Bay View Restaurant in North Devon

Path up from Lymouth central car park (free after 6pm) is steep but steps are well lit. Ring the bell for entry! Only a few tables available to cover hotel guests and non-residents, so be sure to book. Food must be pre ordered, but is then timed beautifully. Staff could not be more helpful. Whole atmosphere is so different to some modern sea-side facilities, we appreciated the care taken and interesting decor (local pottery figues, wall of interesting mirrors). But access may be a problem to some.

We had a lovely meal here the other evening. The views of the sea were lovely and the food, which we had pre-ordered was delicious - crispy chilli pork salad and scallops for starters and the pork belly and hake for main- all served beautifully and tasted amazing! We just about fitted in a pudding each, again fab! Seriously, the tastiest meal we've had in ages! Catherine who co -owns the restaurant was good company and ordered us a taxi home. We will definitely be returning when we are next back in Lynmouth!

We had dinner here two nights running (although were not staying at hotel). Lovely host, excellent service. The food was really great, freshy cooked, the pie was fantastic.

5 We stayed in the adjoining Hotel with family and decided to have an evening meal in this restaurant. The dining room is yhe conservatory with great sea and town views. The food was excellent (pre order required) with a great choice of beautiful starters, main courses and deserts. The ingredients were locally sourced of excellent quality and cooked expertly.

What a wonderful evening meal we had here. The welcome we got when we arrived was warm and comfortable. Because of the pre ordering system our food was freshly cooked and delicious. The surroundings are at the same time impressive yet comfortable. I'm sure there is a good view too, it was dark when we were there. We had intended walking to our accommodation in Lynton (up the really steep footpath) but we hadn't factored in that the path is unlit in places and was covered in slippery leaves. We asked Catherine if she could recommend a taxi firm. Not only could she, she ordered it for us. Service above and beyond at every point. I understand that Sarah the chef caters for every dietary requirement.

When I called to book the owners went out of their way to fit my family in for dinner for my mum’s 60th birthday. We had such a warm welcome on arrival and the great service continued all evening. The food was all excellent, my uncle was raving about the venison all the way home! A really charming and special restaurant.

Full of character as the ambiance feels a bit of time warp- which adds to its charm as well as the glorious view over Lynmouth. Its strange in having to preorder from the menu on the website - so no walk-ins. This aside the food was very well executed. I had the belly pork, and as an expert in this matter, which the best one I ever had. previous ones had good crackling but it had been cooked separately, other were masses of fat and limp skin. This was non of the above but perfect crackling on firm meat. The rest of the meal was equally as good. We had coffee in the lounge to linger on the experience. As others have noted they dont get much trade (there were three tables occupied that night) - they deserve more!

Fabulous food, picked from a really interesting menu. Having to preorder seemed odd but makes perfect sense when you want to get good quality and avoid unnecessary waste. Served by the owner who was lovely and friendly with ideas for other things to do in the area.

Perfect hosts in a lovely friendly setting with bay views. Superb food with a wide ranging menu, highly recommended. Be prepared for generous portions for this exceptional dining experience, should be award winning as full of exquisite tastes. Suggest a light lunch before you arrive for your evening meal, you will not be disappointed. The crispy chilli pork salad is fantastic, extremely morish. Best place that I have eaten in for a long time :)

We'd never been to Lynmouth before and chose this restaurant from reviews on this site. We were not disappointed. From the moment the door opened Sarah's warm, friendly personality shone through. We were ushered into a beautiful room with tasteful and unusual Christmas decorations. We were a family group of 5 celebrating a wedding anniversary and 2 birthdays. The menu was varied and interesting, all perfectly cooked and presented. Despite me making a mistake with pre-ordering our starters - I missed one out - this was not a problem. Another one arrived in a very short time. All in all we had a wonderful evening with a charming hostess and truly memorable food.

Thanks Tripadvisor for highlighting this gem. We were looking for dinner as the restaurant at the Rising Sun was closed. Bookings must be made in advance and menu choices pre-ordered. This was done very efficiently via email to Sarah. We probably didn't get the best atmosphere as it was a Monday night and only two tables were occupied, so it was a bit surreal! The food is stunning though. A real focus on local produce. Spicy pork salad was truly outstanding, really capturing Asian spice on deliciously cooked crispy tender pork cubes. The venison main was also excellent. My wife had the rice pudding, for dessert which she said was the best she had tasted. Great selection of local gins as well. Shame it was dark outside as the views look stunning.

My wife and I decided to eat here on our first night in Lynmouth. So glad we did. Food was excellent, so good that we also ate here on our last night in the area. What a find!

Been a couple of years since we last dined here, due to all what has been going on in the world. But nothing has changed here, fantastic food cooked to perfection, a very relaxed atmosphere, and an amazing view over Lynmouth. A warm welcome upon arrival, and a huge amount of knowledge of the local area. As previously said, it is without doubt the best place to dine in Lynmouth. We will certainly be returning when next in the area.

The most amazing dinner we had whilst away. Everything was locally sourced, cooked to perfection and we could not fault the service either. Compared to lunches we had out on the moors the price was so reasonable especially for the quality and portion size. Wish I was able to have what everyone else was having too as all the food looked phenomenal. Such a quaint little restaurant with limited tables. If you can get in it is THE BEST restaurant in lynmouth!! By a country mile!
