Baytree in Pembrokeshire

We dined at the baytree as a large table for Sunday dinner. This place was a lovely experience with excellent service. The food served was beautiful, so much food and at a great quality. Best Sunday dinner in Tenby!!

The location styling and ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic, it’s just a shame the food did not meet the same standards We skipped starters and went straight to the main menu. We had “Oceans Muscles” & “Summerberry Fillet Steak”. The muscles were ok, a good sized portion that were tasty and neatly delivered. The sauce was nice albeit a little thick. The menu advertised the dish would come with “chunky chips & bread for Dunking,” the bread was forgotten. A side of vegetables ordered alongside this dish were also forgotten. The Summeryberry Fillet Steak is one of the more expensive items on the menu. It was really disappointing and not worth the £36.95. The meat itself was ok, a good size and well cooked. The garnish looked really sad and wilted, the Brie that is served on top of the steak was thin & bland, but worst of all was the summer fruits. They looked, felt and tasted like they had just been defrosted and placed around the plate to make it look fancy and colourful. It made the whole dish taste really sharp, the ingredients just didn’t compliment one another. Ordered alongside this was the Baytrees “famous” garlic cheesy new potato’s. Microwaved garlic butter and melted cheese stuck under a grill for a minute or two? Not sure how, but again it was really watery. Overall we were so disappointed we skipped desert, settled up having had to challenge the missing items on the bill and left. It’s not somewhere we would go back to.

We have an amazing dinner night with friends. The food is really tasty. I ordered ocean's mussels and the size was huge! The dish was bigger than my face, and with bread and chips. One of our friend has full allergen request, they also could provided a suitable dish for her, brilliant. Waitress Vanessa was very friendly, made our orders quickly and remembered what we needs. She kept attention on our table and patiently waited our friend to count each one correct amont on the bill. Recommend to someone who wish have a great dining time.

me and my sister visited here Saturday night for a meal and all i can say the ambiance was amazing, the food was outstanding and the service we were getting was the best we’ve had, will definitely be coming back and 100% recommend! thank you.

Very average and quite expensive. We were underwhelmed by our choices (fish pie and spicy bean burger) although the chips were good. The bean burger looked like it came from the freezer section of a supermarket and came with gloopy guacamole, definitely not homemade, a squeeze of BBQ(?) sauce and a tiny pot of coleslaw. £16.95 felt way too pricey. I’m afraid we wouldn’t recommend. Staff were friendly and the service was good though, which was why I’ve given 3 stars not 2.

I can’t see how anyone can give this place a 4 or 5 star review. I’m struggling to give it 2. Soup and Cauliflower Wings for starters, expensive and underwhelming. Ordered hake for mains (a coated fillet served with veg and we upgraded to creamy garlic potatoes). Hake fillet arrived, in the middle of a large plate with no garnish, just the fish - it looked awful. Veg was a small pot of over-cooked carrots, baby sweet corn and loads of red pepper - it looked and tasted like the frozen medley stuff! The ‘speciality creamy garlic potatoes’ were simply a garlicky sauce over new potatoes that should have been included (3 quid extra for a dose of sauce). The garlicky sauce actually saved the fish - it would otherwise have been extremely dry. Service was OK (although the next table got their mains before the starters!). But…… way, way overpriced and very mediocre.

The restaurant doesn’t take bookings for its lunch menu. We called in mid afternoon for lunch. Service was friendly. We didn’t have one but noticed dogs were welcome. Food was very tasty & on a par with other establishments for price. We heard them say they don’t serve food on the outside tables because of birds. Would recommend.

After reading the Trip Advisor reports I booked a table for dinner. Had the selection board to start which was good then the seafood laguini which was excellent with lots of choice seafood and a giant prawn. Very enjoyable.

We initially sat out the front, but when trying to order food they advise they don't serve found outside as the seagulls can be aggressive. We found a table inside as the rear courtyard was full. However, just as we sat down they advised there was a table outside in the courtyard. As we had a dog, we preferred that option. The staff were very friendly and we ordered some drinks and when they arrived we ordered our food a goat cheese panini, and a fish finger sandwich. The food was good, but all the time were were eating other customers had left, but their tables were not cleared quickly and there were 2 seagulls sat on the wall making a racket. Another seagull ventured down into the courtyard and was eating leftover food. Overall, the staff were nice, the food was good, but the seagulls were annoying.

Our food was outstanding. Wonderful service, nothing was too much trouble. Also a great atmosphere with a wonderful singer who really impressed. Would recommend a visit but don't forget to book as it really is a gem of a place 👌😋

Greeted at the door and told it was dog friendly. Had to wait 5 minutes for a table to be cleared. Seated in a lovely spot. No starters tonight, ready for the main! Jo went with Salmon and King Prawns, her verdict delicious. I went for the surf and turf, medium on the steak and it came medium but in hindsight I should have gone medium rare. Steak was delicious, huge prawns and a good portion, lovely side dish of veg, tasted steamed. Chips came in a side dish, described as triple cooked, but I’m not sure! Pint of Madri, and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, bill came in just over £90, no service charge added. Tip left. Definitely recommend. Birres guide out of 20 (20 is near on impossible) is 15/20.

Parents had the steak special and were very happy with it. My lamb shank was nicely done. Drinks were great. Overall atmosphere was really nice and the service was spectacular.

Four of us had a very tasty meal here this evening, 2 had steak and 2 had mussels. There were no complaints about the standard of the meals which were excellent. All the staff were both professional and friendly, giving an excellent and prompt service. It was a very relaxed atmosphere with live music. The young lady accompanied herself on the guitar and mainly sang Norah Jones and Eva Cassidy songs. She was excellent. Beautiful voice. Thank you to all the staff who contributed to a lovely, unforgettable evening.

Awful meal !! Obviously new owners who have come from a pub , as its turned to cheap pub grub food , with the back drop of a restaurant. We had 2 8oz steaks , which looked like 2 thick peices of bacon , and so badly cooked and tastless , you can buy better sirloin in aldi . Frozen chips , old wrinkley potatoes from earlier on in the day no doubt , a sad bit of salad garnish on the side , also a thimble pot size of peppercorn sauce for £4 . I'm local and will not be returning or ever recommending .

We Called in late on the off chance for a table of 2 around 8:30pm on a busy Saturday and they kindly found us a dog friendly table. This restaurant is right in the centre of town. The menu included good options and we went for 16oz rump steak which was delicious and my girlfriend has Bass fillet which was a good portion size and very tasty. The atmosphere was good with live music of a gent on the guitar and singing but not overly loud to allow to hear each other over the table. The night happened to be the landladies last night following 29 years in charge which she told us of her happy times and history with the Baytree which was lovely, she even brought us a glass of wine each on the house which was a sweet touch. We wish her all the best with her first grandchild. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch last week. The vegetarian nut roast was probably the best we've ever had. Loads of veg and great service. Definitely recommend 👌

What a lovely place to eat. We were early bird specials, one of many friendly staff showed us to our table in the empty restaurant (they had just opened), I took a look at the menu and our drinks came, when I looked over my shoulder the place was packed. All 6 of us enjoyed our meals and the service was top notch, would recommend.

Had a tough time finding a place to dine as we didn’t have reservations. The steak dinner for two tempted us to try the Baytree. We don’t often eat meat and we never order steak but it came medium rare just as we preferred. The salad was nothing special and we would’ve preferred mash potatoes to chunky fries but the meal was okay.

Location is on the main street (Tudor Square) across the road from Peacocks store. Very friendly staff, polite and helpful. Large portions that are tasty. Nice Decor and lighting. Fast Service. Prices and portions are reasonable to good.

Huge portion of fish (cod) and chips. Really thick crispy chips. Thick beer batter. Sauces on demand. Quick service on a weekday lunchtime. Nice interior. Highly recommended. A bit pricier than other places, which I think is to be expected.

We had the soup, the hake and the salmon and it was absolutely delicious. I have rarely had such beautifully cooked fish.

Absolutely faultless We were greeted on arrival and taken to our table in the window with a candle burning happily. Water was brought to our table without asking for it which I always like. We ordered the Loire Valley Muscadet to go with our meal and it was delicious. The mussels were large, bountiful and delicious. The hake was absolute perfection. Great service, lovely atmosphere, perfect food and good portions too. We left feeling full, happy and utterly content. Great value too.

Tried out the Bay tree Tenby recently and I ordered the chicken and pesto panini which was very delicious. A very cute spot to eat that’s in the centre of Tenby, delicious food, good atmosphere and lovely staff who were very friendly!

Just a really good night out. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Small menu but everything we had was top quality and perfectly cooked. My partner's steak was prepared just how she likes it and you could tell it was quality beef. One tip, order the garlic potatoes, they are definitely worth the extra.

Very expensive for below average food and small portions. Sirloin steak very tough and chewy. It was sat on a small pile of onions and about 5 thin sliced mushrooms. Chips were very thick and floury. Too dry to swallow. One massive undercooked beef tomato. Paid £4-00 for a peppercorn sauce which came in a tiny milk jug. My partner had the mussels which tasted nice but nothing special. For a £60 bill just wasn’t worth it. The staff were attentive and friendly mind. There are better places to spend your money.

After coming in absolutely soaked from the rain, we were made to feel welcome. A fab restaurant, with lovely food and great staff. With the added bonus of a singer. A special thank you for the loan of the glasses for my husband to see the menu and a hair bobble to make myself look some kind of presentable. A lovely evening.

Visited here with family on Easter Sunday. The roasts were delicious with generous portions and variety of veg including creamy leeks and red cabbage, swede mash on top of all the trimmings. Vegan option was the nutroast which was really nice and full of flavour. There were also multiple vegan options for pudding. We all managed to have a dessert including the brownie, waffle, chocolate tart, cheesecake and pavlova which were all delicious. Couldn’t fault the staff, they were attentive and friendly. Would 100% recommend and will probably be back myself!

One of our favourite restaurants in Tenby & as ever - never disappoints! Large shell on Prawns were fantastic to start & lamb fillet main was absolutely delicious! Probably one of the nicest I’ve ever had. Fab desserts & lovely wine list. Excellent friendly & efficient service. Would thoroughly recommend. Will be back soon!

Wow, one of the finest Sunday Dinners I have ever had. This is not your usual Sunday Roast by any standard. I can see why it's one of the most top rated restaurants in Tenby.

We have eaten here two days in a row, and on both occasions the food and service have been great! We had fish & chips, sandwiches, panini, garlic bread, halloumi and they were all delicious. Service was always with a smile, a very friendly team indeed. We’ll definitely come back!

Absolutely lovely restaurant. The staff were super attentive and really great in regards to allergies. The bruschetta starter was the best bruschetta I’ve ever had! We especially appreciated the live singer on Saturday evening. Such a great experience overall.

We arrived very early evening. Our family group aged from 84to 6years . The service we received was excellent.Each individual need was attended to . The food was excellent. The fish curry one of the best I’ve ever eaten.

Absolutely beautiful Sunday lunch today for Mothers Day. We hadn’t booked and arrived at perhaps the end of lunch service but they managed to fit us in. We were served promptly and with such kindness. The food was so delicious and there were empty plates all round. The cheesy leeks on the dinner were a welcome addition, yum. I haven’t enjoyed a Sunday lunch out like that in a long time! Thank you so much, will definitely return 😊

Lovely restaurant right in the centre of Tenby. Great selection of drinks and wines. We visited for lunch today, staff are an absolute credit and the service was 10/10 the food came out relatively fast and was of an amazing standard. The food was delicious and freshly cooked. Local fresh produce and meats were used in the food. Definitely recommend visiting here. Everything is reasonably priced and tastes incredible. I had the traditional Welsh cowl served with homemade fresh bread butter and cheese. The broth had some of the best depth of flavour I have ever tried from Welsh cowl. My partner had the butchers best pork and leek sausages with mash and roasted Mediterranean veg. The sausages were huge and juicy and full of flavour.

Had a lovely bowl of Cawl for lunch here today. I was early so atmosphere was lacking but I have eaten here in height of the season and it gets really busy. Lovely food and coffee and lady serving was lovely also 😊

What a wonderful refuge from the icy winds on North Beach today! The Cawl was superb as was the homemade chicken, ham and leek pie and cooked-to-perfection crunchy vegetables. Service was also timely, professional and friendly. Thank you, Bay Tree. We'll be back!

My husband and I had 2 meals at The Baytree over the Christmas period - both evenings were lovely - not rushed even though they were very busy. The food was as always, plentiful, tasty and enjoyed. We had steaks both evenings, also the steak and chicken combo. Starters of Cod Goujons and Chicken/Feta salad. Everything as we could have wanted. Staff were very Welcoming to us and our pooch - attentive and friendly. We don't live far away and try to have a meal here when we visit Tenby - although there is plenty of choice in where to eat in Tenby, we do absolutely recommend The Baytree out of them all. We visited on Saturday 11th November to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary, we choose the Bay tree based on the fantastic reviews plus a client of my husband personally recommended it.We were not disappointed the food was outstanding, we both had Shelled Prawns followed by fillet steak,my husband had chocolate torte & I had ice cream. The whole atmosphere was fantastic we had a lovely table just off the window, it was a lovely area with only 4 tables in total.We sat amongst locals who were out celebrating the blues festival they made us feel extremely welcome & we had great conversations with them & lots of laughter.The staff were also great extremely friendly & helpful & not once did we feel rushed overall a fantastic night & we will definitely be returning.

Found The Baytree after discovering that Il Caminetto was closed. We had the creamy chicken stew, which was absolutely delicious. The waitresses were friendly, nice ambience. Will return.

The food was really good and the service was very attentive. We went for 7pm and it was half term which meant plenty of children making a lot of noise. Would definitely recommend The Bay Tree but maybe not in school holidays if you like it more relaxed

What a fabulous, cosy restaurant! The food was excellent, the staff friendly and an amazing vibrant atmosphere with the live music. The guy with his guitar and mouth organ was brilliant and played a perfect mix of classic songs that we all sang along to. Back to the food…. Loved the fresh veg served with all meals, even my prawn and hake curry. We will be back if visiting Tenby again.

We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and even though the staff didn't know, we felt very special. A table for two in the bay window, the best wait staff, Thursday night music and frigid for and wine! 10/10! Can highly recommend.

After travelling all day we wanted an easy tasty meal and found it here. Nice wines by the glass, and a good range of starters served quickly - soup was good, cajun chicken lovely. The thai fish cakes very generous and well flavoured. Good all round.

Great atmosphere here this evening with live music, mains were great especially the lamb along with cheesy garlic potatoes. The deserts however especially the lemon cheese cake and chocolate brownie not so good. But overall a great night and will be back. Service on point 👌🏼
