I booked an afternoon tea for my Mum, sister & myself for Mothers Day, with my sister having dietary requirements (dairy & gluten allergy). I informed the venue prior to us attending regarding the allergies & called to double check all was well before our arrival (the staff were so friendly & accommodating when I called, putting my mind at rest). The staff on the day were so attentive, friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived- so a big thank you, this was a huge part of us having such a lovely experience! The food, wow! We had the most incredible food, tasty & beautifully displayed....with a lovely glass of fizz! My sister was blown away with the selection provided for her, for her dietary requirements. It was delicious and so lovely for her to feel like she had the same amount of options as we did- which unfortunately doesn't often happen. Not only that but they were quick to offer dairy alternatives for her hot drinks, so she was delighted!! We had an excellent visit to the Bayswell Hotel and we will defiantly be back!

Wonderful one-night break away without the kids. The staff looked after us really well. Nice dinner and breakfast. Menu is limited to 5 starters, 5 mains but covers all the bases. Recommend the John Muir Room. Will return

Starting point for activities in the surrounding area, including Edinburgh. Public transport or rental cars (airport) are recommended. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Guests come from all over the world. A very nice breakfast and restaurant room overlooking the sea

Lovely hotel, really helpful staff. Great location to go to Edinburgh takes 1 hour on the bus and late bus back from Edinburgh. So much more cheaper than staying in Edinburgh. Scenery round Dunbar is stunning. Quaint little town

We had a really nice overnight stay in this hotel.. lovely clean room with a sea view, unfortunately the haar spoiled our view. Breakfast was lovely, plenty to choose from & freshly cooked. All staff were very polite & friendly. I would definitely stay here again & can recommend it to anyone thinking of a stay in Dunbar or the neighbouring area.

Lovely clean room. Very airy and relaxing. Breakfast perfectly cooked to specification and waiting staff delightfully helpful. Absolutely lovely stay, we didn't opt for a hot tub room choosing to enjoy the views from the four poster bed and a deep soak in the sumptuous bath.

We booked a table of 7 at 6.30pm this weekend. We were sat upstairs where there was 2 children's parties ? The noise was just awful, we couldn't hear a thing at our table due to screaming kids (not blaming the kids / it was their party but not acceptable to sit 7 adults next to it) I asked at 7pm when the party would wind down and was told 'hopefully soon" it finally wound down at 7.30pm?? We spent best part of an hour trying to hear each other with not much luck ? The place was like a bomb site /food on floor /burst balloons/cake mashed into the floor! It was chaos. I wouldn't have been surprised if Mini Mouse had arrived with face paints for the Kids ?? !!! The service thereafter was worse. The food was well below average. Waited 20 mins for water on the table despite asking 3 times, no cutlery replaced after the starter therefore main meal served with nothing to eat it with and was nearly cold by the time we did get cutlery. Calamari was served as chunks of deep fried squid in breadcrumbs? Just awful and clearly not fresh and from the frozen bag ?? My sister-in-Law is gluten intolerant therefore ordered from Gluten Free menu. Overnight she became unwell due to eating something with Gluten in it from the Gluten Free menu ?? 24 hours later she is still unwell. ? Still a bit shocked how bad the experience and food was.

I've had food here before and it's been ok but not great however having just walked in now before the advertised closing time to just be told, we're closed and when I queried on the time the response is just were closed without any form of apology or explanation I couldn't recommend this place on the basis of the reliability or service alone
