Bawtry's Restaurant in Doncaster

We were staying at the establishment for one night whilst in the area. We are breakfast in the tearoom. Everything was cooked fresh to order and was superb. Quality ingredients. Friendly staff. As overnight guests we received ac25% discount which made for a very reasonable and plentiful breakfast. With regard to the accommodation. It was spotlessly clean and a very comfy bed. Nice touch of a small fridge in the room with complimentary water and milk. Super little place to stay and dine.

The bar staff are lovely but unfortunately the chef and their waiters are just rude! We walked in and sat down, there was no reserve sign on the table we chose. The waitress snapped at us asking if we’ve booked a table, when we replied no the chef screamed saying food would be AT LEAST an hour. We said that’s fine we will wait. He then went on cursing saying he has no staff and was terribly rude. I understand if you’re short staffed, but manners and politeness costs nothing! We ordered our food and then our parents decided what they wanted so I ask the waitress if they could order theirs now, and they refused their order and said it would be another hour after our food had arrived. We will not visit here again! Avoid!

Best food around. It is now our venue of choice. Lots of choice and superb quality. Burgers to die for. Fish is great. Staff are polite and helpful.

Excellent meal , good atmosphere good service . Highly recommended. 3 friend pre Christmas dining all had steak in various guises . Meat cooked perfectly , sauces a dream presented well and good portions

What a great little gem. The food was absolutely fantastic, one of the best carvery meals we have had. Reasonably priced and staff very welcoming. Definitely go back.

Service at the bar slow. The meal was deep fried, greasy and tasteless. “Chunky” chips were greasy and limp. Onion rings were dripping in grease. We ate most of the burgers because we had waited so long for the food (we were advised about the wait). We did tell the waiter when he asked us if we’d enjoyed the meal. He said he’d tell the chef aka deep fat frier. No feedback, Complete waste of hard earned money.

Visited this lovely bar/pub on a number of occasions - we loved it every single time. Food was fabulous, prices were extremely reasonable and the atmosphere/furnishing were comfortable and inviting. Could not recommend this place highly enough.

We stayed over as there are a few rooms available, and was a lovely comfortable clean room. Breakfast was beautiful and is highly recommended. It’s a beautiful bar and staff are friendly and welcoming. Will definitely go again and try the menu next time

Birthday lunch for 14 family, the meals were excellent and served all together having pre ordered, staff were really pleasant and helpful.

We ate at Little Bawtry's and the food was fantastic. Kai and Josh were so accommodating. We will definitely be recommending here to friends and visiting again!

Went to Little Bawtrys for lunch today - very impressed - excellent vfm - regular fish and chips (comes with bread and butter & tea) was huge. Small all day breakfast came with 2 slices of toast. Friendly cheerful staff.

Went for mothers day. Disaster. Waited 40 mins for our wine to come, no glasses, waited 10 mins went to bar got tray asked for 10 glasses and carried back to table, no help from staff., Meal ordered, starters ok. Steaks- my wife and i had rib-eye which came totally raw instead of medium rare we could not even cut it with steak knives. My daughter had a fillet that came well done instead of medium rare. We asked for our rib-eye steaks to go back and just pan fried for a couple of mins. It took so long to come back that everyone had finished their meals by the time our steaks came back. By then we had had enough only ate half our meal and gave up. Then to cap it off, we were accused of being rude!!!!!Really?????? My family and i will not be returning there again.!!!!

Fantastic food and staff were great. Catered for the children by giving them their own little area without being asked. So relaxed wi be booking for boxing day 2023

Visited with friends Saturday 25th November. I ordered Ribeye Steak Medium rare my Partner had T Bone Medium both steaks came out cooked to perfection, top quality food & service ! Would highly recommend. Best food & Service in the area by far!

Stayed here for 3 nights recently in one of the self contained rooms upstairs, room was basic but comfortable, very clean...Only downside no option for breakfast in the morning. The food and drink in the bar was excellent. There is a good lively atmosphere at night. Staff were very friendly and looked after us.

Stopped by for a couple of after work beers (Friday finish). Good beer, good service and work hard to make sure to you have a good time. Clean and tidy and very relaxed

It was a Monday night, and as per usual most places in Bawtry were shut! However Bawtry’s wasn’t, so in we dived! Front of house Josh looked after us throughout the evening, what a star! The restaurant has had a makeover since I last visited, and it looks tremendous. The food is prepared in an open kitchen, which is always nice to see. What we had was superb, and great value for money. Hot chicken wings, mozzarella strips, a burger with blue cheese, yummy! The wines are reasonably priced as well, and they have non commercial Rose on the list!…..quite a rarity nowadays. It’s such a shame we have now moved out of the area, but rest assured we will be back at Bawtry’s on our next visit!

Ate at Bawtrys Steakhouse and Pizzaria, new menu , old favourites plus a few new choices and tweaks. Fairly busy but not over ful , staff very polite and attentive without being over the top, a good and happy atmosphere. Decided to try the Bawtrys mixed grill , opted for the skinny fries instead of the usual fat fries, an enormous portion, rump steak, pork steak, sausage, lamp cutlet, gammon , chicken, black pudding , white pudding, sides of tomato , mushroom and green beans, all good, the meal was actually served on large pizza plates , which was better than everything clumped onto a smaller plate, the food was good and served to taste ( medium rare), will definitely have this again very filling and tasty.

Lots of interesting photos/memorabilia etc. in this charming brasserie right in the centre of Bawtry. Service was pleasant and helpful. Reasonable choice of beers and the Theakston's Pale Ale was v.good. The menu was geared towards pizza's and burgers, but we decided to choose 3 starters, which proved sufficient as a light lunch for the two of us. The chicken strips, in particular, were very tasty and sizeable, in fact more chunks than strips. The ambience was very pleasant and we enjoyed our first meal together in Bawtry, a very pleasant town, which I worked in around 5-6 years ago.

Fabulous meal last night, huge sharing platter starters, 4 different burgers for mains accompanied by great service and great value prices Quick tip....starve all day before going there 🤣

What a fantastic afternoon, amazing roast dinner brought to table to carve yourself. Lots of gorgeous side dishes and fantastic service. All finished off with pianist playing while you eat. Amazing afternoon, highly recommended

A good local grill bar worth a visit if passing through Bawtry on way home from Doncaster. Good rump steak, cooked just the right side of medium rare; and a tasty piri piri chicken skewer. Nice to see an open kitchen but the chefs need...

What can I say, fabulous food and friendly attentive service. Fillet steaks (3 of) all cooked to perfection and WOW, they tasted fantastic. All the other food eaten on the night was cooked to the same high standard. This restaurant is well worth a visit.

Visited last night - food was fantastic - didn’t like the sauce for the steak - not their fault just not my taste but they immediately offered me a different sauce free of charge - whenever we visit we find the food amazing but also...

Celebrated a 60th Birthday here with a lovely hot buffet there was lots of choice and plenty of food such as pizzas, chicken gougons, sandwiches, chips etc. Staff couldn't do enough for us. Well worth a visit!

Went this weekend for our colleagues 60th. They said they’d struggle to offer us table service so offered us a buffet instead. 17£ seemed a bit steep but was definitely worth it! It included chicken skewers, goujons, tonnes of pizzas, salad, sandwiches, chips and mac and cheese bites! Was all really yummy! It also included desserts like fruit and chocolate waffles and biscoff cheesecake! Service was really fab. Only reason not 5 star was because as it was their first buffet the ratios off food were slightly off (too many sandwiches and maybe better off with another type of salad) but they took our feedback on board and were super lovely!

Never eaten here so cannot comment on the food. The drinks are overpriced. £23 for 3 gin and lemonades and the lemonade needed changing so tasted awful. Disappointing as it has been okay before.

Formally run as Coleman's Steakhouse the restaurant is now under new management and has a more dynamic feel. The main menu still consists of quality steaks as the name suggests but the other mains and starters have been up rated to include other foods as well as some vegetarian options, a particular favourite seems to be the sharing platter which consists of a number of items from the menu.

We all got together here today to have a family birthday meal, we booked for 2pm starters came at 3.30 and main meal followed afterwards there was around 20 of us and we had pre ordered our meals only us in the restaurant very very slow service food not bad but not the best for prices, maybe not worth another vist.

Absolutely appalling service here today. We sat for over an hour after ordering. Our starter was nachos for 4 people...how on earth does it take an hour to serve nachos when the restaurant is quiet?! We are hard working mums who have taken an annual leave day to have fun with friends. This is just not good enough! We will never come here again!!!

This is a lively place with a great atmosphere and the food that we had was very good, although it was just pick up/nibble food, not a full meal. The service is good and we will certainly return.

Never let it be said I don't give a place a chance. Don't think we will be back in a hurry if at all. No one but the young staff on the floor . No one in control. Service slow, cold steak, pizza re cooked on the pass and dry burgers.

We love coming to Bawtry’s. The steaks are always amazing & Andy is friendly & accommodating.

Booked here and confirmed over phone on the day. On arrival told to go round corner through front door. After waiting I gave name and was told to go through. Picked a table and waited 10 minutes. After nobody came I went back to the bar and tried to gain attention from barmaid, she just gave me a scowl and walked outside to talk to the doorman. No chance of service from ignorant staff, we just left.

Table reserved easily by telephone for a Tuesday evening.

Stopped by for a nice bottle of wine off cuff, when we had the afternoon to ourselves... lively setting and nice selection of wines and guns.. great chilled afternoon child free..

This is one of the best places to visit if you are in bawtry the food is absolutely amazing we had the meat pizza and it’s the best pizza we have ever had.The ribs we ordered were cooked to perfection the meat just fell off the bone.This restaurant is a must try.A big thank you to John and his staff .The bar staff are friendly and polite and The service is excellent run by Michael .Will be returning soon.

A Tuesday evening trying to find somewhere for four to eat, everywhere full till we come to the BBB, almost empty. However based on a food critics write up in a national paper we thought we would give it a go. Enter the door and the barman does not acknowledge us, when he finally does he explains that the menu in front of us is the bar menu, £17.95 for a burger on a bar menu!!! He explains that the restaurant menu is different, so we ask where the restaurant is and he points to a corner of the room. So we sit there and wait to be served. He duly appears with the same menu, question where is the restaurant menu, apparently his pointing was to indicate we go over there and then through a door marked 'toilets' to a restaurant called Colemans. But if we sit where we are he can get their menu as they share a kitchen. Colemans menu is the same as the bar but he points out it also includes ribs. We gave up and order nachos and pizza, however the hoisin duck pizza was not available because apparently 'ducks are out of season' that took the biscuit and overall impression, they are taking the mickey. In future I think food critics should actually visit the places they write about as clearly the person who praised this place to the heavens has never crossed the threshold.

Have phoned prior to arrival was assured they would be able to cater for our 40 guests staying on a local camp site for wedding.

Went to Bawtry's last Sunday at around 2pm, it was very quiet but service at the bar was slow. Got a pint of diet coke and a Corona which came to over £7... I understand prices have gone up in pubs and bars and we were in Bawtry but what annoyed me most about the price was that the Coke wasn't Pepsi or Coke it was what I like to call 'rola cola' and if it was proper stuff it certainly didn't taste like it - having managed a pub before I understand how tight Pepsi/Coke are with putting soda guns in but at least either lower your prices or offer bottled proper stuff!!

Stopped off in Bawtry on the way to Robin Hood airport and sheltered from the rain in this warm, welcoming bar. Very relaxed friendly atmosphere, excellent range of beers, draft, craft and bottled, spirits and wines. We ordered the steak which was also excellent. Would have happily spent a few more hours here and will not hesitate to return when in the area again.

Great food and very friendly staff- one of our favourite places to meet up with friends or just a quiet drink.

The staff were excellent. They went the extra mile to make our lunch special. It was a 50th birthday celebration. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The place is tastefully decorated and welcoming. I would highly recommend.

Popped in for an impromptu sandwich at lunch time. Prawn on bloomer with side salad and chips. No idea how they cook said chips but wow they were delicious. All lovely fresh products and very tasty. Looking forward to trying out the evening menu.

We come here when travelling nearby and near lunchtime or in the evening, and they are consistently great for: food quality, drinks everything you need including good cask ales, quirky seating arrangements with old suitcase seats/ tables and soft leather sofas privacy if you want it in cosy corners or big tables for fun with friends. Recently they looked after us and bent over backwards to remedy a problem out of their control with normal pizzas. We had our casual conference meeting there with the delicious tasty old peculiar to quench our thirst.

Have been into Bawtry's a few times and always enjoy the food and good atmosphere in this place. The staff are friendly and efficient and the live music on a Friday and Saturday night brings in a good crowd

This is by far the best place to eat in Bawtry.The food and service is outstanding .The food is reasonably priced and it cannot be faulted in any way.Must say a big thank you to Michael for looking after us .If you want great food and a good atmosphere you must visit this place.

Después de pasar 2 horas y 130 libras que un grupo de 7 mujeres de mediana edad dijeron que bajaran el podrían aquí nosotros riendo en el bar. Qué. Nos metimos en la esquina de canguro nuestro propio negocio tener un ponerse al día, lo que supone que uno no pido?

Went today with my hubby lovely lady behind the bar welcoming and obliging I had 20oz ribeye and hubby had piri piri burger which he wasn't keen on I had the steak and it was fabulous before the mains we had fish cakes which were lovely been here few times definitely a winner and will be going back

We went here for a meal will say there was 28 off us. We pe-ordered the meals so it could help them. They sent out one garlic bread to share between 28 off us. Would have been better with two, with how much money was sent in them couple off hours . The meals were lovely came out all hot, once they worked out to call the names to the meals everyone got them. Only part what let them down three meals came out 10 mins late they said they sent, them out but we know we didnt get them. The steaks were cooked lovely, and the pir -pir chicken burger was so soft and moist.

Arrived on a Friday night without a booking and were warmly welcomed and accommodated. The place got quite busy later on, but the service nevertheless remained excellent. The place feels warm and cosy, is clean and tidy and the staff are all friendly. We had a variety of meals including steaks and burgers, which everyone enjoyed. I had the pizza which was quite good for a pub pizza. Plenty of parking across the road.

Every year I meet up with former workmates for a pre-Christmas drink, this year we selected the town of Bawtry, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire.I am a real ale drinker, my friends lager drinkers, so I do like to find a venue that serves decent real ale.The Bawtry had a nice selection of real ales, to which I had 3 pints of good beers on offer, so I was really happy.There is a good restaurant in the pub, meals looked excellent.Made welcome by the publican, a good place to visit.

Popped in for late lunch after visiting Yorkshire wildlife park with family and friends. The place looked a little quiet which worried me a bit but we got greeted by smiley staff and sat down, service was prompt, menu was fabulous I wanted to order loads, portions were good sizes. Enjoyed by the adults and the kids (free wifi was a big tick for the kids) at £130 for 4 adults and 3 kids - starters, mains and drinks I thought was very reasonable. Hope to return soon would definitely recommend

Had assumed this place was a standard pub eatery but it is more. The menu concentrates on steak and pizza (there are other options) and the steak list in particular drew my attention. I tried the Strip Loin which in other places tents to be called New York Strip. It was amazing. Best steak I've had in this country. The missus had a garlic chicken dish which was also good. Nice decor, decent real ales (3 but 2 were not available) friendly but slightly inexperienced staff. Will be returning.

Very busy Saturday night but the garlic chicken was tooo dry to eat,my husband had the folded pizzas ant that was the same over cooked won't be going again.

Called for lunch with my mum a month ago. We were looking for a mid week alternative to somewhere else in the area that had disappointed. I normally check the reviews first but we just chanced it in here. We ate in the bar from the lunch menu which wasn't massive but had more than enough choice. Really nice homemade Thai fish cakes. Nice fresh salad with a variety of leaves etc. Also homemade coleslaw and proper homemade chips. All very good. We've also had the piri piri chicken burger and salad, nice with a good kick, halloumi burger, all good Good selection of real ales and a couple of ciders on draft too. We've been back 3 times now in the past month. And we plan an evening trip to try out the steaks menu that is served in both the bar and bistro at the tea of the building.

Had a few drinks with family in here after visiting coleman's next door for food! Great decor loved the look they have created! This place is on my list to visit for food next!

We came in for lunch after travelling up from leicestershire and was drawn to the place. We had a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar called Joanne and was blown away by how amazing the food was. We was introduced also to to the owner who told about the bar and history. On the whole I Definately recommend the Bawtrys restaurant and great music to boot.

I took my son here for his Birthday treat. The food was fantastic and service attentive . A big thank you to the owners, John and Sarah, for helping to make it a night to remember .We will be back soon.

This pub use to be one of the seediest, spit and sawdust pubs in the area.....BUT NOW......WOW!!What an amazing turnaround from its earlier years.The new owners have really "gone to town" in transforming this bar in to the most fabulous of venues!You have to see it to believe it,if any of you can only remember it for how it use to be.The staff are so friendly, especially Ben who will concoct any cocktail you desire!At the weekend they have live entertainment,and on Saturday they have a fantastic saxophone player!The food is also wonderful with an excellent selection on the menu.Can't wait to go back again and again!

We booked in advance to celebrate end of term from night school and paid a deposit so the manager knew we were dining and what we were eating in advance. The meal was well cooked and presented until it came to ordering the dessert. The manager/head waiter informed us thst they had encountered a busy weekend and that there were 2 choices of dessert with limited portions available but they did have ice cream. He apologised and informed us that their order was expected until the following day.The restaurant is located at the side of sainsburys and they still couldn't provide enough dessert choices. I found this attitude and lack if forward planning unaaceptable as it definately wasn't our fault they had misjudged dessert order or that their order wasnt going to be delivered until the following day. Obviously there are now 11 customers who will in future vote with their feet and not return. You certainly did not get this right tonight !

We have made this our regular Thursday night out restaurant - love it. The band that plays - The Jack of Harps - are brilliant and the filet steak is one of the best we have ever had - and it is consistent. Lovely bar staff, efficient, helpful and friendly. Can't wait for Thursday to come around to go back

Visited Bawtrys on the 7th May with colleagues great decor and setting with fabulous sofas and very stylish,but that's where it ends,when visited the bar, shocking bar service no non alcoholic beers or ciders & considering the well stocked bar,was met with a rather brusque bar service, so asked about a mocktail as there was cocktails chalked on the bar,but no bar service for a mocktail,really poor service so had to make do with J20 while my colleagues had beers and cocktails.Incredibly poor service from a female bartender who really needs to learn bar service and etiquette and a better choice of non alcoholic drinks.

We visited Bawtry to see the Tour de Yorkshire come through and found it to be a lovely little place to mooch around. In need of some lunchtime sustainance we popped in. I chose a prawn and mayo sandwich and I gathered from the description on the menu that this was not going to be a boring sandwich. Wow, it was lovely! There was no way I was ever going to be able to pick it up in my hands to eat it and so using the knife an fork provided I tucked in. Gorgeous tasty plump prawns on proper bread with some scrumptious home made coleslaw and a little bucket of chips that were to die for - deep golden brown and full of flavour. My husband had the steak sandwich and his was also good, steak cooked medium rare to perfection. The beer was also very well kept. It was far from cheap as a sandwich goes but worth every penny. The downside was that it took a long time to arrive but the place was busy and my husbands steak was cooked freshly so it is a small thing to tolerate. Then a musician struck up and we found out they have live jazz every Saturday! Nice! The musicians were not actually very good but they were not bad and it is always good to have some live music. A group of ladies came in and occupied a table near us. They seemed to have a hoard of young kids with them but oddly enough it was the ladies who were making more noise than the kids (who were really rather well behaved) We could no longer hear ourselves think as the ladies talked so loudly over the live music so it was time to leave.That is when I discovered the one bad thing about this place. The toilets are dirty and shabby. First appearance they seem ok but when opening the door of a cubicle I realised my hands had touched a surface on the back of the door that felt "tacky" Once inside I looked and saw the back of the cubicle door was filthy with worn cream paint that had tell tale sticky and dirty areas where a thousand hands reach to open and close it. YUK! Once I had spotted this it made me look closer and poorly fitting toilet seat, gouges out of the plasterwork above the tiles and numerous holes in the door from old locks and handles that have been replaced without anyone bothering to fill the holes all made it looks uncared for and unclean. At least there was plenty of hot water and soap so I could wash my hands properly after using the loos but frankly I would expect better of an establishment charging what this one does for food.

We popped in for a drink... The bar staff were welcoming and engaging. One lady even gave us a run through of the history of the town!Drinks were OK and not excessively priced.

Unbelievable the size of the ribs didn't even have them in America that big! Defo man vs food moment! The wait for the food was a long time but they cooked the ribs from fresh!

This must be the most disorganised business in Britain, only phone number on the web is a mobile that isn't the pub!! When you ring, the restaurant & bar are separate businesses (so they told us) even though it's one & the same kitchen. All that aside, the senior staff were excellent, efficient and friendly and the food was excellent quality and great value. We will be going again but perhaps but better planning (had they advised us certain things when we booked, it would have been even better as an evening).

We were staying at the hotel and chose to eat there as it was too cold to go looking for another restaurant.The menu was varied and food arrived hot and well cooked. Service was excellent. So pleased we decided to eat in as it really was a very pleasant experience.

Looking for a tasty impromptu bite to eat on a Saturday lunchtime. We weren't at all disappointed. Prompt, friendly service and delicious food. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Great service, ambience, cuisine and fabulous live music! Staff were attentive and worked hard to please on a busy evening. Live music added atmosphere and was perfect genre.

Following a wonderful meal in Coleman's Steak house I went through to Bawtry's bar, what an amazing venue, a laid back feel, lighting and music creating that great ambiance. Jack of Harps was performing just adding to that already authentic flair. It's one of those places where you can feel at ease and just keep going back again and again, fantastic selection of beers and spirits who needs Leeds, Manchester or London when there is this fantastic bar catering for all, great job and huge compliments to all and a huge thank you

Great place to eat, had a lovely buffet for our Xmas works party in the lounge at Bawtry's. Thought it might be impossible on a Friday evening but they just roped it off and we still got to hear the live swing and jazz band playing in the main bar area. Everyone was able to dance afterwards. Fantastic Thankyou

Bawtry's is a really trendy buzzing place to go for a drink and some really fabulous food - it's run by the two Andys and some fantastic young well trained staff - love it

Excellent meal , great value for money and a steak to die for. Cooked to perfection just the way you like it. Staff very friendly and helpfull
