It was a lovely stay. The staff were amazingly friendly and always had a big smile on their faces. The view was great.

Not a 5 star experience! Let me start by saying that I generally do not complain about the quality of restaurants or hotels, let alone take the time to write reviews. However, in this case, I would like to make an exception. I do this to warn holidaymakers and travelers about a similar experience to what our group had during our visit to the Marine Hotel in North Berwick, Scotland. The hotel is advertised as a family friendly 5-star hotel. It is a charming historic building located by the coast and North Berwick Golf. The maintenance of the building, facilities and the rooms is way overdue (leakages, stains, mold etc.), but I am willing to accept this as characteristic charm of a typical British/Scottish hotel. What was, however, unacceptable was the temperature in the room and the fact that there was hardly any hot water coming from the tap. This made showering almost impossible and meant we had to take a lukewarm bath daily, which took an hour to fill. The staff was friendly, but there was a structural understaffing, inexperience and lack of leadership. This led to unacceptable situations occurring daily. In some cases, it took hours for orders to be served, and something was forgotten with almost every order. Main courses arrived before appetizers. Some orders never came, and dishes were often no longer warm by the time they arrived. The quality of the food was also very subpar and at times we had to get our own drinks or glasses from the bar. In the bar, it occurred almost daily that there was no space for us because many tables seemed to be reserved for visitors from outside the hotel. We were usually referred to the lobby. We were also told daily in the hotel bar that it was to busy and that it would take a while for our order to be ready. In the swimming pool and the spa/wellness area - that was also not maintained well and quite unhygienic - it was invariably very crowded. Unfortunately, children are limitedly welcome. Upon inquiry, it turned out that the crowds were mainly related to visitors from outside the hotel. Beside the pool with very limited access for children there are no facilities for children like a playroom. All in all this was definitely not a 5-star family friendly experience, especially if the price level (£600 - £350 per room per night) is taken into account. We tried discussing this with the manager but he just suggested us to book a different hotel next time. Needless to say…

Although the rooms beds, bathroom toiletries being Loris (whch I love) are spot on..the bathrooms and showers need quite a bit of attention, absolutely abysmal it's a blooming dribble coming out the shower..Currently staying in room 304. It's really a bit of a let down🥺

Had a couple of drinks in the bar when we stayed elsewhere in N Berwick. Nice ambience, good service and surprisingly reasonable prices (in comparison to other bars in the town).

Had a great stay in November last year, the hotel was brilliant, the breakfast was good for vegetarians, although the evening meal options weren’t great for veggies so we didn’t eat at the hotel in the evenings. It’s a relatively short walk into the town and there were a few options to eat out there. Stunning scenery and the spa facilities were great. The room was lovely with great sea views

Stunning location, cuisine, and highly attentive staff. I stayed in the seaside king suite and felt pampered from arrival to departure. Their attention to detail is unparalleled, even offering loaner bicycles to explore the area at your leisure.

Delivery was crap food very cold and bacon gourmet burger is barely cooked was like a sole from a shoe shoved in a bun with a strip of bacon that’s looked like it had been left over from yesterday’s breakfast nothing gourmet at all strongly recommend going to a different restaurant.

Ordered a few drinks, not busy. Barista on till was friendly. I specifically asked for half the chocolate in a hot chocolate (to make it less rich) and the team on bar seemed to think there was an invisible sound proof wall between them and customers because when one barista asked about it the other said ‘it doesn’t matter, nobody cares’. I piped up asking them to make it as requested and clearly they realised they’d been heard. They were not cleaning jugs between drinks, just topping up more milk and reheating milk endlessly. They also still didn’t get the order right woth the other drinks. Overall a bad experience both customer service wise and quality of product.

Fantastic wee boozer. The guy behind the bar(Craig i think) was exceptionally friendly. He was really pleased to see our wee dogs. Couldn't have made us feel more welcome.
