This was a wonderful experience from start to finish. I am surprised it is not rated higher. We tried several restaurants ( red barn , the tides ( went twice) Electric bar) but this was the best, Yes it was more expensive but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for!! Decor, Staff (first rate) exceptional food, beautifully presented and swift service. The first time we didn't book but they managed to find a table and we were seated quickly, The second time i booked as it was my wife's birthday a memorable meal,

Nice restaurant and can’t complain about the food however as a dog friendly restaurant we took our dogs. One barked (once) and from that moment on felt like they couldn’t wait to get us out. I’ve been a few times now and this time I felt like they looked at us as if we aren’t spending enough money and actually just wanted to get rid of us asap, from walking in to going out we were an hour! Our bill was still £100 for 3 meals and drinks, but we clearly weren’t for them I was going to have a desert but to be honest at least £12 is decided I’d sooner spend that money elsewhere. It’s a shame as we liked this place but would much sooner go to the Beach House up the road where they are dog friendly and don’t give you a look of disgust.

Pleasant waiting staff, varied menu. Starters are very, very small but tasty. Main course delicious. Large venue so you are likely to get a table without booking. The beauty of this place is that, other than Tides Inn restaurant, it is impossible to get anything remotely healthy to eat in Woolacombe. I lost weight on my trip there because all I wanted to eat was salad; all of the other restaurants do beige food: chips, fish, burgers, pizza etc. If you want to eat well and not feel ill, eat at either this place or Tides. Pricey but worth it if you want a normal diet and to not leave 1 st heavier than when you arrived.

I’ve NEVER felt so belittled! My family and I visited the hotel for a drink. We asked reception desk if we could use the bar and she said we could We waited and were ignored by two female members of staff. My husband stood and waited whilst we sat down and he was totally blanked by staff. It’s so rude and a disgrace to treat customers who were planning on returning later that day to the cinema with more family members I cannot imagine why we were treated this way? We were wearing smart casual clothing but we were snubbed!! As soon as another customer stood up and went to the bar he was acknowledged straight away and served. So we left and told reception of our dissatisfaction Don’t give this outdated Hotel the custom Unless you’re looking for a 1970’s sitcom experience with Basil Fawlty and staff

Visiting Woolacombe for the first time in 3 years. This place used to be very good. Unfortunately it is now very poor. There was nothing particularly wrong with the quality of the mains but the portions have been shrunk drastically (probably due to cost of living). Prices are very high for what you get. Dessert was laughable. Left feeling hungry and I’m not the biggest eater. Such a shame. We used to eat here several times a week when on holiday but we won’t be bothering this time. Improvement needed.

We visited the brasserie to have a meal before a cinema night. The service was by and large good, with the exception of one rather grumpy waitress, the food was at best average, quite well cooked but ridiculously small portions at very high prices with a penchant for beetroot based sauces over everything. All in all not a good experience and certainly not a place I would recommend.

Dropped in for lunch, very lovely interior to the hotel and restaurant, very friendly staff, and a lovely location. The food however was very poor, we only came for lunch and simply ordered sandwiches that were described as gourmet on the menu. What we got was one beef and horseradish sandwich with no butter, no horseradish on stale bread, and one chargrilled turkey toasted sandwich with garlic mustard mayo and salad with no garlic mayo, cheap sliced turkey in a cheap panini with wilted steaming hot lettuce and tomato inside. Would have been better off getting sandwiches from a petrol station. Don't bother going to eat, but nice place for drinks and I'm sure the hotel rooms are nice

Do not understand the negative reviews, we ate here on a Saturday night and the whole experience was fantastic. We arrived early and had a drink in the bar first. Very attentive waiting staff then showed us to our table. Lovely menu selection and we went for the hummus sharing starter (which was the best starter we have ever had) - the flavours were incredible and presentation was amazing. For mains we had the pork belly and chicken, and again the presentation was top class and tasted outstanding. Regular checks by the waiting staff, very polite and friendly. Would absolutely come here again.

I’ve got to be honest and say that I can’t understand some of the negative reviews here. This is the second time I’ve been to this place and been blown away each time. The service was incredible with every attention to detail noted. Check backs were perfect and timed very well and we were always asked if everything was fine and if we wanted drinks. The food - I cannot, and I mean CANNOT, explain how incredible it is. We had the Hummus sharer and it was just mind blowing. Taste was off the scale good. If I’m honest, there was too much!!! It would make an amazing main too. Only thing I would say was a “phew” moment was the mains came out quite quickly afterwards. But then again, that’s excellent as well. I probably would have wanted a few more minutes. To be honest, we could have said. Chicken breast for mine - I couldn’t make the plate any cleaner if I tried, the flavours were immense. A MUST TRY. Better half had the pork and it was insanely good. The place is spotless, staff were amazing and all dressed as you’d expect for a brassiere. Toilets were spotless, warm and really well looked after. Reasonably priced for the level of service and quality of food/drinks. I would HIGHLY recommend this place and will absolutely be coming again… and again…

Booked for a family birthday meal for 10. Cost £202 for 1 main course each and 8 soft drinks. The food was reheated, dry and tasteless. Totally overpriced. The feta, filo parcel was almost inedible and the veg was cold, with no sauce. The gluten free vegetarian option was a plate of undercooked squash and a few more vegetables. I had checked availability for our dietary requirements in advance when I booked. I was told, no problem. The Brasserie is supposed to be part of an upmarket hotel. The food was shocking, we would not recommend the Brasserie, definitely avoid ‘Sunday Lunch’. We will not eat there again.

Arrived for Sunday lunch whilst we were on holiday and was looking forward to not cooking for a change whilst on holiday. We sat in the attrium bit and not the main area, and main route to kitchen was along the narrow space directly table, strange to have waiters running behind us all the time. We were then told that they were only doing cold food as chef not there, we’d ordered drinks and asked them to check as we wanted something hot. Not a great start! Good news chef back and we could have hot food. I ordered fish off specials menu, John Dory which was the best dish, came with sauce and potatoes with sun dried tomatoes. 3 kids ordered from kids menus which was usual boring kids food options, pasta tomato sauce, burger, fish goujons etc. One ordered vegetarian option, courgettes and peppers and lots of cous cous but this was not mentioned on the menu. Wife had hot Camembert in bread, so we’d orders 6 dishes for 6:people. Her dish arrived first and everyone else had to wait for theirs. We were not sharing this dish and fact we had ordered 6 dishes clearly 6 main dishes. Kids pasta was cold, so sent back, kids burger was very dry, Camembert ok, kids fish ok, my John Dory was best dish but should be at £22. Being honest meal was very average, it seemed quiet for a Sunday lunch and got impression all all dishes are bought in Brake Bros and simply cooked. So no real homemade food. Shame as I was looking forward to a nice meal out.

And dessert was shared,3 scoops of very mediocre ice cream -of which the pineapple ice cream was totally tasteless. Sadly the service was very disappointing. Our waitress was surly and unhelpful when we asked about gluten free options on the menu and she removed the wine glasses before asking if we wanted any wine! Having arrived earlier than our 7.30pm reservation my husband went up to the Matre de Desk to let them know we had arrived.. on giving the young lady his details,I.e., name, time of booking and that it was for two, and that we were going to the bar for a drink, was told not to be long as they were very busy and our booking was for 7pm for 4 persons. My husband, got his phone out to double check his booking which he restated was for 2 persons at 7,30pm. The young lady was very dismissive, again saying it was four 4 persons at 7pm. My husband showed her our confirmation email and spelt our surname out, at which point, she waved her hand and said, oh I have you. No apology, for not acknowledging her error or rudeness, my husband chose to book here for a special evening meal. We sat in the lounge are of the bar and then decided that in actual fact the Bay Brasserie didn’t deserve our custom, or our hard earned cash, so we cancelled our booking online whilst we finished our drinks.

My partner went up to the bar to buy us two cokes, to which they said it was table service. We waited. And waited. A lady approached a waitress and said that they'd been waiting for their bill for well over 20 minutes. We waited a good 10 minutes or so, and while there were waiting staff moving about, we were clearly not important. So, to the restaurant - pay attention to your visitors! I’m glad hadn’t looked at Trip Advisor before selecting to eat here. We were looking for somewhere without queues and also dog friendly and just stumbled upon the Brasserie. Like everywhere post Covid seating is a little spread out and staff keep their distance. Service was good from start to finish, with all the waiters and waitresses (especially Holly) really friendly and welcoming.Wide choice in the menu, though we both opted for their Burger and Chips. Must say we both thought it was, if not, the best burger we’d ever had, tasty and cooked to perfection, the smoked cheese and bacon were nice, but not over powering. The chips were also a good surprise, it said handcut, and I imagine these really were, wouldn’t normally get excited about chips but these were fantastic (good size, great taste, not greasy), and good size portion. The side salad was little - just how I like it!We had such a good meal, when we were in Woolacombe the next day we went back, I had a great FishFinger sandwich (and ordered a side of chips - excellent again) and my partner a cream tea. Again excellent, and staff remembered us.Should add for quality of food and surroundings the prices were quite reasonable. When things are a bit more normal we may stay there for a weekend.

Floor manager very abrupt. No conversation, never bothered to ask how are you? Or how was your day? We waited 25 mins for our first drink. Then an hour wait for food. It wasn't busy. No explanation on the wait. We had clearly been forgotten about. People around us coming in after were being served and attended too. First meal arrived 1 hour later. It was delicious. Then another long wait for the next course. We asked for desserts then waited an hour for somebody to come over again. At this point it had gone 10pm.. we watched bizarrely as 1 by 1 the room emptied including staff.. there were 0 staff in the restaurant as they clocked off home and shockingly left us sat there. Nobody came over to ask if we needed anything, another drink or even our bill. We were left bitterfly unimpressed, looking around in complete dismay as all staff had gone home. I went to look for somebody as we hadn't had our bill.. A very confused waiter in a different room said she would go and find somebody for us. Looking very confused as to why we were still sat there as all the staff who should have been serving us had gone home and the restaurant was closed. We could have walked out without anybody even realizing. Nobody cared. Service was appalling. We paid for 3 courses plus hot and cold drinks. Over 4 hours of waiting and waiting. No apology. When we finally got the bill there was no apology. We would have taken this up with the 'manager' but she was nowhere to be seen despite strutting around previously, she did little apart from march around. If she would have opened her eyes she would have noticed us sat there waiting for food and drinks and service. We will not be back which is a shame as the food was delicious. Food was delicious however we feel other tables were prioritised over ourselves and our table service generally was extremely slow/poor. Waited over an hour for first course (it wasn't busy and not covid related). When the food did arrive it was delicious. We did feel forgotten about. Not what you want when spending top money on food and drink. We continued to wait for our bill as the restraunt emptied including staff leaving. We then had to go looking for someone to ask if we could pay our bill to be met with a slightly confused waitress wondering why there was anyone left in the restaurant at all as the restaurant had closed. Overall not impressed on the service unless you buy a bottle of prosseco with your main meal dispite us having a 3 course meal with drinks. We had a great night at this restaurant but I had issues with some of the food and the lack of table service. We had 2 sharing platters to start. The dough balls with chorizo was ok but the dough balls were tough. The baked camembert with flat bread was great but seriously short on flat bread - enough for less than half the cheese. We ordered more bread but were charged an extra £2.50 for it, a bit cheeky when the dish had already cost a hefty £14. My main was chicken and chorizo rigatoni but I couldn't find any chicken and the pasta was undercooked. My partner said her fish was amazing and the crab linguine looked great. I finished with the cheese board but the inattentive staff didn't give me the cheeses I asked for. The goats cheese, which I normally love was very sharp. We had a lateish table at 9pm and the restaurant was empty by the time we got to our mains. There were lots of staff but no one came to check our table to see if everything was ok with mains or dessert. I think I was unlucky last night but it could be so much better.

Pretty much every holiday we have in Woolacombe means a visit to the Woolacombe Bay Hotel and the brasserie/courtyard for dinner or lunch. As always great service from friendly and attentive staff and great food. Cannot fault it. Family and dogs are well catered for here.

Really enjoyed our lunch here - the service was superb and everyone really enjoyed their food. Lacks a bit of ‘ambience’ in the restaurant area - perhaps a decor change might help but I bet it works well in the winter months. Steak sandwich was one of the best I’ve had!

Strange, last review is from 2017? Suppose the hotel has been open all years until now, but don’t know for sure. Anyway, the bar is open for dinner and not only for hotelguests. Nice entourage, friendly staff (maybe too friendly - we saw everybody eating fast, staff looked like in a hurry because of that, while we wanted to eat slowly and enjoy the evening. Menu still open is not made a choice so don’t ask twice). Ate great chicken and pasta with local crab. And good wine from Puglia-Italy. A must eat in Woolacombe.

Booked here last minute and was accommodated nicely, we had a nice table in the back as we had a buggy and needed lots of room, this restaurant is dog friendly and had lots of dogs in that area which I enjoyed! All very well behaved, tables nice and far apart from each other, my mother in law said she had the nicest starter she even had here! (The asparagus option!) I shared the chirizo and pepperoni with doughballs which were lovely but the doughballs very tough to eat and swallow! Had the rigatoni for mains which was amazing and my partner and parents shared the cheese platters which were to die for. Reasonable priced meal for 4 of us. Would definitely return

This restaurant is part of the Woolacombe Bay Hotel, we weren’t guests and hadn’t booked a table but from the moment we walked in we were made to feel very welcome and were seated straight away at a table of our choice. The menu choice was impressive and surprisingly good value for money considering its location. We had olives and pitta bread as a shared starter followed by Spanish pizza and a lovely creamy pasta dish. The food was beautiful and the service was excellent too.

We called in for a coffee with our 3 children, we were greeted at the door and my husband asked if it was possible to just have a coffee as we didn’t want food. We found our table and the same waitress asked if we would ‘still like to see the lunch menu’ despite us already making it clear we just wanted coffee. We then asked for a WiFi password and were told only residents could use the WiFi (much to my kids disappointment!). The cappuccinos then arrived and were really bitter, mine was hot but my husbands was cold. We have been here a few times before and have always felt a little out of place as a family but this time we decided we won’t come again. It may be lovely for a meal or to stay but they don’t appear to like customers who only want coffee.

Checked website to ensure lunch was available. States 12 noon to 15:00. Arrived at 14:50. Was told only sandwiches available. We stated the time and also we had travelled for 1 hour. Chef decided otherwise. We reluctantly ordered a sandwich. To add insult to injury, the table the waiter was taking an order from as we waited to be seated had their (hot) meal served at the same time as our sandwich was delivered to our table!

Return visit to a familiar haunt. Our experience of the service here has always been very good. The staff take care to do things right and you never feel hurried along.good cocktail list is always a plus and they will make whatever you want here. Starters of baked prawns in garlic with bruschetta were delicious . The mains of Hake with tarragon mash was a daily special but was absolutely superb ! My wife had the seafood linguine which had just enough caper to balance the flavour. Apricot crumble and home made ice creams for deserts rounded off a good meal. The food here is a great alternative to other offerings locally. It's is not the cheapest but does not purport to be . We have been coming here for years and will hopefully continue to do so.

Having been disappointed by another establishment nearby we were keen to find somewhere to eat., On arrival we were made to feel welcome and shown to our table, the place was clean and tidy. The service was excellent , all who served us worked hard and were polite and friendly - Costel and Vasi especially. One of the specials was plaice which three of us enjoyed and this was served with a delightful creamy mash in sauce. Portions were just the right size. Would highly recommend.

Stopped here for a cream tea one morning recently with the family but was sadly disappointed. The scones were a bit stale and tasteless but the real problem was the time it took to deliver said scones and the drinks. We waited so long for the tea that we’d almost finished the scones by the time it arrived - it took about 20 mins. Plus we had my two grandchildren with us who ordered chocolate cake (which the waitress took the kids to choose before ordering) and hot chocolates but only one cake arrived ( they’d ran out in between showing the kids the cake and actually bringing it to the table) and again, cake was finished before the drinks arrived. It was a bit of a car crash really in terms of the service and not really that cheap either. We won’t be back.

We had dinner at the Bay Brasserie twice during our recent holiday in Woolacombe. On both occasions the food was good quality, the service friendly and attentive and the atmosphere relaxed, informal and family friendly. The tiger prawn starter was a stand out dish that I would definitely recommend. The staff made a real fuss of our daughters which always goes down well with them (and their parents). It is a little pricier than some other options in Woolacombe but I would definitely return.

We had an outstanding meal from Ryan while on holiday with our 11 month old. Delicious restaurant quality food with none of the stress of chasing our toddler around a busy dining room full of other patrons! The food was excellent as was the service and he left the kitchen spotless. We would highly recommend for a luxurious but relaxed experience.
