy.We highly recommend this Cafe for some yummy food and great service.

Great informal bar on the beach. Self service but friendly staff. Great spot to have a beer as the sun sets. No need to buy food as another reviewer noted. Could have stayed longer but needed to head back to London.

Enjoyed an excellent bottle of Beachhouse label Sauvignon Blanc . The setting is superb with tables on decking overlooking the beach. The owner was very pleasant and we had a nice conversation with him. Unfortunately I left my handbag in the toilet which contained my purse with driving licence and personal items.This was posted to me by the owner within a week, I can't thank them enough.Couple from Merseyside

We visited Eastbourne last week on a lovely hot morning and were delighted to find this super Mediterranean style cafe-bar - the rose wine was delicious, the cappuccino was the best we had tasted in a long while and the service was excellent. The food looked great but we did not have time to stay longer.Well done !

Friendly service, fabulous views, a lovely well kept pint of Peroni & the best coffee I've had in Eastbourne. Try the pear cider too, a lovely summer drink. I visit every time I'm in town with my family.

If you want to be ignored by all the staff whilst waiting to be served, even when no other customers are present, this is the place to go. So unbelievably rude. Do not deserve any business. FIND AN ALTERNATIVE. Plenty to choose from.

The guy with the beard always has a smile on his face and nothing is to much trouble.Love relaxing sitting looking at the sea enjoying a beer or coffee.Better than the cafe a bit further on who serves coffee in a plastic cup, what's all that about.Keep up the good work.A happy customer

We've tried this place twice recently and other than position, it never delivers. On both occasions they had no draft beer despite being only midday. So having to buy very expensive bottled beers, they had no clean glasses. They seem to get by by doing an absolute minimum and the level cleanliness reflects this. Never again, there are nicer places a few metres along the front.

Found this place when walking along the seafront. The queing system was a bit unusual, but not too long a wait. Excellent beer here, Moretti, I believe. We were required to buy food , ( not just drinks only served,), but we only had to buy a packet of chips to comply. Very nice place.

very nice coffee, great selection of teas and alcohol. homemade sausage rolls cakes and slices I have been here many times and always found the staff very friendly and helpful even when you can see they are busy.

Lovely setting being able to have coffee on the beach, staff were friendly just really disappointed that the hot drinks were cold and behind the counter wasn't very clean.

we had a fantastic time this week on our visit again to eastbournehighly recommend the beach house. I went with my little dog it was about 8.30am lovely day and went down to the cafe found it was very clean and a very pleasant attitude as well as a lovely choice of cakes its in an ideal location for us.

A good place to sit and watch the Eastbourne Airshow. It is very central it it. We did not have food but enjoyed a cold lager. It would also be a nice spot to go and sit on a sunny day overlooking the beach. It is also close to the pier.

We arrived around 9.30. Tables were busy but we found one free to sit and enjoy our coffee in the morning Sunday sun. Service was very quick and pleasant, albeit with half a smile (not bad just not particularly friendly). Americano was served with a little froth - perfectSoy cappuccino was served with lots of heavy froth - perfectAlmond and a plain croissant - very big and fresh.Tables cleaned quickly from what we could see. Great spot, great coffee - can't go wrong.

Remember when we first arrived and used to visit and the elderly gentleman sat outside,he would be proud as popped intoday and had coffee and scone,as a food lover would give the scone 10/10,0nly two staff need more,those two guys need a pay rise!they worked so hard and their customer service was excellent.

It's a challenge to find a restaurant we like in Eastbourne and we were delighted when we discovered the Beach House. Light, airy interior, great waiting staff and a good menu offering a selection of good dishes. I had the smoked haddock chowder which is served with a poached egg and it was excellent. The location is also charming, as it is on the promenade and sea, and ideally situated for a stroll after lunch- or a few more drinks on the outside patio!

Wonderful cafe, fantastic atmosphere. We stumbled across the beach house on a long walk along the sea front. Coffee was delicious, children had really nice home made smoothies, pastries freshly baked and still warm. I would recommend this cafe to anyone, I am definitely coming back again.Thank You to The Beach House.

Sooooooo slow we literally queued for half an hour just for coffee heaven forbid how long we would've waited if we ordered food. Just 1 person serving when it's a busy and sunny day is ridiculous. When someone asked him r u on ure own he said I think so not sure if he was being sarcastic or what. We came to eastbourne for a weekend so we thought we have a nice coffee on the beach. Big mistake a mistake we won't be making again. When we come back to eastbourne we definately won't be coming to the beachhouse cafe. So many people got up and left. Cause fed up with the long wait. U obviously don't want customers.

Food looked good and nice location but having waited over an hour gave up and asked for money back. Having asked twice when we were to be served last straw was being told, sorry by mistake had given our order to another table! Noticed others were also complaining at long wait, yet when we sat down were not busy, although began to fill up. Will not be returning.

We stopped here for a quick lunch and were pleasantly surprised! Aside from the sweeping seagulls, it was an excellent place to sit - right on the beach. The food was good too and fairly reasonable. A nice place to go in sunny weather!

I came down to london over airborne last year and decided to visit the beach house as I had been told that the food down there was impeccable, and it didn't disappoint me at all. I ordered an Italian flat bread and a lemon chicken meze, and it was by far one of the best meals I have ever had out, the chicken was perfectly cooked and the marinade was gorgeous, the flat bread was loaded with mozzarella, tomatoes and this splendid dressing. The staff were great and full of motivation and in particular the chef was full of enthusiasm and even came out to make sure we were enjoying his food. However, a few weekends ago I came back down to eastbourne and decided to visit the beach house again, but it had completely changed, the bubbly atmosphere had gone and in its place were miserable looking staff who were not dressed smart and used foul language. As I was standing in the queue to order some food, the menu was brought in as apparently they 'couldn't cope with the amount of people' although there was only 5 people in the queue and only a few groups of people sitting out the front, so I really don't know what has happened. This exceptional little cafe with extremely polite staff and wonderful food has changed into a shabby establishment that is no longer worth going to. I really hope that the issue will be resolved and things will be back to how they were last summer as this cafe has such good potential.

Lovely setting, but got fed up keep arriving to find it's shut, or there's no food or even no wine on occasions.The food is by far the best in comparison to the other cafes along the promenade, but you have to take a chance it'll be open??The staff are friendly, but there's never enough of them!!Wine never cold enough, and seats very hard and uncomfortable (need some cushion on them) - and parasols would be nice in summer!Apart from that, do really enjoy going there, and hope it improves for this summer!

My family and I are regulars of the Beach House and have been since day 1. We have always been great fans of both the idyllic setting and the food, but just recently we have been a few times and have been a little disappointed with the quality of the food. It's not that it's never good, it just feels that they have got a bit sloppy and inconsistent so it can be disappointing. Their cakes are not home made which is a real shame as well as the bought in ones they serve are pappy and over sweet. It is such a shame as we used to be weekly visitors but have been going elsewhere lately because of the above. Don't just rely on your view, Beach House, please! We want to come back and support you, just need to know there'll be a change.

After a gentle stroll toward the end of Eastbourne seafront going towards beachy head you will reach a very welcome oasis-the Beach House Cafe. The Cafe can also be reached from the road above, but be warned it is a steep walk back to the top.

When out walking we have become regulars at this little cafe. They do a lovely filter coffee and hot chocolate and nice cake. When we first starting having coffee here they did not do food however they have started doing a basic menu with foods such as sausage rolls quiche sandwiches and salad. This is a very small coffee shop. It only tends to open when the sun is out and shuts quite early unlike the one further on which stays open till six seven o'clock at night.However we return the other day half way through our usual walk, Tables had not been cleared away, they was seagulls pecking at the remainders while a few people were having their drink. Also the waiter/coffee shop worker was sitting out the front having a smoke and on his phone. As I walked in he said I wont keep you a minute which is fine. He was not the usual staff who are there who are usually very friendly and keep it very clean and tidy. The gentleman was wearing a very dirty shirt and had very little customer service. I was very disapointed. And will no longer be returning, we will however go to the one a short walk, where there are two very friendly polite young ladies that are happy to serve whether it is raining or the sun is shinning.

Had been for a walk along the seafront and stopped for a coffee at the Beach House which has a large decked area with seating on the beach. For the first time this year we were able to sit outside and enjoy a sunny day with a good coffee and great view of the sea. Will be a lovely place to return to in the summer and enjoy a Pimms in the sun.

Always a delightful place to stop off for a coffee and cake with amazing views, excellent service and a warm friendly atmosphere. The staff are always cheerful ,even in the gales and wild weather. I love the relaxed atmosphere and the New England colour scheme which helps to make you feel at home and yet out for a little treat at the same time. A difficult place to ignore as you walk by, you feel compelied to pop in an chill!
